I bought this in a medium a week ago and I've used it around 2-3 times already. I have a maltipoo and she has a tendency to pull and try to go faster/farther and it would cause her to choke in her previous harness. However, not a single time since I've started using this has she choked/gagged. The sizing is a bit off for her though, since a small is too tight but a medium is too loose (but the medium isn't loose enough for it to be unsafe/falling). This harness is true to its name and is so helpful for dogs that try pulling and end up choking. It's also super softer than her old one. I also bought a small for my yorkie and I think she loves it! Normally she hates harnesses but this one she doesn't seem to mind! I feel like it makes her more comfortable when she's walking as her previous ones weren't the most softest like this. It is a bit pricey for me, but I was able to get it on sale! Choke-free, soft and comfortable!mjp21
I just purchased this harness yesterday in a size Medium for my 16 lbs Beagle mix. It ripped completely in half after only having her wear it for 2 hours. It fit perfectly which is why I gave it 2 stars, but it should have lasted for more than 2 hours. Definitely not worth my money.Zoie Mom
This is my third Gooby harness. Small size worked well when she was a puppy. She outgrew the Small we got her a medium and there was a small sign of tearing on this harness when we upgraded her to large. We got her the large pink and the fabric tore in half. The black fabric on the edge was the only thing keeping it together. Our dog weighs 18lbs but she’s built like a tank. If you have a dog that pulls I wouldn’t recommend this harness. If your dog is well behaved and doesn’t pull you should be good to go.Goobys with tears

First the Pros: this harness is durable and I have no doubt it is strong and durable enough to hold my 70lb pittie when needed. It also does a great job of keeping her from pulling when using the chest loop. We love the Ruffwear brand and I (and my dogs) love the sweaters/clothing as they are always cold in temps below 70°. Cons: I watched the video on fitting the harness and every single walk results in raw skin/bleeding/scabs under her armpits (she has very thin fur on her underside) due to the material of the harness rubbing in this area. I also find the buckles a bit difficult to unclip as they are partially hidden inside the attachment area which means you have to squeeze the buckle through the thick harness material to release the clasp. Because of my love of their other products and the front clip feature, I may try to put some padding or softer material in the underarm area to see if that helps.Melissa S.
For the most part I really like this harness. The construction seems sturdy and the color is nice, and it’s very easy to get on and off. That said, I think it could be improved by lengthening the body (the neck to back, if you will). I have two mixed breed dogs who are very similar in shape, size, and weight. I purchased two of these harnesses, one in extra small and one in small. The small is overall a bit too large around, and the small (although ok for girth) is way too short. I am always trying to keep an eye on their underarms and backs of their elbows to make sure they aren’t getting raw spots. I’ve seen the same issue in other reviews, so I don’t think it’s just my dogs. I would also love it if you could purchase extenders in different sizes, because I think often a smaller size is better all around, but doesn’t extend in girth quite enough, while the next size up is too big. The good still outweighs the not perfect though, and I keep coming back to Ruffwear to buy different styles of harnesses!Samantha N.
So, I had been waiting until our pup was close to full grown to invest in this harness, as it's a bit pricier. I really wanted to love this harness SO much and give it the best review, as the quality is fantastic and it's really just an all around durable and beautiful harness!! BUT…… it did not work well for our English Cocker Spaniel Pup. I bought her an XS at our local pet store and we tried it on there to make sure it seemed to fit right, as she is pretty much full grown now. I don't think the XXS would fit her girth properly, so we got the XS, which fits nicely around the chest, but after grooming her puppy fur around the neck, the harness is too loose at its tightest now, and when I use the front hook (which is ideal for training her on the leash), the harness shifts terribly and has caused really awful matting of her fur under her armpits, to the point where I had to stop using the harness. And now I have to cut off all that matted fur under her armpits. We comb and brush her regularly, but she's also active and we hike and swim and have done lots of activity in this harness. It's such a shame, as the front clip was my favorite way to leash train her and I just love the overall look/style of the harness, but I don't think the XXS is going to fit, as I can barely get the XS over her head at it's tightest and then it's too loose at the neck. All that to say, if you have a floofy spaniel pup who likes to pull, you may want to make sure you can get sizing exact and be sure to check the fur constantly. I'm giving this 3 stars because it is a really well made harness, just did not work out well for our ECS. None of my other harnesses have caused matting like this, even when her puppy floof was at it's longest, so I know it's this harness and using the front loop hook and just the fit not working right for her. Looks great, doesn't fit great. I'm so bummed about it. I really wanted to love this harness. I would recommend it to a pup that does not have long fur.Lindsay

Our no-pull service dog harness is a true no-pull harness. what makes this a no-pull harness is a d-ring set into the front chest plate. if you have a dog that wants to get out in front of you then this harness will solve that problem. when the leash is attached to the front chest d-ring and you tug at the leash the dog will turn back towards you. causing the dog to turn its head and focus on you. if you have a young dog that gets distracted easily this will also be perfect for you. when training with this harness i will attach a short leash to the top d-ring of the harness & then a narrow longer leash to the front chest d-ring. i will work the top leash but if the dog gets out of position or distracted i have that narrow longer leash on the front d-ring to make the correction & get the dog back focused on me. if you are working with a wheel chair you can attach one leash to the chair and hold the other leash that is connected to the front d-ring to get the same results the no-pull service dog harness is a form fitting harness with adjustments on both the chest/neck & girth areas. there are two sets of buckles at the neck & girth so once you have the harness adjusted to your dog's size then it is very easy to take the harness on and off because the adjustments can be left in place. you won't have to take this harness off & on by pulling it over the dogs head. the no-pull quick-release service dog harness is padded with air mesh for your dog's comfort. the padded chest area gives good stability to the harness. there are no loose floppy straps on this no-pull service dog harness. the entire harness is bound with reflective materials. it comes with two attached reflective service dog patches. there is an attached double pocket id window for your id's. the handle is a raised molded easy grip handle with two d-rings to attach an extended bridge handle. the harness is red in color and comes in three sizes. bridge handles & id cards are sold separately.

I wanted a front clip harness for my adolescent SDIT who needs a bit of extra "steering" right now. I thought this harness would be perfect, but after using it once, I realize that the description didn't give neck measurements. Buying based on girth size alone, I ended up with a harness that hangs on my adolescent German Shepherd (whose girths usually fill out long before their necks). With such a loose neck on front clip harness, the whole thing spins. There's no way to size it down. So for anyone with a young deep-chested breed, watch out for that. Otherwise, my dog clearly liked it. The Y (between the front legs) strap design is ergonomically superior to traditional harnesses, especially with growing dogs. It's lightweight and comfortable. Like all my other Active Dog harnesses, the quality is second to none. It should be a great harness for my dog during the heat of summer after he's filled out. I love how reflective it is. (In the photo, the restaurant patio was quite dark. The harness was impressive the way it lit up when the flash hit it.). It's a nice enough harness that I'll just put this away until late summer. If the neck were more adjustable (or neck size listed in the description), I'd give this a 5 paw rating.Lori
We received the no pull service dog harness, padded cordrua clip on bridge handle and ID that we just ordered. Much sooner than we expected. We new we wanted a no pull harness for our (working) service dog because they have work so well our other (pet) dogs. The minute we took this harness out of the box it exceeding our expectations just in quality construction. We ordered a M/L using the "how to fit your dog" chart. The sizing chart was an excellent resource. We adjusted the straps to fit. And are very pleased with a fit that will support the growth our dog will experience. Will be returning. Our Yorkie mix weighs 10 lbs and measured 14 inches around her chest. Based on the size chart, we ordered her a size Small. We paid extra for shipping. When it got here, it looked tiny. I adjusted the straps and tried putting it on our pup but it’s too small! It barely went over her head and wouldn’t close even at the largest adjusted strap point. Either your size chart is wrong or your product is mislabeled. I will be returning this harness. Which is too bad because I love the harness she has from your company but it is stinky now and the smell won’t wash away. I won’t be ordering another harness from you because I won’t be paying shipping again and it may not fit and I’ll have to return.LoveBlueDiamonds
I like this harness! I have a mini aussie and he is a chewer. Sometimes with these he will somehow find his way to nibble around the edges of the harness and tear through it. (We’ve been through 3 harnesses) Anyways, I wish it were a little easier to out on with the clip that has to go through the strap but I guess thats why he is so secure. Still would recommend this product though as its better than collars for dogs throats!sarah.a
