I was very pleased with the quality of this sweater. The acrylic is very thick, but it is also very soft and washes nicely. It's got that "fisherman's sweater" look that, since we live on the New England shore, is perfect for those raw, chilly days. My shih tzu has that barrel-chested, long-but-low-to-the-ground physique that can often make it difficult to find sweaters and jackets that fit well. Fabdog has been my go-to brand for her sweaters for a few years now. I do find that they tend to run a little on the big side, so if your dog is in between sizes, you may want to size down. For what it's worth, my shih tzu has a 19" girth, 13.5" length and weighs 13 lbs, and the Size 12 is perfect on her.Christine G.

I got this sweater for my dobie to wear on chilly days by itself, or under his coat on cold days. It is made very well. Nice and heavy like a cable sweater should be. Had a very strong chemical odor when it arrived. Had to be washed 3 or 4 times to remove the smell….and wash by itself! Anything you wash it with the first few times will have that chemical smell too! We recently had some brutally cold temps here and I layered this under a coat. Kept my dog nice and toasty all day! This is a great, warm, high-quality, nice-looking sweater. We live is Southern California, so our short-haired meximut mix wears it on its own (i.e., it doesn’t get cold enough here for multiple layers to be necessary) on colder mornings and evenings. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is that, while the Velcro wrap situation under the belly/chest allows for a very customizable fit, our guy is just to squirmy for me to get it right and get it on him straight. It has survived a full summer of kayaking, swimming, and running through the tall grass and brush along the shoreline…and it still looks and works like it did the first time we put it on her. The top handle is very thick and is incredibly useful if you need to pull your dog out of the water without fear of hurting or causing your dog discomfort. It was and still is easy to adjust to fit her frame (barrel chest- like a pit bull) and narrow waist. The instructional video for fitting the pfd to your dog provided by Ruffwear was a HUGE bonus. This is a wonderful hoodie and indeed is very soft inside. My Kaya loves it so much that she wants to wear it to sleep at night. I like a number of things about it, with the softness being one, it washes very well (a very small amount of shrinkage, but not enough that it won't still fit well), love the leash hole on the back, and it covers her well in cold weather. I purchased a size Xlarge for my poodle (12" neck, 13" back length, 18" chest) because I wanted a 'generous' fit. She wears it over her snowsuits when it is very cold (zero and below) and wears it on it's own above 35 degrees or so. This is a wonderful hoodie and indeed is very soft inside. My Kaya loves it so much that she wants to wear it to sleep at night. I like a number of things about it, with the softness being one, it washes very well (a very small amount of shrinkage, but not enough that it won't still fit well), love the leash hole on the back, and it covers her well in cold weather. I purchased a size Xlarge for my poodle (12" neck, 13" back length, 18" chest) because I wanted a 'generous' fit. She wears it over her snowsuits when it is very cold (zero and below) and wears it on it's own above 35 degrees or so. I am so pleased with this item and the reasonable price that I have purchased 3 more in different colors. She now has red and a bright blue and bright pink coming.Kaya's Mom

I really like the sweater. It is good quality and came nicely packaged. It is a little big for my dog but she is in between sizes and I think the small would have been too short for her length. She is about 22 lbs but is long. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I did not receive the color I selected but I still like the color that came so I am not even considering exchanging it.

While this doesn't fit my Doberman exactly the way it's supposed to (it's a little tight and far too short on her body), it still looks so darn cute on her. I got the largest size available – XXXL – and it's still tight and very short on her body. She loves it though and totally rocks out the look anyway. I love the color – it's very bright and the material is very soft to touch. Wish these were made in big dog sizes because I would love to get her several different colors 🙂Karen R
Although I have purchased many of these hoodies & have been happy with the quality & comfort of them, I found that the cream colored one seems to be made by a different manufacturer. It is definitely smaller than the other colors, so I have to send it back. I'm not sure if I'll buy it in a larger size or not. But I would still recommend it, with caution on sizing.Jeanine K
