However My dogs wont go through the actual flap, to solve this i attached some string and a small hook to the outside to keep it up. Problem solved they go through the hole no problem. After reading all of the reviews, the VERY common problem is the hinge. This is going to be my 3rd or 4th door and second to purchase (the sizable hole is hard to find a replacement for), most EVERYONE has had the exact same broken and weak point of the hinge. Some of these comments are from long enough ago, you would think that the company would look at the common problems and try and fix the issue. I've had this door for a year now, and after a year of modifying, and remodifying, I give. Simply not a great door for strong dogs. Our doberman broke the door out initially, it was put back in place. The 2nd time he broke it out some of the plastic fasteners broke off. My SO ended up modifying the door with an aluminum strip and all new hardware. It's been broken off several times even with the new modifications. The key backs fall off and we didn't end up using them anyways to begin with. The frame is solid, we got the wall kit which is flimsy and had to seal ourselves but nonetheless it's installed. I'd love to order another model that will fit the already permanent opening. As of current, our heat's turned off until we figure out what to do to fix the door. Purchased the door about a month ago. We have 4 dogs ranging in size from 6.5 lb to 60 lb. All of them use the door even the little guy. The big dog did not need any training at all he instinctively new when it went click he could go! I was concerned about the reviews but it seemed to me that these were all very large dogs by height and the photos of the installs seemed low to me. I would recommend the product. No more getting up two or three times a night. YAAA I installed it myself, granted I am more of a handyman than most, but I am also over the 65 mark +. So I would expect the young bucks to do it even faster. But you do need to have a supply of the D cells. Batteries are not what they used to be and you only get about a month or a little less use. The directions were weak and adapter ( for large Igloo Dog house} didn't match properly. Had to go on to YouTube to figure out how to make it work. The Igloo is a constant curve making something that is not built for the curve turns into a little more work. The adapter did not compensate for the curve but I did get it installed and I am happy with it and my dog is also. The bracket is supposed to fit an igloo style dog house. The dog house is curved the bracket is flat which makes it difficult to drill mounting holes for the bracket. It's a okay product, the only thing I didn't like was the center pieces you had to cut to match the thickness of the door. I installed two of these dog doors and the first one I cut the pieces to the thickness of the door like the instructions said and they where to narrow to stay in place once the dog door was assembled, on the second dog door I cut the pieces about a 1/2 wider then the thickness of the door so that the center pieces would seat in the frame of the dog door and stay in place after assembly.mikdd65

I bought this because service dogs amaze me and I had to read this story. This is a great story, it does jump around a bit form the actual 911 attacks back to his childhood and back and forth. Once you get used to that it is an easy read. I am almost finished with it and I am very glad that I bought it, it was interesting and immersed you totally into what was happening that tragic day.smokey17033
Their are those moments you remember in life for the rest of your years on earth. Those big moments that stay with you weather good or bad. On September 11,2001 is a day everybody always ask where were you on that day and it's one you know exactly where you were. It was the day terrorist took down the world trade center and killed hundreds of innocent people. In this book we go through the day from the view of a man that was in the building and lived to tell his story. His story is different though,his name Michael Hingson and he was born blind. I learned so much from this book. He goes back between telling of that day in the stairway coming out of the trade center and back to his childhood and growing up blind. He tells us what it was like growing up with no sight. This book made me think of what it must be like to grow up and live never seeing anything. Now take yourself to that horrible day and imagine trying to get out a falling building with no sight. He tells of him and guide dog getting out and one story touched me in it. A lady was afraid they were all going to die in the stairway and a group gaithered around her and gave her comfort and his guide dog nudged the womans hand and she petted the dog. It makes you truly see how smart dogs are and what a wonderful comfort and help they truly can be to people. This is a great read and one of the best accounts of a person who survived 9/11. Thunder Dog is the story of Michael Hingson, who was blind from birth and was at the World Trade Center when it was struck on September 11, 2001. Michael was a district sales manager for a data protection company that was located on the 78th floor of the World Trade Center. Through this book you will learn of Michaels acount of escaping the World Trade Center, but also of his life of being blind since birth. Michael was never taught that his blindness was something that prevented him from being successful in life, but that he instead could do just about anything he wanted in life. Michael was never thought of as different from the other kids that he grew up with, but instead participated in almost all the activities that friends took part in. Michael discoved ways to prevent his blindness from limiting him and eventually, with the assistance of his guide dog, escaped from his workplace after it was attacked on 9/11. This book is more than just an account of one man’s escape of the Twin Towers on the day it was attacked, but also of how we cannot let things that hinder us, hold us back. There are ways around the obstacles in our lives and we have the ability to be successful even if we have what other people may call “limitations” or “dissabilities”. It was a terrific book to read and it was a great source of inspiration.
