Whether it be resource guarding, dog based aggressive tendencies, human based reactivity, or long-term rehabilitation of stubborn habits. This collar is the way to go. this e collar is amazing. My 100lb plotthound is a wanderer. When the other two dogs were out playing in the yard, we'd have to keep him on a long lead, which prevented him from fully playing free with our other dogs. … we tried numerous times to start on the lead, then let him off and continuously do call and reward, but eventually, he'd always sneak over to the neighbors. With The Boss I'm able to correct his behavior from across the yard. It took less than one week to get him fully trained. Works on my 120lb Pyrenees lab mutt! He has thick hair. Hes stubborn as all heck. I had to turn the power down to 35% there is plenty left if a deer comes I can juice it up for his safety (if needed.) most of the time 35 will stop him. I rarely need to shock him now. He knows how to win. The only thing I use the collar for is the come here command as that is the most important command ever and I dont want to confuse him. We love this collar. We purchased another shock collar previously and this one is by far superior. The battery life is great and my dog responds to the beep, vibrate, and I rarely have had shock him bc the other 2 work so well. This collar has a long range and I am able to beep him when he is doing something he shouldnt outside without having to be close to him. I love that this remote locks so our little ones dont shock him. This has helped us teach him the behaviors to avoid and he has become such a better dog. This really is a tremendously different product. 127 settings seemed overwhelming to me. As I use this more and more as I train my dog, I’m able to see what that really means. In the past, collars I’ve used only had a few settings, so moving up or down a notch so to say was a dramatic difference, while the dogtra allows me to fine tune the stim very minimally until I find my dogs “number” for the variety of situations. I bought the Dogtra 280C to use with my very active and agile 1 year old Toy Austrailian Sheppard for stopping unwanted behaviors like digging up my lawn and attacking the cat. The transmitter and receiver both hold charges for days, and easily sync by just holding the two units next to one another at the red dots for a second. If you use this properly, it is a great training tool. I use it on my 13 pound pomeranian, and he absolutley went to rock start training status with the mini educator. I think the biggest thing for me was that I was educated first on how to use it. I worked with a professional and certfied dog trainer first to ensure I was using this device effectively. I typically use this between a setting of 6-10, which I can not feel when place directly and firmly on my own neck. I typically can't feel anything until it hits a 14. It is NOT used to inflict pain, but a stimulation in order to get the desired response from the dog. I also use it in conjunction wiht positve reinforcement with treats. I can now walk my little dude through the city, with no leash and he stays right by my side. I rarely have to use the stimulation. While it is not often that I walk him without a leash, this gives me the freedom to do so. It gives both myself and my dog more confidence in training and obedience.latsirk
I was real unsure about using any electronic collar for training, however, our trainer reassured us and provides this product to her clients. We we allowed to feel the stimulation that is needed for my rowdy pittie and it is barely a tickle, but somehow it works. I've been using this unit on my own for several days now and love it. I have not had to go above 11, which I held up to my own neck. It's a very slight stimulation that somehow gets her attention and is working wonderfully. This product saved a pound pooch. We adopted a 2 year old schnoodle (schnauzer/poodle) from a shelter. He is smart, learns tricks and basic commands quickly (with treats), but he will ignore you when he doesn't feel like obeying. His biggest issue was diving out the door any time it was opened, and when he got outside, he would run off and not return until he was finished exploring (even when called). It only took a few "stimulations" to teach him to come back when called. It has also been useful in training our "cat-dog" to stay off tables. The unit has 15 intensity settings, and we normally only have to set it on 2 or 3 (when dealing with the outside run off problem, we had to turn it up to 7 one time.) Contrary to the product directions, we use the tone feature as a warning prior to "stimulation" as we also have an electronic fence for him that uses a tone to warn him to stay in the boundaries. Therefore, trying to use the tone on the training collar as positive reinforcement would have confused him. After only 2 weeks, 99% of the time, all we have to do anytime he is disobeying in anyway is give the warning tone. He has also learned not to wander too far from me when he is off the leash. He weighs 14 lbs and has a neck circumference of 10 inches. The collar fit fine after adjusting it and cutting off the excess. The receiver is also one of the smallest of all the brands/models we looked at. Our dog has also tested the waterproof feature, as he took a dive in a swamp yesterday. I had borrowed the same collar from my daughter for about a month, but she needed it back, so for the past two months he had begun to get a little independent in the woods. As soon as I put the new Arc collar around his neck, he was a changed dog. Even without paging him, he began to hunt about 75 yards out and would return to check on me every few minutes. Whenever he gets out of sight, and seems to wander too long, I simply "page" him about three seconds and he comes running. It is simple and easy to get started. Distance is accurate. If puppy/ dog has thick fur definitely have to unlock static levels. Vibrate only one level no to slight response viewd with our dog thick fur. Battery life not best, no off switch for remote, and you can only do 2 choices quickly (tone and vibrate or tone and static) only negatives. We use tone and static due to our dogs thick fur/ response.WMA6
I bought the 300 yard lite about 2 months ago for my 1 yr old Springer spaniel who is a little shy and very sensitive to corrections yet loves to bark at the neighbors. He usually stays in yard but does wander to neighbors on occasion to bark at them. Underground fencing not a good option for me so I tried this device. Wow it’s amazing! I trained him on our boundaries and recall with lots of praise and have only had to use the tone and vibration modes. The barking and preoccupation with neighbors has decreased substantially. He also loves to swim and I love that this collar is waterproof. I hope it withstands all the summer swimming and lasts over time. It does say it’s waterproof.Lakegirl97
We have had this PetSafe 300 for a couple of years now. It most definitely works in the 300 yard area. It is also very tough! It has survived several playful Corgis, and is now on a very rambunctious German Shepard. We really like the many selections you have with this trainer, from low to high. The hand held remote battery seems to last forever between charges, but the collar not so long. We seem to only get two days worth out of a charge at the most, which is why I can't give it a full 5 star rating. I would give it 4.5 starts if that was possible. Overall we would definitely buy again. We are looking to get another collar so the other can charge while one is on the rambunctiously large German Shepard puppy. I say puppy.. She's like 75lbs!!! I've tried several of these collars but my main issue has always been that they would need batteries every few days and the batteries were really expensive. This one is rechargeable – both the collar and the remote. I also love that it has the vibration feature so I can warn my dog before I actually have to "shock" her. So far since we've had it, she's only been shocked twice. She is a completely changed dog. We went from a dog who jumped up on me when I came in the house, barked at every person walking by and chased the cats incessantly to a very well behaved dog who now does none of those things. We rarely ever even have to use the stimulation. The product seems very sturdy and the remote is very colorful and bigger than most others so it never gets lost. It has a lanyard so you can wear it around your neck but that is somewhat awkward for me. I think that would be very useful when bringing her out in the public which is our next adventure.MichiganDogLover

Not only do they offer virtual training sessions if you are out of the area she offers exemplary feedback and support at the beginning of your relationship with her and throughout the life of your dog. There are many videos on YouTube that are extremely helpful. Most helpful concepts: learn and teach place command (this will change your life and I’m not exaggerating), making yourself he leader through your dog’s eyes, and what a balanced dog’s life can look like. I almost had to relinquish my dog because he never turned off, was child aggressive, and I learned that I had to change how I ran my ship. It’s a life changer. Please don’t forget to wash your dog’s neck and collar after water time and ROTATE frequently. Also make sure that the collar is fitted properly. Not to tight but it too loose. Battery life is horrible! We only put on the dog when we let her outside or if there is company over. It's turned off after every use, the dog hates being outside and it's only on for 10-15mins at a time and we are lucky to get 1.5 weeks out of it. Recently the product will not even stay on. I have now owned two of the big dog collars. The first one I used on my dog for a week. batteries died twice in that week. I went to change the batteries again and the only thing left on my dog was a collar with two holes in it, that was why it wasn't working. Then I returned it to my favorite ranch store where exchanged, the parts I had, for a new one. I never did find the rest of the collar. I put the new one on my dog, not realizing that the problem was the prongs, and I lost the second one by night's end. I will say a bonus is that I called customer service and they are sending me a new one. Hopefully this will work better than the last two. Tried both the "Little" and the Big Dog Trainer, returned both. Neither had enough stimulation on high (8) to get my dogs attention. My dog is still a puppy only 13 weeks old and I wanted to start teaching basics manners and commands. I thought it wasn't working, so I held it in my hand on high, barely noticeable ! The dog was sleeping and I made contact with him firmly and when the stimulation was applied, he didn't even wake up ! I owned both the "elite" and the wireless fence 5-6 years ago and either of those on a medium setting (4-5) held in your hand would make you drop it. Don't know if they have reduced the output on these products or what ? No one wants to hurt their dog, but they have to have enough stimulation to work. These did not or at least not on my dog. Bought this last fall for upland hunting and general training for my GSP. Worked amazing. I had it in sub zero temps in the dakotas pheasant hunting and got it soaking wet duck hunting, functioned flawlessly. I very seldom have to shock him now, he responds to the vibrate function. I bought this after researching for several months. I have a buy once cry once mentality and am glad I paid a little extra. I love the digital reading so I know exactly what level of stimulation I am giving him. I actually tried it out on myself before I put it on my dog. I really couldn't feel anything until I got to level 20. My dog started acknowledging it at level 30, and that is where it has stayed. I haven't ever needed any more than that. Two friends have since bought this same ecollar and are extremely happy.
