I recently received a sample of the Vetericyn Foam Care Medicated Shampoo to try. I have 3 small short hair dogs that have dry skin issues in the cooler months. I was able to put the shampoo to the test after my little guys decided to roll on some dead critter out in the back 40. They all came in tails wagging and smelling like week old road kill. First off, the spray nozzle on the Vetericyn Foam Care is a great idea! This made bath time so much easier. You can spray the foam shampoo exactly where you need it. No more filling your hand or slopping shampoo on the pup's back. There is no heavy medicated smell from the shampoo. It almost instantly killed the horrendous odor the dogs had. After they all got dried, there was no odor or any sort of medicated smell. They all smelled like puppies again. I like the fact the Vetericyn Foam Care leaves a neutral smell. I also have not noticed the normal itching from the cold weather. I give tha Vetericyn Foam Care Medicated Shampoo an A+. I will definitely continue to use this product on my pups. I like this product. I really like the design of the bottle and how it is a spray/foaming formula. That really does make the shamooing process easier, although, once I had sprayed it a few times, I don't think my dog was a fan of the spray noise. I have to give my dog a bath daily with Chlorohexidine shampoo due to his severe allergies. It's the only thing that really helps topically. I did use this in addition to the Chlorohexidine, and I feel like it helped some with drying out his rashes. Unfortunately, there's only so much I can do to help my dog with allergies. I haven't found a cure or anything that gets rid of the redness, flaking, and itching he has. Because of the spraying option, this is easier to use for getting on his belly/under his legs. I think it's an effective product, just not sure how effective since my dog has a chronic allergy issue. It has a nice smell as well! Clean but not fruity or overwhelming. This shampoo is not only so easy to use, it's been such a good product to use overall! The foaming spray makes lathering so much easier since I don't have to spread a gel shampoo so much just to make sure it doesn't sit mostly in one spot. The shampoo didn't seem to overdry my dog's coat or skin, but it was really good at removing all the dirt either way. Because it's a foaming shampoo, it also washes away so much more easily which saves me time and effort with washing her. She smelled so clean and her fur looked so healthly after the first use! My Pomeranian suffers from BSD and has lost a lot of his fur. I have tried treatments from the vets but with no avail. I started using this product afte my 7 year old dog was diagnosed with a Thyroid issue. She was overweight, had a lump on her neck, tail was loosing hair, all the "things/symptoms" that come with a thyroid issue. After the vet told me she HAS to be put on thyroid meds for the rest of her life, I did some research on what that meant. And then the thyroid medication recalls came. I was upset, I didnt want to have her go through this. So I started doing some research. And I founf this company was the ONLY company to sell a homeopathic/herbal thyroid remedy. I do not like giving either of my pups "human meds" and have always treated them with essential oils/herbs/etc. So after reading the many reviews this company has on this medicine, I was willing to give it a try, and figured, if it didn't work, at least I know it didn't and will get the script from the vet. The other reviews were correct in stating it takes 3-4 weeks to see the improvements. Well, WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT on my little sausage girl! She is getting her shape back, her lump is almost 100% gone, and all the fatty tissue around her neck is also almost gone. Her tail hair is slowly growing back and she has SPUNK! She brings me her leash!!!! Two of my dogs tested severely hypothyroid. The first was only 2.5 years old, a neutered male deaf boxer. This was found after numerous issues that almost became fatal when he experienced anaphylactic shock last Dec. I finally found a holistic/traditional vet to figure out the root issue for him. I would have never guessed he was hypothyroid!?! He was friendly, hyper, full coat, great weight, you name it. Ultimately though he got way softer fur and decreased or eliminated allergy symptoms (paw licking, scratching, puking, etc.) after starting this supplement. My 12 year old spayed female plott hound was recently diagnosed hypothyroid as well. She had more classic thyroid symptoms (weight gain, less energy, etc.) but still had a soft full coat of fur. As an added bonus of these and other natural food and supplement changes, she is less aggressive and less reactive than she has ever been before! She used to bark at her butt daily likely due to incontinence urine burn, and that stopped too (the barking and the leaking)! She also quit her daily head shaking (likely ear allergies). I only wish I had learned all this sooner! I do use the instructions on the internet, at 1 pill per 30lbs twice per day. So my boxer gets 5 pills per day (75 lbs) and my plott gets 4 per day (60 lbs). It works wonderfully! Been using it daily and a couple other things as needed (omegas, multi-vitamin) on the boxer for about 6 months now. I have been waiting for several months to write a review on this supplement to make sure that the results I was seeing were not just a coincidence. My 4 year old wheaten terrier was showing some signs of a thyroid condition (sensitivity to sounds, bouts of being scared/depressed, lethargy, random signs of aggressive behavior with guests, stiff/sore back legs, bit of weight gain) & we had him tested (complete thyroid panel). His T3s, T4s, and free T3s were all low. I purchased these supplements and began administering them – 1 pill in the morning (in peanut butter) and 1 in the evening (he weighs 45 pounds). We noticed changes after about a month of giving the supplements. Now, several months later, he is like a different dog. He is happy, he doesn't hide and cower at sounds anymore, he doesn't seem stiff or sore, and he now greets guests that he used to bark at viciously with kisses. I own a dog grooming salon. Over two decades I have tried so many brands. All too often I expend effort on a dog and realize the $50 or $60 jug of product was a waste because I can smell doggy smell after they are dried. I normally stick with Espree but am closing so I bought one gallon of Fresh Pet to get me to the end. I would have been buying this for years if I had tried it sooner. I have a 10 year old Siberian cat and she flat out refused to eat food with this stuff on it — so, not wanting to waste it, I got a 10cc (needless obviously) medicine syringe and routinely gave her 0.2-0.3cc of it. 123, easy peasy down the hatch but yeah, she'd run if she saw the syringe ha ha. If this tastes as bad as it smells I can understand. It did seem to help her coat be softer, reduce shedding and best of all, her reoccurring chin acne disappeared. One thing I didn't like is that the bottle and bottle neck got all sticky from this stuff. It's easy enough to fix with some super hot water on a washcloth, but still.s.
I recently adopted a toothless Cavalier and was advised to mix fish oil in his food to help him get more Omega-3 without needed to chew meat. There is no smell and this stores easily in the fridge. It was $20 on Amazon. Unfortunately after 2 weeks of using this product I’ve had to stop. My female dog will refuse to eat if this has been applied to her food and she never refuses food. All fur babies get salmon oil on their evening meals for skin, coat, hairball reduction (kitties) and taste. In June of 2013 I rescued my black cat. The Humane Society told me Sooki was about 2 years old at the time. Within a few months she started licking everything—including the furniture and especially the house walls. I took her to a Vet and she was diagnosed with feline stomatitis. Her gums were inflamed and it was recommended that all of her teeth be removed–a standard practice. I found another vet who said he had previous success with 1-TDC with cats suffering from this incurable disease. He started her on 2 per day. After 6 months there was about a 50% remission. After a year she showed no signs of the disease. The Vet said she would have to remain on 1-TDC for the rest of her life–1 per day, which I have continued. I found out about Milk Thistle when I was researching liver disease in dogs because I had just been told that my dog Chloe was suffering with this. She also had bad arthritis and I learnt that milk thistle has anti-inflammatory properties also. She had not been right on other medication and was being sick almost every day so I decided to put her on milk thistle and a hepatic dog food and I have to say she is 100% better than she was.
