Very bitter! Keep your mouth shut and avoid talking while spraying this, and wash your hands thoroughly afterward. It's really bitter, and you'll taste it for yourself if you don't! We learned from the internet that you should first give your puppy a taste on a cotton ball or something, then hold his water up for 30 minutes to an hour so he doesn't think he should just drink water to get rid of the taste. Here in the Las Vegas desert my dog licks his paws constantly because it’s so dry. I figured I would try out this product to see how it works and it works like a charm. After noticing hyperkeratinosis on the paws of my senior basset hound (Baxter), I researched various products, and this one seemed to have the best reviews. Looking at the ingredients, sure you could make this stuff yourself, but for the money, it's more affordable to just buy a container, especially when a little goes so far. When I first put it on, he wasn't happy. I suppose his feet hurt so much on those spots, touching them was painful. However, shortly after using it, it was if he was a different dog. I'm not trying to allude that this is a miracle cure, or will change your pet significantly, but when considering that he went from watching my other dogs to playing with them, and walking with a better stride, and being happier in general, I give it a ton of credit. It has been a few weeks, and his feet are softer, but not totally cured. It's been two days and already my dog's dry paws are noticeably softer and less rough. We have a gravel driveway and fairly hard clay soil under the grass, and in hotter weather our dog's pads get dry and rough from dashing across it all the time. I bought the P.H. travel set to see if this would help my highly allergic, health challenged Scottish Terrier. Zesty Paws Probitoic Bites are cute: Heart-shaped treat, in a can't-miss sturdy orange container. There's also a generous number of bites packed into the packaging, sure to last a while for the average household. Each heart-shaped treat is soft but sturdy; its form is well retained which makes for easy splitting. I started my dog on the half treat dose for a week or so. My dog loves pumpkin flavor and food in general, so there were no issues with consumption. This particular formulation is labeled Gut Health which is great, but unfortunately, my dog's gut is extremely sensitive and every morning he vomited. I can't say for certain if Zesty Paws Probiotic Bites was the cause, but I took him off of the probiotic after a week and the vomiting ceased. Although I cannot continue using this probiotic, I would still recommend to friends and family with pets who have less sensitive stomachs. It appears to be a high quality product with sturdy, well-formed treats. The pumpkin flavoring is not overpowering and the container is sturdy and its unique color calls attention to the product.Tony D
If you have a pet and haven’t tried zesty paws yet, what are you waiting for?! My dog was diagnosed with IBS last year which sounds funny for a dog but it was really scary! I purchased these for my Kimi and Kenny in training. they have sensitive stomach and eats grain free high-quality food. they having some issues with having soft stools which made it difficult to clean up behind her. I got these hoping that they would firm them stool up a little. They quickly did and now it is much easier to clean up when they potties. Well I gave a puppy a Sussex Spaniel.Very rare breed. They have big paws. So I have been on a mission to use products that start him on the right” paw” Ha ha. I adopted two very rambunctious puppies and bought many bottles of Grannick's Bitter Apple to deter them from chewing on things like furniture, shoes, etc. I tried other deterrents as well as puppy chew toys. In my opinion, Grannick's works the best. I gave this product four stars because the pump strayer was defective on a several bottles and did not spray. The liquid just dribbled out. I had to buy a spray bottle to properly apply it. Note: The product may stain. I used it anyway because I did not want the puppies to destroy my sofa. Also, I had to reapply it until my puppies learned that my sofa tastes bad and puppy chew toys taste good. Prior to the puppies, I used Grannick's Bitter Apple on my older dog. He developed a hot spot on his leg. I sprayed his fur around the hot spot, not on the hot spot itself. It worked very well in stopping him from licking that spot.VinTiff2021
This spray works!!! I have a bull dog puppy that loves to chew on everything he should not! I bought two bottles one for home and one for the office as I take him to work with me. No more chewing on the dining room table, my office chair or mist dangerously electrical cords!! Keep in mind that the spray is not effective after it has dried. I bought this on advice of a trainer, who said o spray it on a cotton ball or wadded up paper towel, then rub it on my puppy's tongue, so he'd know how bad it tastes. Then, he'd keep off anything that tasted like it. Instead, my black standard golden doodle liked it! I think my dog is weird. He also likes jalapeno peppers (he scarfed one down, that I'd dropped on the floor before I could get it, then wanted more) and lemon slices (the toddler grabbed on, tasted it, made a face, then gave it to the puppy, who loved it). Like I said, weird dog. I'm really looking forward to what this puppy does next! But, so I know where he is, I'm keeping him on a leash indoors, to gently pull him off the furniture (he chewed the bottom edge of my coffee table when no one was looking) and so he can't hide-the end of the leash will give away where he is, and that he's no doubt up to something! BTW, wear gloves when you use this spray. I didn't, and got it on my fingers, then it got onto my lips. I think I had the taste in my mouth for 4 days!Carys
