I switched from Whistle to Tractive for my cat, Knuckles. BEST CHOICE EVER. I find it much, much more accurate than Whistle and the features are awesome! I live on the Columbia River in St. Helens, Oregon. We are remote and surrounded by forest and water. Knuckles (aka “The OG”) likes to walk the “hood” like a mafia Don. We’ve had a couple visits to the emergency vet lately 😒. The Whistle was just too limited in what it can do, so I bought Tractive (much cheaper and I liked the features advertised). WOW!!!! So earlier tonight I was notified he’d left his virtual fence, so I used live tracking. Holy smokes! It’s outstanding! I watched him dart all over the damn place and I’m like “COME on ya idiot cat”. I started activating the sound feature and watched him react…..😂😂🤣, then the light feature. He got annoyed and started for home, so I used the AR feature and met him about 500 yards up my road. I’m so impressed I can’t even find words. The only thing I’m having trouble with is showing time and speed in the map settings. I use this on my iPad but will try again using the website. I have a dog who loves to escape from the garden. Having spent much of lockdown fencing the garden she still manages to find ways out. If she can't burrow under she goes over. No sooner have I blocked one escape route she has found another. Now with the tracker I receive alerts as soon as she leaves the safety of the garden and I can retrieve her quickly. The peace of mind is well worth the cost. There are other features which are interesting but we don't really use such as how much time she spends asleep per day or how much exercise she takes. The rubber clips which attach the tracker to her collar are rather fragile, but customer support have sent me 3 replacements free of charge. We do get some false alerts that the dog has escaped, but having set the virtual boundary close to the house this is probably bound to happen and I'd rather have this than to miss an escape. Battery life is about 3 days which is more than adequate. The tracker is a little bulky for a small dog (miniature Dachshund) but she's used to it. Overall I am very satisfied with the device and would recommend it for anyone with a Houdini pet.Andrew G.

I hesitated to buy this for a while, since it was a lot of money for me with the subscription cost too. I did a lot of research and finally took the plunge. I had some concerns about my dog running away, getting out or being swiped, but buying this product instantly stopped those concerns. This is so much more than just a tracker. It blew me away. It’s like a FitBit for dogs as well. It keeps track of how active my dog is, tracks her energy output, sets goals for her and even tracks her sleep/rest times. It inspired me to get her out for longer, so she’s healthier for it. I love the live tracking feature. I find it works really well and it’s so easy to locate her, so the peace of mind it gives is next level. I know some have complained about the service in remote areas, but any GPS requires high signal areas. You need to consider how any GPS products would work if you’re in a remote location, although I’ve done a lot of research on this product and heard quite a few people in remote areas had no issue. I love the battery saving feature where you can mark a “safe zone” for the product to go into power saving mode in. You can click a button to check that the product is still working and online while in the “safe zone”, which is helpful. It charges ridiculously quickly and a single charge can last days if your dog spends time in the “safe zone”. The corresponding app works incredibly well too. It’s not glitched once in months of use and works quickly and smoothly. This product was worth every cent. It’s so well designed and thought out, it’s such a smart little product. It’s slimline, succinct and stylish. I feel so much better when she has it on. I’ve gotten so many friends onto this product and everyone loves it. It’s absolutely worth it.bellsssss

Had difficulty getting the remote and collar to connect to the app. Not even 24 hours after owning the collar, the remote completely died even after a full charge. When the remote worked, it was pointless. Only 1 button that toned, vibrate, and shocked. Had to use the app to switch what the button did. E-fence feature was a joke. If you closed the app, your e-fence disappeared. App had to be constantly running.Ryan64

This collar worked great, until it didn’t. I purchased the collar and used it 3 times before it completely stopped working while hunting cause me to lose track of a dog for hours. Luckily I found the dog but had less luck getting help and a replacement. Customer service said this is happening with this collar so they are out of stock and will call me back with options. 3 days, multiple calls to them and no call back. While it was a good idea to reduce the price by putting the Pathfinder2 app on the user's smartphone, in practice, it proved to not be very user-friendly. Here are the issues I have with this unit: 1. I wear shooting gloves and each time I want to look at the app, I have to take my glove off to enter the PIN to unlock my phone. 2. The one-button handheld is proving to be not very useful since I end up going to the app on my phone 99% of the time. 3. Having to reconnect the 3 pieces each time is annoying. 4. the app isn't very user-friendly. Had a heck of a time trying to change the names of the collars in the app from dog_1 to my dog's name was difficult. After testing the unit for a week, I decided to sent it back.clor

The Herm Springer prong collar has made our new German Shepherd puppy behave much much better. It even had an effect on her the first time I put it on her. After a few gentle tugs, she got the message and now walks with me in stride. When she has just her regular collar on, she wants to pull, strain and do just what she wants to do, but this prong collar has put us back in control. It's like having power steering on this pup. I am glad I ran across a YouTube video about it. Would definitely recommend to anyone. She is now 4 months old but I purchased the large and had to take a few links out, but I will eventually need to start adding them back.Joe

I’m very happy with this purchase. It is exactly what I expected. I’m lucky that my boy is well behaved or I’d never be able to put this collar on. It is quite difficult to latch for me. I can’t imagine trying to put this collar on a wriggling dog. I hope that I will only need to use this collar a couple of times. I purchased it on the advice of my trainer. My dog outweighs me by a bit and after a Boxer attacked his sister and he yanked me off my feet trying to defend her it was decided he needed a Come to Jesus Meeting aid. I definitely DO NOT recommend this collar unless you know what you are doing and the collar is fitted correctly. These collars unfortunately get a bad rap. The are not barbaric collars that inflict pain. Not if used for their intended purpose and when used correctly. They are "corrective" collars. I have used them for years. I purchased three on this site because Sprenger is the only brand I like. There is no reason to use an x-large size on a large dog. It is overkill. I use medium on 25 lb dogs up to 125 pound dogs. The large is almost the same as the medium but anything larger is too big, bulky, heavy and unnecessary. These are very well made and the three collars I purchased came well packaged and arrived very quickly. Stick with Sprenger. They are the bestTrainer

My 75 lb boxer is on the adjunct staff of my cardiologist. His job is to walk me, hard, every day, 30-45 min. I have osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis as well as heart issues. When I used the training collar for the first time, it was like magic. Those plastic teeth work perfectly. Before, the dog usually behaved, but a nearby squirrel, or another dog, could be too much temptation to pull. Now, the gentlest tug and the usual "Leave it" command keep us walking like pros. I have little trouble disconnecting the links, but really, folks, surely you can add large tips to the cord ends instead of permanently joining them to a ring: one tip is the leash loop and male connector; the other is the female connector and release button. How hard is that? Connected, the collar fits with proper snugness after the owner adds or removes links. Disconnected, the collar opens so far it will slip over the dog's head and ears with ease. No more complaints from owners of impatient, wiggly dogs. Sure, this would add a dollar or five to the price. Big deal. Ease of use would be worth it. I have a 100 pound dog and it pulled so bad that nobody in the house could walk it except for me. And it was a struggle even for me. I had to keep an eye on her at all times because is she took out after a squirrel or something and I wasnt prepared, she would either break free or throw my shoulder out. I did some research and came across this collar and it had some good reviews, so I got one. My dog stopped pulling INSTANTLY!!! No joke!! She was like, What the heck???, and has never pulled since! Shell sort of pull, but nothing at all like before. Now my 90 pound 10 year old walks her easily. This collar worked so good, I got another one for my much smaller Australian Shepard, and now she dont pull anymore either. The collar seems well made and its easy to adjust. We purchased this with it stating it was a new collar. The actual collar that it came on has been cut off. There is no charger with it. It does seem to work but with the collar being cut it won't fit our hounds & without a charger u cant charge it. It came in a envelope, not in a box like the new ones do.boyces08

I have had this since January of 2018, best purchase IMO, is it perfect? No, does it work really really well? Yes it does. Is it sometimes slow to lock onto your phone? Yes, easy fix as I turn the collar and receiver on prior to getting ready or when we get into the car, that way everything is good to go when its time to go. The longest it has taken to acquire and lock on to my phone had been around 5 minutes. I use this several (3-4) times and week and haven't had any issues with the collar prongs bothering my dogs neck or causing issues. IMO it is an excellent value for the cost and its peace of mind knowing I know where my dog is at all times.Alexis

So far I have not used this to train my pup. My pup is to young (only 4 months). I have down load the App to my I Phone & have set it up for use. So far everything has been straight forward & easy to set up. The website for the product contains a lot of information on how to use this product for training & for Trouble Shooting if needed. This collar has tracked my husky as she ran off leash while out on hikes. It shows on our phones where she is, when she stops running, when she barks and what path she takes. It is neat to be able to watch the paths she takes when chasing the deer in the woods. It has tracked her over half a mile away. My only comment – which has more to do with my dog than the collar – is that the shocks don’t seem to phase her. I think her fur may be too thick.Dallas

I have used the collar several times and it does the job for me. The distance indicated on the receiver can be off as much as forty yards at times but the closer I move to my dog the more accurate the distance.Pointer0919

It is not user friendly. The icons for the dog and your location are too small and the contrast on the screen makes it hard to see the little icons in sunny conditions. The collar that came in the box is not bright green as it shows on the box. It is a medium green, harder to see on the dog than the bright green I thought I was getting. I bought this approximately two months ago and have not been particularly pleased with it. I find the buttons and the display unwieldly and very small making them difficult to see. The instruction manual that comes with the product does not explain the use of each of the features, meaning you have to try and navigate through Garmin's whole system to try and find a more helpful manual. Within a month the antennae fell off of the handheld device somewhere on a hike, to never be found again. When I contacted Garmin, I was told that the antennas don't fall off. Given that mine is missing, it seemed an odd thing to claim. They then told me I could purchase another one from their website – which as far as I can tell, you can't. The handheld device is by far the biggest issue though – it is not rechargable (how is that even possible?!?!?) and sucks up batteries like there's no tomorrow. In two months I have spent $40 on batteries. Regular batteries are basically pointless and lithium ones only last for about three weeks of use (2 hours a day x 3 days a week). If I had any idea that this was going to cost me SO MUCH extra money in addition to the already expensive price tag, I would definitely have purchased a different system. While the system has many neat features and does exactly what it is supposed to do (find my dog), I overall am highly dissatisfied with this purchase.Jen11

I read in a couple of notes about the battery life; yes it can be using a lot of batteries, but I switched rechargeable batteries and now this issue is in the past. The only issue I really have is that the whole handheld unit feels like 1990! At this price point you would expect a bigger detailed display, that shows you crisp images, but that is a no-go! This was a game changer for our dog. Several very bad behaviors/habits were corrected within a week of getting this collar. Obviously your results will depend on your dog and how you use this, but this was an invaluable tool for training our dog. Some details: 1) We find that the charge lasts a couple of days (we take it off and turn it off at night when the dog is sleeping). 2) Range is at least a few hundred yards. Never have tested out to the advertised 400 yd range. 3) The vibrate feature is very helpful (and pretty much the only thing we have had to use since the initial training). 4) The "Nick" shock feature is a great attention getter for the dog. 5) The range of shock levels provides everything from you can hardly notice it to pretty intense.In PDX

I purchased this and trained my dog Neko with it with a professional trainer a few months ago. This device was a lifesaver. Neko is a Shiba inu and they are extremely high energy, love to run and are very intelligent and curious. Neko escaped my fenced yard 4 times by digging, and I have heard that some Shibas can jump and scale fences up to 8ft. So I defitly needed something. I’ve tested this on myself and the “shock” is not so bad if you stay below 20 it just allows the dog to “hear” you in stressful or loud/distracting situations, and it lets them connect the command with the action without you chasing them or forcing them into it. I associate the commands sit, stay, Come, place, free, off and heel with the unit and now she is such an amazing dog, and I don’t have to worry!!eri.v

The Dogtra Arc collar is just what my American Treeing Feist, 11 month puppy needed. I had borrowed the same collar from my daughter for about a month, but she needed it back, so for the past two months he had begun to get a little independent in the woods. As soon as I put the new Arc collar around his neck, he was a changed dog. Even without paging him, he began to hunt about 75 yards out and would return to check on me every few minutes. Whenever he gets out of sight, and seems to wander too long, I simply "page" him about three seconds and he comes running. Only twice in the past week have I had to stimulate him, somewhere between level 6 and 11. Then for a day or two after that, only the pager button is needed to turn him around. This was exactly as described. I really like the quick release. Makes it much easier to put on and take off my dog. We were unable to walk our dog before this collar. He would pull to the point of choking himself out. We tried several collars and harnesses before going with the Prong collar. It took a couple of days to get him used to wearing the collar. I didn't think this would work on the 1st day. He pulled hard and it pinched him. He got scared and refused to move. We were patient worked with him slowly, 5 minutes at a time. I purchased this collar after ordering the same collar on Amazon only to be disappointed with a generic prong collar made in China (I've seen more than one supposed "Herm Sprenger" product have this problem on Amazon – that is, advertising the real thing and then shipping out something generic.) I am very happy that I ordered through 1800petsupplies, as I received an authentic Herm Sprenger prong collar. I started using this type of collar on my first German Shepherd and needed a second collar after getting him a brother. Walks with the two of them on prong collars are enjoyable because even though they both have "loose leash" training – they still need a little correction to be truly loose leash walkers. Herm Sprenger prong collar brought about immediate change in a previous out-of-control lab. I watched several YouTube videos to learn how to train a dog with this collar – a must do! No more electronic collar. I put on H/S collar when ready for a walk and we have an enjoyable time outside. A neighbor came out to comment on the change. I needed a 20" but had to buy an 18" plus 2 extra links. Everything I saw online said to keep link diameter to 3mm or less.Stuart

I am dog trainer, I have been using Electric Collars for over 15 years. I was married with another major brand for me it was the best brand on electric collars I even refused to try new ones. One day I was traveling to a seminar in Denver with my Mondioring sport dog and the TSA at the airport remove my 2 electric collars from my carry on bag. Once in the seminar I met a participant who has an extra 300TS and she offered to sell the collar to me I was in need of a collar so I agree and bought the collar from her. At the end of the 1rst day of the seminar I was almost convinced that the 300TS was superior to my other collars even my most expensive one. When I came back home I begin trying the 300TS with new dogs and I found it was far superior at every level. Let's begin, the handheld unit is very light and still fell very solid the buttons placement are very intuitive and is almost impossible to deliver the wrong correction to your dog, The vibration mode can be switched to sound mode which is the way I train my recall I always disable the vibrate mode and use the sound mode this great with skeptical people around electric collars. There is 2 delivery buttons the black which is the stem mode and the red which is the boost and deliver up to 20 times your stem level but thiscan be modified to fit you dogs needs, The level of electricity can be locked making impossible to shock your dog. The receiver has light which it can be us as flashlight or to locate your dog in those real dark nightsringdogs

Highly recommend! My dog never came when called . Now she does . She had other really unwanted behaviors that we had such a hard time getting rid of like nipping at our knees to get attention, pulling on her collar, bark at other dogs, and even rip the leash out of our hands while trying to walk her and run crazily through the backyard. We've tried everything- positive reinforcement, harnesses, muzzles,all types of collars and leashes-nothing…ever…worked… After a bit of training I don’t even have to press the button, She knows it’s there. It took me awhile to really use this product consistently, but I'm glad I did. I have a stubborn bulldog mix that I rescued from my local animal shelter and she had lots of bad habits that were getting worse over time. My dog's biggest problems were leash pulling, not listening to come/sit, jumping on our bed and – worst of all – aggression toward other dogs, usually while on walks, and even my husband. I looked into sending her away to a local training camp that was very expensive. When I got their paperwork, one of the terms of agreement was you had to buy and use this model of training collar. Before spending thousands of dollars, I decided to try to train her myself using this collar and send her to camp if it didnt work since I would have to buy and learn to use the collar either way. I highly recommend educating yourself properly first before you start training your dog with ANY e-collar. I watched all of the training videos on the official e-collar technologies website, ecollar.com, and that helped alot with training my dog. Now, walks are actually fun and I'm not worried about my dog hurting my husband or other dogs, and I'm not stressed out by my dog's behavior anymore. I cant emphasize enough to start slow with the remote to avoid freaking the dog out – a lot of bad behavior comes from anxiety and fear, you don't want to make it worse. I have always been apprehensive of shock collars, but my dog was back-tracking on her training. She has always behaved very well on a leash, just to forget that training when the leash comes off. In only 2 weeks of use, this collar has worked like a charm! I have only had to shock once- the vibration and beep modes are enough to correct her. Both the collar and remote batteries are still charged after 2 weeks – I haven't had to recharge yet. Also, the SportDog website has a ton of articles, FAQs, and links to videos to assist in training and proper use of the collar. I had a waterproof beeper before. I learned quickly after drowning it. It is not submersible. Now. I know the difference. And this one is a keeper. I love its freedom. I love to walk around the neighborhood pond with our dog, Louise. She loves to play fetch, Especially in the pond. When others walk by she wants to greet them enthusiastically. She normally follows my commands. But when people are involved she can be out of control happy. Anyway this beeper let’s her enjoying fetching in the water, and obeying my “here” command as well. We have a golden retriever that we have tried to train, but unfortunately she remains completely out of control. We decided to try a chock collar as a last resort and decided on this one because the specs seemed really good for the price. It has worked so great. We are still in the process of training, but having this reinforces what we are teaching her and we are finally seeing progress! We are planning on getting a second dog when we are feeling like we have this one under control, so having two separate shock collars that can both be controlled by one remote will be really convenient! absolute junk! I domt know how they claim this is water proof when tape is used on the connection board inside the housing of the collar. I have no idea what it was securing, but I suspect it had something to do with when the unit is being charged. I have 2 chihuahua's and even at level 30 they didn't respond. I only used it for a short while and put it away for winter. When I tried to use it again just recently in the spring I discovered the units didn't work. I guess the scotch tape lost its adhesiveness I bought a pet safe system and level one gave me the result I needed.martha

This really worked awesome. I have a 3 year old golden retriever who constantly barked all day and night. Neighbors called animal control about the barking and they came to our home and warned us. Then a week or two later that neighbor came over and knocked at the door. Said his family was up all night because of the barking.. our dog barked at anything and went ballistic when spotting another dog or cat… We thought there was no hope. So we bought this collar and within two days (using the vibration ~ Not shock) he has completely stopped barking. It has been amazing. I would recommend this to anyone having similar problems.
