I love this feeder! When our Basset was younger, he had a companion and she would clean up his face after he drank from his dish. She passed on at 13 and he was left on his own. After he drinks, the contents of his water dish have become almost a jello-like substance~~a petrol 30/weight concoction which lands on the kitchen floor. Plus, prior to buying this feeder his ears wound up in both the water and food dishes. Yuck! This feeder has almost completely conquered this problem. I worried that the dishes in the feeder were too close together and food would wind up in the water dish but this didn't happen. I'm really happy with this dog dish. I needed something slim but sturdy and this works so well. My dog is naturally skittish anyway, so he's a bit freaked out over this new approach to eating, but with some coaxing I have no doubt he'll get there. I was pretty sure I had gone back to my cart and selected the medium and was sent the small, but we have a schnauzer, so it'll still work just fine and has so far. Make sure you have the right size selected. The bowls are nice and don't feel cheap. I like that they have kind of a texture to them. My dog is older and has lost some teeth, so having the texture actually helps him pick the food out of the bowl easier. He is fed raw dog food, so it's wet when he eats it. Other bowls we tried were glossy and he pushed a lot of the food out while eating. We saw similar dishes at PetCo for the same price. I would definitely recommend this dog dish.Amy

I needed a second food stand so our Granddog, a terrier mutt, would not abscond with our Labrador retriever’s food bowls containing any uneaten food and scatter it in the living room. So, the metallic bowl moved and made a noise when she was eating her food. It scared her, and she jumped back. Now, she will not approach the bowl. Not even when using the Pyrex bowls. I did like these bowls even though I did return them. The reason for the return was because I thought they were the bowls that were able to be turned around to be filled without entering the kennel (for people feeding our animals while we are away). It is a beautiful feeder but only 4 months later it is split all along the top of it, from one side to the other. This feeder is kept in my bedroom as back-up or 'night time' feeder for one dog, so there is not a lot of abuse, if any so I am really disappointed that it has not lasted even 6 months. And the bowls are shallow so they do not hold much water or food.
