These collars work great with a little bit of time and training. After a year of use, with supervision, I can now take my dogs (Basenji & G.Shep) outside on our 3 acres without the collars because they have now learned the boundaries. My favorite feature of these collars is the nightlight and the beep function. The nightlight is perfect for going out at night and keeping my eyes on where each dog is located. The beep function is fantastic, my dogs have learned the beep means to turn around and come back. During training I used the shock function (level 8 & I did test the level of intensity on my own leg) only a handful of times when absolutely necessary and it's never used now. Both dogs now respond to the beep and if they're chasing a deer they'll stop to the vibrate function. The two CONS I have with these collars are the rubber covers for the progs come off so easily when the dogs are wrestling and get lost constantly. The other con is that I've had the collars close to a year now and the rechargeable batteries within the device are dying. The collars are on charge constantly now so that they are charged up for when they are needed. The collar dies within about 8 hours before it needs a charge even if it's turned off. Whereas when I first got them the charge lasted about a week. This is after treating them correctly, turning off when not in use and only charging when needed.Elizabeth R.

I have used this collar for 2-3 years now, I went with it as it is one of the highest rated collars when researched. I do run into technical difficulties as you do with anything else and have had no problem with having them replaced. I favorite part is the range and diverse control settings. When my dogs are out of the yard, I just hit the sound button and they know they have went to far and to get back. They come usually immediately. My least favorite part is the product does not seem to last very long.. in the two to three years I’ve used this, I have had to get a few replaced and all with different problems. I recently bought a brand new set of two, and I am very happy. I just have a problem with one of them flashing the green light constantly while the device is on and the battery life on that specific collar does not last. Overall still my favorite collar, although I haven‘t used anything else!Sarah

I love how the vibration & shock can be set from 0-99. The sound tones are also pitched slightly different for each collar & has the option to add a third collar. I’ve had this for months & the battery in the remote lasts extremely long. I think I’ve only charged it once. The collars last days as well. The only thing I wish was easier is the ability to switch over from each channel. When you switch from shock to vibrate, the first click is to switch over, then the second click actually vibrates the collar (& vice versa). When switching over to the other channel, you have to follow the same procedure. Which is fine for normal circumstances. But, when it’s an emergent situation, that extra time it takes to shock/ vibrate the other collar can make a huge difference & lead to a struggle in a stressful situation.Erin

We've been using this bark collar on our German Shepherd and it's working! He barks at everyone out the front window or while on car rides and his bark is very loud. I've tried other collars in the past that give off a beeping noise and can be controlled by a remote control, but that beeping sound scares my mini poodle too much so we had to stop using it. I was excited to try this collar knowing it releases a different type of sound. So far it distracts the GSD and works to deter him from barking. We adopted a dog who is a nervous guy and not food motivated. He would bark at people walking by our house and wouldn’t come when he was called. Four months ago we picked up a 3 year old yellow lab at a shelter near Denver. The dog is lovable, has had some hunting experience, but was WILD when we got him. It was necessary to keep him tethered at all times, or he was GONE for 20 minutes pursuing some scent in the nearby forest (we back up to public land). I bought the sport dog 425x for my lab a few months ago & loved it but it recently fell off him while we were walking on a trail and I was never able to find it. I purchased this one as I wanted a wireless version vs the perimeter one I had to bury. We use this when we go fishing as well as around the house. We have only had to use the continuous shock once at level 2. The tone works so well we dont really need the other features but we have them just in case, our dog decides to be really stubborn in the future. My favorite is how easy it is to use, charge and the fact the tone is the best way to get my dog's attention. It has not taken long for him to know the remote goes to his collar and that just showing him he knows to heel or the tone sound will come on and get his attention quickly. My sister is purchasing one as well since my purchase, as she has seen how much it has helped our strong willed dog. He just needed a little extra guidance for his safety as we live off a highway and next to woods with coyotes. Literally bought this as my second attempt first was a petsafe wireless fence and it wasn’t as user friendly as this petsport with a remote. I’m able to keep basic corrections in house and outside in the yard! I was worried it wouldn’t be small enough for my mini Heeler but the collar comes with an abundant amount of holes for proper fit on anything ! Supper pleased with the collar and the three bases it has for training. The beep tone the one hit simulation and the longer hit stimulation gives me theee options to ask my dog according to what she’s doing. I like that it can be supper mild and allow her the chance to be asked nicely and then reinforced mildly and then reinforcement with a sterner setting. A true life saver. My pup was running out to the neighbors across the street and up to meet cars it literally only took thirty mins in house training on basics and then outside yard training for a little under an hour! I am now no longer stressed about her getting hurt she comes right back to me and treats me as I am her safe spot! I had borrowed the same collar from my daughter for about a month, but she needed it back, so for the past two months he had begun to get a little independent in the woods. As soon as I put the new Arc collar around his neck, he was a changed dog. Even without paging him, he began to hunt about 75 yards out and would return to check on me every few minutes. Whenever he gets out of sight, and seems to wander too long, I simply "page" him about three seconds and he comes running. Is this item a replacement for the RFA-577 model? The button on the training collar wore out and will not turn on the module anymore. I have gotten a solid two years out of the collar and I am very pleased with the results of responsible training for my dog. *Dominoe is a very well behaved dog and I am constantly getting compliments on his behavior. had the 2 collar set and ordered a 2nd remote shortly following. one of the collars has already stopped working. upon inspection, I found water damage inside the cover and the circuit board has corrosion all over. I bought these for a young German Shepherd and a young yellow lab. The lab responds well to the vibrate for now. But the shock on 99 (highest level) doesn’t phase her no matter how tight the collar is. She doesn’t even respond to the vibrate. She has been trained on other collars. This one does nothing to her. The lab is responding to the vibrate for now. But we will see how well it sticks. If you want a quality collar this is not it. I guess it’s what I get for going with a cheaper collarAli

This is an expensive bark collar and it should last more than 9 months. We did not use it daily but after 9 months the bark collar stopped working and the warranty is only for 30 days.Jfan1962

Good unit. All you have to do to change the battery is be gadget person. Obviously it was assembled so disassemble it very carefully get the battery part number and order one. Or you could buy it with an extended Asurion plan on Amazon. I had high hopes. But this product is soooo cheaply made. And the recording device is so bad, you cannot make out the words you record. It comes out garbled. Does not come with batteries (a personal pet peeve) and you have to buy a special tool in order to unscrew and open the panel to access the place where the batteries go. OK I needed to get my younger boy to check himself with the over excessive barking but I never wanted to use anything like the shock collar which to me is a little inhumane. The one thing I noticed that did work is spraying him with a water bottle,however that’s not practical when he’s far away in the yard or trying to chase him down to do it. This was the perfect solution I can’t believe I didn’t know about this! It fit him perfect was easy to adjust with plenty of room till the perfect fit so I’m sure it’ll fit almost all dogs. It was very easy to set up you just pop one of the little spray refill cartridges which it came with two,unscented and citronella and so far we are on the unsented. It has a USB charging cable which was also convenient. Although in my pic I have the collar on his back it has to go under his neck I just did that for the picture you might have to trim your dogs fur under his neck which I did and it worked much better. The battery life is awesome all depending on how much your dog barks we are on almost 2 months the first week or two before your dog gets used to it it will use more obviously. Honestly this is the best thing totally safe humane great battery life easy to charge and at least for us and the most important thing..IT WORKS!Oakleyblue

My dog has her mouthy moments and like yo bark at everyone that walks by my house. I recently tried the Premier Pet™ Spray Bark Collar to try and calm her from obnoxiously barking. The collar adjusted to her neck size with ease, along with a easy to use buckle. The collar has an easy opening small door that you load with the spray deterrent that holds 35 sprays each. When I put it on my dog and she began to bark the collar went off and sprayed her. She immediately stopped barking and started to run in circles around me seemingly confused as to what what happening – but she stopped barking! After a few instances of this happening she caught on and the barking stopped! The collar definitely does exactly what it is made to do, and I find it to be alot less cruel then a shock collar! We have a 4 year old German Shepherd who has never barked at anything until just recently. The more we socialize her with other dogs she learns more behaviors. Some not so good ones kinda like her barking at people walking down the street, or a squirrel in the yard, or sometimes she just barks to hear herself! This. This collar was a life saver! My dog is very well trained and very obedient but didn't want to listen when we would redirect her from barking. It seemed to just make it worse if anything. Even though we only had to use this for 2 days she learned very quickly. The collar was very effective. A small sprits and she was distracted as to why she was barking in the first place. We did follow up with positive reinforcements along with the collar. If she didn't bark with it on, she received praise and a treat. I highly recommend this to any barking dog owner. This really is a tremendously different product. 127 settings seemed overwhelming to me. As I use this more and more as I train my dog, I’m able to see what that really means. In the past, collars I’ve used only had a few settings, so moving up or down a notch so to say was a dramatic difference, while the dogtra allows me to fine tune the stim very minimally until I find my dogs “number” for the variety of situations. I feel this is really helping the bond with my dog and therefore training is improved.MountainGSD

I bought the Dogtra 280C to use with my very active and agile 1 year old Toy Austrailian Sheppard for stopping unwanted behaviors like digging up my lawn and attacking the cat. The transmitter and receiver both hold charges for days, and easily sync by just holding the two units next to one another at the red dots for a second. The 1/2 mile range is more than enough to reach out and touch her for a friendly reminder to come in for supper. The LCD screen is super nice to see stimulation level at night or when I don't have my glasses with me. I have always been apprehensive of shock collars, but my dog was back-tracking on her training. She has always behaved very well on a leash, just to forget that training when the leash comes off. In only 2 weeks of use, this collar has worked like a charm! I have only had to shock once- the vibration and beep modes are enough to correct her. I had a waterproof beeper before. I learned quickly after drowning it. It is not submersible. Now. I know the difference. And this one is a keeper. I love its freedom. I love to walk around the neighborhood pond with our dog, Louise. She loves to play fetch, Especially in the pond. When others walk by she wants to greet them enthusiastically. Purchased this collar from Chow Down pet supplies. It had absolutely zero effect on my dog. He completely ignored whatever sound was coming from the device. I threw this away and got a much pricier static correction collar that has customizable settings. No comparison, much more effective… don't waste your money on cheap pet safe products.D Cooper

When I first got my puppy at 6 months old he would constantly bark. I was told at the store this is not a very good bark training collar, but if I wanted something inexpensive to try it and if it didn’t work I could return it. I was then hesitate that it didn’t work, but still tried it and loved it! Every time he barked you could see the light flash on it. 1 downfall is the collar can be easily rotated around the neck no matter how tight you have it if the scratches at it. It needs to be kept in the front of the dogs neck, and as high up the neck as possible. So you have to keep adjusting it, but I also found it shocks them if they are doing something they aren’t supposed to, and when you yell loudly at them it shocks them as well. So it serves a multipurpose of bark control, and obedience. I only had to use it on my dog for less than a week, and he stopped the constant barking, chewing, and was 100% more obedient! I’d recommend it to anyone who doesn’t want to spend a crazy amount of money on training collars, or bark collars! Worked great!Lauj

my dog can’t even shake his head without getting a correction. Almost any sound cause him to get a correction so it is scary and confusing for him. It would be nice if there was a sensitivy adjustment but the collar as designed is not helpful. The average bark of a dog compared to the sounds that are setting this off are not the same and all will cause the dog anxiety due to the false stimulations.Heather52
