My dog suffers from hot spots on his feet and it makes him just miserable as one heals and another pops up in a different spot. My vet recommended I try a shampoo formulated specifically for hot spots and I found this at a major online retailer. A sixteen ounce bottle ran me about $7 as an add on item which I thought was quite economical since my dog is so small and that one bottle should last me through many, many washes. The formula uses Tea Tree Oil, Aloe Vera, Chamomile to calm dry, itchy skin and despite being a bit strong smelling during the bathing process the smell does not linger after drying. After the first bath with this I noticed a definite improvement in my dog's spots and he seemed more relaxed and less prone to lick the sore areas. After a month of weekly baths his spots were gone and they have not reappeared since. He also had a bit of a dandruff problem during the summer as he likes to sit outside and sunbathe which dries out his skin. I've tried the Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Antiseptic and Anti fungal Spray for Dogs and Cats on a few of our outside cats. They've been deflead but one still kept scratching and losing fur just above her tail. I'm not sure if it's an allergic reaction to the fleas or if it's the result of a thyroid problem. But we tried this spray and the itching stopped immediately. It's been almost 3 weeks and she still isn't scratching it. I also wanted to try this on some ringworm that a few of the outside cats have. I've been spraying this on for almost 3 weeks now but haven't really seen any improvement with the ringworm spots that I'm treating. Ringworm can respond slow to treatments anyway so I'm not sure if this is going to help with that or not. The spray is a pump and it has a light citrus smell, kind of like oranges. It will not harm your pet if they lick it. It didn't list a minimum age that you can use it on. It contains Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Keratin, and Aloe Vera. It's listed as an antifungal, antimicrobial, and antibacterial. To use this you just spray the area tell really wet, twice daily for a week, then once daily for another week. I read the reviews for this product but was still a bit skeptical for it to actually work. One of my cats (2 yr old orange tabby) literally scratched the size of a 50 cent bare spot (literally overnight) in center of his back below shoulder blade. By the end of the day the circle was warm red inflamed and gross. Being on a tight budget I did my research for home remedies. First I began applying a year old vet prescribed Dermalone antibiotic that was prescribed for one of my other cats for 3 days but area got worse. Then began applying Neosporin for 2 days lightly on and around scab now and ( luckily the spot was where he could not reach to lick off) and it did nothing as well. A week later purchased this product, followed the directions and a week later the area was completed healed. Scab dried and fell off and new skin looks perfect and normal. I was a little skeptical about this product as it didnt have any reviews, never the less I went ahead and bought it anyway. It was easy enough to apply to my 6 month old kitten, he didnt put up that much of a fuss with my spraying it on him and rubbing it in, and I was also very surprised that he didnt start going crazy afterwards like other anti itch products I had used before, causing stinging and irritation. Also doesnt leave a lingering pesticide smell either, but rather smells quite pleasant. There is no dog more allergy ridden and itchy than my poor pooch. For the past year he's been getting a sore on his belly ( like ecsma) that comes and goes. When it's here he licks and licks and licks to the point of bleeding and crying. We ended up putting a cone on him whenever we weren't home or even just not in the room with him. After 9 months of this he was pretty depressed and the ointment medication from the vet was working like a bandade. As soon as he was healed it would all start over again. Our pooch also fell into depression and nervousness from wearing the cone and having us scold him whenever he would lick. When we first used this product we noticed the following: (1) it was easy and clean, not goupy, (2) it smells awesome!, (3) it didn't bother our dog's very sensitive skin and seemed to help it heal faster, and (4) our pooch immediatley had NO interest in licking the area.
