I have always been apprehensive of shock collars, but my dog was back-tracking on her training. She has always behaved very well on a leash, just to forget that training when the leash comes off. In only 2 weeks of use, this collar has worked like a charm! I have only had to shock once- the vibration and beep modes are enough to correct her. With this collar i was able to train my hunting dog to have 100 percent recall in all situations, in a handful of sessions. My previous yard collar did not have enough range. I also bought the beeper which is useful in heavy cover. The charging system makes the collar absolutely waterproof which is good. And when the dial broke in the field it was a friendly two minute phonecall to Sportdog to have a new transmitter on its way to me.

I purchased this one as I wanted a wireless version vs the perimeter one I had to bury. We use this when we go fishing as well as around the house. We have only had to use the continuous shock once at level 2. The tone works so well we dont really need the other features but we have them just in case, our dog decides to be really stubborn in the future. My favorite is how easy it is to use, charge and the fact the tone is the best way to get my dog's attention. It has not taken long for him to know the remote goes to his collar and that just showing him he knows to heel or the tone sound will come on and get his attention quickly. My sister is purchasing one as well since my purchase, as she has seen how much it has helped our strong willed dog. He just needed a little extra guidance for his safety as we live off a highway and next to woods with coyotes. Literally bought this as my second attempt first was a petsafe wireless fence and it wasn’t as user friendly as this petsport with a remote. I’m able to keep basic corrections in house and outside in the yard! I was worried it wouldn’t be small enough for my mini Heeler but the collar comes with an abundant amount of holes for proper fit on anything ! Supper pleased with the collar and the three bases it has for training. The beep tone the one hit simulation and the longer hit stimulation gives me theee options to ask my dog according to what she’s doing. Unfortunately the second time I went to charge the collar, the connection between the collar and the charger would not make contact. I chatted with cabelas and asked if they could send me a new charger dongle and they said I wanted that option I would need to work directly with Garmin. They gave me the option to return by mail, but I didn't want to be without the collar for that long. Instead I drove to the store to exchange it but they did not have the model available in the store. I returned it at the store and ordered a replacement on line. We bought this a couple months ago! Best investment we ever made! Our dog doesn't like the neighbours dog and would bark like crazy every time he was out in the yard. put the ecollar on him and only had to use the shock button a couple times and it stopped the bad behaviour in its tracks! The 435 X series is really nice and has a small remote control that fits into my hand (I am only 5'4). The XS series is stronger (for large dogs that can be stubborn) and was too much for my need… that's why I really wanted the X series. The 825 X is the same as the 425 X except is has a longer distance reach (1/2 mile) but the remote is a little big bigger. Works great…. make sure you read the manual for the different settings and understand that this is not a training tool per say but a corrective tool (meaning your dog has to know and understand commands BEFORE using it)…Do NOT use as a punitive tool. The nice thing is this item allows you to choose either tone, vibration, or static mode. 99% of the time I only need to use vibration for my dog to get his attention (he cN get sobfocused on a scent that he doesn't pay attention to my commands). He sometimes takes off after a rabbit/wild pig etc. and that's when I have to use the static mode to quickly get his attention away from his chase. I really like that it is waterproof (my dog swims into ponds and rivers)…some other brands claim to be waterproof but really mean to say water resistant! I have tried everything I knew with this dog, built a relationship with him, treats, toys, praise and I wasn’t able to find anything that would motivate him to actually follow the commands that I knew he knew. I was afraid to use a “shock collar” because I thought it was going to be cruel but it had been 5 months where this 3 year old pit was with me and there seemed to be no progress. Hi. We just started using the collar on Saturday. It is amazing. Cleo is not uncomfortable and more settled. No more bunny hopping & barking (large german shepherd) at the front door when the postman comes. The neighbours are not complaining. Researching and ordering the collar from the Bark Control website was seamless. The bark collar was received in short time via Australia Post Express. It appears to be well made and fairly robust. Operation of and fitting the collar is easy, directions are included and are simple to follow. We've had no barking complaints from our neighbours since changing to this collar so I guess it's working. it's far superior to our previous vibration type which was pretty much useless on our cattle dog. I may have used the shocking part maybe 5 times at the most now the only thing I use on it is the warning because my dog knows when I call him he comes running. I have also trained him not to go out of my gate and the only thing I had to do was warn him when he got close to the gate and he has learned not to even go close to the gate. He is now 7 years old and when it is his time to go to heaven the next puppy I get I will defiantly be introducing my new dog this collar. It is the easiest way to train a dog. I don't think it is to harsh once they know what happens to them if they don't listen you never haft to use the shock part anymore. If you do need to use the shock part it is because they really need it. I highly recommend this to anyone that is trying to train their do It is well worth every penny and it will last forever as long as you take care of it. I purchased an orange one and a black one. The orange one is fine and works great. The black one is clearly a refurbished piece of garbage. It was nice being able to confirm that because I purchased two (a burden that should not be in any consumer with only one dog). The beeping (during noise only function) is at a significantly lower decimal than the orange one. AND…the stimulation is much weaker. They will not send me a new item. With this collar i was able to train my hunting dog to have 100 percent recall in all situations, in a handful of sessions. My previous yard collar did not have enough range. I also bought the beeper which is useful in heavy cover. The charging system makes the collar absolutely waterproof which is good. And when the dial broke in the field it was a friendly two minute phonecall to Sportdog to have a new transmitter on its way to me.

I wanted to revamp my review but I don't see a way so I am writing a new one. I had this collar and it seemed like it was getting weaker and weaker but (after trial and error) I realized it wasn't the collar or remote, it was my dog's fur! When her winter coat came in it was shielding her from the prongs and making it harder to feel. Once I figured it out and started moving it back and forth on her neck (right under her chin) to get the probes in the right spot it worked great! We have had this for 11 months now and couldn't be happier. It works like a charm and SportDog and LLBean are awesome to work with. So glad I didn't give up on it!nmob2004
As the owner of 2 of the older Sport Dog collars I had become a believer in the quality and ease of use of their electronic collars. Not so on the 875. I expected an improved system but I found just the opposite. The sound and shock buttons have been relocated from the front to the sides. Sound on the left and stimulation of the right. In the action if depressing the sound button it is all to easy to squeeze your hand and also activate one of the shock buttons. You have to program in various operational options. The user interface is not intuitive and you pretty much need the manual to set/reset your desired mode. The on/off switch on the collar is far more difficult to activate than the old models. On levels 1 and 2 there was zero stimulation on my unit. (tested on myself to verify). The sound level also is very soft. I tried it for several months thinking I would get used to it but finally returned it. I did like the orange color but that was my only like.goanna

It is not user friendly. The icons for the dog and your location are too small and the contrast on the screen makes it hard to see the little icons in sunny conditions. The collar that came in the box is not bright green as it shows on the box. It is a medium green, harder to see on the dog than the bright green I thought I was getting. Doesnt fit a 3/4" shock box be careful. Cut to size. You don't need another adjuster for the collar length. This collar is just a replacement for a shock collar collar(not a regular walking collar although you could use ot for that if you really wanted) so it has to be flat with no buckles to fit through the shock box. Works fine on a 1" SportDog shock box.Doowllams
