Google brought me to the natural dog company because my dogs paws were the stuff off nightmares. Paw pads that look like hair which I learned was hyperkeratosis. Supposedly there is no cure for this. But I thought at the very least this would give him some relief as he must have been in some pain. Well he looks so much better already. The paws got soft enough that I was able to "trim" the filaments off sightly. Yes it was as gross as it sounds lol. He is not fully cured yet but his paws are so much closer to normal already. He is also in less pain as he is more tolerant of me putting the product on. Once he gets a bit more healed I will use the skin soother in-between the toes. The only con is that this stuff goes fast. I thought this was way too good to be true. My dog- Victoria, a catahoula- has severe allergies and has to be on a special diet, take medications, etc. even then, she has still had really bad allergies and chews her paws and legs. While she absolutely hates this stuff- I don’t know if it is the smell (it smells good, though), but on day 2 I saw a significant change in the redness and itchiness. I was such a huge skeptic because I’ve tried everything and I wasn’t expecting this to work and it has honestly been the only think that is not a medication that has helped. I run and walk my border collie 7-9 miles everyday and his paws were always rough so I decided to try this…within 1 week his cracks were almost all gone and his pads were really bad…deep skin cuts are almost fully gone!!! I bought this for my one dog's really dry paws. He'd scratch me with his paw pads every time he'd put them on me. Honestly, it did work well; within a few days his paws were already looking and feeling better. However, he hates having his paws touched, so it's a bit of a struggle each time (despite easing him into it). Our dog twice got foxtail seeds in his paws which lead to serious infections. He missed a hunting trip and the second time his paw was huge with the infection and had to be lanced. Poor fella. We took our Newfie/Lab to the vet to get vaccinated for a training class. Shortly after his shots, he developed a skin allergy with two hot spots on each hip. So I have a beabull, mostly English bulldog. He’s a 7/8 mix. Out of nowhere his cute little black nose started getting crusty and cracked. I waited a while and it didn’t let up. A friend said there was nothing you could do but I found this online. I didn’t think it would work but we are on day four and his nose is DRASTICALLY improved. I bought this for my dog’s (14 year old Shar Pei) keratin buildup on his nose and paws. It dissolved the stuff great and I was able to wipe off the stuff on his paws after one application. That was really impressive. My dog has fairly mild Hyperkeratosis but his nose gets a fairly thick layer of buildup, and this product allows you to remove it fairly easily after a few applications over a couple days and a cooperative pooch. I was really impressed with how well it worked. I use it now preventatively which prevents bad buildup on his nose and paws, so all in all I’m certainly a big fan. I recommend at least the 2oz can if you think you’ll use it on the paws. The 2 oz can generally lasts me a couple months even with multiple applications per day. I got the small 1.5oz pawtector. I don't know what I was thinking by getting the small one (would be great for a small dog or on the go), but it has helped relieve and protect my golden retrievers paws from the blazing sidewalks in the summertime. I have rescue pit mix that gets nervous when I put stuff on his paws, especially things that are scented. These are unscented and he's less nervous and actually let's me put this on his feet! Well I gave a puppy a Sussex Spaniel.Very rare breed. They have big paws. So I have been on a mission to use products that start him on the right” paw” Ha ha. Keep this on hand for trimming our guinea pig's nails. His front nails are clear/white, so it's pretty easy to see the quick, but his back nails are dark and once we (my GF, I hold him) got his quick. Luckily we had this stuff on hand, and it stopped bleeding basically as soon as we dipped his nail in it. My GF is going to school to be a vet tech, and she prefers the powder form, so that's what I bought.
