Also, the heater will not come back in when the power comes back in so forget about using a timer between the outlet and the heater plug. I bought it for my old dog's house, I put a sheepskin in there but it still needed more heat, This worked perfectly in our outdoor dog house. At -15°C the inside of the house was 0°C. We mounted it on the ceiling which was at a 75° angle and it worked perfectly. This heater on Low gets very hot to the touch. I would not mount it on the side of a dog house where a dog could fall asleep on it. I bought a remote digital thermometer so I could monitor the temperature in there. It gave me such peace of mind knowing my old girl was warm and safe. PS, use sheepskins in the dog's house, the skin part prevents moisture from passing through into their bodies!LHunt

Purchased the hound heater to place in a insulated dog house in my outside 4 dog kennel in Michigan. Had a below zero cold spell, but the dogs were tucked inside sleeping any time we went to check on them. Warm and dry. I installed it myself without a problem. I received this product as part of a Vox Box campaign, and was so excited. My cat loves heating pads so I thought he’d love this, but unfortunately he doesn’t. I don’t think it’s any fault of the product, just him being a finicky cat! The product itself is a great size – comparable to a bath mat. Easy to store, very soft, and the color is nice. Bought this for our 7 month old Pyrador puppy, who has already outgrown one house. It was easy to put together, and the sturdist dog house we've ever seen. Plus being insulated is perfect for a cold Indiana winter. She's huge and still growing and loves it. The first night she slept in front of it despite dog treats inside. It’s a great doghouse. He’s already tried chewing the top roof corners off but it hasn’t hurt the integrity of the house. He also won’t get in it. I’m not sure why, because he did get in his crate when it was in his dog pen. He’s a 9 month old GSP. I’m hopeful once he reaches adulthood he’ll stop eating it and actually get in it. I’d totally buy it again though. It’s a great doghouse! I just have a strange dog. He also can’t get on top of it because there isn’t any grip and he slides off. That helps with him not jumping out of the 6’ tall pen.
We got this house for a new Boxador puppy so that it can spend most of its time outside. We found it to be a good product. It was easy to put together and does stay much warmer than the outside air. In rainy weather, it stays dry. It is a very large house which would work for a lab or other large dog. No problems with the dog using the door. Only suggestion: add nuts and bolts for the 6 screws. Screwing metal into plastic is not a real good plan. I'm assuming the company will have replacement parts (door, window, etc…) available for my investment!Y Robinson

I bought a heated house for my (4) cats – it was set up in my unheated workshop. I noticed that one cat liked being inside, while 3 did not seem interested. Over the summer, I disassembled the house to clean it, and to clean the cover on the heated pad, and noticed that all of the cats were comfortable with just the pad. So, I ordered several more pads, and now have the house, plus several pads, placed in the shop, as well as happy, warm cats. The only 'downside' I can see. Several of the cats like them so much on cold winter days, that they don't go outside as much. They act as if they are almost drugged by the comfort of the pad, and sleep much of the day away. 🙂 (And, now, I am going to buy another one, for our dog.)Colliam7
I bought this last week for my outside dog. She is not a fan. I would not recommend this product at all. The product has flaws that need to be corrected. For example the cover that comes with it is a joke, dog moves one time it’s off. It should be like a pillow case with a Sherpa top. The squeaky material makes my dog and the neighbors dog shy away from it. Personally there is nothing soft about the plastic. This may work for cats but I find it hard to believe that dogs like it at all. I will be taking it back for a full refund Almost $100.00 and a 1 1/2 hour drive very very disappointed. My newly adopted dog needs hip surgery (we knew this when we adopted him), and I ordered this bed based on the reasonable price and good reviews. I was not expecting much, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the foam insert and the nice cozy topper. It fits perfectly in our travel crate, so it's great for the car – no more sliding around in the crate when we're on the move. I had forgotten we had this for the catbed of our 20+ year old Burmese for the last couple years before she died. I have some new chicks and didn't want the danger of a heat lamp inside. I use a basic 60-watt in a clamp lamp in the cage during the day, but didn't want to run it all night. I found the snuggle safe and pulled it out. it's in a box at the back of the cage, with shredded bedding over it. I put them inside the box and close a flap over the door for the night and turn out the light. They stop peeping and settle right in to sleep. I love that the snuggle safe will stay warm longer than the jars of water I was heating up before, and I don't have to worry about electricity and fires overnight when no one's around to keep an eye on them.
