I fed this to my older dog (now almost 11) for 4 years before he developed a sensitivity to poultry. I have another dog, Mia, now whom I fed the puppy version of this food until she was a year old and she loved it, so naturally we moved up to this food once she hit a year old. With all the worry about grain free foods potentially causing heart issues, we’d tried to switch Mia to a grain-inclusive food but she had diarrhea and vomiting when we tried gradually switching her food that progressively got worse. So we switched back to this food and we won’t try to switch off of it again knowing she cannot process grains! The ingredients are high quality for grain-free and there are no by-products. Mia maintains a healthy weight, soft shiny fur, and hasn’t gotten sick her whole life thus far (15 months old). My older dog also did very well on it until we had to switch him because of poultry, and his fur hasn’t been the same on his new food, very lackluster, but that could be due to his age as well. I’m not sure. All in all I highly recommend this food for small breed adult dogs who have to have grain-free food! I also want to note that this food contains taurine, which is suspected to help prevent the heart problems associated with grain-free foods. Thanks Wellness!CM

I have three little dogs–a Terrier mix, a Poodle, and a Shih Zhu. Feeding the first two is easy. They'll eat just about anything and stay healthy and active.Our little Shih Zhu, however, is another story. Most everything makes her vomit…and when she does, it's not pretty, especially during COVID lockdowns where grooming is often deferred (or happens in my ham-fisted way). She looked and acted pathetic.However, with this food, overnight her vomiting stopped. She seems to have more energy and is less grumpy than before, too. She'll never be a little ball of energy like our Poodle and Terrier–she's really more of a cat than a dog in many ways. Like the small kibble. Easier for my older chihuahua to chew. I like the ingredients. My chihuahua gets upset stomach problems a lot, but so far no problems with this food. He sits at the dish till its gone. Before he would walk each piece of food away from the dish with all the other foods. Its been a week now, but so good so far. I have a lazy chow chow who loves treats and has become more low energy as he's aged. We took him to the vet and they suggested this dog food to help manage his weight. The vet weighed him at 55lbs and wanted him at around 48-50 range. Went out and bought this, used the suggested weight feeding goals on the side of the bag and after about 3-4 months we definitely noticed the difference. His shape is more defined? He's doing good!! I own a 7 year old Golden Retriever. He's starting to slow down, and isn't looking as fit as he used to. This food; Hills Science Diet Perfect Weight has 24% protein, 8% fat & 5% fiber. I like these ratio's. I'm doing a slow transition as directed. So far, my dog is doing fine, in fact, he's picking around his old food (Hills Science Diet Large Breed Adult) & eating the Perfect Weight first. I guess he likes the flavor. My only complaint is that the kibble is quite small compared to the old Large Breed food. I've found that my dog eats it too fast & chokes. The product appeared to be high quality in ingredients. It smelled really good for a dog food. While I did not see a difference in my healthy 11 pound 3 year old chiweenie, she did appear to love the dog food and ate it right up. That being said, over the years, there has been only a hand full of things she has not liked so she is not a picky eater. Having had weight issues in the past (she was a rescue and overweight when I got her), weight management is important to me and I thought this food did a good job. We have an older golden retriever that seems to hold extra weight no matter how little we feed her. We recently decided to change from the grain free food that we've had her on due to the reports of heart problems associated with that diet. Purina Pro Plan is one of the recommended brands and the Weight Management looked like the perfect formulation to try to help our girl drop some weight. If we are able to feed a high quality food in the same volume but with less calories, we feel that her weight will come down over time. There were zero problems with the transition and Fiona LOVES the taste. We've even noticed that she has slightly more energy. The shredded chicken in it is a texture and flavor that she's nuts over. One of my dogs was about 8 pounds overweight, and the other runs a bit thin. Both of them get this Pro Plan food and love it. I followed the bag's guidelines in cutting back on the one girl's feed, and she'd lost the weight in about 2 months. Now she gets the maintenance amount. For my other girl, I give her a bit more than the maintenance, and it's working fine for her, too. The only thing I don't like is that the bag is much longer than needed for 34 pounds. This is the lowest calorie dog food I've been able to find. Per my vet's recommendation I had my Corgi on this for a while. She did lose quite a bit of weight on it and tolerated it well. It just got too expensive to maintain and you can only get it either from your vet or online with a Rx from your vet. She never had any problems on this food. After a good handful of prescription and non prescription foods that just didn’t work for them, I went out on a limb and tried this food after a friend mentioned it. I have a 6 yr old poodle who is so fussy that every bag of dog food I buy I have to throw out. She will only eat what I am eating. She has become overweight and sleeps all day. I had a friend use your adult lite dry food and had outstanding results with it and said I should try it. I was very leary because she is so fussy and wasted so many bags, but I said why not…. so I bought a bag and of course she was like no way am I eating this, but I was determined to make this work. I refused to give her any food other than this new food. She went 4 days without eating anything and I was starting to panic. Day 5 came and she ate it, words cannot express how happy I was. well it has been 2 weeks now and she goes to the dog food bucket and asks to be fed. She is now more full of energy and does not sleep all day long. I am sure she will be dropping to a normal weight very soon. When switching from puppy food to adult, our vet suggested this adult lite. He has eaten this his entire adutl life. (now 12 1/2) He likes it and I get nice firm poops on the walks we take! Win/Win! I fed slightly less than recommended so I could share treats with him. I usually do hard treats, pill pockets (sparingly) and CET Hextra medium once per day. He's about 17 lbs/Bichon Frise. I think they may be a little too pampered and spoiled to be honest. They only like the finer things in life. I have given my dogs Blue Buffalo dog food before, but it was the chicken and rice formula. I knew they would be super excited to try the Beef and rice formula. And I was right!! This formula may be the best formula that Blue Buffalo makes. My dogs went crazy for it. As soon as I opened the bag you should have seen their little noises going. They are both very well behaved dogs and they acted like little kids at a candy store. They LOVED it. The smell is mild and not too overpowering. Some dog food stinks horribly, this was not the case here. It actually had a very pleasant smell to it. My dogs definitely enjoyed it and knew exactly what it was when I opened the bag. We are very satisfied with Fromm's – we started with puppy and have graduated to adult small breed and have nothing but positive things to say. He's a short haired and his coat still feels like when he was a puppy which I solely attribute to the quality ingredients in Fromm's. Fromm's isn't the cheapest but PetFlow has great prices and ships free if we order in larger quantities so we usually just do 30lb at a time (although if PF included Fromm's in the auto ship discount program then we'd definitely do it!). On a per meal basis it's not too expensive and probably doesn't hurt that he's 14lbs and doesn't eat a ton. We began using Fromms for large breeds dog food when we were switching from puppy food to dog food because our black lab, Kona, was having sever diarrhea every time she ate any food. We tried about a dozen other dog foods with no luck when my sister, who owns a Havenise that also experienced digestive issues recommended Fromms dog food. As soon as we switched to Fromms large breed dog food Kona's digestive issues went away. Not only did the food stop the diarrhea but Kona and Delilah, our chocolate lab, love the taste, not to mention every time we visit our vet she is amazed at how shiny our dogs coats are. One of my neighbors actually asked us if we put oil on our dogs coats because they are so shiny and beautiful. I have recommended this dog food to many dog owners who own dogs that are picker eaters or that have digestive issues and time and time again their dogs love this food and any digestive issues seem to go away. Out of the two "diet" foods that Fromm makes we tend to like this one a little bit more than the 5 Star because of the novelty of it's protein being composed mostly or all of ocean fish. We tend to switch back and forth between the 2 Fromm's every few bags, though. This formula in particular seems to really manage and reduce the weight on our girl while not leaving her starving and constantly searching for food. This is a good food for tiny puppers. It’s reasonably priced and pups love it. Nutritious as well. Follow the feeding guidelines. For under 10 lbs 1/3 cup morning and 1/3 cup evening plenty. I also supplement an egg at lunchtime or a bit of fresh pet and green beans or broccoli since mine love them. If you exceed the amount specified they will get fat. My senior bulldog is very picky with what he eats. I have been a Pedigree user for years but as he gets older I know he needs extra nutrients and minerals to help him live as long as possible. This particular brand was great. The pieces are ideal for older dogs with less teeth, made like mini pancakes he had no issue chomping them right down. I noticed he was very chipper when it came to feeding time each and everyday. He seems to be getting up more and moving around outside enjoying the fresh air and even running a bit with the younger dogs. When placed beside a bowl of his previous brand he went to this one and ate every piece. We will continue to use this and hope he loves us out a while longer.Roland70707

We did have her another “top” brand but she's started not wanting to really eat it. Being picky as she does. We tried her on Iams because it's another brand I completely trust have my girls wellbeing in mind. She loves it. Had to actually get her bowl that slows her eating down because she wanted to scarf the whole thing in minutes. Pros – trusted brand. Good price. Good ingredients. Cons – hmm it could have little meaty bits in it like another brand but that's really the only “con” I'm an think of.lena.b

I decided to have my parents' Senior dogs try this. They are getting picky in their older age and completely turned their noses up at the last bag of dog food my parents decided to have them try. However, they seem to really like this food! I like that it is specially formulated for older dogs. One of my parents' dogs has always walked with a limp – he was a stray that wandered onto their property as a pup and they think he was injured by his former owners. His joints have been getting worse and worse lately, so I'm hoping this food might help with that. So far, they're really enjoying it!klouvierre
