I have a 5 year old Teacup Chihuahua.I had him on a different high end dog food since he was 6 weeks old, without weight trouble until last year. He suddenly doubled his weight. I fed this to my older dog (now almost 11) for 4 years before he developed a sensitivity to poultry. I have another dog, Mia, now whom I fed the puppy version of this food until she was a year old and she loved it, so naturally we moved up to this food once she hit a year old. With all the worry about grain free foods potentially causing heart issues, we’d tried to switch Mia to a grain-inclusive food but she had diarrhea and vomiting when we tried gradually switching her food that progressively got worse. So we switched back to this food and we won’t try to switch off of it again knowing she cannot process grains! The ingredients are high quality for grain-free and there are no by-products. Mia maintains a healthy weight, soft shiny fur, and hasn’t gotten sick her whole life thus far (15 months old). My older dog also did very well on it until we had to switch him because of poultry, and his fur hasn’t been the same on his new food, very lackluster, but that could be due to his age as well. I’m not sure. All in all I highly recommend this food for small breed adult dogs who have to have grain-free food! I have three little dogs–a Terrier mix, a Poodle, and a Shih Zhu. Feeding the first two is easy. They'll eat just about anything and stay healthy and active.Our little Shih Zhu, however, is another story. Most everything makes her vomit…and when she does, it's not pretty, especially during COVID lockdowns where grooming is often deferred (or happens in my ham-fisted way). I have been purchasing Beneful for at least 4 years, if memory serves. After receiving some coupons in our newspaper, I decided to purchase Beneful to see if one of my older dogs would have less digestion problems. Logan loves every flavor that Beneful makes! He especially loves his veggies, barley, and rice. These items are very imprtant to Logan's health because they keep him regular. Like older adults, older dogs need dietary items that are good and good for them. Logan likes the Beneful dry also, but he does better on Beneful Wet foods. Our Vet says that even though Logan has been mistreated to the point that he has his digestion problems, Beneful is the best food for him and his 14 yr old system. He still likes his fresh salmon, wild rice, carrots and brussel sprouts he gets every other Sunday, but he's just as happy with his Beneful Chopped Beef and Chopped Salmon to name a couple. 🐕🐩🐶🍖🐾 I have a little pomeranian that is very picky! He's a much older dog who has cataracts and isn't very active. He was a rescue dog when I got him he already had all his ailments. I really like that this food is mostly soft even though it is considered dry dog food. I also like that you could see the vegetables in the food as well! Gus really seem to enjoy this food which was surprising given how picky he actually is! At a good price point and it it looks good! This is a good food for tiny puppers. It’s reasonably priced and pups love it. Nutritious as well. Follow the feeding guidelines. For under 10 lbs 1/3 cup morning and 1/3 cup evening plenty. I also supplement an egg at lunchtime or a bit of fresh pet and green beans or broccoli since mine love them. If you exceed the amount specified they will get fat. We got this dog food for our senior, older, big jointed, larger breeds but OVERWEIGHT dogs. Our overweight dogs hardly have any teeth left and any left strong enough for eating normal superfood dry dog food. They would always whine or just not eat. So we figured we would try this out. Received the four pound bag of Nutro Ultra small breed adult trio of proteins from chicken/lamb/salmon dog food. I do like that it is made with non GMO ingredients and that the first ingredient is real chicken. Purchased two 30 lb. bags for my senior whippet with expectations the quality ingredients would maintain his health. In a fairly short time he developed the runs which I attributed to everything except this kibble. Tried adding rice to his diet, yogurt for digestion and other remedies. Weeks turned into months. One day I decided to remove the kibble from his diet and try another brand. The diarrhea disappeared. Since I had another couple of 30 lb bags I purchased I didn't want to waste the food and put my dog back on this kibble. The runny diarrhea returned. I donated the bags to a neighbor thinking her dog would do better on it. When I checked with her weeks later she said her dog has runny diarrhea and she took her dog off it temporarily. In the meantime my dog has been doing great on another brand with no more diarrhea. What a waste of money at $50 a bag, never mind the risk to my dog's health. We went to the vet with our Rottweiler when she was 9 years old. Her hips were going out, she was having difficulty walking around, and she was just aging rapidly. I’m so glad I found this at Tractor Supply. My Chessie ended up at the vet over half a year ago with a torn CCL. While waiting for her surgery, she was not supposed to use her leg a lot. This lead to her gaining a decent amount of weight. After she got hurt on a hunting trip, I never really adjusted her food for lack of exercise and whatnot. They love it more than any other food they've had before (Purina pro plan, Costco, tractor supply, zignature). I bought Pedigree Small Breed a week ago and my Maltese / Shih Tzu mix loves it! It's very easy for her to chew, the size of the pieces are perfect for her. There are so many brands she hasnt exactly been a fan of at all. Nearly as if she would have to really starve herself to build the courage to eat but not Pedigree foods! With Pedigree, her poop is also showing healthy signs in color, size and texture. I've known about IAMS for 30+ years and has been around since 1946, it's small sized food bits and ingredients is the best dry dog food I've given my puppies to go into for years. The 44lbs bag feeds my 4 large dogs 2 times a day of 2 cups and lasts me about 28 days. Visit the Rams website for information to help choose your IAMS food needs based on your breed and size of dog. FYI – for new puppies, feed them small amounts through out the day for the tummy to adjust to the food and work your way into a 2 times a day feeding of 1 cup and then graduate into 2 cups+ a day as they get to 1 years old. Our dog has been on a special Biome diet dog food for years to help keep his weight in check. He was getting bored with it so we added this Purina One into his diet about 50%. After 2 months we noticed he was throwing up every morning. We talked to our vet and he said that this food has additives that make dogs ill and can cause pancreatitis. His enzymes were high and he was sleeping a lot. We stopped feeding him this food and he was better within a week! I read more about this food and found some articles saying that the acceptable amount of chemicals allowed in this dog food are human limits and there are no set parameters for dogs. So essentially they could be being poisoned because they are much smaller than humans. Our dog has loved this dog food primarily because of the Turkey pieces. He will scoot the food all around and eat the Turkey pieces 1st. After using for years, the quality over the past several months has gone down hill. Tons of dust in the bags and in some bags you can barely see any turkey pieces. What has happened? Did something change? We do not want to change dog food brands but bags now full of dust throughout and hardly any of the special little turkey bits is not cutting it. According to online dog food reviews this is the best "budget" grocery store dogfood for my little dog(it's not really cheap IMO but cheaper than many of those "designer" brands) and just as good. My own experience agrees with this assessment. My dog is sometimes ambivalent about eating it but then he's a picky little brat LOL! The ultimate test of any dogfood is how healthy your dog is after eating it for a period of time. My 11lb Rat Terrier-Chihuaua mix has a super-shiny coat and bundles of energy. His number two's are regular and normal. In other words, this food keeps him healthy, regular and energized so it's a great food for him and I'll continue to buy it! I buy this as an alternative for the discontinued Royal Canin weight loss kibbles for little dogs, which I blend with my dog’s usual Royal Canin Chihuahua kibbles. I have fed my dogs Beneful for 20+ years. All lived long healthy lives except for one who died of cancer at 8 yrs old. His cancer had nothing to do with the dog food. Now, I have two large dogs that can eat through a small $10 bag in a few days. The 13 lb bags cost about $20 and last only about 2 weeks. With this 48 lb bag, the dogs are good for about 2 months. This is very much worth the cost! $40 a month versus $40 for two months is a no-brainer. I do wish they came in different types other than healthy weight, but both dogs have no issues with weight (either way) on this food. So, no complaints here. I've heard a lot of people rave about this line. I let my dog try it and she loved it! She grew up a pretty picky dog, but she was fine eating this dry. I used the Pro Plan weight management food for my overweight dog. She loved the food and lost weight which helped her hips. She was a pitt mix and weigh about 55 pounds but should have weighed about 10 pounds less. She did lose weight but never lost her appetite for food! I do love Pro Plan food because it has done scientific tests to support its claims. Despite the fact that I get hassled by some of my well-meaning fellow dog people about using this food, my dogs love it and they have thrived on it for years. I confess I fell for the trend of grain-free, cage-free, gluten-free, organic, limited ingredient, etc foods. My dogs seemed ready to organize a hunger strike. So I switched back permanently everyone gets the proplan shredded blend that best suits their dietary needs (puppy, senior, adult, or small breed). In the last 3-4 months the Shredded blend is horrible. There are no moist chicken pieces and is just dry kibble and my dogs will not eat it. I complained to the company where I order my food from telling them that they sent me the wrong product. They sent me another bag and there's still no chicken pieces. I did not read Purina's own reviews, instead I concentrated on others. My poodle loved the Small Breed Petite Races Chicken and Rice, but beginning in around Feb 2022, she started to not love eating. We thought she was either ill or it was perhaps the rawhide bones or her new "trio" heartworm-flea-tick med. I recently read the Purina's own reviews and many say this food smells. I used to feed grain free and such but after attending a canine health seminar at my breed nationals, it was talked about that dogs need a more balanced diet and that it does include grains. I had also been avoiding chicken as I had a dog who was allergic but was convinced to try this. They source quality ingredients and they are processed in a way that keeps them quality. Since then, a lot has also come out about grain free high protein causing heart problems in dogs! I switched to Royal Canin in October and my pugs have never looked better! Pugs are not a very active breed and yet the grain free diets kept them too lean for my taste. I also had issues with urinary tract infections and yeast. This food provides a good balance of carbs/protein and I see it reflected in my dogs. Healthy weight, good quality of coat and lots of energy. I feed the large breed blend to my Rottweiler too and get nothing but compliments on her coat. As far as cost, I can get this locally now at Petco as cheap or cheaper than with the online big store! I feed this to my picky Yorkie who eats it well and her coat is the shiniest I've ever seen it after a couple months on this food. We were recently traveling and my large dog went on a hunger strike and refused to eat. I offered her this food to stimulate her appetite and she ate it right up! My Yorkiepoo has a bit of a problem with constipation. At least twice over the years it's had him backed up enough that he required a trip to the vet and some meds to get his system moving. Since switching to this food (and keeping strict limits on table scraps and treats) his digestion's been great. Long enough, I want to say 2 ~ 3 years now, that if he does have any transient issues I'm confident his dry food is not to blame. And he's been in good health so I feel like he's getting the nutrition he needs. And the little bugger eats it. Not the foods fault but I will say I'm annoyed by the branding change from Focus. Not that I care about the name or picture on the bag, but when you find something good and don't want to change from it, such changes in packaging cause unneeded nuisance and stress. I actually use the lamb and rice so other than the protein everything else is the same I actually switched to it after the price of my dogs normal food got way to high. I definitely notice that her itchy skin is better her coat is shinier usually she will not eat plain dry dog food but because this has the boys dehydrated pieces of Liam edit she will eat it by itself which makes things a lot easier there are times that she does not want to eat it plain so I will moisten it with a little bit of water put it in the microwave for 12 seconds and she devours it. The thing I like about the small breed is the size of the kibble is perfect for her mouth size the price is quite good for what you get I definitely would recommend this my vet recommends this to all their clients my mother uses it for her schnauzer and we have not had any negative experiences I’ve been using this for a few years the only problem I have Kayla cross is that my local pet stores even though they are a big chain store have trouble keeping it in I don’t know if that’s due to popularity or because of shipping problems due to the pandemic we just went throughlaura.k

We are very active in the ring and eventing almost constantly at times going from one event to the next. Our fuzzy babies are beyond spoiled and are unfortunately very selective when it comes to kibble size. We have tried every size of kibble multiple times because the other isn't available and they will only eat the toy size. We have tried everything from breaking the larger kibble up to wetting it stirring it up to small pieces and drying it out, they will not eat it. We tried explaining to them that there is a pic of a Cavalier on the next size up but they don't care, Cavaliers are a toy breed and should have toy size kibble. They will dive into the toy size kibble and make it disappear as we pour it into their dishes. They truly love ProPlan Toy breed kibble. The reason they only got 4 stars is A BIG PROBLEM – availability. For some dumb reason the Toy size kibble isn't available in any pet store we have visited in MI, GA, FL, etc. (on the AKC circuit) What am I suppose to do when the only kibble our Cavalier pack will eat isn't carried in any stores. They only carry the next size up, which they won't eat. The second BIG PROBLEM is it only comes in a tiny bag! We have asked and asked to NO AVAIL (reps, stores,specialty stores, online stores). Appearantly toy size dogs aren't suppose to eat much kibble! The only other dogfood our dogs will eat is homemade fresh, that's it. Doesn't matter if it's in a pouch, can, tube. They will eat Toy ProPlan kibble. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make the Toy (Cavalier true size) ProPlan kibble available in a 20 or 25 lb bag for those of us who have larger toy breed dogs and may have more than one. Every 4 days we have to get another bag tiny bag of Toy Kibble. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE, bad marketing, and bad customer service. I bought this food 2 weeks ago because my dog has been picky about her food for months now. I have tried Hills Science, Purina Pro, Blue Buffalo – all puppy dry food. I think she really doesn’t like the chicken taste so I thought I’d try something different. From the start when I was phasing out the old food with the new she was way more interested in eating. We’ve been feeding Taste of the Wild Appalachian for small dogs for about a year now after switching to about 10 different brands. He loves it. The kibble is small, and the food is palatable and healthy. I wish the small kibble was available in fish and sweet potato too, but this has some fish in it. It’s a great choice in food for a very picky little dog. Now if he would only stop chewing his feet. This is new and been going on for about a year or so.
