I have two of these for my chicks and it's awesome. Chickens are so messy, they dump their water, kick litter into it. It took one cage about an hour to figure out the bottle and the other cage about 30 minutes. Just squeeze it on and off for a little while so they can see water drip from it and they learn to use the bottle. I bought 6 of these bottles. When my order arrived, I had 3 semi transparent white with purple pictures and 3 that were a solid color, transparent blue. All had the same packaging. The blue ones leak like crazy. They are all set up exactly alike, same temperature water, completely filled, same temperature room, etc. No matter what I do, the blue ones leak. They should make a plastic case for it cause it’s as fragile as a cell phone. It breaks if accidentally dropped onto a hard floor with water in it. This is the third one I bought so now I’m fed up enough to write a review. My dog loves this thing. He drinks out of it all the time which is the only reason I bought one again… twice. It accidentally fell about 3ft (waist height) when it had some water in it. Both times it cracked right away and started leaking everywhere. If they made it out of a more dense plastic (like the water bottles you see at camping stores) then it would actually be a great product. Here’s what I think they should do: 1. Make the bottle out of a more durable plastic or acrylic that is BPA free. 2. Make the bottle a translucent color so the light doesn’t penetrate the water as much causing he growth of bacteria. 3. Design a foam sleeve to keep out the light, keep it from sweating and to keep the water colder. 4. Some reviews there were concerns about their dogs teeth hitting the metal drinking tube. A small removable, rubber or plastic sleeve to go over the drinking tube would prevent their teeth from hitting it as they drink. Overall it’s a good product and the ball valve really does prevent it from dripping unlike a lot of the other brands that I’ve tried. I bought 3 of these for my son and daughter-in-law's dogs going overseas from Atlanta to Frankfurt, Germany. Last minute purchase as we weren't informed they were allowed (required) water supplies aboard the plane until the day before the flight. Literally picked up in-store on the way to the airport. There, the agent confirmed we needed them on the crates, so we installed in the terminal. One crate was a heavy-duty hunting crate with 3/8" barred door. The plate on that bottle snapped after being screwed on (I guess too tight), but we fixed with long zip-ties we had for other reasons. After checking with baggage guys at oversize, we filled them but they started to leak. Managed to manipulate them to stop most of the leaking and sent them on their way. The dogs had a good trip and are now learning to bark in German. They seem to be fine products, but we didn't give ourselves enough time to assemble, fit and test them properly. Do that.
The bottle did leak however we were able to fix that. Typically a bottle such as this will leak because of the ball at the end (on the inside). Once you toy around with it the bottle does stop leaking. The issue we had was the bottle over all didn't do much because it stopped working. Our dog wasn't able to get any water out of it after 2-3 months. The water would not come out because the ball at the end (on the inside) stopped moving therefore each time our dog would lick it nothing came out anymore. Needless to say we had to toss it out and back to the drawing board, we go!

Works well, has a few issues but nothing really bad. The bowl holds water good and doesn't splash around even in a off road trail. The lid has a large o ring that seals up tight, sometimes to tight by that I mean it cant get air in tank to let the water rise into drinking area. So sometimes you have to burp it to get water in bowl, could use a air inlet to correct that. I like the probability of it. The blue lid broke a piece out of it, just the edge, so now I have a air inlet for.this one. Seems to still work fine maybe even better but will leak if tilted, where it doesn't leak with normal seal ring. I like it over all and purchased a second one.daveo7777

I bought one of these after a water bottle failure with a kit I bought. It was a pain to attach to the cage because the spring is so tight. I highly suggest you attach the spring and then try putting the water bottle on. So after the filling process, I noticed the water bottle was leaking. Dumped the water bottle out and took off the nozzle and reattached, again, still leaking. Took the first one back and got another thinking maybe another failure, nope, still dripping. My rabbits had no issue getting the water out as the ball does roll fairly easy. I like the top fill option for easy cleaning and easy filling. The angle of the nozzle needs to be changed, it can be an issue with some of my rabbits to the point I had to move them as far up as possible on a couple of my cages. Wouldn't be a bad product if they fixing the leaking and angle. For the price though you pay for this item, I will gladly locate a different one.britsdreamer22
The material that makes bottle looks like it will last a while. Because it is outside I wrapped the bottle with some insulation to keep the bottle cool during the day for the rabbit and also to protect it from the direct sunlight so that the plastic does not dry out. This is usually what makes the bottle crack. It would be better if the maker would put a rubber gasket on the top of the bottle so that it seals better.Nelida
I bought 3 of these bottles (2 from Tractor Supply and 1 from a feed store), and all three have leaked from the beginning. It not only makes a huge mess, but my rabbits run out of water every day. I've buying bowls (which hold MUCH less water) that attach to the cages to replace these. They were an expensive waste of money that I've had to spend more money to replace.
