I do apologize that I could not be of any assistance. I had to send the jacket back because the one I received was too small for my dog. I did have a life jacket almost like it for my dog, but he grew out of it.ri_jabje_sve9x6v

This runs very small. I bought the signs that recommended for a 10-lb dog, and also the next bigger size just in case. The recommended size was entirely too small. The next size up fits my dog well, although it seems to have something pokey that bothers her tummy when she wears it. I'm going to have to look and see if there is a piece of stitching poking her. Other than that it is a very good quality, well made, and will definitely keep her from drowning if she falls off my kayak. Walmart had the best price anywhere! This life vest appears to be really well-made. The materials used and construction are excellent. There are numerous safety features, e.g., Velco closings PLUS clips PLUS stops on the clip straps to ensure they don't over-loosen. I've never seen such attention to detail in an animal product. The front neck & head support is so thoughtful and just too cute for words. Also, I love the top handle so much I'm tempted to have my puppy wear his every day. We haven't tried it in the pool yet, but I am very impressed to find such a quality product at this price.Kimander

This is a very well made coat, fits our dog really well and sizing is accurate. We get a lot of compliments and it’s at least .75” thick. Easy in and out with back zip and D rings super stitched onto coat.Beanie

Our Maltese is spoiled, I must admit….he has six other coats. I know that, in the Winter months, this will be the only one worn! Because of the warmth of this coat, he will no longer need to wear a sweater. Simply zip it up the back (so convenient) and utilize the rings for attaching the leash and out you go! I'm sure it will be more comfortable and warmer than wearing both a sweater and a light weight coat which doesn't provide much protection against the cold. Using the recommended sizing measurements for the chest and neck, the fit is perfect! Very cute lightweight puffer jacket for my small dog. This is perfect for Texas winter and is not too bulky. Gooby jackets are cut very narrow so work better on long skinny dogs. My 7 pound Yorkie/Chi mix wears a small and it fits him like a glove. My poodle mix is 13 pounds and is too wide chested to fit into Gooby items. They are well made and I love the built in d rings so you do not need an extra harness. Gooby makes quality products!!Lisa G

Great life vest! My dog loves being around water but isn’t a strong swimmer. The color and fit is great, and I made sure it was snug on her so it wouldn’t slip off in the water. We went paddle boarding last weekend and she fell in a few times, but with the life vest on she was able to paddle herself back and I used the strap on top to pull her back onto the board with no problems.Teresa H.

This Beach Bum dog flotation vest is great! Fits my 62 lb Golden Retriever mix perfectly with adjustable belly and chest straps. Each strap even has an elastic band to catch the excess and hold it out of the way. I’m sure it would fit a much bigger dog, as well. I love that it has the safety handle/grip on the back to steer or lift my dog. The colors are great; bright and will be very visible in the water. If the weather was much warmer we would’ve loved to test it out for this review, but with AM temps I the 30s the water is yet too cold. Thank you for a great product! Bought my 5lb toy poodle one in small. Loved the idea of the fleece vest with a ring to attach a leash so you don’t have to put a harness over it. However, the sizing is weird. The leg and neck openings are very big and the chest fit is snug causing it to bunch and gap. It runs long also, but I don’t mind that. I’ll keep it, but I am disappointed in the fit. The 2 stretch fleece vests by Gooby without the leash ring that I purchased in small fit my dog perfectly. I’ll stick with those, the sizing is accurate.Jody J

I have bought these vests in multiple colors over the past two years (have 3 rescue dogs). They are warm, fit well and do not drag on the ground, have a sturdy loop to attach a leash, and wash up very well and can be put in the dryer. I wish they would make even more colors than they do! XL fits the average cocker spaniel up to 25 lbs. while Large fits a small cocker up to 17 lbs. So for anyone with a truly large dog, these sizes will not fit. They also go on the dog very easy and stay in place. There is another variant with a hood as well.1eshaness

This coat is really remarkable. I had to get a bigger size to go around my Yorkie/Silkie's tummy so it is a little too long down her back but I have no worries she is going to get out of the harness part of the coat. I just wish it had some material to go down her front paws a bit, but it is warm.Diane G

I bought this vest because I liked it streamlined design. Very happy with it until it completely feel apart! I have a 75lb yellow lab and XL fit perfectly. We use this 3-4 times per week on our pontoon boat. We rarely use the handle to help him as he’s able to climb the pontoon ladder on his own. This weekend, it ripped a little then the next day it completely feel apart. Petco has declined to return the item since it’s over 30 days. I was given this product by Backcountry but this is my honest opinion. I used this on my 95lb Bernese Mountain Dog. First glance I loved the harness idea but after it being on I can say I'm not a big fan. Unfortunately, the neck/chest part of the flotation harness was to small leading to the part in between his legs fitting awkward. The buckle barely buckled and there was a significant gap between the device material under the buckle. The belly band did however have plenty of room and had extra slack. The material was durable and love the vibrant color easy to see on the water. I was really hoping to love the minimalist aspect of the design and its low profile but unfortunately for the big bear it just didn't fit him well.Rachel K

Nicely made floatation vest but not a good fit for my dogs. My girls are corgi springer mixes and are larger than your normal Pembroke Corgi but not as large as an English Springer. They have the short little legs like their corgi mom but the length and girth of their springer dad. Those little short legs we all love are the issue with this vest. The depth of the vest at the chest actually makes it hard for them to walk while wearing it. They drag their chests and the vest rubs the ground/boat deck. Not good. But it does fit my parents' Brittanys well. They have the height needed to wear this.Grimm

Would give 5 out of 5 stars, but the stitching must all be burned down or will unravel, like most products today, but the sizing is way off. Regular size AKC German Short haired pointer fits the xl at 1 year old. Need xxl for my older gsp still slim.MartyP

Ran this vest through the season and it was great, keep the dog warm and the handle for getting the dog in a boat, blind, or truck was great. Now after running the dog quite a few days of phesant hunting thick cover the velcro to attach the bottom to the top has severed off where the flaps are sewed together. I think I'll be able to sew in some supports to get it back in working order, but it should really have something up there to help.Alex122

Not only does this look so cute on my dog, but it is very secure. Not only does it contain Velcro under the stomach, there are clips around the stomach and neck so that is it nearly impossible for your dog to slip out! We purchased the dog floatation vest for our 15 yr. Old small munsterlander hunting dog. She loves to swim but fatigues pretty fast these days. With the vest on she was able to enjoy 45 minutes of swimming around in lake huron this summer two days in a row.T Ivan

After watching video reviews of the top brands, we chose this Ruffwear PFD for our Golden Retriever. We are happy with the purchase, except for one thing that is very important to us. The clip ring on the top of the jacket, under the handle is made of plastic instead of metal. Since we use this on a boat and need to clip her to a lifeline, this flimsy plastic clip ring is totally inadequate. The ring on the photo on the stock photo on the Moosejaw site looks beefier than what we got. See attached pic. We'll replace it with a more substantial stainless hook or clip. Other than that, great jacket. Would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the thin plastic clip. Concerning Moosejaw, great company as always. They get 5 stars!Scott

We absolutely love this life jacket! We used a cheap one last year while our pup was growing, but now that he's fully grown we wanted something that will last. This jacket is super functional and really easy for our pup to get on and off. It gives him so much confidence swimming and he goes in on his own now and will swim around past where he can stand all by himself, without needing someone in the water. We love this jacket so much. It's really durable, but not too bulky or heavy. The quality is 10/10. The grab handle is a must and it's nice and strong so it can actually be used if needed. I posted a 3 star review two days ago about the float coat. The lack of a five star review was due to what I assumed was a sizing issue. My dog is a medium, however, the girth straps on the medium float coat were lying directly on my dogs abdomen when clipped, so the sides of the life jacket did not fully meet underneath my dog. The concern with this is that when my dog is swimming, the buoyancy of the jacket would naturally cause the jacket to float towards the surface of the water. In other words, the area of my dog that experiences the closest contact with the lifejacket while swimming, is the area of the life jacket with the least amount of padding (the exposed girth straps). If I have to haul my dog out of the water with the handle, those straps are digging into my dog's abdomen without any padding. Again, I assumed this was maybe a sizing mistake on my part. However, Ruffwear responded to my review and said that the exposed girth straps on my dog's stomach are not a sizing issue and that "the foam padding does not have to touch under their belly". Now that I know this is a design choice rather than a sizing issue, I'm changing my review to 1 star. If a sport-worthy/high activity human PFD's greatest point of contact with the body was two straps, we would never consider that PFD safe enough to put on the market. Ruffwear talks a big game about rigorous testing of all of their products, but I don't see how their product designers can think that this is an acceptable product. My dog's belly was red and chaffing after just one day of use because of the straps, so I am pretty sure that the foam padding does have to touch under their belly. I also want to mention that I'm not an internet-complainer and I don't just troll around all day writing bad reviews. However, I am a huge dog gear junkie and I am frequently buying and trying new dog gear. Ruffwear used to always set the standard for quality and thoughtfulness in their products, but they have been disappointing me a lot in their newer designs. This is just another nail in the coffin for me.Liz

I have a Jack Russell Terrier that paddleboards with me 3 times a week. I bought him size medium, and it fits him well, much better than any other life jacket I have tried. Excellent quality dog life jacket. I have tried several brands of life jackets and this one is great. Very sturdy material without being cumbersome or restricting movement. My dogs love to swim and jump of my board frequently so the handle is a huge plus when I need to grab them and pull them back up on my board. The full Velcro belly bad and clips keep the dogs securely in their jackets and support their weight when being lifted back on the board. The ring attachment is nice for when I need to leash them up and the reflective piping is a great addition too. Highly recommend if you are planning and taking pups paddle boarding.Caitlin M.

You haven't met a dog with attitude until you've met Mr. Wolf – if he doesn't like something, his side eye will tell you everything you need to know. Naturally, I was a bit worried about how he would deal with a dog PFD, but he didn't mind it at all! He could lay down, get up, move around the board, and snuffle on land with full range of motion. This is the second NRS CFD I’ve owned. I’ve got a border collie/Aussie/healer thing. She used to be a small and that jacket worked great for 5 years. She got to close to a few campfires an melted some of the interior foam. But it still worked great as a handle. My pups gotten kinda thick as she’s aged. She’s defiantly a medium now. NRS was sold out of medium so I had to go with the large. She floats like a cork now. I had to do some minor modifications (sewing) to get the neck to fit snug. But the jackets are awesome. Durable, true to the sizing chart on the website, comfortable for the doggo, but the handles are the best part. You can carry your pup like a cute little suit case. Comes in handy for sure. A must for any true river mutt.Shay

Very well made dog coat and I'm very pleased with it. I've had to wash the coat several times due to my dog having a tiny cut on her ear that wouldn't stop bleeding. It washes easily! I really like the insulated interior and appreciate that it's not fleece which my dog's hair becomes imbedded into, also good not to be adding more microplastics into our environment. We chose the brightest color, orange, so that we can more easily see our dog when she's running in the woods. One improvement would be to add a bit of reflective tape/material for added visibility and safety.Mister Edith

my dogs are mixd breed so it was a bit difficult getting the sizing correct. both dogs are the same length from neck to base of tail, but different body builds. you might want to consider another measurement to help determine correct sizing. had to exchange one of the first two ordered. all good now. the product itself is wonderful!! not restrictive and the dogs (boys) love them! resistant to burrs etc while walking. water resistance is great and obviously appreciated by our boys! thanks so much!Mary Kay

This my second purchased life vest. I didn’t really my first purchased one didn’t have the chin/neck support. That part is a safety requirement/personal preference for me, for any dog who rides on the boat with my family. You never know if the boat might break down or crash, doggo might have an extended time swimming too get to safety, the chin strap will help keep the head above water. I have two toy poodles and got them matching jackets in the violet. They are extremely easy to put on the dogs and the quality is very good. Sizing is accurate so as long as you measure your dog's chest, it will fit. Also, it is a very warm jacket so they will be comfortable in NY winters. Love!Kelly K

Bought a medium for my Chihuahua and a large pink for my spaniel. All within the guidelines of the size chart. Previously bought 2 gooby winter parkas. They fit M and L, but were on the small side. Seeing these with expandable knit on the underside seemed a good idea to give both pups a little more room. The Medium is hamster sized (a bit of a exaggeration, but you get the point). The large barely fits the Chihuahua, who is 10 pounds. The small needs to be returned, always a bother, worse yet we do not have second coats in the very cold New England winter. Terrible.Lillian H

I have a husky in Texas so I’m always looking for ways to keep her cool. This vest works really well to keep her cooler even though she really does not like it when I put it on her. Once she has it on though she generally calms down. I’ve only had it for a few months though and the zipper broke this morning. The whole thing just unpeeled off of her. This is a pretty expensive item so I am annoyed that the zipper broke so quickly. She is not rough on it either – we just wear it on leashed walks. We had the previous version of this cooling vest, the Jet Stream, and loved it except for the flimsy material used in the top panel. So, I was excited to see this “new improved” version. The top panel is vastly improved—much thicker and stays moist longer. But, here’s the caveat and the reason for only 3 stars: the chest panel, which is the most import part in terms of keeping my dog’s core cool, dries out rapidly—much faster than the old version did! It is bone dry within 15 or 20 minutes. And, it is very hard to re-wet it without removing the vest from my dog. This is extremely disappointing, to say the least. Also, perhaps this was a fluke, but the vest also attracted a bee. It buzzed around my dog and landed on the vest. I don't know if it was the color or the moisture (or both?) that attracted it. Luckily, no sting resulted.Susan T.

After researching many cooling vests, I ended up choosing this because of its light weight. My puppy has been sick and I wanted to pick the lightest one since she’s lost weight and pretty weak. This vest is very light and keeps her cool. We’ve tried mountain trails in high temp for 1.5 hr+ and it was still cool when we were done. I also put it on her when I have to take her to the vet hospital during the hot hours in the car to keep her comfortable. It’s also easy to put it on or off.Marika P.
