Reviews:
The medium size I got was a lot bigger than I thought which is a wonderful surprise. I’ve split it into 2 and the double doors make it possible. I am currently training my little pup to use the other side as a bathroom as he weathers his first Chicago winter. Love it! And the great thing is the large window on the side is able to be tucked in the top to keep one side always open. The other smaller door doesn’t tuck on the top but that doesn’t bother me because that door is against the wall and not an issue at all. Quality seems great. Have had it for a few weeks and I love it. And so does my lil 10lb pup in his medium crate (but it’s large for him!). He goes in and out a lot more than his old one and I attribute part of it to the double doors! Works like a 2-room apartment for himJennBearDem
I love Petco. So sorry I can’t give this kennel a 5 star rating. Love the style. Purchased “large” size for 40 pound female lab/hound mix, 17 months young; fit perfectly (even 75 pound male “cousin” slept curled up a couple of times, for novelty). She’s not perfectly kennel/crate trained. Visiting our daughter & didn’t want dog to run around unsupervised. 1st time used kennel successfully for a few hours. 2nd time unfortunately used a lot longer. She was observed on camera chewing/pulling on rear end and pushing way out of bottom (latched) small front door. She got minor abrasions on cheek and paw; was a TIGHT SQUEEZE out. MOST UNFORTUNATE! Ughhhh; other purchasers had reported wire weaknesses, but I truly wanted to believe that my dog wouldn’t be strong enough. I will talk to customer service now. We know now what’s possible… Recommend with reservation; depends on dog, really.Tuggisfun
We have a growing 7 month-old newfypoo so needed to upgrade our crate to a larger size. I chose this crate for 2 specific reasons: #1, the height and #2, the top-folding door on the side of the crate. My newfypoo needed the additional height so he isn't hunched over if he's sitting up. The height on this size has given him an inch or two of extra clearance and should still work when he's done growing. For the 2nd point, I LOVE the top-folding side door. Because of where we keep the crate, we only use the side door and it has been awesome not having to walk around a door that opens to the side and is in the way of the main flow of traffic. Even though the crate is noticeably bigger than our old one, it feels like it takes up the same amount of space because of that door. I can't speak highly enough of it. For more practical items, the crate is very sturdy and well made. There were no problems with shipping and other than needing a little muscle, the crate went together very easily. My newfypoo isn't one that will try to escape from a crate, so I can't speak to that, but I have been very impressed with the quality of this crate and how easy it was to get my big-little puppy used to it. I know this crate will last us for years to come.Trina B

Reviews:
Some dogs just don't quite fit into the size charts in the way other dogs do. Our dog Angel, a mountain cur, is one of those dogs. Weight wise, Angel is comfortably in the medium category but she's tall and lanky so she always had to hunch over in her medium crate. This larger crate is a perfect height for the needed room. While the width and depth is nearly enough to also add our smaller dog as well, it works great for Angel.Terri M.
We bought this product mostly because of the vertical lift feature of the door hinge and the two-door access options which is great for all sorts of configurations (against different walls, corners etc). We like the size and customizable interior of the XL crate for our growing puppy (husky/shepard mix). This is definitely an at home crate vs. care crate. The only issue we have is that compared to our first crate (same company, large single door, 2 locks) is that this crate is very rattly. We crate our dog during sleeping hours and every time he kicks in his sleep or adjusts, it makes a clangy metallic sound that wasn't expected. Would not recommend for the bedroom but would recommend overall.SanFrannylou

The crate had obviously been used and returned. The metal was rusted in places and the plastic bottom tray was dirty. When I decided to return it, It was a challenge to get it back in the box. When I took it back to the store, I asked about a discount and received 15% off (the tax). I had previously bought one that was marked down by 50% because the box was damaged. I was quite disappointed in the whole experience. Apparently the merchandise was supposed to be checked if the box was damaged and that wasn’t done in this case.Janice
I've owned dogs for the last 40 years. I've used MidWest wire crates for my last 4 dogs. This iCrate didn't disappoint. It's sturdy and and easy to put up and take down. I use them when I travel with my dogs too. My dogs only use their crates for sleeping in at night or napping in during the day. During the day, their crate doors are left open. I close the dogs in at night. I don't have an issue with my dogs trying to escape from their crates, so I can't speak to whether or not this would be sturdy enough for a dog that's determined to get out of their crate. These crates are more than sturdy enough for my miniature Schnauzer, Havanese, and Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. All three of my dogs love their MidWest iCrates, as did my previous dog! They go in them voluntarily and when told to "crate up". My only concern with the current crate I ordered is that that one of the latches isn't lined up quite right so it's a bit tight when closing the crate door. I bent it slightly and it works much better. I haven't had that issue with any of the previous MidWest crates I've used. I'm a MidWest crate fan.Eddie09
We bought this in April 2022 for our Rhodesian Ridgeback mix puppy. He was weeks old when we rescued him. He was a Parvo pup and barely survived, so rest and his own quiet space was highly recommended for recovery. We first used the divider which was great. However, as he grew, so did his strength. It definitely is not strong enough for large dogs. Even for short amounts of time. At the moment he is 6 months and 60 pounds. Thankfully he did not get out nor hurt himself! I wish I could share photos of how bent up this crate is and the cracked floor liner. IWifeMomLove

Reviews:
I bought a larger cage purposely for him to grow into it. They have a divider which makes the crate smaller if needed. This is definitely worth the price! The ones at the pet store were soooo expensive compared to this one. I felt like the locks on this crate we more secure than the other ones I've seen and not only that it was extremely fast shipping I got mine about 3 days later. My pup loves his crate and will randomly go in there to play with his toys!Malamute Delta
Tough and durable. My pup feels as home. Highly recommendedMaurice L
This crate is amazing . It is sturdy and durable , not to mention so easy to set up. I timed myself: 51 seconds to fold it up and latch it. The divider panel and tray are excellent additions to the package and it is just extremely good quality. I recommend this wonderful pet home to anyone who even considers it.iluvredbones101

Easy to transport as it lays flat and easy to set up. My dog will likely grow to be a 50 lbs border collie but right now is about 14 lbs. I have set up the partition to give him 2/3 of the space and it is perfect for him. The double latch system provides security and ease of use. We also bought the mattress pad for this kennel and it fits under the partition if you are making the space smaller ( no need to bunch up on the usable side)Ron P

Reviews:
I use this cage as part of a multi cage structure connected with climbing tubes for my (what I thought were) three boy chinchillas, Turns out one of them was a girl and unexpectedly had three babies while I was at work. Unfortunately the newborn babies were able to climb through the bars which resulted in two of the three babies not making it until I came home from work. The one baby that survived grew quickly and was not able to fit through the bars within a week of birth. I recommend separating the female with the babies in the lower cage section (which this cage does beautifully) for the first week and removing any ledges in that cage section (so that momma doesn't jump down and crush the babies) and line the outside with a 12 inches high strip of chicken wire just to keep the little ones in for the first few days. It's easy enough to open the cage back up in a few months when the babies are big enough to withstand a fall from further up in the cage. Also I don't use the metal floors or ramps for my chins. Chinchillas in the wild jump from rock to rock as opposed to scurrying like rats do. Two of my chins are rescue chins that used to live in this cage just as it is pictured above. When I adopted them I felt they needed to learn that they could jump so I used the Kaytee Tropical Fiddle Sticks Hideout for Small Animals and a pac of screw in cup hanger hooks to create several more shelves and a bunch of the Kaytee Lava Ledges that screw mount to the cage sides to make a ton of ledges for them to climb up. Eventually they chew down the ledges which is good for their teeth and helps them not chew on the plastic shelves and hay bin in their cage. As they destroy the ledges I only replace the ones that they actually still need to get around the cage safely. Within a year of making these changes all the Chins can now easily clear a vertical three feet jump and don't hesitate to jump from shelf to shelf in the cage. Also my chins refuse to use the bedding at the bottom of the cage and choose instead to urinate on the plastic shelves. I think they like being higher in the cage to do their business. To solve the cleaning problem that this creates I tried making bins of bedding on those shelves which they just pushed all the bedding out of and then eventually pushed to the floor of the cage. I decided to use washcloths which work nicely and are easy to change and wash just like you would a baby cloth diaper. These work wonderfully. The chins prefer to stand on the washcloths instead of the exposed areas of the plastic shelving. They do tend to chew them a bit so make sure you rinse them completely when you wash them to avoid making the chins sick and replace them when they start to unravel at all since you don't want your chins to ingest strings. I plan in the near future to buy a third story for this unit just to expand my chins living quarters. With the minor alterations I mentioned above I'd recommend this unit to anyone wanting to use it for chinchillas.ChinMommie
We purchased this in anticipation of the adoption of two ferrets. The box arrived early though a little banged up, but all contents were in excellent shape. The nod is very large and heavy – it took two delivery men to (kindly) place it in my entryway. From there I was able to slide if across the floor to the living room. My daughter (14) and I assembled the habitat within 90 minutes. It was a little frustrating trying to get the floor pieces and walls to fit properly, but we managed it! You will definately want a rubber mallet or wood block and hammer to finesse some of the side pieces into place. There was an issue with one of the screws to a the hook that holds the top on not tightening fully, but we happened to have another to replace it and the top is held securely. The casters roll nicely and lock well and the doors close tightly with no wiggle room. There is no way an animal is going to manage opening these doors! We have adopted one male kit thus far and he really seems to like all the space. That said, he has needed a bit of help finding everything (food/water and litter pan) a few times, so I would recommend staying close by when you first place your furry slinky in their new home. (Could be ours is just a little young to really figure it out easily tho.) I struggled to justify spending the extra money on this brand vs a very similar habitat for less, but I'm happy we chose this one. The bottom is a plastic pan over wire floor where the other is reversed. The plastic pan is kinder to ferret feet easy to clean – there will be no struggle to clean any accidents from the bottom of wires. The ramps on this one are not as steep as the other brand, which would have certainly been an issue for our young fur baby. The covers provided to cover the ramps make it even easier for him to ascend to the next level. Given the length of time we plan to use this habitat, the convenience and design are worth paying the extra money for since the headaches will be far fewer. A final compliment to Petco: two days after this arrived, I received an email that their entire site was 20% off. The instructions aren't very good. It says one person can build it. I'd recommend 3. It's been days and we still don't have it together. I'd also recommend a rubber mallet to bang the parts into place. You MUST line them up perfectly or they won't go in. It's an issue. Especially if you only have 2 people to build it. It is very high quality and I cannot wait to get it set up for my kiddos pet rats. Definitely worth the money. No more pinched ratty toes!!! So other than the instructions, I should say, the various parts should be labeled, that would make it so much easier. It's a great cage aside from the issues I listed above. Don't be cheap. Buy this cage for your small furry friends!!!ThatOneChick

I had purchased this crate and I had found the design exactly what I was looking for. So I have bought 2 more and I plan to purchase 2 more soon. I would not choose another brand or style by the same manufacturer because it performs just as I need. My only suggestions are that the crate has a 4 door option and that the tray can be optionally removed from the side. My only complaint is that the instructions to set up the crate were not clear. Once you've done it though no problems. Ready to go in moments of the box!rabowasco
We bought a larger crate 6 months ago that housed 3 small dogs and 2 cats for 3 days while we drove across country. For several months the 3 dogs shared it at night (the cats found another place to sleep). Recently, we decided to separate the 2 older dogs from the younger and bought 2 of the medium sized crates. The "travel crate" was folded and put away in the laundry room for the next time we travel with all our babies, and we stacked the 2 medium crates. Even stacked, these crates have good strength and a solid build. I can't say enough about how exceptional these crates are and the divider is great when needing to separate pets in a pinch.mslubner

I almost did not purchase this crate due to the multiple bad reviews. Glqd I purchased it qnyway. Other than the people who recieved damaged or warped crates, I'm not sure why there are so many reviews claiming it is difficult to assemble. I'm 4'11", 90 lbs, had 3 kids under 5 in the same room, and I assembled it alone without any real difficulties. The aforementioned children are in one of the review photos to show the enormity of the crate. The 9 month old Great Dane is in the other photo. Luckily for me, besides a slightly warped top piece, none of my pieces were bent, warped, or broken. Took about 30-40 minutes to assemble. Certainly would have been faster if I'd had someone helping, like the manual recommends.Brooke

This is working really well for our new puppy at night. I have also used it in my van to keep her safe.Patricia S.
It's a nice big crate and just what I was looking for to put into my SUV. The only thing I didn't like are the zippers. They seem to be lower quality and makes closing and opening a a bit of a pain, so one star off for that. Not a con, but I wish the crate had anchors on each corner so that I can fasten it more easily in my car.

I was surprised at how easily this can be put together, and taken down. Perfect for travel. Good overall quality. The little mat is made of sheepskin like fabric, thin, BUT has a good zipper so it can be washed, as needed and you can place a pillow or other material inside of your choosing. Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase. So much more convenient to travel with than those heavy metal crates.Buggy
This crate is a replacement for another brand purchased elsewhere, which was tan. I like this color better and it looks very similar. The differences between them are that my old crate had a zipper door on the side as well which was nice, it's heavier than the old one but very sturdy, and this crate is more expensive. Since this is mainly the crate we use at home, with occasional travel, the weight doesn't really matter. My two little yorkies barely even noticed the difference. I love the crate mat cover that's included which is plush (cover is washable, inside is styrofoam) but I hate that it's white. Love the fast delivery!bbglo
14. Midwest Foldable Metal Exercise Pen / Pet Playpen. Black W/ Door, 24"w X 30"h

Specifications:
Dimensions | 62.01X62.01×30.00 |
Reviews:
My active Doberman is recovering from a spinal injury and needs to be confined. This pen is perfect. The quality is top-notch, with plenty of clear and illustrated instructions that are really not even necessary as it's so simple to set up. My one and only quibble is that the box opened nearly the full length of the side during shipping. I think the packing tape gave way. All parts were intact and nothing was damaged so just FYI. I'm now going to buy another one of these for the back yard. I was going to transport this one in and out rather than spend the money since it's (I'm hoping) not a life-long need, but while it's so easy to fold and move, it is pretty heavyweight (42") so it'd be a bit of a chore for me to do often. She's never been a jumper, especially not now, and I don't leave her alone outside so I could easily go with a lower height that's less expensive and more portable (keep in the shade) for the yard.jacy
I like Midwest products as the metal seems to be stronger and last longer than other brands. I have the original ex-pen I bought around 1995 – it's survived 50+ large dogs. I prefer them to crates as the dogs have more room to move around, yet they are easily configured to a smaller shape when potty training. They easier to clean than crates. They fold flat and I can store them next to a fridge or behind a furnace. They work indoors/out and are great mobile containment. For dogs living in fenceless areas (condos) ex-pens can be linked using carabiners/bolt snaps (i.e., dog leash clips) for fencing moveable for mowing/snow removal. They are great for patio surrounds. You can buy metal tops for if a dog needs more containment, but most won't if using a tall enough ex-pen. I've also bought just the metal or plastic crate pans to put under the ex-pen if needed. To keep the ex-pen from falling or being moved if I have a rambunctious pup I bungee the corners to furniture or door knobs.HannahB
I ordered several of these to use as barriers to prevent my young Border Collie from running through the mud in our back yard after it rains. I set them up just off the patio several feet to allow him some space in the grass without giving him free reign of the whole yard to run through. They are very easy to set up, take down, and store! The quality is excellent – the panels are very sturdy, the clips are easy to use, and the pins to anchor them in the ground are a great length and weight. I could not be happier with this purchase! They are exactly what I needed and can easily be used for other containment configurations.J LaRue

If you are needing to purchase a new dog crate, this is the brand and model I highly recommend. Midwest had several levels of crates but I have found that you cannot go wrong purchasing the Lifestage's model. They are solidly made and last forever. I always purchase the double door crates. They have cheaper models & more expensive ones too. I would not recommend their icrate as they are cheaper but they are also not had solidly made as the Lifestage's. Spend the extra $10-$15 and purchase the Life Stages model. It is well worth the money. I have had great success purchasing there crates at Petco.com. I always receive my items within a couple of days. It is also nice when you have a Petco store nearby where you live. If you have any issues with the merchandise you received, they have always been very accommodating and made sure they did whatever was necessary to correct the problem, return the merchandise at a full refund and/or replaced the item. I have been very happy with Petco and the merchandise I have purchased!!!Shari L
I just received this crate a couple of days ago for my Saint Bernard mix pup. The size is perfect and he has tons of room to grow in it. The doors latch nicely and the crate is very sturdy. We received this very fast! The only downfall I had with this purchase was that when we removed it from the box and set it up, there was a decent sized crack (all the way through) on the tray. I won't be replacing the tray as I've spent enough on this crate. And fortunately for me, my 5 month old pup doesn't have accidents in his crate, but I'm sure if others received this, they would not be happy.tsjackie
I had been looking at the end table style crates thinking that would look nicer and less bulky then the 4' x 4' X-pen I have in my living room. But, comfort is the main criteria and I wanted my Whippets to feel they could stand and dig through a deep pile of bedding, so I went with this crate. I like to rearrange the furniture so I bought the double door style to keep my options open. For my two Whippets I bought the 42" x 28" size which has been more then enough room for them to lay side by side or end to end. It arrives flat, but you just fold out the sides and it is ready to go. It came with a handle so it could be 'portable', but at this size it is heavy and I don't plan to take it anywhere, so I didn't attach that. I left the X-Pen up for them while they made the transition, but they hopped into the new crate the minute I put it up and haven't been back in the X-Pen (even though it still has more bedding in it). The black wire instantly looked better then the metal of the X-Pen and I'm staining a piece of wood I put trim molding around for the top (I had it cut to size at Home Depot) so I'll have an end table style look, but the height and comfort the pups want for their 'cave.' Very happy and buying a second one to have at the office for the days they come to work with me. Both crates and the wood top are costing less then the end table style crate, so all three of us are happy!psh1

I bought this for my adult dog so I didn't need the divider panel but it's still great. My dog has a blanket and a teddy bear she keeps in there. I leave the door open during the day and she'll go in if she's tired. The two doors made a huge difference. When I rearranged the living room when we got new furniture I had to turn the crate but since there are two doors it was no problem.lauren.w
