I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. I have a brilliant Australian Cattle Dog who figured out that by constantly barking he could empty the very expensive citronella collar I bought to stop his barking. The only complaint I would make about this collar is that the strap has a tendency to come loose. When this happens, the collar will fall off of the dog and good luck finding it. What I did was to put a stitch in one end of the strap to keep it from sliding out of the adjustment slide. That means that I would have to cut the stitch if I ever needed to adjust the collar. But since I am not sharing this collar between my dogs, each dog gets his or her own collar with a cut-to-size strap. Another solution would be to sew velcro to the ends of the strap so that it could be adjusted. The device delivers a shock that is not to painful, but does get the dog's attention. It has stopped my big dog from barking at the cat, but before the girl dogs learned to stop barking at the neighbors, the battery ran down. So I have bought replacement batteries and I will keep up the training.milkchaser

all the reviews for this product were really great… but i have not had the same experience. right off the bat there were plastic pieces falling off when we opened it up. we have used it on two dogs, a golden retriever mix and a pitbull mix. it seems to work okay on the retriever, but the pit is not phased. First, this thing works!! We inherited my mother-in-law's 5 yo Shih-tzu. He was a scared, timid little dog. He's been adjusting, but it's been a lot of work. First, he refused to eat or drink. He jumped and looked fearful for a couple minutes, but he was quiet. We only kept it on him during the times he's known to bark most often. It worked great. Now he'll growl, let out 1 bark at times, but he stops. Now when he doesn't have it on, and he begins barking, all i have to do is turn it on, and it beeps, and he stops. He is barking less often, so we are using the collar less often, and the marking issue is to a minimum. We purchased this collar and have been testing it out on both dogs for about a week now. One of our dogs likes to get aggressive towards other dogs when behind a fence or on walks.
