Got this for my 14 month old German Shepherd before he destroys everything in our home. Well, it came with no instructions, so once I figured it out, it became a 10-15 minute high intensity training class trying to put it on him. Not only do you have to coax it on with a treat through the front of muzzle, you have to try to squeeze it over their head and behind their ears and fasten the collar all while the dog drops to the floor, begins rolling around and swinging their legs every direction. Once I would get it on, it only took Koda about a week and a half to figure out how to manage to work his way around it enough to destroy it. When I got home, imagine seeing him sitting there like a statue and the remainders of the muzzle just dangling from his collar. He looks sweet, but this is just a snippet of his destruction.Workout

I have a 50lb Border Collie/ Choch Lab who is about 15 months old and mouthy- likes to nip. Her personality is more Border Collie, (hearding, bumping, nipping) She tries to heard other dogs at the dog park when the other dogs start to get excited and play with each other and leave the group. After having it on and attempting to take it off she tore the nylon, the top portion, with her high nail legs, however she calmed down after 10 minutes and we enjoyed the remaining 2 hours with her not wearing it at all. I bought this muzzle for my son’s German Shepard. My daughter and her boxer mixed dog were moving back home. They had only meet once before and the GS did not like the boxer very much. The GS uses a muzzle at the vets. It seemed to calm her down. So I thought let’s try it when they meet again. It worked like a charm. We only kept it on her for about 15 minutes then took it off. This muzzle is very well made, the velcro is strong and secure. The padding is great as well a very thin comfortable layer. My issue is that once you adjust the strap placement behind the head, there is no way to secure it. If the dog flails it comes loose easily. Great to use for a dog that pulls when walking. My puppy is already over 50lbs and he loves to pull on walks. This is a great tool to use because you don’t have to yank it, but gently nudge it back. My 6 month old huskie, Juneau hates the mussel he has been trying to get it off for days everytime we put it on him he tries to find new ways to take it off but it won't budge. I am a foster to a rescue Pitt Bull who was described as 'aggressive'. My 32 lb mixed dog has an allergic reaction to something that makes him lick his feet raw. He's into his 3rd episode and has completed steroid treatment but continues to lick all day and until he goes to sleep. Im wiping his feet when he comes inside and bathing his feet at night. Im giving him allergy chewables that make his coat shine. He still licks and his feet pink. He hated the last kind of muzzle I got him for barking and quickly tore it off. I figured he would not do well with a cone-shaped collar. Well with this muzzle, he looks at me like Im abusing him, but he doesn't try to take it off. He has a narrow nose, so the medium looked big, but turned out perfect. I like that he has plenty room to breathe without sniffing and can slightly lick his nose. More fiddly to undo than the previous version. Particularly difficult when the dog is rubbing his face trying to get it off after a walk. It fastens with a plastic snap buckle now. You have to slide a little tab to release it. However this tab isn't obvious that you have to slide it. Front strap is attached via a plastic sliding holder. Easier to manage than forcing the end of a clip through the hole in the strap as before. Other than the updates the muzzle is the same material etc. He managed to get the old one off during the rain & I couldn't find it, so had to buy a new one I would like to see the loop for the collar made bigger, as my dog's collar is a tight squeeze to thread through. I did notice they come in brown, blue, pink & black now. I do think it's better not to only have black available. I'm guessing the baby blue & pink ones look a lot softer on the face. At this price they only had black so I stuck with it. His snout is black so it doesn't look too bad. This style is longer than the original Baskerville. They are quite a bit too short for my dog& definitely no room for a headcollar. You can fit a dogmatic under this style comfortably & there is still room to pant. Exactly what he needs.maddoghouse11
I use these Baskerville Ultra muzzles for my family dog training business for the dogs that may bite. You may have to take some yarn and wrap it around the parts of the muzzle usually on the dog's nose that might otherwise get rubbed. All in all, it's a pretty good muzzle. It is possible for a dog to still bite while wearing this muzzle, but you also need to have some leash handling skills to prevent this. You also need to size your muzzle correctly…they should be able to open their mouth as wide as necessary to pant while wearing one of these. Think of your dog with a really large ball in it's mouth, it should be able to open it's mouth as wide as usual while wearing this muzzle.bordercolliesbaadogs1
I bought this muzzle after months of debating which style would be best for my Lab mix. I’m glad I chose this brand/style as it allows him to pant, eat, drink, and bark while still protecting those around him from any nipping. The straps were all easily adjustable and with the collar loop, it’s impossible for him to knock it off with his paws. I have a Jack Russell who I have rescued and need to use a muzzle on occasion to introduce him to new environments. I use the muzzle temporarily and this is the best designed muzzle I have found because it stays on his head and the mesh in front is soft. However, the side panels are ripping due to my dog's attempts to try to pay it off his face. It's too bad this isn't made with more sturdy material. I think it's the best designed muzzle on the market but I can't give it 5 stars because of how easy it gets torn.threejrt

This muzzle is well made and is great for young pups who want to put everything in their mouth. I use this when traveling and for stopping for potty breaks. She is able to breath and it is not so constricting to be frightening. It does stop her from grabbing junk on the ground. The softer rubber it is made from seems more comfortable and flexible than wire type muzzles I have seen. I recently ordered a larger size as my little girl is growing. I know several breeds that have to wear a muzzle so I have to agree with you above. They aren't the only dogs that have to wear a muzzle. I have a dog right now that is Weimaraner and Australian cattle dog and some pit and for some reason today she is wanting to bite people. So I am getting this until she settles down.Barbara
