This is a really nice looking, easy to assemble and sturdy gate. We purchased it to keep a small, well behaved dog out of a section of the house. It's low enough that we can walk over it, but if we wanted to slide it open/closed, it's easy enough since it's well made for this option. I got the large gate to use for a ferret. I have 4 dogs and 2 cats as well. It works great for its intended purpose. I put it together, by myself, in about 5 minutes. It is very sturdy. The sides do not fold in, like described they do. They are secured by a bolt. You would have to remove the bolt each time you wanted to fold it in. Once put together it is one solid piece. You can take bolts out and adjust the length. This is a great gate. If you have a animal that jumps a lot they can jump over. Only my cats jump the gate. My animals do not try to shove the gate like several have said in their review. It is a bit heavy and very sturdy. It is not able to be pushed over. I will be ordering more to place at the other end of my hallway

I love everything about this dog pen, except that one of the panels was missing the upper hinge. I did not want the hassle and wastefulness of returning the entire large and heavy item. I tried to see if I could just get a single replacement panel, but I don't know how to do that. I guess I will just keep it and only use 7 of the panels *Sigh* (If anyone can get a single panel replacement – please let me know!) I have used this to host puppy playdates over 2 years. Cannot be happier with purchase. My front yard is not completely fenced; There was a need to fence off, but not permanently as we use front yard for other purposes. Fences are flexible, can be set up in any figures as needed. Once I figure out where to put fences, it takes 10 mins to set up, 10 mins to take down. I initially bought 2 sets, and neighbors and friends praised, and we had so many puppy visitors. That led me to buy 1 more set so the playpen could be bigger. Despite I have 3x sets, once taken down, they store nicely in small tight space on the side of house. Each set comes with 1 panel with a door. Since I have 3x sets, I have 3x panels with door. I set up door fences on three sides of yard for convenience. Summer days, we had playpen every evening. Throughout year, we hosted playpen for every possible occasions; puppy birthday, anniversary, holidays, new puppy debut… We initially worried that some dogs might jump out and run away, but that never happened. Dogs are capable, but wanted to stay inside for fun. We actually had dogs jump in. If you need to just hold puppies around 1 – 3 months, you could buy 1 set. But, if you are planning any meaningful puppy playdate, you will need minimum 2 sets, most likely 3or 4. The price point should be all the indication you need about the quality of this item. The sturdiest thing about this gate is the hinges. The frame is barely held together and needed wood glue and firmly secured screws. Two screws slid out of their respective parts of the frame within seconds of coming out of the box. But with some wood glue and gorilla glue in places it works. These are very high quality durable and useful gates. There are tiny rubber pads under so you know which side to grab after putting away and the ease of the hinges are excellent. They are heavy enough to let the pet know it's stable and it's not a easy move with a nose plus the size and amount of panels make the setting of your area customized to the fit. I actually will buy more so I can use them out on the patio. Our dog understands boundaries and seems satisfied to see us until the entry is opened. I bought one brown which is a nice dark walnut color brown and a white one which both have a nice what I would describe as an enameled type gloss finish for protective wear.
