Like others have said it is kind of cheaply made. I had bend some of steel to keep pin in for lid. I think I got that fixed. The magnets don’t always latch on level ground so I raised the back about 1/2” and door does catch with the magnets every time. However, magnets are not very strong. I think it would keep mice out but I don’t think a big rat would have problem budging open the door. I may add a strip of magnets on each side to be a little more difficult to open for rats. Hoping this works good for my livestock guardian dogs.Sharonco
Great idea, poorly executed. Ordered this feeder in store, with the help of an associate and the item was delivered to the store the next day. Unfortunately, it took another 6 days (I had the tracking number) for the store to email me it was ready to pick up. The box was clearly damaged, yet no one thought to open it up and view that the feeder was also damaged. I opened the box while still in the store so the employees could witness. The feeders load door was bent at one corner so the lid wouldn't function as it should. The lower door would get stuck in the open position and there were three rivets that were pulled through the light gauge sheet metal. I made this purchase for the occasional out of town travel and was leaving town that same day I received this item. So, re-ordering and waiting another 6+ days was out of the question. Was I offered a discount for the damaged merchandise? No. They put me in a spot, so I took it and made the needed repairs to the lid, door, drilled out and installed new pop rivets. We bought this feeder for 5 dogs, different ages, breeds and sexes. We rescue and foster on a regular basis and needed something for automatic or self feeding on few occasions. It is very hard for them to use. Most of the dogs have to lay down to eat. We have been through several types of food trying to solve the issue of the food not being able to fall down enough for the dogs to get to it. It is extremely loud when they stick their heads in and out to feed. We were really disappointed with the product. We researched and bought from our local store. We were unable to take the product back, even for store credit. We are currently in the process of trying to build a stand in order to work around the dogs laying down to eat as well as being able to knock it over. Gotta be careful with opening the top-sliding food storage compartment – if you have water in the bowl, it spills out a bit. (Easily avoided if you remove the water bowl before opening, or if you slide open very gently.) Otherwise, it's great. From an appearance and function perspective, this is terrific. The height is perfect for my 30-lb dog, and our smaller 9 lb dog can also reach up for a drink of water when he is too lazy to go to his own bowl. The stainless steel insert bowls are of high quality. The design is perfect with our home decor. My one complaint is that the leg screws are too short. I managed to twist 2 of them into place, but the other 2 just wouldn't go in far enough to even engage with the screw thread in the leg. I ended up using Super Glue because I didn't have time to get to a hardware store and compare hardware sizes for a replacement. Might have been an anomaly. This pet feeder has some good qualities: it looks very clean and modern, the bowls are ceramic and dish washer safe, and it keeps them up off the ground so our dog doesn't spill as much food/water. I will note that the bowls are probably more for a cat. We just happen to have a 9lb dog, so it's perfect for her. My main issue is with the quality of the "wood". The veneer is already (in a week) chipping or rubbing? away in spots. It came in the box with no protection around the base, just the bowls in were styrofoam. So maybe some of it even happened in delivery. Overall, for the cost, I'm afraid this won't hold up long enough to be worth it.sam_t

We had zero issues putting this together, so maybe the instructions have been fixed since others had problems? Every piece is labeled, so following the directions is a breeze. The hardware and each piece seemed like pretty decent quality. I wish the pegs to hang leashes on could be on either side, but you could probably drill your own holes to move them. The food cubby has a hole for the handle, so I worry we will smell dog food, which I hate. So we are looking for a container of some kind to fit in the space to put the food in. Pull-out drawer for bowls isn’t on a wheeled track, but it comes out and in pretty smoothly so far. I love being able to hide the bowls to keep little hands out! We love love this feeding dish! When our German Shepherd would drink out of his high bowls water would go down the wall on the tray and under the tray. Was a total mess all the time. This product works exactly as advertised but with some positive bonuses that were not mentioned in the description. It's tilt-proof and spill proof, just as advertised, but the way the bowls fit into the stand, my puppy can't remove the bowl to play with it when it's empty (or still half full sometimes!) It's way better than pads under the bowls for a variety of reasons. Our pup used to pull the pads under the bowl in play, which dragged the bowls all over the house. We have hardwood floors, and they were getting ruined from all water spills. With this bowl stand design, not only does the water rarely hit the floor, but I no longer have to buy new bowls. I was anxious to get this duo for our 10 month old pup- he spends lots of time outdoors and this would allow him to have unlimited water and food. Upon receiving the product the top lid of the food popped off and never went back on securely – – i did email the seller and he/she had no clue about the product at all and uninterested of what was going on- we still use the product but the pup is able to knock off the lids and now plays with it! I don't know if ours was faulty or if all of the containers are like this!crazinusa
Looks exactly as advertized. Food dispenser hold 4lb bag. You have to shake the container when you need to refill the food bowl. Water fills itself whenever the bowl gets too low. To refill the food dispencer you just pop of the lid on top. To refill the water dispenser you need to flip it upside down and pull off the bowl attachment, unscrew the lid (about the size of the palm of large mayonase jar) i only have to do this once a week. Honestly, i love it and deffinitely would reccomend to a friend.MaeYenger
Bought these for my two cats, thinking they would be great for feeding while we are gone for a long weekend. The dry cat food dispenser needs to be given a slight nudging everday so the food from the canister can flow down into the bowl, otherwise it gets stuck inside. Perhaps the opening is a bit too small. The water dispenser works fine but if any of you have cats, then you know they don't like stale water. I purchased 2 of the smaller raised 2.5 cup slow feeders, which is recommended for cats per the FAQ and listing, for my 2 cats. They will only eat if there is significant volume of food within the feeder, but will not eat if there is a small amount between the feeder elevations. My guess is that the elevations on the feeder are too tall and is touching their whiskers. Seems counter-productive to add more than necessary food in order to entice them to eat when this device is supposed to slow down their eating. Seems promising but wasteful. Both of my cats are large, one being a maine coon.
10/10 recommend!! My dog Forrest is a Great Pyrenees/Australian shepherd mix. He’s only 9 months old and he’s already 65+lbs. Since I first got him, we’ve had trouble with fast eating. I started my buying a simple slow feeder from Walmart, which worked for a bit. But as he grew, Forrest started regurgitating food after almost ever meal. It is made out of high quality hard safe plastic and it had rubber stoppers on the bottom to keep it from sliding around. For the price this feeder is great! However the hole that dispenses the cat food is a little too big for my cats food size. If I used cat food that had just a little bit larger pieces then I think it would probably be just the right size. (I feed my cat Rachel Ray's Super Premium "Longevity" and it comes, as I said, in VERY small bites). So for under $4 it's well worth seeing if its the right fit for your cat food!Robin
We got this for our cat since we would be out of town for two days. It works out pretty well and she had no problem transitioning from her usual bowl to this feeder. It has pictures of small dogs on the label but it works fine for cat kibble as well. The feeder itself is great but the only problem I had was that this couldn't be found in store. It's clearly in store as our order was ready the next day but they didn't have it on the shelves. The feeder was also fairly dusty when handed to me so they must have been sitting somewhere for a long while.Ptolemios
Fixes in two design flaws would've made this product a 5-star for me. First, the lid does NOT snap shut. Have to use tape to keep the top from flipping up in wind and protect the food from other critters. Second flaw, the sides as the food is exiting need to be higher in order to keep the cat food from running over it and being wasted. I have a disability and can only use one hand so made the error of reading the instructions, filled dishes with dry food, set timer as instructed and nothing happened after 24 hours Re read the instructions, got my carer is to read instructions, reset timer and waited. Nothing. Was getting box to send product back when looked on side of box and it tells me to insert battery When I did this it worked No mention of battery on instruction sheet.. But now it works, cats love it, though one was a little shocked when it opened just as she was putting her paw on it and now thinks it will always do that for her.
The product works very well. Easy to set up, use and clean. Cat took to it instantly. My only gripe is that it makes a loud ticking noise – one tick per second – which is really annoying. I thought it was faulty and Pet Planet sent me a replacement, no questions asked. However that makes exactly the same noise. I65533m now sitting about 10 metres away and it65533s driving me crazy. The only solution is to take the batteries out when not in use. Given the price, I suppose it65533s a fair compromise.
My cat has no issues eating from this feeder, despite the rather loud ticking emanating from it – rather like an old-fashioned carriage clock. It is a mechanical timer, similar to those timer things you get for a lamp when going on holiday. Its quite difficult to be accurate with it as the 1 hour gaps on the timer are very small, but it definitely does the job and pops open when its supposed to. I would say it could do with an onoff switch as the only way to stop the timer is to remove the batteries. Reliable and recommended.

I purchased this product almost two years ago for my japanese mastiff. My dog is very very messy during feeding time and I was concerned for his older body. Works good for 3 1/2 month old shar pei puppy. She's quite a slobber when she drinks water, helps eliminate water from floor. I removed elevated legs, tray moves when she eats for now. Bottom of tray need to have some type of non-skid/slip pads placed underneath to help keep tray in place.
