All they had that was similar was the kind with the plastic clip to attach it to its self. Well my dogs are all 100+ lbs as I own Dobermans and they are big enough and strong enough to break the clip, so those kinds would not hold up to my guys. The Herm Springer prong collar has made our new German Shepherd puppy behave much much better. It even had an effect on her the first time I put it on her. After a few gentle tugs, she got the message and now walks with me in stride. When she has just her regular collar on, she wants to pull, strain and do just what she wants to do, but this prong collar has put us back in control. It's like having power steering on this pup. I am glad I ran across a YouTube video about it. Would definitely recommend to anyone. I’m very happy with this purchase. It is exactly what I expected. I’m lucky that my boy is well behaved or I’d never be able to put this collar on. It is quite difficult to latch for me. I can’t imagine trying to put this collar on a wriggling dog. I hope that I will only need to use this collar a couple of times. I purchased it on the advice of my trainer. My dog outweighs me by a bit and after a Boxer attacked his sister and he yanked me off my feet trying to defend her it was decided he needed a Come to Jesus Meeting aid. I definitely DO NOT recommend this collar unless you know what you are doing and the collar is fitted correctly. Collars such as these have the ability to cause severe damage and should only be used under supervision of a professional trainer.GREGG

These collars unfortunately get a bad rap. The are not barbaric collars that inflict pain. Not if used for their intended purpose and when used correctly. They are "corrective" collars. I have used them for years. I purchased three on this site because Sprenger is the only brand I like. There is no reason to use an x-large size on a large dog. It is overkill. I use medium on 25 lb dogs up to 125 pound dogs. The large is almost the same as the medium but anything larger is too big, bulky, heavy and unnecessary. These are very well made and the three collars I purchased came well packaged and arrived very quickly. Stick with Sprenger. They are the bestTrainer

These training collars come as a set for 2 dogs. There is 2 collars and 1 remote. They work great. The instructions are easy to follow and the collars are adjustable so they can be for large or small dogs. The clip makes it easy for putting the collar on and off. You are supposed to give your dog a break from these around their neck like any of other training collar. My dogs all I need is the beep and the vibration options but it does have a shock option as well and the vibration and shock are adjustable. You can switch from one dog to the other using the button on the side with the 1 and 2 on it. Overall a good shock collar for your money. No issues with it so far.Chris
