He was scratching and biting at himself 24/7 and he caused an infection on his foot from the constant licking. He was so miserable until our vet put him on apoquel along w an antibiotic for his infection. The apoquel worked very quickly with relief felt later the same day he started. I am a vet assistant, and I see all kinds of animals coming in with different skin conditions or allergies and always felt so bad for them and their owners….. then I got a dog with allergies and then I found out what it's really like…. it is devastating watching your dog itch and scratch to the point of pulling their hair out, then when the hair is gone… then there goes their skin…. they will make themselves bleed and still won't stop. I tried benadryl I tried EVERYTHING, had to even do skin antibiotics and steroid Injections and still he was itching…. so… the dr tried him on this….. now… first thing I will say is this medication isn't cheap especially for bigger dogs (if you have a 10lbs dog it's not going to be too bad) but my poor dog had to start off taking 2 16mg 2 times a day and it was roughly 300 for the first month, however from there you taper down and after a few months I got him down to half a tablet once daily…. anyway…. this medication worked like a dream for him. He hasn't had any issues for over a year now and although sometimes he scratches its more of a normal itch. This medication literally saved him and my sanity. She will smell her food and walk away, so this has not worked for her itchy problem. The pills might work for other breeds, but not for me. I purchased some peanut butter aller-immune bites to try to help our French Bulldog from licking/biting her paws. She was not a fan of the peanut butter ones at all. I tried smearing peanut butter on it and everything, but she would not eat them. So, I emailed Zesty Paws and they emailed me back very quickly. They offered a refund or a different flavor. My 4 year old golden retriever has been suffering since she was a tiny puppy. She came inside one day after playing in the back yard and her left eye was huge. My standard poodle suffers from outdoor allergies. After battling them all summer the vet just said to double up on benadryl. I felt like I was drugging my dog. I saw an ad for these chews and thought it would be a better option to at least give it a try. My boy wasn't sure about the taste the first day and I had to wrap it in cheese. The second day, and every day since, he's gobbled it right down just like a treat! To test the results I totally stopped the benadryl and only gave him these chews. Wow is right, because I am floored at how well this works! I have 2 pups with horrible allergies – one that nothing else works for. I've tried all different meds, including shots, and she still suffered horribly during allergy season. I reluctantly decided to try this, but we were in the middle of allergy season, and watching her suffer is just too much. Fast forward to July 2019, and my order came in the mail. I have a 4-Years old purebred Keeshond (Precious Assal). Unfortunately Assal has seasonal allergy. I use to give him Cetirizine HCL 10 mg per his vet recommendation. My little chihuahua will not eat her Pet Fresh food with this ground up in the food. I cut the tiny pink pill in half and crushed it into her bowl. She will smell her food and walk away, so this has not worked for her itchy problem. The pills might work for other breeds, but not for me. My little chihuahua has itched for years. She had her belly red from itching and it was black at times. The vet said to switch food- didn’t help. We tried a lot of different kinds even very expensive ones. Nothing helped. I decided to try the Apoquel that’s for allergies. It worked but it’s PRICEY! I did some research on the Dermabliss and liked the ingredients. Showed it to the vet who said the same – it’s all natural ingredients… try it! I’m glad I did! She’s been on it for 3 weeks now and no itching! I wish I had had found this years ago. These treats are great! First of all the packaging is very thick so the treats stay moist and fresh! The packaging closes like a ziplock bag. As soon as you open them it smells good enough for a human to eat! The tests are SUPER soft and easy for a dog if any age to chew! My YaYa LOVES them and was begging immediately for more after his first try! He’s allergic to grass (WHAT? I know right) and these definitely have helped with his itchiness and allergies! I received these soft chews to try and share my experience-and honestly, after day one or two I didn't know how I would review because my dog started to smell awful and seemed to be itching more, (when he gets dry skin his oils over produce and he smells AWFUL) but then after about a week of regular use, the smell went away and he stopped itching and the redness in his skin also went away. I haven't seen him itch in about a week and a half and I am incredibly happy about that! He's more playful and sleeps better at night because he's not itchy and uncomfortable and it's nice to have my puppy back! He is larger so he has to take two vs one chew, so they only last a couple of weeks, but they are very comparable in price to other products and I feel actually work compared to other methods we've tried in the last six months. Incredibly happy with this product and will be purchasing regularly now that we have found a product that actually helps with the allergies and itch! Worked in veterinary for 23 years. Could go on with stories about this product forever. One example, elderly man called me crying saying his allergy doctor told him he had to get rid of his cats. His cats were middle aged and in that area likely not to be adopted. His cats were his family and all he really had in life after his wife died. I suggested he try Allerpet first before going to that extreme. I told him he should have the cats bathed with an unscented, soap-free shampoo and then combed out thoroughly by someone else. When that was done, I told him to bring them in and I would show him how to apply Allerpet-C against the lay of the coat, all over the body, with a washcloth. This he could do himself once a week thereafter. He followed my instructions exactly and was able to enjoy and love his cats for many more years. I have seen this story play out hundreds of times. I have never understood why allergists don't recommend it to all their patients to at least try. The doctor's first thought is always get rid of the cats and many times this means euthanasia of a healthy animal. Happy to see Entirely Pets carries it. Got this to try as an alternative to another brand that my dog has been using for quite some time. I like it that this one has Turmeric Root, Grape Seed Extract, Pumpkin Powder, and Bromelain. However, the Quercetin dose is just one fifth, and Fish oil just one quarter of my dog's usual supplement. I guess this one would work for those just starting out on allergy and antioxidant supplements. My lab had hot spots recently. I bought this product and applied it to the affected area in addition to the antibiotic cream given by the vet. I have a beagle mix who is allergic to almost everything! He's allergic to trees, pollen, grass, cats, dust, seriously the list goes on. During the spring and summer his allergies get so bad on his feet. They itch him so bad that he chews on them and it leaves them raw and then that leads to a yeast infection (which he is also allergic to). We have had him on prescription allergy medicine and even have gotten him steroids and allergy shots. This summer has been so crazy with traveling that we have only had a chance to get one allergy shot so when i saw these, which are SO less expensive than his visits to the vet I had to try. I have been giving him 1.5 pills twice a day, as the bottle recommends, for about a week and I am honestly surprised that these actually seem to be helping. He has barely touched his paws, which mean they aren't bothering him being itchy. When he chews on his feet it leaves them super pink/red and in the past week they have been getting back to their usual white coloring. I figured trying these out would maybe help him a little but since his allergies are so severe I probably wouldn't see any results so I am so impressed that I have seen results in such a short time. I'm not completely disappointed in them, they help a little with the inflammation on his feet but its still pretty bad. One customer said that it cleared her dogs feet up so I had the same hope. I purchased some peanut butter aller-immune bites to try to help our French Bulldog from licking/biting her paws. She was not a fan of the peanut butter ones at all. I tried smearing peanut butter on it and everything, but she would not eat them. So, I emailed Zesty Paws and they emailed me back very quickly. They offered a refund or a different flavor. I opted for the lamb flavor because I really wanted to try to get her to stop excessively licking her paws. She LOVES the lamb flavor ones!! She takes them like any other treat! I was hesitant to try these for my dog Coco but she suffered from itchy skin and intermittent rashes due to seasonal changes. We normally have to do cytopoint injections at the vet but decided to give these a try. In short, they work great! You just need to be patient and give them the appropriate amount per day. It took a month to notice a difference in Cocos skin. It is possible that it won’t work for every dog but i would advise trying it a month or even two before passing judgement. The only thing is my dog does not “enjoy” eating them. I am not sure if there is a way to make them smell and taste better (I assume they don’t taste good because Coco will not eat one unless I appease her with a tasty treat afterward). So the “treat factor” should be improved if that’s a possibility. I did not remove a star for this because it’s quite possible that it’s necessary and difficult to flavor something with a medical benefit.jonathan.w
My 4 year old golden retriever has been suffering since she was a tiny puppy. She came inside one day after playing in the back yard and her left eye was huge.
