Small Black Scabs On Dog For Sale (2024 Update)

I've tried the Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Antiseptic and Anti fungal Spray for Dogs and Cats on a few of our outside cats. They've been deflead but one still kept scratching and losing fur just above her tail. I'm not sure if it's an allergic reaction to the fleas or if it's the result of a thyroid problem. But we tried this spray and the itching stopped immediately. It's been almost 3 weeks and she still isn't scratching it. I also wanted to try this on some ringworm that a few of the outside cats have. I've been spraying this on for almost 3 weeks now but haven't really seen any improvement with the ringworm spots that I'm treating. Ringworm can respond slow to treatments anyway so I'm not sure if this is going to help with that or not. The spray is a pump and it has a light citrus smell, kind of like oranges. It will not harm your pet if they lick it. It didn't list a minimum age that you can use it on. It contains Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Keratin, and Aloe Vera. It's listed as an antifungal, antimicrobial, and antibacterial. To use this you just spray the area tell really wet, twice daily for a week, then once daily for another week. You can continue every other day for another 2 weeks.Cricketoes

I read the reviews for this product but was still a bit skeptical for it to actually work. One of my cats (2 yr old orange tabby) literally scratched the size of a 50 cent bare spot (literally overnight) in center of his back below shoulder blade. By the end of the day the circle was warm red inflamed and gross. Being on a tight budget I did my research for home remedies. First I began applying a year old vet prescribed Dermalone antibiotic that was prescribed for one of my other cats for 3 days but area got worse. Then began applying Neosporin for 2 days lightly on and around scab now and ( luckily the spot was where he could not reach to lick off) and it did nothing as well. A week later purchased this product, followed the directions and a week later the area was completed healed. Scab dried and fell off and new skin looks perfect and normal. Unfortunately I dont know what this was for did not take him to a vet. Infected area did resemble pictures of ringworm online. Im not a vet but am thinking whatever it was it was some type of fungal infection. Benefits of product; it wasnt expensive, was easy to apply, and has a light pleasant scent.Debbie

I am so thankful to have found this today! My poor dog could not stop scratching and licking under his front legs, and they were raw and bleeding. He was whimpering but would not stop. I came home and sprayed the areas with this, and he didn’t freak out like I thought so I know it didn’t hurt! He became calm and only tried to lick a few times before he relaxed and rested. About 2-3 years ago, I bought a pair of these booties for my golden retriever-mix service dog, Maggie. We live in northern Minnesota & have snow from November thru, um, April so Maggie needs paw protection often & in significant snow/sale. Previously I purchased cheaper boots for her but they always fell off or their material was too flimsy. I have learned that you get what you pay for with these quality paw protectors with the non-skid yet bendable "soles". Okay, first off I didn't buy these through Smartpak (they didn't carry them.) I bought them years ago through Amazon. My boxer pup and I hike hundreds of miles every year. However, one year she was having trouble building up her callouses, so I got a set of these. Since then they never leave my pack while we are out and about. They are so useful it is foolish to not have a set. Did you pup cut their paw, no problem. Did you go too far and the pup has sore feet, problem solved. Are you out on icy terrain that could cut the pup's paw, you're set. Seriously, this is something that any dog owner who puts miles on their pup needs to own.Skydas

I have a Large 90 lbs Weimaraner, and the Size Large and they fit perfectly. The black part is nice and thick BUT NOT Hard like some other boots, so they are comfortable on his paws. It only took him like maybe 10 minutes to get used to them. Mostly because he LOOVES to go outside, so I just side tracked him by opening the front door so he was to excited about going outside, he didnt have time to really concentrate on these new weird things on his feet. Its an ok product. Had to cut a bigger tail hole for my pug, i think the small size wouldn't be big enough around her waist. The closure tabs were only good for a couple of adjustments before losing their stickiness. And quite pricey at 1 each. Wont buy again, have ordered velcro closure pants to try.pearrac.7755

I bought simple solutions disposable diapers for my lab who is incontinent. I was very disappointed in this product for the simple fact that the product size ranges are woefully wrong. the extra large size that I purchased which stated it would fit a german shepherd did not go anywhere near my lab who is quite small for a lab and would not fit my german shepherd either. To say I wasted my money is an understatement. I would not recommend this product to anyone and I feel very cheated.Ann G

My groomer recommended this brush for my poodle. It works much better than the other slicker brush you get in store at Walmart and my dog isnt scared of it, so it must not be pulled at his skin as much. Sometimes hard to clean the hair out though.Faryal

I have a 97 lb. German Shepard. He is in a wheelchair/cart because he has no coordination or muscling in his hind legs. Because of this, he drags his feet and knuckles over, causing scrapes and bleeding to his hind feet. I have tried a wide range of items including my own protective foot wrap. ALL have fallen off in the first few strides. PawZ are a dream come true; they stay on, protect his feet and are reusable. Currently, I only use the boots on his hind feet. He takes a size Large and just like our own shoes, you need to get the correct size for you dog. *******IMPORTANT*******DO NOT LEAVE THESE BOOTS ON YOUR PET’S FEET FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME!!! They are snug around the neck of the boot, so I would suggest removing them immediately after you return from walking. I wouldn’t suggest using them for indoor traction for any period of time.Eli12

We got these for our parents dog because everywhere they can take him out in the winter has giant chunks of salt that really bother his paws. The top of the boots are very tight! Be very careful if your dog has sore legs or paws, don't put these on unless you cut the tops to let up some pressure. I bought the Lg size for a pit bull and they fit well besides being tight at the top. Unfortunately the dog we got them for had a bad experience, within a few minutes they were hurting him, and even more to get them off. They should be fine now that we cut them but hoping he will have forgotten the unpleasant experience by next winter. We tried the same ones on our small dog and they were tight on his legs which were half the size or less of the pitbulls. If your dog has very arthritic legs or paws, or even if they're sensitive you may want to get the more permanent type boots that are more gentle to get on/offcatelynprovos-0

My pup had a benign growth on his leg removed because he was constantly licking it. I was dreading the cone because he absolutely hates it and can’t eat or drink with it on or go up and down steps on his own. We tried this sleeve and it has been absolutely perfect. Great surgical suit. Good quality material and workmanship plus it looks fabulous! If your dog needs to wear something to stop them interfering with incisions post surgery then this suit works a treat and is much kinder to them than the dreaded cone. Very glad I purchased this. This is a very nicely built, quality tool. The self-cleaning mechanism works perfectly. Its odd, though. I have two Pomeranians, and it alright on one but rarely picks up any hair at all on the other. So even though its well-made, it doesn't really work as well as I'd like. This might have more to do with the dogs in question or my own ability at grooming with a slicker (I've done my research, but I'm definitely a novice) rather than the design of the tool. To rephrase, I don't find it especially effective, but that might go for all slicker brushes, not just this one. But because I have no basis of comparison, all I can say is that its well-made, and that your mileage may vary. I will try to update this review if my opinion changes. PS: I understand that its not entirely fair to hate on a product just because the user isn't good at using it. I just wanted to share my own experiencesa.

Second one I've purchased. This is great for brushing your dog off indoors, and then discarding the pills of fur into the garbage. The tiny wiry rods gets deep, which is good for long-haired dogs. I use this mainly on my Labrador Retriever, but have also tried while babysitting a long-haired retriever. The handle is long and ergonomic. The collected hairs stay on, and the only mess is from my dog shaking off after I brush him (this results in a bit of hair flying off his body). I should point out I usually only brush the top and sides of my dog. Because of the size of this item's brush head, it's not easy to go into the armpits and other crevices. But for my dog, most of his shedding is from hair on top and to the sides. It took me a while to train him to stand still for this as my dog is pretty rambunctious, but it is not painful at all. In fact, I suspect it feels good, especially during the hot months! I strongly recommend this item for your dog(s). This item, however, isn't good for brushing for fleas/flea dirt. For that, I recommend something else.N.S.

I finally found a small brush that won't hurt my dog! My dog is medium sized shihzu-poddle mixed and the brushes I bought at PETSMART was just too big. The teeth were too long and it hurt my dog. This brush works great on my curly dog. Works on him when he has short hair, and when his hair grows out to medium length. Definitely easier to get his matted hair untangled with this brush. If your dog has semi-short hair, just make sure you don't push the brush into his/her skin. Pros: 1. Good for small dogs 2. Easy to clean 3. Since it has the self-cleaning mechanism, I don't have to use a pencil or my fingers to dig into the brush anymore. Cons: 1. Nothing to complain aboutP.

This product works very well. I have others I do like more but this one is a great one. Lathers well in the bath and has a nice smell. Also lasts quite a while. We are pet groomers and this brand stands up well to our higher end shampoos and conditioners .shelby.z

My rescue has had extremely sensitive skin since we adopted him. He really suffers in the spring and is constantly chewing on his feet and scratching his tummy from laying in the grass. He doesn't have extreme allergies but I could really tell the itching bothered him so I started looking for some options. This spray is a game changer for him. My dog always gets a couple of spots in the spring and summer that he will Chouette and scratch at. We use gentle shampoos, put oil in his food, but he still gets a couple of spots. The spray worked great. We used it on him and he chewed and scratched much less at the two spots he always goes after. One on his paw and one on his hind leg. My dog almost constantly licks her feet. I have tried so many different ointments and sprays and nothing seems to work. I was excited to give this hydrocortisone spray a try. Surprisingly it worked. I used two sprays on each of her front feet and then let it air dry (not any easy thing to do). She still licks her feet occasionally but not nearly as bad as before. These were wider and thicker than the previous brand we had been using. The tabs are not as handy as the entire end being "Velcro", but are not difficult to use. I will definitely be switching to these moving forward.Dave

I was on frontline for years but when I thought I saw a couple fleas on my dogs in September 2020, I decided to make a switch to Advantage II for my cats and Advantix II for my dogs— BIGGEST mistake of my life (seriously, like over any horrible exes). I have $515.97 in receipts I submitted to the company (which was as horrible as the experience, which I will get to) and spent an additional $70 in store (in which I cannot find the receipt) since September 2020 to December. I followed every tip on the website and insert and my animals were still covered. I applied perfectly. I applied initially weekly, vacuum daily, steam cleaned, wash bedding constantly, etc. I don’t even have carpet but on the stairs and have treated the stairs and couches with Predcor. I even bought those flea traps with the sticky bottoms. I am not including any of this in that total I spent– that was all on the flea medications themselves for the 6 animals. I have saved some, not all, of the vials so on 11/13 I called Elanco. They denied my request for any type of refund. They questioned my exact dosage dates and frequency more than a doctor wants to know about your menstrual cycles but I took my best guesses, for all 6 animals although I did know what schedule they were on but didn't have it in front of me. Then they said that the product was probably not working because I bathed my dogs initially at the beginning 48 hours before application?? Their website TELLS you to bathe them before application (see 2nd screenshot posted)! I stopped bathing them after the 2nd application as it wasn't working and the dogs were miserable and only tried 2 cats (and really only 1 successfully because we all know how that goes). They then told me that I didn't give the product long enough?? Their website states (see 3rd screenshot) and is the same for Advantage II "K9 Advantix® II kills fleas within 12 hours. New fleas that jump on the dog from the surroundings, such as grass, carpet and pet bedding, are killed within 2 hours with protection against further infestation for at least 4 weeks." I tried their products, $600 worth on 6 animals, as scheduled, no missed doses for 4 months. I can’t blame it on just one animal or one batch—it didn’t work on 6, or one batch! I am very upset. Not only have I wasted money on these but I have bought corresponding products, sprays for the beddings, flea traps, etc. I FINALLY called Terminex and had to spend 12 hours clearing out under my beds, closets, getting everything off my floors, moving furniture etc. (time I will never get back) and getting my children and pets out of the house and went back to the brand that works: FRONTLINE! NO MORE FLEAS– what I should have done in the first place. I am so upset not by the fact that the product didn't work but by the way the company handled it, dodging any responsibility from blaming it on the baths they recommend to the length of time I gave it when they could have just refunded me and had someone that isn't going to not only post this review every place I bought it (not just here) but every other place that allows a review to include social media.Intelhottie

We bought Advantix liquid application anti-flea and tick treatment because it is effective, was less expensive and did not require a prescription. We had easily and successfully used liquid Advantix for years with our Plott hound mix. We now have a beagle. Beagle hair is different; it's thick, coarse, oily, kind of water proof and difficult to part in order to properly apply the liquid to the skin. Advantix is a very good product, but pet owners may want to assess their pet's coat to determine how the liquid application could be applied.Gary

My dog was getting ticks so I purchased this. I have used it in the past with great success when it had the Bayer logo on it . The one I received has the Elanco brand logo on it. I used 1 bottle and It was like I used nothing at all. Mind you I walk my dog and when he comes in the house I would find 2 or 3 live ticks walking on him. So I figured ok maybe it didnt work or I didnt wait long enough. After about 10 days of this I applied another bottle and again nothing. He still kept coming in the house with ticks every time. So I'm not sure exactly what's going on but the package I received appeared to be authentic. All serial numbers matched and packages were sealed well. Never had this happen before but definitely going back to Frontline Plus.kschoern

Great fitting harness and the adjustable neck section is great . I've had other harnesses in the past and whilst they fit my English Staffordshire around the body I found they got to a point where they were difficult to get on and off over his big lump of a head . Overall a great product and I'll definitely look at getting the bigger one once he outgrows this one .Scott M

I have a 70lb Xoloitzcuintli (Mexican Hairless). I purchased both the Hurtta Cooling Coat and the Swamp Cooler Dog Vest by Ruffwear. Both are made from similar material and work the same way. The Hurtta coat has much more coverage, has extended hind end flaps and front chest flaps, resembles a horse jacket. Whereas the Ruffwear is more of a fitted vest. I would have given the Hurtta Cooling Coat 5 stars however, the stitching that secured the chest strap isn't reinforced and tore out of the material the first time used. I then outfitted the dog in the Ruffwear Swamp Vest, which worked beautifully. Since my dog is hairless it was easy to feel how well the vest worked. Placing my hand on exposed skin, then touching skin under the vest, there was a noticeable difference in temperature however his skin was dry – just cooler. I have stitched the Hurtta strap back on and feel it will be equally as good if not better than the Ruffwear due to it's increased surface area.Laura

My active Doberman is recovering from a spinal injury and needs to be confined. This pen is perfect. The quality is top-notch, with plenty of clear and illustrated instructions that are really not even necessary as it's so simple to set up. My one and only quibble is that the box opened nearly the full length of the side during shipping. I think the packing tape gave way. All parts were intact and nothing was damaged so just FYI. I'm now going to buy another one of these for the back yard. I was going to transport this one in and out rather than spend the money since it's (I'm hoping) not a life-long need, but while it's so easy to fold and move, it is pretty heavyweight (42") so it'd be a bit of a chore for me to do often. She's never been a jumper, especially not now, and I don't leave her alone outside so I could easily go with a lower height that's less expensive and more portable (keep in the shade) for the yard.jacy

I ordered several of these to use as barriers to prevent my young Border Collie from running through the mud in our back yard after it rains. I set them up just off the patio several feet to allow him some space in the grass without giving him free reign of the whole yard to run through. They are very easy to set up, take down, and store! The quality is excellent – the panels are very sturdy, the clips are easy to use, and the pins to anchor them in the ground are a great length and weight. I could not be happier with this purchase! I bought this exercise pen. It was a really good price. I had shopped around and believe you me. It was the cheapest. However it is huge for the tiny puppy that we have in it! I am currently using it indoors. But it does come with u-pegs to help secure it to the ground for outdoor use. I love it!Nathalie

I bought the medium size crate for my husky/pit bull mix. It got here super fast and was undamaged. All the parts fit and instructions were easy to follow. I was glad it came partially assembled. I put it together by myself and that is saying alot, because as a 60 year old woman it was pretty heavy! I did zip tie the top shut and also use a plastic coated tie out cable to reinforce the door. I was unsure the locks would remain shut if he wanted to get out. My dog seems to appreciate the space inside the crate. I was worried about the floor wiring, so I put a thick, flat quilt in there to cover it. I have been using it for 5 days and so far, it has been good. I am happy he has more space and the strength of the crate seems to be good. I suppose we shall see over the long haul, but at this point, it's working well. I would recommend this product to anyone and I'm saving up to buy 2 more for my other big dogs. It gives me peace of mind to know he is safe, comfortable and contained when I have to leave my home.Tina C.

I wish this was the first crate I bought for my dog. She wrecked 2 of the wire metal crates and even escaped from one. I have no idea how she damaged the other crates without hurting herself in the process. NOW! I do not worry about that. She tries to chew on the bars but only manages to peel some of the dark coating off. She is 60 lbs and she shuffles her bedding around a bit but she can not bend the bars or move the placement of the crate in any way. Two of the bars were bent during shipping so one of the screw placements does not align. But that has not decreased the integrity of the crate at all. This crate has made me a lot more relaxed to know that when I leave the dog is safe. It's also really easy to collapse and fold up and to add or remove the wheels. I'll be traveling with the dog and the crate shortly and am confident that it will be easy. Thank youMega

I purchased this kennel five years ago. When I rescued our Border Collie they told me she would escape every kind of kennel. And I thought, “She won’t break out of a metal kennel.” Well, she tore through two metal kennels, bent them beyond use, and hopped or walked them across rooms!! So, I began the search. I bought this steel kennel, with two action locking, and “Bailey” could not get out of it! She had a horrible first year of life and now we have been loving on her for five years. She is still afraid of men. And now Bailey uses her steel kennel as her “Safety Place”. If we have company over or a repair man come in, she “tells” them what she thinks, Ha, and then retreats to her kennel. We just returned from a 42 day vacation where we slept at different KOAs and hotels and the kennel came with us!! We simply loaded it in the back of the truck and she knew she was safe everywhere we went. It’s on rollers so no problem getting it in and out. I have the 36” size. I’m a lady, 5’3”, in my 60’s and I can handle moving the kennel. It’s a bit heavy I admit, but once it’s on the ground it rolls like a charm. Definitely worth every penny!Debi C.M.

I have three dogs who all love these Benebones (Lab, Golden Retriever, and Amstaf). They have Different flavors of these bones and my dogs love all of the flavors. The dentist has remarked about how clean their teeth are, which I think is in great part due to these Benebones. They have laundry basket full of toys and since these Benebones are heavier than most of their other toys, they usually settle toward the bottom of the basket. It is so funny to watch them digging through the other toys to get to their Benebones. Over several months, one knob on one of the Benebones was chewed down (little shreads at the time, not a harmful chunk), which meant I bought another round of Benebones for all of them. One of my dogs had to have surgery because she swallowed a chunk of a Kong toy, but even though she is a strong chewer (Bully breed) and can demolish most toys in 15 minutes or less, these Benebones last months before they need to be replaced. I watch their toys to make sure nothing starts coming apart that could necessitate another trip to doggie ER ($6,000 bill and 5 days in hospital). The price of the Benebones may seem a little high, but if you can avoid trip to doggie hospital for intestinal blockage and all the pain your dog would suffer, they are a good investment. It is cute to see each of three dogs grab one knob on a Benebone and pull in three different directions. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Great design and material for all dogs, but especially for Bully types.Bootsie

I gave our sweet pup the Benebone bone as soon as it arrived. It was the perfect size for her, she could carry it easily, and manipulate it as she chewed. I was very happy thinking I had found a great replacement for the deer antlers she loved to chew, but are very expensive to replace. It wasnt long, however, before her strong chewing had created hundreds of very sharp indentations all along the bone. She often will bring her chew toy to ya to help hold while she chews, but its impossible to hold it with all the sharp edges. She doesnt like it very much now, because Im sure it causes pain to her lips and tongue. Unfortunately, It will have to be discarded . Plastic just isnt right for our dog.gymmom56

Just arrived today and my 1 yr old lab/pitt mix showed immediate interest. I bought this so he could have an "indoor stick" because he keeps bringing in lots of sticks and leaving wood chips everywhere. My dog's more of a gnawer than a heavy chewer (except with wood. He chews wood like a professional wood chipping machine), but after less than 30 minutes he'd already worn down one end slightly (see picture). I think it's the material – it's really really hard and has no give, so it kinda just shaves pieces off instead. I was expecting more of a stretchy nylabone toy. I'm definitely going to have to keep an eye on him with this, but he definitely likes it!lprongs

I bought to take my new cat to the vet. He was only 9 lbs at the time so I assumed it would be more than enough for him. Upon bringing him home it literally fell apart and he got loose outside and had to be chased down. I followed the little instructions there were, latched and tightened everything the was to tighten and it still fell apart.
