I am a vet assistant, and I see all kinds of animals coming in with different skin conditions or allergies and always felt so bad for them and their owners….. then I got a dog with allergies and then I found out what it's really like…. it is devastating watching your dog itch and scratch to the point of pulling their hair out, then when the hair is gone… then there goes their skin…. they will make themselves bleed and still won't stop. I tried benadryl I tried EVERYTHING, had to even do skin antibiotics and steroid Injections and still he was itching…. so… the dr tried him on this….. now… first thing I will say is this medication isn't cheap especially for bigger dogs (if you have a 10lbs dog it's not going to be too bad) but my poor dog had to start off taking 2 16mg 2 times a day and it was roughly 300 for the first month, however from there you taper down and after a few months I got him down to half a tablet once daily…. anyway…. this medication worked like a dream for him. He hasn't had any issues for over a year now and although sometimes he scratches its more of a normal itch. This medication literally saved him and my sanity. Love this product. My poor sheltie gets these tribble rashes on her belly and the vet gave her a skin antibiotic plus a steroid shot to see if it was maybe a bacteria infection but the rash remained so i just assumed the rash was from some skin allergy she must have from God knows what. I saw this product at Petco and decided to give it a try. It got rid of the rash within about two weeks of using it about three times a day and she doesn't lick it off like the Benadryl cream i had been putting on her in the beginning. I also changed her food to Hills science for sensitive skin and stomach along with giving her the Septiderm-v shampoo bath every couple of weeks and overall it seems to be working! So I have a beabull, mostly English bulldog. He’s a 7/8 mix. Out of nowhere his cute little black nose started getting crusty and cracked. I waited a while and it didn’t let up. I bought this for my dog’s (14 year old Shar Pei) keratin buildup on his nose and paws. It dissolved the stuff great and I was able to wipe off the stuff on his paws after one application. That was really impressive. My dog has fairly mild Hyperkeratosis but his nose gets a fairly thick layer of buildup, and this product allows you to remove it fairly easily after a few applications over a couple days and a cooperative pooch. I was really impressed with how well it worked. I use it now preventatively which prevents bad buildup on his nose and paws, so all in all I’m certainly a big fan. I recommend at least the 2oz can if you think you’ll use it on the paws. The 2 oz can generally lasts me a couple months even with multiple applications per day. Purchased this product with not much confidence made a huge difference in my GSD allergies. Sprayed on the area he was chewing when he would begin chewing. I have used Happy Jack 40+ years but after moving off the farm 15 years ago forgot all about it and began using holistic medications, etc. Well, I do rescue and got a little jack russell with 70% of her body scarlet, oozie red, infected red ears, thick red, hairless legs, tail, chest and face. She had been ill for so long her skin was very thick and discolored. I spent hundred of dollars for 4 months without results then ran across Happy Jack again in the Tractor Supply. I bought mange medicine instead of the dip I had used before and, within 32 (I counted them) hours, her itching has stopped, her skin is now pink not red and her little swollen paws and now a normal size. I tried other products and then I heard of this one from a friend, bought it and brought home and put it in a spray bottle to evenly spray her entire body (except in her ears, eyes, mouth or sanitary areas) and to my surprise I Seen instant relief for her and she was able to sleep peacefully and so was I. I bought all mange treatments from happy jack… I have a white pit with enlarged paw found out it was NOT yeast like the lying vet said it was…..another vet told me it was cancer? only after years of bull! money sucking vet visits! to find out it was mange attacking the animals for YEARS ! I stopped giving apoquel to my dog, not only because of the expense (costing more than $200 a month), but also because of all the reviews I have read about the danger to a dog's immune system with prolonged use. I have intentionally waited to write a review because I wanted to give enough time to see if the Fidoplex was going to make a difference. We took our Newfie/Lab to the vet to get vaccinated for a training class. Shortly after his shots, he developed a skin allergy with two hot spots on each hip. My Labrador had stitches in her front leg right on the ankle joint so it was at high risk of infection as very close to the bone. I was hoping this would negate the need for the huge buster collar however, she would still lick at it through the sleeve and make it wet therefore increasing the risk of infection to the wound. She therefore still had to wear the buster collar as well as the sleeve to stop her licking it. Within a couple of days, there was a hole in the material of the sleeve and since then, a further tear has developed, so the quality of the material is not that good. She has also worked out how to get her leg out of it so all in all, it hasn’t been that great! That said, I would still recommend using one as it was better than not having the wound covered at all but for me, it didn’t negate the need for a buster collar unfortunately.Julieann
1 Very happy owner and one calm snoring Dog. He`s been at the top of his leg the last few days and licked it raw . No socks long enough and a long sleeved T shirt was not a success . Ordered this sleeve out of desperation . Money well spent ….. came in a flash and as soon as I put it on he seemed really excited and happy, running round barking the way he does before we go a walk. Now he`s sleeping and not looked at his leg once. Its made of a sweatshirt type fabric , the leg size is more important than body girth as there is lots of Velcro and poppers so easy to adjust so it fits comfortably , I`m glad I did not go for the XL as his chest measurement was borderline the L fits perfectly.
