I like that this unit does not take up a lot of space and with the window kit, I can keep my window and screen intact. Also, compared to other portable units, this one is not very loud. I wanted to give less than 1 star if I could. The product itself is faulty and generates a lot more water than usual. And the return process isn’t good either. 98 degrees in ENC the day my shipment arrived. I waited a full 24 hours before opening the box, standing it upright as recommend because I REALLY wanted it to work as intended. I had a window AC die on me and was hesitant to buy another since I'm not sure how I'll get it out and disposed of. I'm not that old yet but the one that died had lasted over 15 years and hopefully I'll get at least 10 out of this one. I'll be even more in a quandary about what to do then. This one will roll out to where you need to get rid of it from. So far I'm very happy I bought this unit. If I decide i want to move it to another spot in mt house all I have to is pick another window and it's very to move it and put it there. There were some negative comments about the heater mode but hopefully it will perform as well as the cooling. So far it hasn't been necessary to use the drain tube supplied but the instructions make it seem quite easy to accomplish. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a really effective AC/heater combo that can be programmed and placed in a static location. It keeps the entire top level of my townhome really comfortable without running all day and night. The remote works fine, the controls are easy. This is a great deal for the price. The only drawback is that the sound can be prohibitive if you're using this near a workspace where a mic is in use. I had to move it to the other side of the room so it wouldn't drown out my normal speaking voice on conference calls.Adrienne C.

We like the unit. The pricing was competitive in relation to other 12,000 BTU units. The units SACC rating is 8150, mid-good range. The unit specified more truthfully that it is meant for no more than 200-300 square room coverage. It does a good job of cooling the space in a relatively short time. I have not used the other modes. (Note: Some may get the humidifying mode confused with the cooling mode. If one uses the humidifying mode, one has to be careful to release the buildup of water/condensation.) With the cooling mode, warm room air is blown out the exhaust, so moisture buildup is much less. There is an overflow protection warning. I rated the unit "comparably" as quiet, especially in the low fan setting. Rather like white noise. I have two other different make portables in our condo. Portables all make some noise. After all, they use a hefty power fan. The noise factor is rather similar in all portable air conditioners — between 45 and 60. This unit's decibel range is in the mid-range roughly; high = mid 50s, low = high 40s. We have no problem using the low fan mode while sleeping, but we are used to having a fan in the bedroom. We turn the unit on high a half an hour before resting and then on low just before resting. There is a specific Sleep Mode function, if one wants to use that. Note: The compressor has a protection element, so it takes a few minutes of running with just the fan functioning before the cooling boots in . . . . The swing and timer options work very well. The remote is good, but one needs to make certain that it is level with and pointing directly at the front black digital strip on the unit. The two filters are good. As always, it important to allow about one and a half to two feet of no obstruction to the air inputs. . . . The provided slide bar, insulation, and piping for the window exhaust are adequate. (We had to get another product unit for our patio door. This other unit came with slide extensions long enough for the length of a patio door window. This unit doesn't have a slider long enough.) One has to be careful with the piping. This unit's piping is reasonable in quality, but not anything approaching heavy duty. I used some generic magic eraser type sponges to better stabilize the slider bar. I also used some extra, narrow strip insulation on the slide bar so that the air gaps were almost non-existent. This is doubly important for efficiency of every mode. . . . The stipulation of thirty days from ordering for immediate return, due to some faultiness (not buyer's remorse), and the one year warranty are reasonable. Our credit card doubles the warranty time. The shipping box was well fortified and protected within. PS. The manual is rather minimal but adequate.blkoven2009

Just bought this unit SLACHT128 on Ebay last week (01-09237-12099) and started using two days ago. No issues yet. I bought it's little sister the SLACHT108 10000 btu model six (6) weeks ago and was able to test the heat function this month when it was in the 40s outside. so impressed with the heat function I ordered this higher btu model. So far Ive been able to ditch mult floor space heaters and just use the one of these to maintain approx 2/3 of my downstairs (1000sf) at 72 degrees. With this second one downstairs I'm expecting to be able to use as primary heat for 3000sf since heat rises upstairs. This is also a year where I want electric heat and not rely on expensive natural gas furnace for heatbrbog-53

Unit delivered promptly. Been using it for 2 1/2 weeks. Window kit is better than another brand i used. Works well in cool or dehumidifier modes. Just got this AC today and I am completely happy with it. With the temperature being over 90 degrees outside, this AC unit completely cooled my room and I only set it to 70 degrees. After about 2 hours it was just too cold in my room so I had to turn up the temp (that's a good thing). My previous AC never got this cold and this unit cools all the way down to 60 degrees! Even with 100 degree weather outside I can't imagine ever using this AC at it's coldest setting. So far I am very pleased 🙂rolandj777

This little machine was a life saver this past week. We frequently go to Disney World for the day and take water packs. Our freezer's ice machine doesn't make enough for the whole family so this was a great purchase for that. Then along came Hurricane Irma. We immediately started making ice to stock the freezer and fridge in the event that we lost power. I'm so glad we did because we did indeed lose power and we were able to take all that extra ice and keep our perishables cold. The machine is quiet and so easy to use!Charles P.

I was a little hesitant to order an appliance online due to concerns damage during shipping.I pleasantly surprised to see that the beverage cooler is double boxed and very well protected. Content of the box was very easy: simply cut the straps and box slides over the top of the device. The cooler then be on a pedestal resistant styrofoam and plastic corrugated. I used that to slide it close to its final position in the kitchen and simply shook off the pedestal and pushed the refrigerator shelves location.The designated were held in place with tape (which is easily removed without leaving any residue. ) and are quite sturdy.After prescribed waiting 24 hours to resolve coolant plug and let the water run for an empty hour in the highest position. This is the procedure described in the manual. The compressor is surprisingly quiet and has a remarkable rattle during startup and shutdown. the set temperature well quickly.The cooler is now fully equipped and all contents are cooled evenly reached. I keep it set at 40 degrees, which seems fair for most beverages.The LED light is nice and right in its brightness. Brightness is adjustable simply either in or out, but that is acceptable but the door remains free glass condensation and is slightly opaque.The door seal is very good.Overall quality construction gives the impression of a product well done and hopefully last few years without problems.Kimberly H.

I like this dustbin. It is a little stronger than I expected, but I have read some comments that I mentioned, so I was not surprised. Not terribly high, simply remarkable. I'm used to it now. The sensor is accurate notion most of the time, such as 90%. I do not like the way you have to completely take apart taking it from the bag. I had one in the past that had a can in the can and you just remove the inner can and that's all. This definitely takes some time to undo everything and return then put everything with a new bag. I know some people just take the inner RKM and the bag is folded over the outside of the truck which would save a lot of trouble, but I do not like it you can see the garbage bag over the edge. I have all this can because it can be plugged. I was going through too many batteries with my last. I had to buy the adapter separately, but it was only $ 11. Overall, decent trash bucket.Rick K.

This portable air conditioning unit is a real life saver. I live in Louisiana, and have a small wood working shop in my garage (440sq foot) with a 10 foot ceiling, and I’m amazed at how well it cooled the space, especially as there’s a big gap above the garage door. In the summer it gets unbearably hot, like a sauna, so this unit is a life saver!! I’m sure it’d be far more efficient in a properly closed off room, but I set it going about an hour before I want to work and when I go in it’s nice and cool. I found the unit very easy to set up and understand the controls, and I really liked that it included laminated quick start guides (in English, French and Spanish) for those like me who don’t like reading the “big manual”. The unit is fairly compact and looks pretty plain, but still nice looking, so it’s perfect for not attracting too much attention. The unit is fairly heavy but not overly so, and being on casters I found it easy to move, even over plush carpet. I am impressed at how quiet it is even on its highest setting. The air comes out from the top of the unit at about a 45 degree angle, so the cool air is projected into the room and circulates rather than cooling just around the unit. The removable filter is very easy to remove, and the drainage pipe also I found easy to setup and use. I really love this unit, it feels well made, like it’ll last, and is very efficient for it’s compact size, I highly recommend this Delonghi air conditioner, it’s size and power make it very versatile.Jon79

Last hurricane season, we lost power for almost a whole week due to Hurricane Ida. We end up getting a generator to keep 2 of our fridges running but it would have been nice to have a window A/C unit or a portable A/C unit to cool down the master bedroom where we were all sleeping. We had portable fans for air circulation, but it got extremely humid inside the house due to the season! The wife and daughter were miserable. We are prepared this upcoming hurricane season, which starts in June. I test ran this unit for an hour and man, does it get cold. I think I prefer this portable unit over a window unit cause it easier to store away when it no longer needed. Unit was easy to setup. Affixed the window kit plate to window opening and seal the gap with the include foam seal. Attached the provided air hoses; one end twist connects to the portable A/C unit and the other end snap into the window kit plate. Connect unit to powered outlet and it ready to start cooling. The unit was even easier to use due to just having just basic function like cool, dehumidify, & fan only mode. The units sit on casters which makes repositioning a breeze. It comes with a remote control where you can turn it on/off or set programmable timer, which make it convenient. When you are done using the remote, it can be store at the top to the unit, which is a plus. The filter for this unit is washable / reusable, so there no need to ever waste more money on having to buy filters. If you need a portable A/C unit for the same reason as me, I do recommend setting this up in the smallest room in the house where you can sleep. Since it a temp situation, it easier for the unit to cool down a smaller room. I’m hoping that we never have to use this unit, but we are ready just in case.aebn2001

Easy to setup, works reasonably well; met my expectations: providing relief from the unbearable heat in our bedroom in a heat wave. If I had expected "perfection", I'd be very disappointed. 1. The window kit is way too short; I had to extend it using cardboard. Best suited for small windows as shown. I did not attempt to seal it well around it cause it hasn't got too hot. (keep this in mind when reading below) 2. When outside temperature was 31-32C, it was able to cool our bedroom temperature down to about 25-26C at the lowest temp setting and full blast. Our master suite is about 400sf, including the bathroom and it is west facing. (With better sealing around the window, I'd expect some performance improvement.) If outside reaches 40+C like last year, it'll still be quite hot inside. Again, I just expected some relief from it; it does an OK job. 3. If I want complete comfort in our situation, I'd need to get a unit designed for cooling 800 sf at least. (If our room faces north or east, I'd expect this unit to be sufficient.) 4. The air coming out of the unit is not as cold as I anticipated. At the lowest temp setting, the air comes out at 18C. Not sure if this is normal. 5. Lots of water comes out from the tube in the back. We have pretty low humidity here in BC, generally not higher than 60-75% in the summer. If you live somewhere very humid and leave it on all night, you'd need a 2-3 gallon catch container overnight just to be sure. 6. The noise level is acceptable but I wouldn't call it quiet. This is highly subjective, of course. 7. Only used it 4 days (less than 5-6hrs per day) this summer. What we don't know is its durability. Only time will tell. Hope this helps a little bit.Jay Y

I bought this unit because of the oval low-profile window insert (advertised and shown on both Walmart and Amazon's website) which offers far more security for one-story homes or lower level apartments. After almost broking my back to get this unit home from the store, (after already waiting a week for it during blazing heat) I then find out that Emerson has changed the insert to the super-generic and much wider and larger round (and I'm sure much cheaper for them) insert which makes it so much easier now for thieves to get access into your house or apartment when you are not there. Emerson claims that it was last years model that had the oval window insert, (but with the same exact model number as mine) and magically now they do not have any more oval inserts or even access to just one more (for me), while also claiming that they are no longer even made. Funny how many other companies are still offering these oval inserts with (some of) their units, isn't it? Plus these oval low-profile inserts are being sold (separately) online, but a supergiant company like Emerson can't get access to just one more. Why should I have to now go online and spend another $40 or more on what was supposed to be included? Plus most of those 3rd party oval inserts being sold or made super-cheap and flimsy, and are not a good fit a lot of buyers are claiming. Customer service used to be so much better in the past, and sadly it is so rapidly deteriorating along with the quality of products now being made. I will update this review if Emerson (been on the phone for 3 days with them, and they promised that a supervisor would call me back on Monday, but now I am pretty sure that I'm getting nothing but the run-around) decides to supply me with the oval insert that they have Walmart, Amazon and I am sure everyone else all advertising that comes with this unit. PS. Plus to make this even much worst, I can't even attach the insert that came with it onto the back of a board before placing it into the window (for much added security) because this insert, unlike all of the oval inserts, is not completely flat on either side, making it impossible ( or at the very least far more difficult with a lot of modifications) to get a good or decent seal against the (outside) board. I think that this may well be the 1st one-star I have ever given in years out of hundreds and mainly majority 5 stars that I normally give. I waited a week (while my bedroom roasted) for it to come to the store, and now I have to rebox it and wrestle it back to the store and find a different unit (not from Emerson) and hope that they haven't also pulled a profit-making switcheroo while still having all of their sellers advertising something different which is what Emerson is purposely doing.Kevin123

Relatively easy set up. Cools a 10X10 room extremely well, so I imagine it would cool a larger room well too. I like not having to monitor and empty a water well. Only one blower speed, would have liked a Low-High blower power. Not as quiet as I expected. Not enough weather stripping to block openings in the spaces between window and vent panel.tracey

I purchased this 6/6/2019 and used it during the night last summer. I live in Seattle so we don’t have horrible heat to deal with so this didn’t have to work too hard. It was drained and put away for the winter. I got it out last Sunday 7/12/20 and installed it to use this summer. We used it for 7 days In 2020 and the motor seized, white smoke came out, and we had a smell of burning plastic. My guess is the bearings went. We have another portable air conditioner from LG that we’ve had for about 7 years now. Not an issue with it yet. I’d avoid the Emerson Quiet Kool.dgordon

Easy hookup to the window, just snaps into place with 4 tabs. Set it up to connect with my iphone and I can turn it on and control it from anywhere in the house as long as I'm connected to the home wifi. Blows very cold A/C, enough to cool 2 rooms. I checked the drain after having it for a couple of months and nothing drained out, so it's great not to have to have a drain hooked up or worry about it building up. It does have a code if the reservoir for some reason would fill up. Haven't tried the heat setting, but have used the fan. It's good to run the fan for a while after using the A/C to avoid any musty/moldy buildup (you should in your car also). Using the inverter technology it doesn't draw much current so it is good on the utility bill. Great unit. Very pleased with it.Vecna

I absoutely love this heat pump, its heating my large apartment so far with no issues and it did a great job in the summer! Its insanely quiet and sips power. It also looks way better than any dual hose high efficiency portable ac because of the hose in hose design. Now for the bad. I was looking all around the insides with my flashlight because i wanted to see all the cool tech in this unit and I spotted what is either a design flaw or a manufacturing defect. The air filter for the upper coil doesn't reach all the way down, so pet hair and dirt bypass the filter constantly. If you look at the bottom of my air filter on my unit, you can see its designed to slot into a plastic barrier of some sort to stop this from happening but it was either not installed on my unit or was forgotten in the design. Its indoor temperature monitoring also seems to be a little off but that's not a big deal. This is still the best portable ac on the market by a huge margin and I would absolutely recommend one of these to a friend! Hopefully, whynter can work with their manufacturer to get this filter issue fixed.The Inappropriate Maker

Stopped working after 20 days with a refrigerant leak. Best Buy offers an incredibly small 15 day return window and will do absolutely nothing to help – they won't even let you upgrade to Totaltech Membership later. Incredibly frustrating experience with this vendor and this product. I will get my money back and purchase a different product from a customer oriented brand. Aside from the total failure, I would also point out that the unit is very loud, and at it's best provided very little cooling. It's unwieldy and cheaply constructed. The window bracket does not fit most windows. One more thing – there are many other brands selling this exact model of AC. You can look for themworstbuy

this product comes with instructions but not written from someone who speaks english. you have to read it over and over. the parts do not fit in your window without you adding pieces of lumber to elevate the part and the plastic slide has to be cut or the other parts will not attach to it. the fan levels are a joke?? the noise omg hope you have ear plugs for night time.???? the machine does not cool down a room even under the size stated. If you use the remote you need to be standing in front of the machine and thats good because the panel on top is hard to make work. over all it is not worth the price but maybe a 1/4 of it .herb

Really powerful for a small bedroom and adjacent rooms, and it has been a godsend in the hot summer. Two things are keeping this from a 5-star rating. The first is the remote. It works only in a narrow arc and doesn't show the current settings on it via lcd. The second, is that the vent plate doesn't fit well in smaller windows. We had to make modifications to get it to seat in ours. So, check the dimensions if this is a concern for you.tallasaa

Overall, if you can get this unit in one piece, it appears to be value for your money, particularly at season end sales. Fromn what I saw inside, it appears well built. The remote works well…once you install two AAA batteries. Heads up for Canadian buyers, the temperature readings are in fahrenheit…no Celsius switching that I could find.Anonymous

After less than 10 uses, the unit would only cool for a minute or two after turning on and then only the fan would run and blow hot air from outside into the room, making it hotter than before. Customer service was helpful in determining the unit was defective, but we did not purchase a warranty so the best they could do was 30% off a new unit. Annoying but understandable I suppose. Judging by a few other comments, they also had an issue but had the warranty and received new units. Seems like the warranty is a good purchase, as the unit was great the few times it did work properly for me. 3 stars for the way it ran beforehand and the good customer service, just wish it would've lasted at all for me and seemingly a few others.Peter

I used my Newair AC/Heat unit at my Mom's house when her HVAC unit went out. The unit heated and cooled her large living and dining area quickly. Several parts to the unit were lost in transit when we sold her house. An excellent rep named Hilary quickly responded to my inquiry to replace the parts with a quote (which was quite reasonable). I bought my air conditioner around 2015 and it works very well. I use this in my bedroom instead of our central air conditioning because it is not so powerful in there. Keeps the room nice and cool. Customer service is also very good. My remote stopped working. Since I have it a long time, the replacement costs $5.00. If I ever have to replace it, I would consider getting another NewAir.Barb

I couldn't have asked for more. Works well in a fairly large bedroom. Quiet operation across all fan speeds. The remote and remote sensing work great as well as the electronic controls and something I could only find those features on higher priced units. And the energy efficiency is fantastic. I’d read in some reviews that this AC doesn’t get very cool and I was hoping that they were wrong, but I unfortunately agree. My room is about 9×10, and it takes so long for it to cool down even a degree or two, even when it’s not that hot. The air coming out doesn’t even feel that cool which is disappointing. I wouldn’t really recommend it and kind of wish I’d spent more to get something better. I have a very old Frigidaire that works great, but as they say, they don’t make things like they used to.Radiate

I had to rearrange my bedroom in order to use the exhaust window unit. It is not recommended to have more than one 90 degree in that 7 foot hose. It says 10 foot on the instructions, details, but the reality is it maybe 86 in Long. Other than that, I am really happy with the way the unit operates. I did have to move one of the battery positive prongs on the remote control by placing plastic behind it, that is not a good design, the batteries were not making contact, but now everything seems to work fine. I have not tried the timer yet.Bob

But it arrived in nice packaging and if it wasn't for the sticker that said it had been remanufactured I would not have known. owner's manual accessories and remote were packaged the same as if they had come with a brand new unit. This is a great unit as far as cooling. My two issues would be the exhaust hose is too short and the power cord is way too short. These two factors significantly limit it's portability. With that said, I am going to purchase two more. They really do put out some cold air.Joseph

The green light for cooling stopped working the second day after AC arrival, so we returned it right the way. First day it was on for many hours in our living room house of 1300 sq feet 3 bedroom 2 bath. I did installed both houses through window and followed instruction to the letter. The living room itself is not that big for such smaller size of house, it brought the temperature from 89 down to 80 from in 7 hours, and it could not go lower no matter what …. I live in Orange CA, am not sure if the degree of humidity plays role, but the reviews I carefully read before purchase, spoke about the effectiveness which seems to be reported perhaps from different more humid areas. if you want more effective unit and don't mind the installation my suggestion is Ductless Mini Split INVERTER Air Conditioner (Pioneer or Fujitsu – very quiet, way more effective than any central AC and way more cheaper to use it). If you want quick solution go with window AC unit 8000 to 12000 BTU. I have one in garage Kenmore 12000 BTU) and it's amazing.bythebook777

The front of our house gets afternoon sun in Calabasas, CA where the summer heat tops 100°. The internal AC of our house just doesn't pump enough cool air into our toddler's room upstairs so we purchased this Whynter 12000 BTU portable AC unit. I chose to buy this unit because the reviews on Whynter seemed better than others regarding cooling, durability and noise level. The installation was easy and the product definitely cooled the room to a comfortable level quickly. One of my concerns was the noise level would be too loud and scare our boy but (while it is not exactly quiet) the AC is not as loud as I expected and creates a "white noise" effect that is slightly louder than the noise machine we use in his room anyway. Needless to say, we are all-around happy with the AC unit so far. It's nice that the unit also has wheels and can be rolled into other rooms as needed. In fact, I chose to buy another Whynter Unit (14000 BTU) for my office, which is also on the same side of the house. That unit has more power and is slightly quieter! It's also slightly more expensive, but I am very happy with both AC units from Whynter. 🙂Dennis

Great size for a bedroom, cools well and quickly, has a continuous fan setting and you can turn the lights off at night. The window kit is a thick plastic unlike some brands but the hose clicks in and there are tiny gaps. My main problem is that the compressor turning on and off, is a loud thump, woke me out of a deep sleep and easily wakes me out of light sleep. If I’m awake it startles me. I purchased a new travel trailer which came equipped with a GE roof mounted air conditioner. After using the travel trailer no more than 14 days over the period of one year the unit stopped working. We had pulled the travel trailer to the lake for the July 4th weekend and after setting up found out that the air conditioner would not cool the air. We went back home because it was very hot in Oklahoma. We lost the amount paid for the reservation of the site and drastically changed our holiday. The travel trailer was returned to the dealer who found out that the air conditioner would have to be replaced and they would have to order another one. It took approximately 6 weeks for the air conditioner to this shipped to the dealer and installed. We lost out on a good part of the summer travel season due to this problem.Sooner 67

Came with our Little Guy Mini Max RV. Cools off in a couple minutes. Great! Nice vent options. It IS quite loud in such a small space but we’re getting used to it (and I’m quite sensitive to sound). Having trouble getting consistent performance with GE Thermostat that came with it. Setting at 83…sometimes has kept running too long and reaching much cooler temp even set on auto.Ssv2021

We purchased a brand new Keystone Travel Trailer with 2 AC units. This unit is SO loud, makes it very hard to sleep let alone watch TV in the bedroom where this unit is located. It cools well so that is a plus but wow is this loud. My Wife seriously has to wear ear plugs to sleep because of the volume.Passport
