I got the XL because he is pretty sprawly in our bed (we have a king). It is perfect for him. This is a well made dog bed. Easy to put together, very comfortable for my dog, stays cleaner than other dog beds, easy to remove and wash. I have a labrador retriever and initially got the large size, but exchanged it for the jumbo. The large size was a good size, but upon watching him sleep, i found out he likes to stretch out. Yes the jumbo size is very large and requires a lot of space in your room, but it is worth it to see him stretch out or curled up in his very comfy bed. A little pricey but he is worth it. I tried other beds and they are of inferior quality and won't last long. I highly recommend it. For your reference my dog is about 73 Lbs and measured 40 inches when laying down and lightly curled. Two dogs could fit in the jumbo bed if they decide to curl and lay next to each other. But not for stretching in a hot summer evening.Love Labradors 2
My 13 year old Lab was going for spirited 2 mile walks 4 months ago but alas, age it seems has finally caught up with my dearest and closest friend. I have ordered MANY dog beds in my lifetime but this one is the WORST one of all!! Why? The top "zip in" filler for the "armrest" is impossible to completely insert. I have YET to completely zip it in without nearly losing my breath because of the tugging, pulling, stretching, while TRYING to move the zipper! I thought I was in pretty good shape but putting in this armrest filler role is horrible. I would suggest the manufacturer use LESS filler or something but I would NEVER recommend this dog bed. We were using a round dog bed without bolsters and when at a friends she wouldn't get out of their bed with bolsters so knew we needed this style. I bought this for my lab-ish dog who is getting up there in years and isn't as comfortable on the floor. She LOVES it! It is big enough that she can sleep in a ball or stretch all the way out. The memory foam in the bottom takes 24 hours to expand before it goes in the bed. it is so thick and high quality. My dog likes to lay her head on things when she sleeps, so the bolster around the edges is really handy. My smaller dogs like to share it. I am really pleased with the bed, so are the dogs!Kaitlyn
Very thick padding on bottom of bed. It is actually several inches thick. Even with me sitting in it, I can't feel the floor. I think this would be great for older dogs due to the thick padding on base. The padding comes separate from the bed and when you unroll it, it increases in size. To assemble it, you just zip it in the bottom. The bottom base is rectangular and covers the whole entire bed at the bottom so no part of your dog is ever touching the hard ground. The bed is surrounded by thick bolsters and pretty flexible that the sides will move out if you dog wants to curl up or if they touch against the sides. My dog likes to use the side cushions as a head rest. I got the medium size for my dog who is a ~33lbs Shiba Inu. He's pretty big for his breed but it fits him perfectly when he decides to roll up in it and also he likes sleeping in it with his head up. Overall, its a great dog bed for a dog that likes to be snugged up and I think would be very supportive if your dog had hip/joint issues. My dog loves this orthopedic bed! We've tried a lot of different beds, but he loves the extra big cushions on this one. My dog is small (about 8 pounds), but I opted for this Medium size for him to be able to stretch out when laying on his side. It feels really high-quality, but still lightweight enough to move around the house. My dog likes to lounge in it during the day, but also snuggles up in it at night! Great mat but it showed and I had to open it and fully allow it to rise before we noticed it was not the correct size. I had measured and it seems this one is not the correct size. Weird as I order all the time. The box did not have the size or identification on it for me to confirm prior to opening. We kept it as it is a lovely mat but it is one size too small for our pup's crate.
This seems to be a good dog bed. Be prepared…. it takes 3 to 4 days for it to “fluff up”. It comes rolled up and it was really flat considering the specifications said it was 4” high! Letting it set to fluff it took about 3 days for it to become 4” high. The cover is a bit loose but does not bother my girl, she really likes her new bed. I feel this bed was worth the money, she spends more time on her new bed than she did on her old one.Linda
We purchased 2 xl beds. They came wrapped in plastic and vacuum sealed. The directions said they should fully expand in 24 to 72 hours. We are on day 5, and one of the beds is almost fully expanded, but the 2nd bed is still very squished in the center and corners. We are following the directions and shaking them several times a day. Im beginning to think the 2nd bed may have to be returned/replaced. I will give it a couple more days, but it dosent look like it has made any progress in the last couple days.Brenda101

My dog seems to like the bed, I do love how thick the dog bed is. The only minor thing was the large size was a little smaller than our existing large dog bed. My dog Shamira is not able to stretch out her full body, but I would recommend if your dog is at least 60 lbs. and up, buy the XL bed especially since the bed is sitting higher. I was hesitant to order a bed online because you can't really tell the quality of it and I didn't want to pay a fortune for junk. Then a sale came along as well as an additional coupon and it was a deal that I couldn't really pass up. Fortunately, the risk paid off. This bed is fantastic. It really is as described. I could sleep on it, and it's huge. I noticed some people complaining about the noise when your dog moves, but honestly, I don't even notice it most of the time. I got the XLarge 54" x 36" for my Great Pyrenees and she loves it. I was worried it wouldn't be big enough for her, but it seems to work out just fine – even if she stretches out. She's 13, so she's a old girl with arthritis.Her old bed did not survive our move, so we got this one (which frankly, did not even come close to the quality of this one). We've had it a week and already she seems to be getting around better. She really hasn't left it since. She's on the lighter side for a pyr at only 80 lbs, but the bed does not collapse with her weight. I weigh twice that and it supports me if I lie on it as well. 🙂 If I had anything to complain about, it would be the shipping/packing. The box was almost collapsed/destroyed and virtually open when it arrived. Other than that, I'm very happy with the purchase.smileyriley

This is a well made dog bed. Easy to put together, very comfortable for my dog, stays cleaner than other dog beds, easy to remove and wash. I have a labrador retriever and initially got the large size, but exchanged it for the jumbo. The large size was a good size, but upon watching him sleep, i found out he likes to stretch out. Yes the jumbo size is very large and requires a lot of space in your room, but it is worth it to see him stretch out or curled up in his very comfy bed. A little pricey but he is worth it. I tried other beds and they are of inferior quality and won't last long. I highly recommend it. For your reference my dog is about 73 Lbs and measured 40 inches when laying down and lightly curled. Two dogs could fit in the jumbo bed if they decide to curl and lay next to each other. But not for stretching in a hot summer evening.Love Labradors 2
My 13 year old Lab was going for spirited 2 mile walks 4 months ago but alas, age it seems has finally caught up with my dearest and closest friend. His hips and knees have been noticeably troubling him, especially in the morning after a long sleep. He’s always had doggy beds but now more than ever I want him to be as comfortable as possible. This bed is FANTASTIC and my good boy loves it! He is 74 lbs but tall and lanky. The large measurements were too small for him, if you look in the picture the golden retriever in the large has zero room to stretch out. I am so glad I went with the XL. My sweet boy can lounge and stretch and get as comfy as his heart desires. I ordered the brown color but have a small blanket draped over it in the image. This is my second recent purchase of a dog bed by PetMaker, and I've ordered a third. The orthopedic foam is firm and dense enough to provide excellent support at a reasonable mid-range price. If your dog prefers to nestle into a fluffy bed, this is not the bed for that. If you're expecting memory foam that allows the dog's body to sink into the foam and conforms around the dog's body, this is not the bed for that. This is an orthopedic foam bed that will support the dog's weight and provide cushioning and comfort on a hard floor or crate. Dogs with mobility issues may have an easier time getting on and off this type of bed because they won't sink into it and struggle to get out. The foam does need a few days to fully decompress and reach three inches in height. The cover has an almost velvety finish, and the fabric is on the thinner side. So if your dog tends to maul the bed, you may want to look elsewhere for a tougher fabric (or train your dog not to maul the bed). Based on my initial impression, this dog bed seems to be of good quality and should last a good while.RottnPittieMom
The touted medical-caliber foam is exaggerative; I've used shipping foam that was sturdier. I have similar beds I purchased a decade ago at half the price from another major warehouse discount store that are four times better than these. The color was pleasing but that's about it. I looked at the specifications which said they're 5.50 H & took a chance, but the 3 H is accurate. Wow; does Nicki absolutely LOVE her new bed!! I've literally searched forever for an Ortho bed/pillow for my Rottie/Lab mix. She's a large, heavy – but beautiful girl – who was rescued during a animal cruelty seizure. The reason I mention this is that she'd been physically abused (while pregnant before turning 5 months!) and she has, as a result, bad hips & sore leg joints. In other words, it's painful for her to sleep on the hard floors inside & the deck outside. Our existing large pillow-type bed basically had a giant dent in "her spot" and provided virtually no padding. I bought this bed for my old arthritic dog because she needs better support in her old age. I would agree this bed provides the needed support but the foam barely fits inside the cover. After washing (which is required often because it's black), it is a two person job to get the foam back in. Because it barely fits, we have RIPPING AT THE SEAMS both on the top at the bolster cushion and bottom near the zipper. I have sent pictures to this company and they refuse to acknowledge that this damage is caused by POOR MANUFACTURING and not my dog. Every time my 4 year old Bullmastiff started feeling warm and fuzzy would start chewing on the corner of his bed. I tried several beds, from which pieces of stuffing still remain forever floating around the living room. I scoured the internet for his "Very Last Last Chance Bed". His derriere was going to be sleeping on the floor for all of eternity if he chewed this one up. Here I am in 2020 reviewing somethinv I bought in 2018. Why? Well because my dog literally still sleeps on this every day. He's about an 80 black mouth cur and he hasn't trained it yet. The only thing is that I washed the cover a lot and it's finally wearing a bit thin. It's held up exceptionally well though and I can't say how impressed I am. The memory foam is still holding up. It's not permanently indented which is q major shock with such a big dog. So, yeah buy it!!
