All 4 dogs I've given these balls to have absolutely loved them. I would consider 3 of the 4 dogs as "aggressive players," meaning many of their favorite toys end up at least somewhat shredded not long after they arrive, but these toys are somehow not like the others! The balls are soft but surprisingly durable. I will say, they destroy the bone-shaped toy MUCH faster than the ball-shaped toy, I think it's the angle they can bite the bone vs the angle of the large ball. It's an inexpensive toy and definitely a fan favorite. It's soft and it squeaks and it smells like bacon inside, so when we squeak the ball by their faces they go absolutely nuts because the air coming out of the toy smells like bacon. They love it so much, I highly recommend this product! Also, I ordered one for a friend's dog and their Walmart had the product in their nearby store and delivered the toy just 9 hours after I ordered it. That's the fastest delivery I've ever heard of!! (And the dog really appreciated their speedy delivery, he's been zooming around the living room with it since it arrived.) I can't say it enough, highly recommended.Sarah
I’ve never personally purchased these but my neighbors do for their dogs. Not once but twice in 1 year and 4 days, my dog (140lb Rottweiler) has gotten ahold to the large size balls chewed it and swallowed it (whole) causing her to have to have surgery to remove it from her intestines. So save yourself from a $2500 surgery and almost killing your dog by avoiding purchasing this ball. I received the Hartz Dura Ball Medium as a gift, but my dog passed away before she could play with it. I gave it to my besties dog Kozmo Kornelious King of the Woods of Rainier. It was fun while it lasted. The first one my 1.5 yr old mini-schnauzer tore within the first week. From my angle, he was rubbing his nose into the gaps to get the treats from the red ball. But I learned quickly that he was chewing on the teal part, and the toy tore at that point. However, I did buy another one and now our family makes sure to watch him while he plays and stops him from chewing it. It is a fun toy and stimulating. Worth trying out in my opinion.
I use this to hide dentabones for my dog. She loves it. She can pretty much get the bone out within a few seconds, but she likes trying to remove the red ball from the inside of this toy too. She did rip it, but she’s a pitbull so i expected to at. The key is to let chewers play with it for a little bit while you watch for them to try to remove the ball inside, then give them a tough bone that they can chew on and take this one away if you’re not watching. I’ve found very few toys that my girl doesn’t destroy and eat, but this is something different that she gets really excited about on sight, so I’d recommend this to any dog as long as you watch them with it.Steph
My one year old goldendoodle is a power chewer and shredder of all things plush. However, she has not torn or shredded this rubber toy. Smaller treats fall too easily out of the center, so I squished a chicken jerky treat that was too large for it inside the red part. The pressure of it being too large holds it in and creates the challenge. She has been entertained for hours so far and it is providing her with the mental enrichment of trying to figure out how to get the treat. He loves it. It's his outdoor toy. He would go all day if we let him. We've had it for about 3 years now and it's pretty sun faded and has plenty of teeth marks in it. Also started developing a crack on the one hole, but otherwise its been incredibly durable. My partner can kick it hard across the yard in steel toes and it hasn't broken yet (that's probably what the crack is from). It has caused his gums to bleed a handful of times so maybe beware of that just because of the hard plastic if your pup is a tough chewer/biter, but otherwise my dog would literally kill for this toy. I read these other reviews where the dogs go wild for the toy! I have three dogs at home, and none were interested in this toy. They were excited until I threw the ball on the ground. They all took turns pawing at it, and within 45 seconds the dogs were playing with the old toys. The toy itself is built well. I have a 130 lb. Cane Corso that loves to play fetch. My mom bought his first one when he was just a pup and he fell in love with it. Played with it till it literally fell apart. Stuffing and all. Our 45 pound boxer puppy swallowed this like it was a donut hole. The way that these balls can completely flatten down and re-inflate allows dogs to very easily swallow them, but makes it impossible for them to come back up. These are great for our Golden Retrievers. They love the texture. One of ours likes to chew toys to pieces so we do watch him when he has the two balls with all the holes. This ball toy has become a favorite for Lilly. It smells yummy to me and I think it's one of the reasons she liked it right away. It's perfect for her to play with because it's small and soft and I really love that it's a soft material because she's a little old so I worry about things being too hard but she doesn't have any problems picking this up. It's still whole and it's been over a week so I think it's durable and worth getting. You can still smell the bacon smell on it too. Everytime she sees it she perks up and gets excited. I hear it squeaking it all the time. I'm really happy she likes it. I tried getting pictures of her with it but she couldn't sit still so they're blurry but that's a good thing.acarrill93
My dogs love these balls. I love to watch the younger dog play with this ball. She plays with it all the time. She stands on her back legs and pounces on the ball with her front paws to make it squeak, she hits it and chases after it. She will flip it with her nose to roll it to me so I will roll it back to her. She even takes it to her crate at night when it is time for bed. And of course, she chews on it. A lot. That is where the problem comes in. I have bought quite a few of these balls because she is rough with them. They usually lasted about 2 weeks to a month. Then I bought the ones with the bacon scent. Those did not last through the day. By the end of the day, there were little rubber bits everywhere along with the stuffing from the ball. When I gave her one of the older balls without the bacon scent that we had put away, again it lasted for a couple of weeks. I can't afford to replace these balls every day. So until I can again find the Dura Play ball without the bacon scent, I guess my dog will have to play with something else.ShdwKnght
