I used to feed grain free and such but after attending a canine health seminar at my breed nationals, it was talked about that dogs need a more balanced diet and that it does include grains. I had also been avoiding chicken as I had a dog who was allergic but was convinced to try this. They source quality ingredients and they are processed in a way that keeps them quality. Since then, a lot has also come out about grain free high protein causing heart problems in dogs! I switched to Royal Canin in October and my pugs have never looked better! Pugs are not a very active breed and yet the grain free diets kept them too lean for my taste. I also had issues with urinary tract infections and yeast. This food provides a good balance of carbs/protein and I see it reflected in my dogs. Healthy weight, good quality of coat and lots of energy. I feed the large breed blend to my Rottweiler too and get nothing but compliments on her coat. As far as cost, I can get this locally now at Petco as cheap or cheaper than with the online big store! I feed this to my picky Yorkie who eats it well and her coat is the shiniest I've ever seen it after a couple months on this food. We were recently traveling and my large dog went on a hunger strike and refused to eat. I offered her this food to stimulate her appetite and she ate it right up! I usually buy the Yorkie breed specific food, but my retailer was out of it. I saw this on the shelf and decided I would try it instead of ordering online or running to different stores. Both dogs love this as much as they do the breed specific! There were no digestion issues with changing the food and the littlest of the 2 (5 pounds) I think enjoys it more since the pieces are even smaller. There is no dog who is a picker eater than my Pixie. She is the most amazing looking Pappillion, (her grandfather, Kirby, won best in Show at Westminster in 1999) weighs 6 1/2 pounds, and spits food out if she dosn't like it. My Yorkie mostly eat fresh chicken, deli turkey etc. But he always have extra small royal canin available for him. He will eat but only when starving. He is very picky and always worrisome about choking as he did choke once. So all his other food is cut up very very tiny. He will only eat if he can see me near by. I purchased this dog food because my breeder recommended it, but after reading the ingredients label, I returned it. The first ingredient is rice which is a dog filler and considered bad. The second ingredient is chicken by-product meal which is a nice name for slaughterhouse waste which is all the organs that a human won't eat because they are disgusting. I love my dog and could not even think of feeding them this food. This dog food is horrible and expensive! The breeder we purchased our Shih Tzu puppy from uses only Royal Canin products for their dogs and puppies. We were sent home with a Royal Canin Puppy Kit which contained a small bag of Mini Puppy food, a can of Puppy in Gel Appetite Stimulation starter food, and a food guide. Since our puppy was familiar with the Royal Canin Mini Puppy food, we did not want to change. When our puppy arrived to our home he was a bit stressed from leaving his litter mates and his mom. The long drive home to his new home added to the stress, as well, and his appetite decreased. For the first few days, we added the Royal Canin Puppy in Gel Appetite Stimulator food to the Mini Puppy food to maintain his eating routine. Within the few days, he was back on track with his eating schedule once again and back to simply eating the Mini Puppy food. He recently received his rabies shot and wasn't feeling up to par. He had an upset tummy and wasn't eating well. Our vet suggested to give him something he "could not resist" to stimulate his appetite. Therefore, we made the choice to try the Puppy Healthy Development dog food and add it to his Mini Puppy food. He immediately took to it, and his appetite returned. He really enjoyed the extra treat in his food! We were happy that we had a variety of choices to turn to within the Royal Canin line of puppy food to stimulate his eating just in case we were unsuccessful with the Healthy Development food. My Yorkie is beyond picky. She will refuse dry food and go on hunger strikes until I give her something else. She was on a raw diet for a while and loved it but started having major digestive issues. Vet recommended this food after all the tests came back clear. I thought she would hate it but she loves it. Loves it to the point where I tried multiple other brands after her digestive issues cleared up and she refused them. She will even eat this plain. In every bag I've bought, the kibble has been shiny and smells fresh, not dry and stale, so I think that's why she loves it. My Lhasa Apso, Holly, has been eating this food since she was a puppy. She is 14-1/2 years old now. This is the only food she can eat without getting sick. My little Roxy was first prescribed ROYAL CANIN HYDROLYZED PROTEIN DOG FOOD after becoming seriously ill. This by-prescription-only dog food was prescribed as part of her treatment plan by a veterinarian at a leading University of Veterinary Medicine Hospital. A picky eater by nature, Roxy had lost about 25% of her body weight due to her illness and was completely disinterested in food. When her doctor said she needed to go on a strict "veterinary diet", my first thought was, "I bet it tastes like hospital food does to humans." Worried that she would hate it and refuse to eat it, I was thankful, grateful, and genuinely surprised that she LOVED it!! That was six months ago, and she has emptied every bowl of ROYAL CANIN HYDROLYZED PROTEIN dry dog food since then. I found this food several years ago. My King Charles Cavalier was having GI upset with every food we tried – even the limited ingredient diets! To make matters worse, she tends to be a little on the picky side as, and often did not eat regularly! When I introduced this food the frequent vomiting/regurgitation ended and she starting eating regularly twice daily! I have a 6 year old puggle that struggles with weight. She had originally been on a Purina diet that was recommended by our vet. She later started developing crystals in her urine in repeat UA and needed to be switched to a different food that helped control this. The vet recommended trying SO, while it worked for her, she was not full from the portion she could have. So we switched to SO mod cal and had the same results. My dog was diagnosed by the vet as being obese. He gave me a prescription for Royal Canine Satiety Support. It really has helped my fur baby to lose some weight. It does take time to see a result but have patience. I did try a couple of other brands but this is the only dog food that has worked for her. My poor dog had suffered some sort of skin condition for years and nothing seemed to help. She had numerous patches of dry, scaly skin which would scab over and her hair would come out in clumps. I felt really sorry for her as she seemed to be under the weather and not her usual perky self. I had been prescribed Malaseb shampoo but this only seemed to make her skin worse and there was so much hair left in the bath I though she was going to go bald. After numerous tests and medication, one of the veterinary nurses suggested I slowly introduced her to Royal Canin Skin Care and started using Douxo shampoo so we were combating her skin condition from two different angles. I'm glad to say that her skin has improved immensely and her coat has a lovely sheen. She still itches every so often but this is probably an allergy of some sort but her skin and coat are in great condition.

Your product is possibly good. But, your label is a nightmare. I did NOT see (who could?) the mouseprint type in the same color and font that says to refrigerate after opening. As a result, I gave my ct three days of doses and on the third day she was convulsive, vomiting, and acting like her stomach was on fire. I flushed her with water inside and out and got to the vet. The vet said she thought it was a reaction to the liquid supplement. I know it was. My cat was in need of respiratory relief but never had the violent reaction until day three of your product, which I believe turned rancid after sitting on the counter, inside the house, out of the sun. This product did absolutely nothing to help our cat get over her breathing issues. I started out with the Eyes and Upper Respiratory homeopathic drops, which helped a LOT for a couple of weeks. Then the breathing issues returned with even worse symptoms than to begin with. So I thought maybe the herbal Respiratory Support would do the trick. It didn't though. I guess she may have an infection and I need to get tougher treatment. I think your products are good, but they just aren't strong enough for whatever problem this cat has. Clue was a rescue dog so had very limited history on her, and we were having a really hard time finding something she would eat. She had a lot of stomach issues when we got her, and we were at wits end. We were at petco one day with her looking over the dog foods and trying to figure out what to try and the Royal Canin rep came over to talk with us. She took one look at clue and excitedly exclaimed, "is that a Yorkie?" We said yes, we just got her and Couldn't find anything that she would eat. The rep told us to wait right there, and she hurried off to the back. She came out with a couple of sample bags of the Yorkie dry food, and said try this. We had no idea that such a thing exists (breed specific food), but that rep saved our lives. We came home and gave clue some of the food and she absolutely loved it. So now we mix 1/2 can of the canned loaf and 1/4 cup of the dry together for her meals. In just a few weeks we discovered that her stomach issues were gone, and she is a bouncy happy dog again. We started to feed Lukkas with Pedigree (puppy) when he was 3 months old and suddenly we noticed that he is not happy when eating it then we decided to ask a Vet for suggestion and he advised us to have a Holistic Lamb puppy food instead. I happened onto Maltese food 2 weeks ago (each time I shop at a pet store I always check if it’s been formulated for a Maltese yet). To my surprise I found a small bag at Petsmart. Usually I shop at Petco because my baby girl is styled at Petco in Edwardsville, IL. But, they do not carry Maltese food. So I’ll have to shop between stores. I am overjoyed that I was able to get this amazing dog food specifically geared towards my dogs breed. My dog Callie went nuts when I gave her this food. She ate it all up and wanted more! I love that these pieces are small for my little girl and that this food is not only something that she likes, but good that is good for her too! I feel great knowing that my dog loves this food and that I don't have to worry that she's eating food that is too fattening for her or not as good for her. I love this brand and would definitely recommend it!JHicks133

I think it's great that Royal Canin is creating formulas of dog food for specific dog breeds, I feel better about giving my dog something that was essentially made for her. It feels like it would be the best food for her overall. I may not know much about dog nutrition, but I know that my dog loved this food. She couldn't have eaten it any faster, and she never seemed to tire of it. The "tailor made" shape is nice and seems like a good size. I have no complaints about this dog food. I'd recommend it!n7nickys7n
