My Yorkie is beyond picky. She will refuse dry food and go on hunger strikes until I give her something else. She was on a raw diet for a while and loved it but started having major digestive issues. I usually buy the Yorkie breed specific food, but my retailer was out of it. I saw this on the shelf and decided I would try it instead of ordering online or running to different stores. Both dogs love this as much as they do the breed specific! There were no digestion issues with changing the food and the littlest of the 2 (5 pounds) I think enjoys it more since the pieces are even smaller. Since switching to Royal Canin their picky eating stopped and they went from under weight from when I got them to normal weight. They are sturdy dogs with a lot of energy and gorgeous coat's. There is no dog who is a picker eater than my Pixie. She is the most amazing looking Pappillion, (her grandfather, Kirby, won best in Show at Westminster in 1999) weighs 6 1/2 pounds, and spits food out if she dosn't like it. Have you ever seen a dog spit out steak. People do not believe me until they see it. Steak, chicken, eggs, cheese, anything all dogs love is subject to Pixies taste at the moment. My Yorkie mostly eat fresh chicken, deli turkey etc. But he always have extra small royal canin available for him. He will eat but only when starving. He is very picky and always worrisome about choking as he did choke once. So all his other food is cut up very very tiny. He will only eat if he can see me near by. But he doesn't seem to mind this food when he is hungry. It is always available for him to eat.

I initially purchased Royal Canin Sensitive Digestion for my English setter two years ago. He had exposure to giardia just prior to him shipping to me as a puppy. The breeder made a feed recommendation, he went to the vet (of course!) and he still had loose stools after a round of medication and specialty feeds. I went to the local Petsmart to pick up Royal Canin Dachshund for another pet and noticed the Royal Canin Sensitive Digestion. I purchased it and in one feeding – literally one feeding – no more loose stools for the English setter. Not one ever again. Nothing was working until Royal Canin Sensitive Digestion. In an I-should-have-known-better attempt to save on the food bill, I switched to a popular dog food with a strong dog show enthusiasts following. The setter developed allergies and started developing ear infections on the lower-priced other brand. After expensive vet bills, I switched back to Royal Canin Sensitive Digestion. My West Highland White Terrier has serious digestive problems. He has been on Royal Canin Sensitive now for about 12 years. It's terrific. I used to feed grain free and such but after attending a canine health seminar at my breed nationals, it was talked about that dogs need a more balanced diet and that it does include grains. I had also been avoiding chicken as I had a dog who was allergic but was convinced to try this. They source quality ingredients and they are processed in a way that keeps them quality. Since then, a lot has also come out about grain free high protein causing heart problems in dogs! I switched to Royal Canin in October and my pugs have never looked better! Pugs are not a very active breed and yet the grain free diets kept them too lean for my taste. I also had issues with urinary tract infections and yeast. This food provides a good balance of carbs/protein and I see it reflected in my dogs. Healthy weight, good quality of coat and lots of energy. I feed the large breed blend to my Rottweiler too and get nothing but compliments on her coat. As far as cost, I can get this locally now at Petco as cheap or cheaper than with the online big store! I feed this to my picky Yorkie who eats it well and her coat is the shiniest I've ever seen it after a couple months on this food. We were recently traveling and my large dog went on a hunger strike and refused to eat. I offered her this food to stimulate her appetite and she ate it right up! The breeder we purchased our Shih Tzu puppy from uses only Royal Canin products for their dogs and puppies. We were sent home with a Royal Canin Puppy Kit which contained a small bag of Mini Puppy food, a can of Puppy in Gel Appetite Stimulation starter food, and a food guide. Since our puppy was familiar with the Royal Canin Mini Puppy food, we did not want to change. When our puppy arrived to our home he was a bit stressed from leaving his litter mates and his mom. The long drive home to his new home added to the stress, as well, and his appetite decreased. For the first few days, we added the Royal Canin Puppy in Gel Appetite Stimulator food to the Mini Puppy food to maintain his eating routine. Within the few days, he was back on track with his eating schedule once again and back to simply eating the Mini Puppy food. He recently received his rabies shot and wasn't feeling up to par. He had an upset tummy and wasn't eating well. Our vet suggested to give him something he "could not resist" to stimulate his appetite. Therefore, we made the choice to try the Puppy Healthy Development dog food and add it to his Mini Puppy food. He immediately took to it, and his appetite returned. He really enjoyed the extra treat in his food! We were happy that we had a variety of choices to turn to within the Royal Canin line of puppy food to stimulate his eating just in case we were unsuccessful with the Healthy Development food. My German Shepherd pup had TONS of gastrointestinal issues. We took her to two different vets and finally they put her on this food. It has been a miracle food! Her stomach issues eventually subsided and she was back to normal. And, she loves this food. My dog has intestinal issues and has the grumbliest tummy! When I specifically feed her this food her tummy does not grumble and she eats her entire bowl! Hi, I was asked by my Vet to keep my dog in this food! My dog named LEGO is my adopted dog! LEGO was giving up to my vets to be put to sleep as he had broke his femur in 2 places and the family did not want him or take care of him any more! But the vets just couldn’t put him to sleep and amputated his back leg to help him! I was just by chance coming into the vets to pickup my LadyBells ashes as she became a angel! When I walked in they had to show me Lego thinking it would help my heart, 3 days later LEGO came home to his new home with me playing running and eating Royal Canin High energy food! Now 5 months later he is a normal loving dog! And Vets told me he can actually start to be given a regular royal canin dog food! My little Roxy was first prescribed ROYAL CANIN HYDROLYZED PROTEIN DOG FOOD after becoming seriously ill. This by-prescription-only dog food was prescribed as part of her treatment plan by a veterinarian at a leading University of Veterinary Medicine Hospital. A picky eater by nature, Roxy had lost about 25% of her body weight due to her illness and was completely disinterested in food. When her doctor said she needed to go on a strict "veterinary diet", my first thought was, "I bet it tastes like hospital food does to humans." Worried that she would hate it and refuse to eat it, I was thankful, grateful, and genuinely surprised that she LOVED it!! That was six months ago, and she has emptied every bowl of ROYAL CANIN HYDROLYZED PROTEIN dry dog food since then. I found this food several years ago. My King Charles Cavalier was having GI upset with every food we tried – even the limited ingredient diets! To make matters worse, she tends to be a little on the picky side as, and often did not eat regularly! When I introduced this food the frequent vomiting/regurgitation ended and she starting eating regularly twice daily! She also developed frequent UTIs, so when Royal Canin added the S/O index (helps with urinary issues) to the small breed variety, we switched to that and haven't looked back! Like many companies of people/animal foods, RCVD supply chains for many products have been disrupted since COVID interrupted manufacturing, shipping, & deliveries well over a year ago – and it's still a challenge. MANY prescription diets are in short supply & only available some of the time, & this is across the board for ALL companies that product such foods. Vets DID get notice that this was, is, & will continue to be an issue. Still, this food is an excellent choice for many pets with GI issues. My GSD has been on this feed for approx 1 month, and he has had PLE + IBD since Dec 2019. October 2020, he was put on A drug called Mycophenolate; and when the dose was increased Nov 20,2020 this drug did not agree with him. He stopped eating some meals, lost some weight, vomiting & diarrhea. I took him to the vet, and they took him off of this drug. He started eating again, and I made the switch too Royal Canin GI Low Fat! Today, at his protein bloodwork appt; his numbers were great, and he is at an ideal weight finally ! We have 3 dogs, all S/F: GSD (2yo), Siberian Husky (4-5yo), and Pit Bull foundling (4-5yo). We were doing the grain free fad thing until I read the horror of DM-DCM, and immediately set about going to a trusted brand that met both AAFCO feeding trials and WSAVA recommendations. Royal Canin is what we keep in our clinic, and I did some of the videos on nutrition and was immediately swayed to try it out. All 3 girls have had MUCH better digestion since! My pit used to have terrible gas, would empty the room, and borborygmus… not anymore. Our husky used to ignore food and beg for human scraps but this is palatable enough that she does in fact eat it with little convincing. She's actually happy to see me go for the food bin! Since the local stores have reduced the amount of Royal Canin they sell I decided to try another big companies new digestive food. Well….I tried a long 2 month switch and it didn’t work. Back to Royal Canin! I’ll just have to be sure to keep an extra bag in case I can’t get it on line. I prefer to get it in the stores. Petco carries it, but usually gets 1-2 bags at a time. I recently rescued an adult dog who wasn't excited about meal times and was leaving kibble in the dish for hours, and sometimes only eating half or less of what she should be, even though we fed a quality kibble of another brand that my previous dogs had all loved. I read really great things about Royal Canin, and how many vets feed their own animals this brand. There's a bewildering number of different kinds of RC dog food, so I'd suggest going to their website and using their food selector quiz to help narrow it down. So Day 1, I tried mixing in a little bit of the RC with the old kibble, to slowly transition, as is usually suggested. To my surprise, my pup went through the dish and picked out all the RC kibbles to eat and left the rest! Well, I think that makes it clear what her preference is – and since we fully switched her food over, she's been excited at meal times and cleans her bowl on the spot. We're also already seeing a reduction in her dry skin/dandruff issues, and I'm hopeful that with a bit more time on this new diet, we'll be able to clear it up completely. It's expensive, but I appreciate that she's not wasting food and I know she's getting the nutrients she needs. I think we have a happy customer and will keep her on Royal Canin for life! Did quite a bit of research when we got our puppy. There are really only a handful of dog food manufacturers who actually have their own PhD dietician on staff, own their own factories, and produce thier product without contractors. Royal Canin is one of the very few. Not that other food is bad, but many other manufacturers who don't check these boxes are essentially winging it, with less control of the manufacturing process. Much of the dog food business is unfortunately marketing, but my research has enabled me to trust Royal Canin has our dog's best interest in mind. We transitioned from the puppy food to this adult food when she turned one and she did great on both. She is about 1.5 now and I don't see us every switching to a different food.DorasDad

My dog loves and eats this with no problem. He is a picky poodle who doesn’t like to eat dog food even when he is starving so imagine my delight when he ate this with no problem. I’ve tried many brands like Merricks, Blue Buffalo, Taste of the Wild, and others. I definitely recommend this brand, it’s very nutritious with good ingredients.vivian.h

My puppy was delivered about 9 weeks old. Started feeding food I had for puppies. Didn't eat then and on to food breeder had fed first and didn't eat. Went to pet store and they suggested Royal Cannine. I though a little expensive but came home with it. CoCo dived in and began eating. I have since then fed to my 2 1/2 year old Shih Tzu. They love it and are doing great with their new food. I will continue to purchase R C. One great food for Shih Tzu's is the size and shape of the food for the puppy with a small mouth. We started to feed Lukkas with Pedigree (puppy) when he was 3 months old and suddenly we noticed that he is not happy when eating it then we decided to ask a Vet for suggestion and he advised us to have a Holistic Lamb puppy food instead. However, still Lukkas doesn't seem to be happy everytime we serve his food. I've went online and go through some sites to know what's the best food for him because everytime he looks sad, it usually breaks our heart to see him like that. I have read some reviews about Royal Canin and it makes me decide to have it just for a try to see if there will be a change. I bought a 1.5kg Royal Canin for shih Tzu puppy in a mall and when I got home, I tried to feed him a little bit to see his reaction about his new food and we were surprised to see how happy he is. That's the time we decided to buy Royal Canin for Lukkas even though we have to spend more this time. Until now, it never fails me to see how happy he is and weight, fur changed as well. I'll suggest everyone who loves their pet and wants to make sure that they go for a quality food – Royal Canin is the best and is a MUST!Hopie_1991

I switched to this food at the advice of my veterinarian. He always has a happy, healthy, demeanor. His poops are firm and easily picked up. He eats the food no problem. His coat is beautiful, glossy, and flowing, just like a Shih Tzu should be able to have if they are kept long. His skin and eyes are healthy and glowing! I highly recommend this product.Emilythequeen
