We have 3 dogs, all S/F: GSD (2yo), Siberian Husky (4-5yo), and Pit Bull foundling (4-5yo). We were doing the grain free fad thing until I read the horror of DM-DCM, and immediately set about going to a trusted brand that met both AAFCO feeding trials and WSAVA recommendations. Royal Canin is what we keep in our clinic, and I did some of the videos on nutrition and was immediately swayed to try it out. All 3 girls have had MUCH better digestion since! My pit used to have terrible gas, would empty the room, and borborygmus… not anymore. Our husky used to ignore food and beg for human scraps but this is palatable enough that she does in fact eat it with little convincing. She's actually happy to see me go for the food bin! Since the local stores have reduced the amount of Royal Canin they sell I decided to try another big companies new digestive food. Well….I tried a long 2 month switch and it didn’t work. Back to Royal Canin! I’ll just have to be sure to keep an extra bag in case I can’t get it on line. I prefer to get it in the stores. Petco carries it, but usually gets 1-2 bags at a time. I was feeding a "bouquet" brand of dog food until I heard all the new about dilated cardiomyopathy and spoke with my vet about this very serious concern. My Yorkie is beyond picky. She will refuse dry food and go on hunger strikes until I give her something else. She was on a raw diet for a while and loved it but started having major digestive issues. I initially purchased Royal Canin Sensitive Digestion for my English setter two years ago. He had exposure to giardia just prior to him shipping to me as a puppy. The breeder made a feed recommendation, he went to the vet (of course!) and he still had loose stools after a round of medication and specialty feeds. I went to the local Petsmart to pick up Royal Canin Dachshund for another pet and noticed the Royal Canin Sensitive Digestion. I purchased it and in one feeding – literally one feeding – no more loose stools for the English setter. Not one ever again. Nothing was working until Royal Canin Sensitive Digestion. In an I-should-have-known-better attempt to save on the food bill, I switched to a popular dog food with a strong dog show enthusiasts following. The setter developed allergies and started developing ear infections on the lower-priced other brand. After expensive vet bills, I switched back to Royal Canin Sensitive Digestion. My Boxer mix pup is allergic to flaxseed. Excluding Royal Canin, good luck finding a Flax free dog food priced within reason. I started with regular Medium version in the red bag and it was a winner. Stella is a 6 yr old Chi Terrier Mix. I took her to the NORTHWEST ANIMAL CARE HOSPITAL because she hadn't ate for 1 1/2 days, then threw up blood late in the evening and next day her poo had blood in it and allot of drops on the floor. After ex rays and blood tests Vet said she had a high level of bad bacteria in her gut. Started I/D Chicken on Feb 28 afternoon and evening. I got 3 cans and the first can was very dried out and crumbly. I called them and they said that is the way it is suppose to be? Really. I opened second can when 1st one was empty it was not dried out at all, so I don't think it is suppose to be so dried out like that exp date is 01/2021. I added Hot Water to it for a few days then I had my Son go to PetSmart and get the Only Natural Pet nutrition boost Chicken Bone Broth and been mixing it into the food since. She is on this 4 times a day every 4 hours for 10 days and can't have any dry food or treats until blood test is done again to make sure the bad bacteria is gone. Will be opening the 3rd can in the morning, so I will be getting more cans. She seems to be doing allot better, more energy, seems happier and playing.

My 12 year old Shih Tzu has been on this food for many years. I switch off between the canned Prescription ID Turkey and the Prescription ID Chicken and Vegetable Stew. He likes both foods, for the most part. My biggest issue is the size of the turkey can (13 oz). It would be so much more convenient having it also available in a smaller can (5.5 oz), like the Chicken and Vegetable Stew, which is the perfect portion. When traveling with him, I have to make sure there is a refrigerator in the room, which at some places, requires an upgrade. Also, when leaving, I many times, have to throw the unfinished meals away, being both a waste of food and a waste of money. Also, it requires me to pack more cans, in my luggage. Even when I don't travel with my dog, it's a bit of a bother to have to refrigerate the unused portion which also, affects the taste of the food when it's cold. Please, consider the smaller can size, for this food and the low fat version. These little guys, who have issues with digestion, don't eat that much at a time. Thank you.

My 4 year old German shepherd has always had GI issues no matter what she ate. Her mom was the same way, but pedigree was the only thing that helped her. I tried pedigree and it was working great for a while. Soon after my dog started to throw up acid and have either loose stools to diarrhea. The vet would diagnose her with anxiety and put her on a diet consisting of cooked chicken, plain rice, cottage cheese and pumpkin. That did work but eventually I had to get her back onto regular dog food in order to get her all the nutrients she required. Again the food would work and then stop. I tried the canned royal canine food but that also have her GI issues. I searched online and found this food from royal canine and the reviews were what made me buy it. Most of the reviews addressed the same issues I was having and stated their dog’s GI issue minimized to being completely nonexistent. It was pretty expensive and didn’t come in a smaller bag but at that point I was desperate. Trying new foods would work for a week max and then I would have to find something else. My dog has been on this food for about 3-4 weeks now and so far I have not had an issue! She absolutely loves this food and cannot get enough. If you want dog food that not only helps with GI issues (digestive), but something your dog will actually eat and keep their weight maintained I would highly recommend. This is the perfect food for my 2 year old bloodhound. Although he weighs a little over 100 pounds, he can easily eat this kibble. Tried the Royal Canin Giant Breed, but the kibble size is too big and I have to crush the pieces with a hammer. About 3 years ago I got a 9 month old Boston Terrier puppy from my vet. He gave me the Science Diet food they had been feeding her since she came under his care. Everything was fine until she was about a year old. All of a sudden she was vomiting constantly and had severe diahrrhea. It was so bad she lost 3 pounds and just couldn't even keep white rice down. I was planning on training her as a service dog but I was afraid she was not going to live. I rushed her to the vets and he did blood work, xrays, and other tests. He didn't find any blockages but he did say he'd never seen a dog with so much intestinal inflammation before. He suggested I try the Science Diet I/d because that's what he fed his Boston Terrier. I started her slowly and within a week her stools were improving and the vomiting had stopped. Within 2 weeks everything was fine and she started putting on weight. I know that Science Diet isn't the most popular dog food on the market these days. Everyone is into raw, no thank you and all natural and so on. But I'm convinced that Science Diet saved her life and I don't care how much it costs, she will always be on it. When you have a service dog, they need to be in tip-top shape at all times. I will spend whatever I need to, to make sure she is healthy and happy because she's my constant companion and I rely on her 24/7.

One of our dogs was throwing up yelllow/clear phlegm frequently in the morning, not wanting to eat for a bit, and then would be fine until the next morning or every few mornings. We tried switching foods when our vet mentioned she may need to get tested for GI issues if it continued. Once blood was mixed with phlegm we went to our vet immediately to get medications to help while they sent off her stuff for testing to a GI panel in Texas to confirm what our vet thought. She recommended switching to this prescription dog food, noting sometimes it’s just needed for a few years, but usually dogs stay on for life. I had serious doubts it would help (and of course is a higher price than most foods) but it WORKS!! Our dog quickly grew to love the food within a few days having her appetite back. Our dog has been on a special Biome diet dog food for years to help keep his weight in check. He was getting bored with it so we added this Purina One into his diet about 50%. After 2 months we noticed he was throwing up every morning. We talked to our vet and he said that this food has additives that make dogs ill and can cause pancreatitis. His enzymes were high and he was sleeping a lot. We stopped feeding him this food and he was better within a week! I read more about this food and found some articles saying that the acceptable amount of chemicals allowed in this dog food are human limits and there are no set parameters for dogs. So essentially they could be being poisoned because they are much smaller than humans. Our dog has loved this dog food primarily because of the Turkey pieces. He will scoot the food all around and eat the Turkey pieces 1st. After using for years, the quality over the past several months has gone down hill. Tons of dust in the bags and in some bags you can barely see any turkey pieces. What has happened? According to online dog food reviews this is the best "budget" grocery store dogfood for my little dog(it's not really cheap IMO but cheaper than many of those "designer" brands) and just as good. My own experience agrees with this assessment. My dog is sometimes ambivalent about eating it but then he's a picky little brat LOL! The ultimate test of any dogfood is how healthy your dog is after eating it for a period of time. My 11lb Rat Terrier-Chihuaua mix has a super-shiny coat and bundles of energy. My GSD has been on this feed for approx 1 month, and he has had PLE + IBD since Dec 2019. October 2020, he was put on A drug called Mycophenolate; and when the dose was increased Nov 20,2020 this drug did not agree with him. I have feed my 3 cats the royal canin brand for a year now, previously the oral care and hairball biscuits. Both very good, and my cat who had plaque buildup now has great dental health, with the hairball one being great during shedding seasons. I thought I would try the digestive one now as they have transitioned to indoor only cats. The thin circular shape to the biscuits I've noticed not only slows them down when eating, but creates a lot of crunching so I know they are good for their teeth still too, and assume it will also keep assisting with passing/digestion of hair balls etc. Therefore, so far so good. I wanted to write a review because most are from a free sample which, IMO, doesn't give a whole picture. A couple years ago my dog was having a lot of digestive issues, so my vet recommended we switch to one of the brands vets always recommend. I didn't like the brand or the ingredients. I feel like there is a lot of bias in the pet food industry to those brands. i can't even provide a good explanation why I dislike them so much but I do and didn't want to feed my dog it. After looking at other digestive lines, this seemed the most comparable to what was recommended, and I felt much about the ingredients. She did great on it. My dog enjoyed the taste. Her poops we're consistent and normal. I didn't have issues with a mess or too many crumbs. My only compliant is the bag doesn't close up tight so I stored it cereal storage container- it fits perfectly in the oxo or rubbermaid ones. I had no idea this line came in a senior blend. I would have loved to feed her that I don't remember that being available when we first switched to this. My dog is about 12 and been having health issues this last year and the digestive issues have been getting worse. I don't believe it's the food as she ate it without issues for a long time. Unfortunately, my vet recommended a prescription food this week. I'm sad I'm not able to feed her this anymore. I think this is a good food to try if your dog is experiencing minor digestive issues. I never wrote reviews but I am so happy about this product. My 1 year old car has had soft serve/stinky poo every single day for at least 6 months. We would often had to wipe his bottom after too. I tried so many different kinds of food, probiotics, antibiotics with no change at all. I finally decided to try this food and after about 1-2 weeks he finally had normal poop! It was firm, less stinky, no mess afterwards! I can't tell you how much this has changed my life! Seriously try it…only complaint is the price. This food is terrible! My cat refuses to eat it. I guess I should have researched the shape of it, it’s a flat circle with a hole in the middle. I’m sure there is some reason for this, I know this is a sensitive stomach food. However, it is extremely difficult for her to pick up in her mouth to eat it. If she is successful with getting it it her mouth, they are so hard she can’t chew them so she either spits them out or swallows them whole. How do I know this? She throws them up and they are still in one piece. I have wasted $30!! What a disappointment, my kitten goes great on your kitten dry and wet food. Wish I had either a refund or a credit, will be weaning my kitten off this brand also.

I’ve been dealing with one of my boys IBD for quite a while. Vet detected no issues, put him on Purina Gastroenteric which gave him explosive diarrhea. After that I started trying different foods for sensitive stomachs from Pro Plan to Farmina, nothing seemed to make a difference in his stool. I’ve been transitioning him to this food along with the wet food for a few weeks now and he is finally producing solid stool! I never thought I could be this excited over poop. My little pup is a golden doodle and she looks this food! Prior we had her on a different brand which gave her an allergic reaction. This was one of the brands the vet had recommended so we gave it a try. The food is definitely pricey but worth it for my fur-daughter. A 18lb bag is around $40 and the 35lb is about $80. I recently rescued an adult dog who wasn't excited about meal times and was leaving kibble in the dish for hours, and sometimes only eating half or less of what she should be, even though we fed a quality kibble of another brand that my previous dogs had all loved. I read really great things about Royal Canin, and how many vets feed their own animals this brand. There's a bewildering number of different kinds of RC dog food, so I'd suggest going to their website and using their food selector quiz to help narrow it down. So Day 1, I tried mixing in a little bit of the RC with the old kibble, to slowly transition, as is usually suggested. To my surprise, my pup went through the dish and picked out all the RC kibbles to eat and left the rest! Well, I think that makes it clear what her preference is – and since we fully switched her food over, she's been excited at meal times and cleans her bowl on the spot. We're also already seeing a reduction in her dry skin/dandruff issues, and I'm hopeful that with a bit more time on this new diet, we'll be able to clear it up completely. It's expensive, but I appreciate that she's not wasting food and I know she's getting the nutrients she needs. I think we have a happy customer and will keep her on Royal Canin for life! Did quite a bit of research when we got our puppy. There are really only a handful of dog food manufacturers who actually have their own PhD dietician on staff, own their own factories, and produce thier product without contractors. Royal Canin is one of the very few. Not that other food is bad, but many other manufacturers who don't check these boxes are essentially winging it, with less control of the manufacturing process. Much of the dog food business is unfortunately marketing, but my research has enabled me to trust Royal Canin has our dog's best interest in mind. We transitioned from the puppy food to this adult food when she turned one and she did great on both. She is about 1.5 now and I don't see us every switching to a different food.DorasDad

My dog loves and eats this with no problem. He is a picky poodle who doesn’t like to eat dog food even when he is starving so imagine my delight when he ate this with no problem.
