I used to feed grain free and such but after attending a canine health seminar at my breed nationals, it was talked about that dogs need a more balanced diet and that it does include grains. I had also been avoiding chicken as I had a dog who was allergic but was convinced to try this. They source quality ingredients and they are processed in a way that keeps them quality. Since then, a lot has also come out about grain free high protein causing heart problems in dogs! I switched to Royal Canin in October and my pugs have never looked better! Pugs are not a very active breed and yet the grain free diets kept them too lean for my taste. I also had issues with urinary tract infections and yeast. This food provides a good balance of carbs/protein and I see it reflected in my dogs. Healthy weight, good quality of coat and lots of energy. I feed the large breed blend to my Rottweiler too and get nothing but compliments on her coat. As far as cost, I can get this locally now at Petco as cheap or cheaper than with the online big store! I feed this to my picky Yorkie who eats it well and her coat is the shiniest I've ever seen it after a couple months on this food. We were recently traveling and my large dog went on a hunger strike and refused to eat. I offered her this food to stimulate her appetite and she ate it right up! My dog has a sensitive stomach, very acidic and would vomit clear foam in the AM. The vet said it could be his diet. I usually buy the Yorkie breed specific food, but my retailer was out of it. I saw this on the shelf and decided I would try it instead of ordering online or running to different stores. Both dogs love this as much as they do the breed specific! There were no digestion issues with changing the food and the littlest of the 2 (5 pounds) I think enjoys it more since the pieces are even smaller. There is no dog who is a picker eater than my Pixie. She is the most amazing looking Pappillion, (her grandfather, Kirby, won best in Show at Westminster in 1999) weighs 6 1/2 pounds, and spits food out if she dosn't like it. My Yorkie mostly eat fresh chicken, deli turkey etc. But he always have extra small royal canin available for him. He will eat but only when starving. He is very picky and always worrisome about choking as he did choke once. So all his other food is cut up very very tiny. He will only eat if he can see me near by. There's a bewildering number of different kinds of RC dog food, so I'd suggest going to their website and using their food selector quiz to help narrow it down. So Day 1, I tried mixing in a little bit of the RC with the old kibble, to slowly transition, as is usually suggested. To my surprise, my pup went through the dish and picked out all the RC kibbles to eat and left the rest! Well, I think that makes it clear what her preference is – and since we fully switched her food over, she's been excited at meal times and cleans her bowl on the spot. We're also already seeing a reduction in her dry skin/dandruff issues, and I'm hopeful that with a bit more time on this new diet, we'll be able to clear it up completely. It's expensive, but I appreciate that she's not wasting food and I know she's getting the nutrients she needs. I think we have a happy customer and will keep her on Royal Canin for life! Did quite a bit of research when we got our puppy. There are really only a handful of dog food manufacturers who actually have their own PhD dietician on staff, own their own factories, and produce thier product without contractors. Royal Canin is one of the very few. Not that other food is bad, but many other manufacturers who don't check these boxes are essentially winging it, with less control of the manufacturing process. Much of the dog food business is unfortunately marketing, but my research has enabled me to trust Royal Canin has our dog's best interest in mind. I bought this breed mix, for my Shiba Inu. I wasn’t quite sure if this would suffice, but a kind worker told me that a “breed” recipe does not only pertain to that certain breed. So I use this and mix with half of another kibble to mix up the taste in her meals. I happened onto Maltese food 2 weeks ago (each time I shop at a pet store I always check if it’s been formulated for a Maltese yet). To my surprise I found a small bag at Petsmart. Usually I shop at Petco because my baby girl is styled at Petco in Edwardsville, IL. But, they do not carry Maltese food. So I’ll have to shop between stores. My baby girl, MIA is 2 years old on Nov 2 and I only feed her the best. Vet recommended Royal Canin. My little Roxy was first prescribed ROYAL CANIN HYDROLYZED PROTEIN DOG FOOD after becoming seriously ill. This by-prescription-only dog food was prescribed as part of her treatment plan by a veterinarian at a leading University of Veterinary Medicine Hospital. A picky eater by nature, Roxy had lost about 25% of her body weight due to her illness and was completely disinterested in food. When her doctor said she needed to go on a strict "veterinary diet", my first thought was, "I bet it tastes like hospital food does to humans." Worried that she would hate it and refuse to eat it, I was thankful, grateful, and genuinely surprised that she LOVED it!! I found this food several years ago. My King Charles Cavalier was having GI upset with every food we tried – even the limited ingredient diets! To make matters worse, she tends to be a little on the picky side as, and often did not eat regularly! I started using Royal Canin last year after my Yorkie had a vomiting episode and the vet recommended the Small Digestive Care food. She is very picky, but she LOVES that food and ate it happily. However, she is 7 years old and started gaining weight from the high fat content and calories. When we got our shih-tzu 4 years ago he was on a terrible diet. We switched him over to Royal Canin and haven’t looked back. We got a new puppy in October of 2019 and have also fed him Royal Canin. They have regular bowel movements, this may be tmi but they’re not as smelly or big compared to other dogs I’ve seen on another diet. Not shih tzu related but we tried many diets with out cat. When we found her she had runny bowels and after trying several brands we decided to try Royal Canin and she no longer has any issues. Can’t recommended this brand enough as all three of my fur babies love it and do really well with it! My only complaint is the size of the bags. Wish they would sell bigger ones._KiraK

My poor dog had suffered some sort of skin condition for years and nothing seemed to help. She had numerous patches of dry, scaly skin which would scab over and her hair would come out in clumps. I felt really sorry for her as she seemed to be under the weather and not her usual perky self. I had been prescribed Malaseb shampoo but this only seemed to make her skin worse and there was so much hair left in the bath I though she was going to go bald. After numerous tests and medication, one of the veterinary nurses suggested I slowly introduced her to Royal Canin Skin Care and started using Douxo shampoo so we were combating her skin condition from two different angles. I'm glad to say that her skin has improved immensely and her coat has a lovely sheen. She still itches every so often but this is probably an allergy of some sort but her skin and coat are in great condition.

My 4 year old German shepherd has always had GI issues no matter what she ate. Her mom was the same way, but pedigree was the only thing that helped her. I tried pedigree and it was working great for a while. Soon after my dog started to throw up acid and have either loose stools to diarrhea. The vet would diagnose her with anxiety and put her on a diet consisting of cooked chicken, plain rice, cottage cheese and pumpkin. That did work but eventually I had to get her back onto regular dog food in order to get her all the nutrients she required. Again the food would work and then stop. I tried the canned royal canine food but that also have her GI issues. I searched online and found this food from royal canine and the reviews were what made me buy it. Most of the reviews addressed the same issues I was having and stated their dog’s GI issue minimized to being completely nonexistent. It was pretty expensive and didn’t come in a smaller bag but at that point I was desperate. Trying new foods would work for a week max and then I would have to find something else. My dog has been on this food for about 3-4 weeks now and so far I have not had an issue! She absolutely loves this food and cannot get enough. If you want dog food that not only helps with GI issues (digestive), but something your dog will actually eat and keep their weight maintained I would highly recommend. This is the perfect food for my 2 year old bloodhound. Although he weighs a little over 100 pounds, he can easily eat this kibble. Tried the Royal Canin Giant Breed, but the kibble size is too big and I have to crush the pieces with a hammer. I have been feeding this food to my 11 year old Chihuahua for years now. She was paralyzed and given up for adoption when she was 6 years old and I adopted her right away! We have to express her bladder several times a day. About a year after she was paralyzed she began to get UTI's regularly. I give it to them a couple times a week instead of their dry food and they scarf it down as fast as they can and go to each other‘s bowls to see if there’s any left anywhere. They scoot the bowls all around the kitchen in their quest to find a morsel that might be left. From my standpoint, the small pouches are convenient so I don’t have to worry about storing excess in the refrigerator in dealing with and gelatinous leftover like cans sometimes do. Also don’t have to dirty a spoon or scoop. The food slides out of the package easily without leaving excess in the bag for you to have to dig out so you don’t have to dirty your hands, either. As far as digestion, the dogs have had no problems. Their stools are still formed, compact and easy to pick up. As far as quality and popularity, it is a win. My Yorkie is beyond picky. She will refuse dry food and go on hunger strikes until I give her something else. She was on a raw diet for a while and loved it but started having major digestive issues. Vet recommended this food after all the tests came back clear. I thought she would hate it but she loves it. My Lhasa Apso, Holly, has been eating this food since she was a puppy. She is 14-1/2 years old now. This is the only food she can eat without getting sick. After trying many expensive foods, I bought this one when they were out of the one I usually bought. It was another Royal Canine brand for small dogs. Well they liked this one better. It seems to have a coating or something on it which I guess they like. While they don’t have digestive issues, they seem to like it. They are Havanese and Havanese are know to be picky. For years, i have been buying expensive "quality" dry dog kibble for my sons companion Mini Schnauzer. Her health and energy level just never seemed quite right. We were recommended this food for our puppy because he was the runt of the litter. It is very pricey. It had the right ingredients to help our dog gain weight in a healthy way. It is smaller to chew. Overall a very good brand. But I’m my opinion to expensive to realistically feed it to my dog long term.lonita.a

While a little pricey, I had a coupon for $20 off. Made the trip across town worth it! They only \"issue\" I had was actually a minor inconvenience. The store wanted me to TEXT when I got there. My cell phone is strictly for calling. The number was not posted outside of the store; fortuanely, I had it in my phone just in case. Product was ready & waiting when I got there.
