I’m sorry but I would not recommend this. Within about 3 hours of my dogs eating this stuff’n they got sick. I have two black labs and we love the Kong toys. I had always put peanut butter or other things in the toy until I tried this. I put it in the toy, they played and within 3 hours BOTH of my babies were sick. I could hear their stomachs rumbling and they had horrible diarrhea. They both looked so pitiful. It passed in about 1.5-2 hours but I was so upset I had given them something that made them so sick. YAS! AMAZING! We throw this sucker on a tennis court and it won't break, the only complaint I have that isn't the balls fault but maybe you should think about before you buy this one is that our boys face gets very bloody pushing this around. Our rescue is a border collie and australian cattle dog mix. She has always been very timid and we've never been able to find a toy she likes. Our 5 month old poodle ripped the cover on this toy in less than 20 minutes. Kong says that certain dogs need special toys. I disagree in that there has been NO toy that has been destroyed so easy. As others have said, there has been no problem with other similar toys and this one is simply poorly designed. My pit Ruby can kill a tennis ball in a bite and loves too but it makes fetch more of a single throw event. I found this Kong version and it was a winner. My small dogs (12 and 19 lbs) really seem to like these small balls by playology. They fit in their mouths easily and they seem to like the fact that they can also squeak them. They are easy for them to "catch on a bounce" because of the size. This is my favorite dog toy. I got it used from a friend who's dog had enjoyed it for many years before me, and it was still in great shape. My dog has had it now for three years, and he's very destructive to toys, but this is the only toy he has NOT been able to destroy. He plays with it for hours every day, chewing it viciously. I am so glad you asked. I have had two of these balls before and left them at my old residence for some other dogs to enjoy. They lasted for years and even after being punctured they still held their shape. The handledles were a SOLID material. MY current new pup after getting over being terrified of it has now after just a short time eaten most of the handle. The handle is not solid material inside. I am very dissapointed since this was a wonderfull toy and about the only one that my dogs could bot distroy. I hope the company rethinks any cost cutting they may have done and bring back the old quality Jolly Ball. I will buy another one when that happened. I have a Great Pyrenees puppy who is a super chewer, especially fond of floss ropes. She had her original Jolly Pet ball with the easy grip rope from the time we brought her home at 8 weeks and it lasted until she was 6 months old (even through the dreaded teething phase) when she finally pulled the rope through the ball and shredded/chewed the rope until it wasn't safe for her to have. She loved this toy so much that we ordered her another, this time through e-bay. I love these Kongs on a rope! I have a bad shoulder yet I can throw these extremely far and long. My dogs love them and we occasionally play a little tug with them . However, they are NOT chew toys! Even thought this is a larger ball my German shepherd love it. I believe there was a problem with the squeaker at one point and dogs were getting the ball stuck on their tongs. So I drilled another hole at the opposite end just in case. But I can not say enough about the durability of this ball! I bought this a few weeks ago, and I would reccomend it to anyone looking for a durable ball; I give it 5 stars for durability. For the treat dispensing function, I give it 1 star. The hole is too small for any of the treats I could find, so you have to break even the smallest ones to get them in there, and then there's a smaller ball inside that blocks them from coming out anyway. It requires a hard shake, from a human, and my poor dog just gets frustrated. Either the hole should be larger, or the inner ball should be removed.MamaCrow
I bought this last week. I have a young Jack Russell and wasn't sure this toy would hold up to his chewing but it has taken no damage. Instead of using this for treats I give him his entire serving of small breed dog food in it twice a day. Small size kibble is perfect! I also cut up a few tiny treats so he has further incentive.
