Google brought me to the natural dog company because my dogs paws were the stuff off nightmares. Paw pads that look like hair which I learned was hyperkeratosis. Supposedly there is no cure for this. But I thought at the very least this would give him some relief as he must have been in some pain. Well he looks so much better already. The paws got soft enough that I was able to "trim" the filaments off sightly. Yes it was as gross as it sounds lol. He is not fully cured yet but his paws are so much closer to normal already. He is also in less pain as he is more tolerant of me putting the product on. Once he gets a bit more healed I will use the skin soother in-between the toes. The only con is that this stuff goes fast. I thought this was way too good to be true. My dog- Victoria, a catahoula- has severe allergies and has to be on a special diet, take medications, etc. even then, she has still had really bad allergies and chews her paws and legs. While she absolutely hates this stuff- I don’t know if it is the smell (it smells good, though), but on day 2 I saw a significant change in the redness and itchiness. I was such a huge skeptic because I’ve tried everything and I wasn’t expecting this to work and it has honestly been the only think that is not a medication that has helped. I run and walk my border collie 7-9 miles everyday and his paws were always rough so I decided to try this…within 1 week his cracks were almost all gone and his pads were really bad…deep skin cuts are almost fully gone!!! Musher secret pet paw protection is used year round for both my dogs. Living in the NYC, I deal with snow, salt, ice, and blistering pavement in the summers, and this product is an absolute miracle and super easy to apply. In the winter, I put it on their paws 2 to 3 times a week and they can withstand the bitter cold and salty walks. It's been two days and already my dog's dry paws are noticeably softer and less rough. We have a gravel driveway and fairly hard clay soil under the grass, and in hotter weather our dog's pads get dry and rough from dashing across it all the time. Recieved a 3oz bottle of Vetericyn Plus Hotspot Antimicrobial Hydrogel for free in exchange for an honest review. I have to say, this stuff is amazing! My lab/beagle mix suffers from skin allergies, and the poor thing will scratch and chew herself until she bleeds, so I was very eager to try this product. The day I received it, I rubbed down her belly with it (this is where she itches the most) and it seemed like she felt instant relief. When she starts scratching, I apply a thin layer of the gel and she stops almost immediately. And it lasts for hours! My poor pupper got irritated paws from horrible ginko berries smashed all over the fall ground and then made them worse by licking. They were so red and I felt so bad. This product is on the shelf next to a dozen others that claim to do the same thing, but I didn't get to it until three others didn't get the job done. This showed visible improvement within a day. Bonus that he didn't lick it off – before I tried this I would combo an antimicrobial with one of those "bitter taste dogs hate" sprays, but my dog is weird and loved those things and would lick them like crazy. I stopped giving apoquel to my dog, not only because of the expense (costing more than $200 a month), but also because of all the reviews I have read about the danger to a dog's immune system with prolonged use. I have intentionally waited to write a review because I wanted to give enough time to see if the Fidoplex was going to make a difference. I bought this supplement a year ago because my cavalier king charles spaniel had recently experienced two bad episodes with ivdd and she’s only 4 years old. We took our Newfie/Lab to the vet to get vaccinated for a training class. Shortly after his shots, he developed a skin allergy with two hot spots on each hip. I bought the boots for my elderly Golden Retriever who has a degenerative spinal condition. He has lost a lot of strength in his hind quarters and struggles at times to,get up off our tiled floors. He relies on his front paws to,do,the pushing to get up but sometimes his front paws or back paws slip making it harder still for him to be mobile. The boots are wonderful because his paws stay put. He is able to stand up with no slipping making it easier all around. The need to buy the boots became urgent when he did something to his back and suddenly lost a lot of mobility. He was unable to get himself up without assistance. Getting the boots helped so much while he was like this. Things returned to some level of normal after a week or so but we are still using the boots daily just to make his life easier. It’s really a case of managing his condition in these last months so he is comfortable. He adapted very quickly to the boots and doesn’t seem at all bothered by them.Sarah L.
My dog instantly adapted to these which was kind of disappointing because I was looking forward to goofy walking lol. We climbed a mountain yesterday and I brought them with just in case, on the way down she kept sitting so I put them on (with socks) and it was like she was so excited to have them on she wanted to fly down the trail, the rocky trail (not skree) was more irritating for her paws than I realized. She thought she was invincible now lol, but they are definitely more slick than just paws so she did slide a few times on steep dirt and tripped on bigger rocks while getting used to wearing them. Only gripe – I think I bought and returned three separate pairs before I finally got ones that fit, so who knows how much these ended up costing after the shipping back and forth. The designers do not take into account how giant paws are shaped. I got the boots that fit her width exactly and they were too small because of how tall her paws are too. I did a video fitting with an employee after my first order failure and the sizes that were recommended to me also didn't fit (couldn't even get on). I ended up just getting the biggest ones for the front and second biggest for back and hoped for the best, and they fit great, but according to their sizing (and person from video call) it would be too big. Silver lining, with her fat paws these definitely aren't falling off. I think socks are definitely required for overall comfort though. I love Ruffwear but my biggest complaint is that their large/xl sizes are not designed for actually large/xl dogs, so when following their chart for the really big sizes, they are assuming paws are still shaped like a golden retriever's. Or in the case with vests, they assume the dog is just fat and not actually extra large in shape so while the girth is well within the range they say, the arm holes don't even reach.Rachelle
Ankle Straps could go a little snugger and a little higher. They wrapped right at the dew claws. Nothing vet wrap and socks couldn't fix. Otherwise, a real paw-saver. First day of a week long trip, her toepads on all 4 paws got glued together with pine sap, took forever to get out. After that, she wore them for the rest of the trip with no complaint. Terrain was forest, pine cones, loose gravel, hard dirt, sand, hot asphalt and cement. Bonus, she came into the tent with clean feet. The lichen green color and reflective trim made it easy to find when one fell off. At the time, it was just me and her. As a woman I felt surprisingly safer because the booties and her red palisades pack made us VERY VISABLE. Got compliments and looks up and down the trail, 2 different rangers even stopped to check in just because of the get up. Took a week to break in.
