I live on a farm and my dogs lose their collars at least once a year. I keep the collars fitted loosely so if they get caught on something they can get out of them. These personalized collars are priced low – it's not a disaster when one comes up missing. Sometimes we find them later, sometimes not. It only takes a few days to get them, which is exceptional, considering they are personalized.The only con that I can see is for my one dog who is between sizes – I order the larger size to make sure I can adjust it loosely enough. This means I have to have it adjusted up to almost as small as it will go, causing the buckle to end up covering some of the embroidery. I've seen other complaints about this, but I don't know how it could be solved other than restricting the number of characters more. The sizing chart says a L is 16-20" with a total collar length of 25 inches. The collar I received is stamped L but is 28" total and on the smallest hole is 18". Due to the padding it is not possible to punch holes to make it smaller. This collar will not fit a 16" neck. I really like the quality of the hardware, however the D ring sits in front of the buckle so on the smallest hole my Large collar has 10 inches of hanging/flopping excess leather that is has no keeper to hold it. With all that said, the collar is wonderful. I love the quality of the leather and the workmanship. I just wish I had know the sizing was so off (my fault for not rading the reviews) and had ordered a medium when they were in stock. Now I have to wait until February for the restock. I was so excited about ordering my two Collies leather collars. I had their name plates put on and everything and then they show up and they are HUGE!!!! Like as big as my Great Danes collar. Before I realized how big they were I ordered my pointer a medium collar and it shows up and it’s huge as well. I have it on the tightest I can get it and now there is a flap of leather just swinging around. I folded it back over to tuck it back in the keeper and I guess it works ok but doesn’t look as nice as I wanted when I spent as much money as I did. It’s really unfortunate because it’s a beautiful collar and I would love it if it fit better. And of course I read online that because it was personalized I can’t return or exchange them either!! I would still buy another in a heart beat, just a size small unfortunately. Warning to anyone buying order a size smaller. I purchased two SmartPak Soft Padded Leather Dog Collars, one for each of my dogs. It has been my dog’s everyday collar for 9 months and I’m very impressed with how this collar is holding up! My dogs like to play rough and grab on each other’s collars and everything is holding up incredibly well. Everything is completely intact with the collar, although the tags have worn over time and will need to be replaced, likely due to how my dogs play. My dogs weigh about 55-65 lbs and I opted for the size medium which fits great for both dogs. The collar is very adjustable and runs true to size. I love the color options for this collar! I chose the Black/Grey for my dog, Buckley, and Black/Red for my reactive dog, Kody. It’s nice to have a uniform look with distinguishing colors since my dogs are brothers and look similar. I've bought 4 collars from Hot Dog Collars over the years and they were all sturdy and nicely built. I would have given 5 stars but think that their stitching could be stronger (especially if your dog likes to scratch around their necks) and the engraving a bit deeper on the nameplate. This latest one (shown on the left as I write this review) is thinner than other bully collars I've bought from them. All in all I'm quite happy with their collars… heads above the other cheap crap others sell!!
