I purchased this collar maybe 3 months ago and the buckle now pops open when my dog pulls on his collar, whether it be on his leash when he sees a squirrel or at the vet while they are just holding him into place. My dog is 55lbs and barely pulls on his leash, only when he sees small animals. Not impressed the buckle! I really liked the collar but I would prefer it if the buckle didn't break or if it was more like the belt style.Grace
I purchased this collar or one very similar for my dog last year and it ended up rubbing off his hair on his neck area and leaving an irritated raw patch. As a pet owner I was very concerned sense the collar wasn't very tight at all, I don't want this happening to anyone else's baby. I did reach out to Carhartt to inform them of this defect and they seemed concerned and offered to replace it with a better collar. They ended up not replacing it and continued to give us the run around. We also did send photos in to show how harmful it was. I loved there product but it's super disappointing they don't stand by there word. Stylish and good-looking collar. Unfortunately, it's not as durable as we had hoped. The buckle/clasp is half plastic and half metal which causes it to fail over time. Ours worked great for a little over a year on our 45 pound hound, and then began to fail if our dog applied tension to it against his leash which would cause it to fall off of him. We love ruffwear! Have been using their products for 5 years already, love the designs and materials they use but mann what’s going on with the stitching ?? It sucks when the stitching starts coming loose within days/weeks of use, i got two dogs and it feels like you got a 50-50 chance that you will get a product with defective stitching, Got two collars, the “ruffwear” tag started coming loose within a few weeks of use on one of those. Got two leashes, the buckle to use around the waist broke in two days!! On one of those, the other one is still good, Got two fernie jackets, the stitching around the neck started coming loose within ONE wash on one of those, so you get the point… luckily i know how to sew and I’m able to repair the items, but it sucks to spend top dollar on dog gear only to last in good condition for a few days or weeks.Gabriela
I have 2 beagles a little over a year old and these are the second Ruffwear collars they’ve had. I bought new ones because they grew out of their old ones and, honestly, I wanted a new look on them. For the number of tags I need to have on my dog, separate attachment points for tags and leash are a must. Everything on one ring would be a difficult mess. My Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy is growing quickly, and making small size adjustments a couple times each week is no problem. Once set, it stays set no matter how hard he pulls, no matter if the collar is dry or wet. The webbing hardly absorbs odors, and a quick wash and air dry gets rid of what little there was. My only regret is that my rough-and-tumble beast of a puppy will outgrow his medium collar in another month. The inside edges of the collar where it is "melted" together are constructed well without any sharp edges as I have found on other brands. The black, white, grey pattern looks great on our white Great Pyrenees. I buy these double braid collars for my puppies because they're infinitely adjustable. The prong from the buckle goes into the braid at any point for fine adjustments for rapidly growing puppies is possible. We have a large dog (41kg) and he is fussy with what he will walk on this type of colour with the small section of chain is the best for him. He likes it more than a harness (her has a triple coat so I think harnesses make him hot) and he is easy to control on walks and remind him to step back a bit and not walk in front. The collar itself is very well made. Did seem small when I saw it come out if the box (we got the largest) but it went over his head fine and has actually fitted him very well. Highly recommend

This style of collars are the best for dogs with a thick coat or dogs whose head is narrower than their neck. They can slip their heads out of a regular collar no matter how tight. But these collars adjust to tighten when necessary. Walking your dog but knowing they won't slip their head out. At the same time they won't pull too tight because they have a limited adjustment. Just bought this Captain America collar for my 40lb Border Collie and a Batman one for my husky mix. I'm glad that I read the reviews first, one person stated that the buckle is heavy. I just ordered another Large-Extra Large Caring Collar with Calming Disk from Pet Guys, my second Caring Collar for my 8-month German Shepherd to protect her surgery (spay) yesterday. The first collar, I used for my 2-year-4-month-old German Shepherd was when she was spayed at 10 months old. GSDs are usually very strong dogs that tend to struggle with anything put around their necks or mouths. But Caring Collar makes it easier and diminishes such struggle when putting the Caring Collar on and off around the dog's neck, unlike the plastic e-collar, which to me was so difficult and a great struggle. When I used the plastic e-collar on my first GSD at 10 months old, she banged the e-collar against her crate, managed to partially get it off and chewed it. It took a lot of sweat and difficult time for me to mend it and put it back on her neck. So, I had to go back to the pet shop to buy a new one, until I saw Caring Collar. My dog recently had surgery on his paw and he unfortunately kept licking his surgery spot. We went to Petsmart to look at cones and they had the plastic ones that looked so uncomfortable and this. This was pretty pricey but opted to go with it for the comfort etc. Although he hated it it served its purpose! He could still lay down, eat and drink with it on. The only bad thing is its still bulky so he cleared off under the coffee table but it was ok. I do recommend this product! 🐶angela.s
