Petsafe Basic Static Bark Control Dog Collar For Sale (2024 Update)

I got this bark collar for my two dogs and it worked wonderfully for a few months. They completely stopped barking! But then, the battery wouldn't stay charged. I was told that I might be doing something wrong that ruined the battery. Customer Service was uber helpful (5 stars for them!) and they sent me a new collar for free. I ended up going through five collars in just a few months with the same problem each time. The rechargeable battery is the only problem with this product, but it is a huge problem. When I finally asked Customer Service if they had any spray collars with a different type of battery, they directed me to the Elite Spray Bark Collar. When I got the collar they only had the one for little dogs, but it still works amazingly for my big dogs! It does all the same things as the rechargeable one except that it uses non-rechargeable batteries. These batteries last way longer than the rechargeable one though so it's a win-win! I highly suggest looking at the Elite Spray Bark Collars!!!NIKKI 😉

Supposed to have 35-45 sprays but it sure didn’t. We put the collar on him and angled the camera so we could watch him and try to train him to stop. He barked and it sprayed. He continued to bark. It continued to spray. It shut off like it’s supposed to. We went in and the whole place smelled like citronella. We walked back out after trying to calm him. He barked and it sprayed. He kept barking and then it stopped spraying and started flashing that it was out. The. Citronella cartridge only had maybe 5-8 sprays. We had to leave for a few hours that afternoon and we put the unscented cartridge in. After being gone for only an hour or two it was empty as well. We watched video of him and he continued to bark through the sprays. It had no effect. However, it also only had maybe 10ish sprays in it total. The cartridges aren’t worth the money as they don’t have what they are supposed to have in them. The collar was not worth the money as the spray didn’t even phase our dog. Maybe it works for others but it didn’t do anything for us apart from leave a citronella smell in the air for a few minutes.MarkD504

For starters I am not a person who usually leaves reviews but this product deserves it! I bought two of these collars for my two of my noisier dogs. I have tried everything to control their barking – trying to distract them with treats, spraying them with water to correct the behaviour, using high frequency clicker and using a training collar that I would beep if they barked as a warning and then it would vibrate if they barked again. None of these worked so I gave up for a bit, until I saw this collar come up as I was researching new collars to try – I decided to give it a shot since it was different than the methods I have previously tried. My god, it is incredible! I put the collar on my noisiest dog, a terrier, (his barking is out of control) and he barked once and it sprayed him and he has not barked since – I went from having him bark at every little sound he heard outdoors to peace and quiet. I love this product and I highly recommend it! P.S. It also works for my other dog, my terrier just gets her hyped up with his barking but now they are my quiet little hellhounds 🙂lbll12

I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I was skeptical and thought for sure this wouldn't work. I put it on my dog and let him loose in the backyard. Sure enough he barked once and to my surprise, stopped! I noticed there were people walking their dogs (we lived right next to the dog trail) and sure enough my dog darts out to the back yard and again barked once, then stopped. I was shocked! I wanted to see if it was really working so I took it off and my dog ran out there and started his annoying bark. I called him in and out the collar back on and again ran out but this time he did not bark. I must have done this about 3-4 times and the results were the same. Here we are 1 week from the day I bought it and my dog's behavior has completely changed. Everytime I let him out to potty, I'll put his collar on and no unnecessary barking from him. First, this product works when used according to directions. My dog is a 7 lb malti-poo and all the other collars are too big for little dogs. The collar made her yelp the first few times it gave corrections, which scared us a little bit, but it seems that it doesn't really hurt them because now the first correction doesn't make her yelp after she got used to being corrected. I think it just scared her the first few times. But be prepared for that if you have a very small dog. Within a few days the barking was already under control, she barks once (or not at all), and then just growls a little bit. She has learned to keep it under the radar. We took the collar off for a few days and the learning seems to carry over. I think it will take a few months to make permanent, but it is definitely working. The only problems with this collar are that it is still somewhat big for a 7 lb dog and tends to move around on her neck quite a bit. It is difficult to prevent it from moving without making it too tight. But I still think this is the best out there for this size dog. The battery dies very rapidly in the beginning when they are learning. So order a spare from the beginning, if your dog barks a lot you will only get a few weeks out of the first battery. I shopped around quite a bit and found this to be the best price for this product.letsmakeadealiooo

I have a bigger 4 year old silky terrier about 20 lbs which I adopted about 6 months ago from the city kennel. I figured out pretty quickly he didn't like the mailman, passersby the front window, squirrels, birds, parked cars, anything and everything. He destroyed the wood trim on my front window trying to get at everything. Needless to say he was a handful. I tried the can with coins, squirt bottles, happy shhhs, treats, toys to distract him, just about everything to no avail. So one of my clients suggested the citronella spray no bark collar. At first I thought that's something I don't really want to do to him, because he is small. Finally I had it, went out and bought the citronella spray no bark collar. It started shooting out citronella for no reason…so I packed it up, took it back, paid the extra and got the little dog static no bark collar…I am sooooooooo glad I did. THIS PRODUCT WORKS GREAT. Initially I felt horrible, but there had to be a line drawn and my sanity and home have been saved. He is a completely different dog. Well behaved, calm, chews his Kong and relaxes with no barking. I initially had to test it out with the mailbox, went out of sight, opened and slammed it loudly so he could hear. He started barking, then yelped a little. By the 3rd time he was sitting there. Not a peep…so he is still getting used to the collar, but I swear it was worth the 100 dollars. You will have a new dog and peace and quiet. Just follow the directionsMike

The collar worked brilliantly, if you're not concerned about your 12-pound dog jumping about two feet in the air and letting out a screeching yelp that's louder than his bite. This is exactly what happened with our dog; he was obviously given a very painful jolt. He barked once, and then KABLAM! (We immediately took the collar off.) So the product might actually "work," but the intensity of the jolt was way too much for our dog. (Spare me any conjecture that this should be considered normal.) Looking at the specs for this product, it's intended for "small dogs" that are "55 pounds or less." Since when is a 55-pound dog considered "small"? My guess is that the collar is not very well calibrated for smaller dogs — in the 5-15 pound range. So maybe you folks need to rethink the design a bit, and make a product that's more reliable and that actually is "pet safe." PETSAFE RESPONSE Thank you for sharing your experience, Geoff. Our new pup now almost 1 1/2 years old, was a barking machine. Hard to control or stop. We got this hoping that would help and it has. Our dog has a LOT of fur and it was hard to get contact but when that issue was resolved we noticed the barking decreased within a day or two. When we took off the collar, there was a tendency for our dog to ramp up again but once it was back on, the excess barking stopped. The dog has now figured out, collar on, no barking. Collar off, barking some is ok. Hopefully that goes away with time. Next we need to work on whining, sigh…Mossman1

The PetSafe Bark Collar has been a tremendous help with our Australian Shepard who loved to bark at anything and everything from dusk until dawn. We put the collar on right away and it started working immediately for him. It doesn't seem to hurt him at all. I think it startled him more than anything but he is fine. We are able to take him on walks now and to the park . The kids are not scared of him anymore and we can actually talk to each other calmly without having to get frustrated trying to talk over his barking. I read all the reviews on a lot of bark collars and the PetSafe Barking Collar – PBC17-16635 by far had the best reviews. After talking with my husband we decided to purchase. Once received we read the instruction manual and did as it said but no matter what we did nothing was working. I emailed and Jason sent through a video lnk which gave us more of a clearer understanding of what to do. Upon following those instructions I cant fault it. Let me prequalify this by saying that I am a fan of PetSafe Products. The Stay and Play Wireless fence and the Large Dog Citronella Anti-Bark Collars have worked flawlessly for my medium size indoor/outdoor pup. I also have a 1.5 year old Yorkie, and the PetSafe Elite Little Dog Spray Bark Control has design and operational flaws that I can't overlook: 1. The unit's sensor is not a typical rear sensor, and it doesn't pick-up normal barking unless it is high intensity (this is WHEN it works). 2. The unit does not last for the full amount of sprays. 3. The unit has to be at a high level of tightness to the point of almost choking the dog to remain in place in order to be correctly positioned to both pick-up the barking and deliver the spray. 4. The unit does not have an ON/OFF switch other than turning the battery, and then you have to manipulate even that when wanting to reset the bark counter. The bark counter should be reset in the electronics when the battery is removed if that's the case and reflect this in the refill directions for the spray. At the end of the day, I have use spray collars for my outdoor dog at my home for years, so I am familiar with the quirks. I have remained faithful to PetSafe, and they never let me down. The Elite Little Dog Spray collar is not up to their usually high standards. I have bought one, exchanged one, and bought another to give this product a fair chance, and I am heading to Petco this morning to return the last one as a disappointed customer. I have moved to an apartment from a home in the process of building a new house, so it is imperative that I be able to reinforce that excess barking is not acceptable. I bought two of these and neither of them worked. The first one worked for about a week of occasional use. Then it started leaking a steady, tiny hiss of spray from the intake hole. Months later, on a road trip w/now 2 small dogs I picked up 2 of the older, silver models that use the 6 volt batteries. They still work great (2 years later, intermittent use for overnights away from home or having exciting visitors that the dogs celebrate vocally, Enthusiastically, unceasingly. Also for occasional backyard relaxing if the neighbor kids get the dogs too excited.) I shared one with my sister for her dog on a hotel overnight and it was a revelation to her. I tried to buy her one but can only find the new “elites” with that proprietary battery so I caved, hoping the leaky one I had was a fluke. I got a few inconsistent sprays out of it, many barks without spray, then it just quit completely. I tried a new battery, refilled the spray and The lights did their thing correctly when I followed the steps to turn it on. Then I tested it by loudly barking right up against The back of it, tapping the back of it, holding it against my own throat and trying different tones of loud singing and yelling… nothing. I’ve wasted too much $ on the bad new design ones that don’t work. I really wish I could get another old silver model one to give my 4 legged niece. Obviously the requirement of a $15 proprietary battery makes this PetSafe’s preferred model to make, regardless of it’s consistent failure to function. Disappointing.JenMN

Purchased this collar from Chow Down pet supplies. It had absolutely zero effect on my dog. He completely ignored whatever sound was coming from the device. I threw this away and got a much pricier static correction collar that has customizable settings. No comparison, much more effective… don't waste your money on cheap pet safe products.D Cooper

When I first got my puppy at 6 months old he would constantly bark. I was told at the store this is not a very good bark training collar, but if I wanted something inexpensive to try it and if it didn’t work I could return it. I was then hesitate that it didn’t work, but still tried it and loved it! Every time he barked you could see the light flash on it. 1 downfall is the collar can be easily rotated around the neck no matter how tight you have it if the scratches at it. It needs to be kept in the front of the dogs neck, and as high up the neck as possible. So you have to keep adjusting it, but I also found it shocks them if they are doing something they aren’t supposed to, and when you yell loudly at them it shocks them as well. So it serves a multipurpose of bark control, and obedience. I only had to use it on my dog for less than a week, and he stopped the constant barking, chewing, and was 100% more obedient! I’d recommend it to anyone who doesn’t want to spend a crazy amount of money on training collars, or bark collars! Worked great!Lauj

my dog can’t even shake his head without getting a correction. Almost any sound cause him to get a correction so it is scary and confusing for him. It would be nice if there was a sensitivy adjustment but the collar as designed is not helpful. The average bark of a dog compared to the sounds that are setting this off are not the same and all will cause the dog anxiety due to the false stimulations.Heather52

I bought the bark collar for my small breed dog who whines constantly & barks at every noise she hears. The collar worked great the first month, and then started shocking her randomly, when she wasn’t making a noise, and then quit all together. I tried to reset it per the instruction manual, and it didn’t work. I have made sure it’s on her neck properly, the green light has still been flashing saying it’s charged after 6wks. I charged it once today, and she has whined constantly since I put it back on her without a shock. So I am very dissatisfied with this collar. The PetSafe bark collar is a basic bark collar with built in levels of correction. repeated barking activate higher levels of correction. In the base model, programming is done with the on/ off button. Confirmation of operation is accomplished by audio feedback. My hearing is not the best, and I had to hold the collar right next to my ear to hear the tones, but otherwise operation is strait forward I tried the collar on two different size dogs with excellent results. One was a medium size dog, a standard Poodle of about 40 pounds and the other, a small dog, a Schipperke, about 12 lbs. Both dogs responded well to the collar. I believe the size of the collar might become a factor in smaller dogs, especially when combined with other collars (license, flea etc.). The collar is rechargeable with any USB source and the USB cable is included, along with a test light and different size tips for the various dogs. Over all, the bark collar is a convenient, effective, and safe means do deter nuisance barking.Rust T

I purchased this product for a new puppy who was being crate trained in an apartment. I chose this particular model because of the 15 incremental levels of correction and because of the recharging feature. I have used other models in the past and spent a fortune on model specific batteries. The collar itself was easy to fit. Even on a three month old puppy. It worked as advertised delivering incremental correction upon detecting a whine or bark. The problem is the dog failed to cease barking instead increasing his barks to the given correction. The collar was removed and another attempt was made to use the collar again with the same results. Two other attempts were made but by then the dog became visibly agitated at the site or placement of the collar. I returned the collar to tractor supply without any difficulties for a full refund. I decided to follow a more holistic approach and purchased Naturvet Hemp Quiet Moments soft chews. These chews given 45 minutes before crating do the trick and he now enters and remains quiet. It has taught him his crate is his safe space. The Naturvet product was purchased at Tractor Supply. We buy all of our food and treats and other supplies for the quality, fair prices, availability and extremely friendly associates, thanks again Emma. My Dalmatian barks a lot, even in the middle of the night, when he hears something. It's been getting worse and very annoying. I decided to try this collar, not expecting much. To my surprise, the collar worked immediately! My dog got slightly "zapped" a couple of times, and then realized that his barking needed to calm down. I'm not saying he never barks at all anymore; it's just that once he starts, he gets a signal to stop, and that's all it takes now. He is very attached to my husband and used to bark and howl every time my husband left the house. That has stopped, too. I can't believe I found this item that has helped keep the peace in our house. I can't believe how great this bark collar works! We have a Bagle, Beagle/Basset Hound who is the sweetest boy ever, BUT he barks/Howls at everything that moves! We've been using this bark collar on our German Shepherd and it's working! He barks at everyone out the front window or while on car rides and his bark is very loud. I've tried other collars in the past that give off a beeping noise and can be controlled by a remote control, but that beeping sound scares my mini poodle too much so we had to stop using it. I was excited to try this collar knowing it releases a different type of sound. So far it distracts the GSD and works to deter him from barking. This product does exactly what I expected it to do. It starts with small warning shocks, then works up to stronger ones if my dog continues to bark. Although, it did not take very long for my dog to understand that his barking is what is being corrected! On the first day of its use, he is walking SO much better on leash. He used to bark aggressively and pull anytime he saw people or other dogs, but now he acts like they don't exist and walks calmly! I feel extremely relieved going on walks now. The collar itself is made of a bendable plastic-like material that is waterproof, which is really nice considering we live in Washington where it rains a lot! I love that the power button has a light that lets me know when I need to charge it. The instructions say that it takes around 5 hours to fully charge, but I only charged it about an hour before going on a walk and it worked for a couple of hours! What I love most about the collar is that even though it is labeled for dogs 8lbs. and up, we still were able to get it to fit our 6-7lb. Chihuahua! We have a small dog that loves to bark at anything and everything. This works great at keeping her quite all day. It is easy to adjust to the right size and just finding the right level that works for your dog is easy. The instructions are easy to follow and you will have it ready in no time at all. Just recharge it when you do not have it on your dog and it will be good to go the next time. I just put it on him when it is needed and rest of the time he is quiet as can be. Purchased this 5 days ago, and have found it to work great! Just after putting it on first time, Curly barked his head off when family drove over for outside visit. I readjusted the fit after that, and has been working very well. When Curly’s normal bug triggers happen ( delivery man), he has let out one big bark.., then just rather cute little woofs. I’m happy he can still communicate, but has learned to use his ‘inside voice’! I’m careful and follow directions to avoid any potential negatives, like always off at least 12 hours per day. Stopped the shrill barking in 2 hours! Seven-month-old GSD lost her mind in her crate when you were doing anything but paying attention to her. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I'm done wasting my money! PETSAFE RESPONSE Thank you for taking the time to review the Basic Static Bark Collar. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. I was skeptical and thought for sure this wouldn't work. I put it on my dog and let him loose in the backyard. Sure enough he barked once and to my surprise, stopped! I noticed there were people walking their dogs (we lived right next to the dog trail) and sure enough my dog darts out to the back yard and again barked once, then stopped. I was shocked! I wanted to see if it was really working so I took it off and my dog ran out there and started his annoying bark. I called him in and out the collar back on and again ran out but this time he did not bark. I must have done this about 3-4 times and the results were the same. Here we are 1 week from the day I bought it and my dog's behavior has completely changed. Everytime I let him out to potty, I'll put his collar on and no unnecessary barking from him. The class on this collar is awful. I had to reorder one in a matter of three days. Customer service told me it must have been chewed on (which it wasn’t) and said as a contest they’d send me a new one. I waited two weeks and never received it. Called again and had one sent. I have bought the trainer device for my deaf pup. I also purchased the bark collar for him. He is a mid sized dog. The clasp has broken on the trainer collar. I have to use rubber bands around the collar to keep it from losing up. There has to be a better way to a adjustable collar. Especially when you have a growing dog.Nett

It is simple and easy to get started. Distance is accurate. If puppy/ dog has thick fur definitely have to unlock static levels. Vibrate only one level no to slight response viewd with our dog thick fur. Battery life not best, no off switch for remote, and you can only do 2 choices quickly (tone and vibrate or tone and static) only negatives. We use tone and static due to our dogs thick fur/ response.WMA6

I bought the 300 yard lite about 2 months ago for my 1 yr old Springer spaniel who is a little shy and very sensitive to corrections yet loves to bark at the neighbors. He usually stays in yard but does wander to neighbors on occasion to bark at them. Underground fencing not a good option for me so I tried this device. Wow it’s amazing! I trained him on our boundaries and recall with lots of praise and have only had to use the tone and vibration modes. The barking and preoccupation with neighbors has decreased substantially. He also loves to swim and I love that this collar is waterproof. I hope it withstands all the summer swimming and lasts over time. It does say it’s waterproof.Lakegirl97

We have had this PetSafe 300 for a couple of years now. It most definitely works in the 300 yard area. It is also very tough! It has survived several playful Corgis, and is now on a very rambunctious German Shepard. We really like the many selections you have with this trainer, from low to high. The hand held remote battery seems to last forever between charges, but the collar not so long. We seem to only get two days worth out of a charge at the most, which is why I can't give it a full 5 star rating. I would give it 4.5 starts if that was possible. Overall we would definitely buy again. We are looking to get another collar so the other can charge while one is on the rambunctiously large German Shepard puppy. I say puppy.. She's like 75lbs!!! We installed the in ground wire around the perimeter of our property. I have one dog that digs under our fence and one that climbs the fence. These collars keep our dogs away from the fence and keeps them from running out into the street. We have had our fence for 5 years now and only replaced the collars once because I misplaced them. Batteries need replacement every few months. I like that the dogs get a beeping warning once they are within a few feet of the perimeter and only get shocked if they cross the boundary.fldolphinmc

I have a lab / hound mix that is 11 years old and she weighs about 85lbs. We began usin this collar since April 2017 and within 3 months, one of the prongs broke off. We contacted petsafe and were told that this is an uncommon problem and that the only way this could happen is due to "rough play, hitting it against an object, over-tightening the probes, etc." I have a hard time believing our senior aged dog plays rough enough to break the prongs of a durably made product. If you have a larger / sporting breed dog, i would steer clear of this product and go with Invisible Fence or the SportDOG brand from another retailer. They seem to cater to larger / sporting breeds. We've had our fence under a year, no problems with the actual fence. We have 2 dogs on the fence, 1 is an English Mastiff and the other is a Cocker Spaniel. The Cocker Spaniel's clip/closure cracked and broke off so we had to go out and search almost an acre of property to find it. We did find it but it is a PAIN to have to go out and search for a collar that you would not expect to break. Recently our English Mastiff has been strolling off the property, she has never done that in the almost year we have had it. First think I did was check the battery and decided to be safe we would change it!! That didn't work so I decided to take off the collar and check it to make sure it worked and it does but there are certain times when it don't. I have it on the highest frequency and I'm hoping this works, I will keep you informed. But us like others are missing the clear caps that cover the button to change the frequency. I don't understand how these pieces can come off unless we take them off, this tells me that there is a malfunction in your manufacturing if we are not the only ones missing these caps!! Then to top it off, you sell these clear caps and expect us to pay for them, something doesn't seem right. If you know these clear caps come off, shouldn't you be trying to fix this issue and offer those caps or free? ​Rich T

I have two Neapolitan mastiffs. One is 190lvs and the other is 170lbs, male and female. We ha e a large property but lots of other houses around, no one has fences including us. While everybody else's dogs are tied up on chains outside, our two big dogs get to roam free along our property because of these collars. Keeps them super happy and all the other dogs are jealous! I didn't think it would work because they are so big. My male weighs as much as a human man, but they only tested at one time at each boundary line and they've never gone back.they can run full speed to our property line and they know when to stop. it doesn't matter if people walk by or other dogs go by, they don't bother with them. It's a lifesaver to be able to just let your dogs out the door when they have to go to the bathroom and let them get exercise without having to worry about driving to dog parks or taking two big dogs out on a leash!Neolove

Our dog is so happy with this collar! We have a very busy vizsla and I was worried about how the shock collar would effect his personality (he’s such an emotional dog), but after a week of training multiple times per day with the kids I don’t even have to put the shock on! Collar has been replaced twice in 6 years. Each time because the plastic housing cracks and crumbles. This replacement from Petsafe lasted ~ 16-17 months (actually less – I’ve been nursing the pieces along). This time, the o-ring groove on the INSIDE of the housing cover has popped out and literally crumbled. Not very old at all, not exposed to weather, UV, or abuse. Maybe 4th battery change since new. This is a great product for my Aussie. Humane and safe way to stop the barking. After a couple of wearings, when working, she stops barking as soon as I put it on her- without spraying. Here is the problem. The device does not last more than the few months of our Oregon summers. I am about to or Urchase my third collar in as many years. It really is too expensive for such short life. And, yes, I am purchasing another because it does work well. Another problem is that I forget to turn it off so we go through ALOT of batteries. I had used a bark collar that used static shock before, and I was suspicious of it going off when it wasn't supposed to. So I tried this collar thinking, "Yeah right, my dog is not going to care", but it's actually enough of a surprise to him that he does immediately stop his senseless barking. He get's away with very low soft "whuffs" but the mindless barking stopped. It also leaves a clean fresh scent behind. (added bonus I guess!)I have noticed twice that it has gone off without him barking. Both times he had it scrap against a wooden and then concrete surface. I board dogs and have come across a good number of dogs that bark at anything or nothing at all. Add some roommates that work nights & sleep during the day time and well, things can go south pretty quickly. This citronella spray works wonders for curbing excessive barking/whining, doesn’t add to their anxiety and actually leaves the room smelling pleasant. The only call out I have is that you don’t know when it’s empty but I imagine the dogs will let you know! This is an effective tool to conditioning a dogs behavior without causing undue stress.
