It is simple and easy to get started. Distance is accurate. If puppy/ dog has thick fur definitely have to unlock static levels. Vibrate only one level no to slight response viewd with our dog thick fur. Battery life not best, no off switch for remote, and you can only do 2 choices quickly (tone and vibrate or tone and static) only negatives. We use tone and static due to our dogs thick fur/ response.WMA6

I bought the 300 yard lite about 2 months ago for my 1 yr old Springer spaniel who is a little shy and very sensitive to corrections yet loves to bark at the neighbors. He usually stays in yard but does wander to neighbors on occasion to bark at them. Underground fencing not a good option for me so I tried this device. Wow it’s amazing! I trained him on our boundaries and recall with lots of praise and have only had to use the tone and vibration modes. The barking and preoccupation with neighbors has decreased substantially. He also loves to swim and I love that this collar is waterproof. I hope it withstands all the summer swimming and lasts over time. It does say it’s waterproof.Lakegirl97

We have had this PetSafe 300 for a couple of years now. It most definitely works in the 300 yard area. It is also very tough! It has survived several playful Corgis, and is now on a very rambunctious German Shepard. We really like the many selections you have with this trainer, from low to high. The hand held remote battery seems to last forever between charges, but the collar not so long. We seem to only get two days worth out of a charge at the most, which is why I can't give it a full 5 star rating. I would give it 4.5 starts if that was possible. Overall we would definitely buy again. We are looking to get another collar so the other can charge while one is on the rambunctiously large German Shepard puppy. I say puppy.. She's like 75lbs!!! We installed the in ground wire around the perimeter of our property. I have one dog that digs under our fence and one that climbs the fence. These collars keep our dogs away from the fence and keeps them from running out into the street. We have had our fence for 5 years now and only replaced the collars once because I misplaced them. Batteries need replacement every few months. I like that the dogs get a beeping warning once they are within a few feet of the perimeter and only get shocked if they cross the boundary.fldolphinmc

I have a lab / hound mix that is 11 years old and she weighs about 85lbs. We began usin this collar since April 2017 and within 3 months, one of the prongs broke off. We contacted petsafe and were told that this is an uncommon problem and that the only way this could happen is due to "rough play, hitting it against an object, over-tightening the probes, etc." I have a hard time believing our senior aged dog plays rough enough to break the prongs of a durably made product. If you have a larger / sporting breed dog, i would steer clear of this product and go with Invisible Fence or the SportDOG brand from another retailer. They seem to cater to larger / sporting breeds. We've had our fence under a year, no problems with the actual fence. We have 2 dogs on the fence, 1 is an English Mastiff and the other is a Cocker Spaniel. The Cocker Spaniel's clip/closure cracked and broke off so we had to go out and search almost an acre of property to find it. We did find it but it is a PAIN to have to go out and search for a collar that you would not expect to break. Recently our English Mastiff has been strolling off the property, she has never done that in the almost year we have had it. First think I did was check the battery and decided to be safe we would change it!! That didn't work so I decided to take off the collar and check it to make sure it worked and it does but there are certain times when it don't. I have it on the highest frequency and I'm hoping this works, I will keep you informed. But us like others are missing the clear caps that cover the button to change the frequency. I don't understand how these pieces can come off unless we take them off, this tells me that there is a malfunction in your manufacturing if we are not the only ones missing these caps!! Then to top it off, you sell these clear caps and expect us to pay for them, something doesn't seem right. If you know these clear caps come off, shouldn't you be trying to fix this issue and offer those caps or free? ​Rich T

I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. I was skeptical and thought for sure this wouldn't work. I put it on my dog and let him loose in the backyard. Sure enough he barked once and to my surprise, stopped! I noticed there were people walking their dogs (we lived right next to the dog trail) and sure enough my dog darts out to the back yard and again barked once, then stopped. I was shocked! I wanted to see if it was really working so I took it off and my dog ran out there and started his annoying bark. I called him in and out the collar back on and again ran out but this time he did not bark. I must have done this about 3-4 times and the results were the same. Only took 2-3 sessions and 2 mild static corrections to have my frisky Doberman trained! She loves to bolt into the woods at the first sign of this stray cat and nothing has been able to prevent it until now. I even let her out without the collar and she stays in the designated area. I heard that the battery dies quickly on the collar so when she is not outside, I take the battery out of the collar to lengthen the battery life. It's been 6 months and still on the original battery. If you live in a condo/townhouse, you may have to get creative with the base placement since the radius is a circle.dgoleno

This system of pet containment is one of the best things we've purchased and have been using for years. We have 2 transmitters at home and 2 more at a vacation cottage. 2 allows for a larger area for dogs by over lapping fields of coverage. We currently rent our home so putting up fencing is not an option for us. This wireless fence allows us to let our dog enjoy some perceived freedom. The system works very well and keeps our pup confined to our yard. Batteries in the collar have to be changed on a regular basis. If not, you may find yourself chasing down an overjoyed dog who intentionally runs through every puddle in your neighborhood. Purchased this collar from Chow Down pet supplies. It had absolutely zero effect on my dog. He completely ignored whatever sound was coming from the device. I threw this away and got a much pricier static correction collar that has customizable settings. No comparison, much more effective… don't waste your money on cheap pet safe products.D Cooper

When I first got my puppy at 6 months old he would constantly bark. I was told at the store this is not a very good bark training collar, but if I wanted something inexpensive to try it and if it didn’t work I could return it. I was then hesitate that it didn’t work, but still tried it and loved it! Every time he barked you could see the light flash on it. 1 downfall is the collar can be easily rotated around the neck no matter how tight you have it if the scratches at it. It needs to be kept in the front of the dogs neck, and as high up the neck as possible. So you have to keep adjusting it, but I also found it shocks them if they are doing something they aren’t supposed to, and when you yell loudly at them it shocks them as well. So it serves a multipurpose of bark control, and obedience. I only had to use it on my dog for less than a week, and he stopped the constant barking, chewing, and was 100% more obedient! I’d recommend it to anyone who doesn’t want to spend a crazy amount of money on training collars, or bark collars! Worked great!Lauj

my dog can’t even shake his head without getting a correction. Almost any sound cause him to get a correction so it is scary and confusing for him. It would be nice if there was a sensitivy adjustment but the collar as designed is not helpful. The average bark of a dog compared to the sounds that are setting this off are not the same and all will cause the dog anxiety due to the false stimulations.Heather52

I have a pup that is a large breed, he looks like I been feeding him steak and potatoes cause he's so dang big. He is ALL puppy though. Chews on everything loves running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Been trying to train him to chill with me, yeah, right. He wants to play. And because he wants to play, he wants to run every stinkin where. Decided, for my sanity as well as his safety, I'd get this thing. Put the flags out, set it on a low static charge, and it didn't take long before he figured it out. You DO have to WORK a dog with this. It's not just a plug it up and watch their hair shoot up when they get popped. Walked him around the perimeter for 7 days, he sees and sniffs the flags. After that, I let him run around, and he got popped maybe 3 times, and figured it out. Now he's pretty dang happy, and I can let him rip around with zoomies while I work in the yard. I have a 2 yr old LARGE French Mastiff that weighs 180ish! I bought with the (red in color) “stubborn” collar. We previously installed a wired underground fence. (Which I have to mention took 2 FULL DAYS TO INSTALL AND READY TO USE!!) My Bo would realize he was close to the boundary, take a step or two back then take a run right through it, with no second thought!!! We watched him do this several times. I guess he was thinking, well this is going to hurt but only for a few short seconds. Idk?? But it did NOT phase him one bit! I had talked to 4 or 5 people that had this system, so reluctantly I decided to give it a try. I thought to myself well if it doesn’t work I will simply return it, no harm no foul. My boyfriend had it installed and collar on Bo in 30 mins flat. We walked ole hard-headed Bo around maybe 4 times to show him the boundaries. Once he heard the beeping, he kept walking then he felt the shock 1 time and that must have been enough because he never ventured close again! It has been about 2 months of use and I would give it 100 STARS IF IT WAS AN OPTION! We live in a subdivision where houses are fairly close. I was ultimately worried that the zone would lead into the neighboring yard. (which was the #1 thing we are trying to prevent) And although it may, Bo doesn’t even attempt to go that far. I believe he now understands to stay in his own yard! Living in a subdivision, many people take walks and Bo just sits and watches them now!! Matter of fact, just to see, we have sent him outside WITHOUT the collar and ironically enough HE STAYS IN OUR YARD!! The ONLY complaint I have is the small clear piece on the collar broke off the first time I went to adjust the strength of the shock. So far it hasn’t effected anything so fingers crossed on that! Just an FYI, we set ours on a level 3 to begin with and my boyfriend was ready to give up, so I told him to have some patience and we just kept adjusting the level on the collar and we ended up discovering for Bo he needed to be set on a #6. Again, I repeat he weighs 180 lbs, and the Mastiff bread is KNOWN for their stubbornness. I would suggest starting at the lowest level for a smaller dog PLEASE! This product saved a pound pooch. We adopted a 2 year old schnoodle (schnauzer/poodle) from a shelter. He is smart, learns tricks and basic commands quickly (with treats), but he will ignore you when he doesn't feel like obeying. His biggest issue was diving out the door any time it was opened, and when he got outside, he would run off and not return until he was finished exploring (even when called). It only took a few "stimulations" to teach him to come back when called. It has also been useful in training our "cat-dog" to stay off tables. The unit has 15 intensity settings, and we normally only have to set it on 2 or 3 (when dealing with the outside run off problem, we had to turn it up to 7 one time.) Contrary to the product directions, we use the tone feature as a warning prior to "stimulation" as we also have an electronic fence for him that uses a tone to warn him to stay in the boundaries. Therefore, trying to use the tone on the training collar as positive reinforcement would have confused him. After only 2 weeks, 99% of the time, all we have to do anytime he is disobeying in anyway is give the warning tone. He has also learned not to wander too far from me when he is off the leash. He weighs 14 lbs and has a neck circumference of 10 inches. The collar fit fine after adjusting it and cutting off the excess. The receiver is also one of the smallest of all the brands/models we looked at. Our dog has also tested the waterproof feature, as he took a dive in a swamp yesterday. So far, the unit is still functioning. The unit does have to be charged daily, even with limited use.CritterLuvR2

I liked the idea of a collar with vibration and sound versus shock or static. Didn't want to hurt my dog, just wanted to get his attention. The vibration works the best on mine, he learned within a day or two that when I called his name, I wanted him to come to me. In fact, it worked so well that I no longer need the collar for the negative behavior he displayed when I first bought it. And that's a darned good thing because an updated to the app in late April this year (changed from one app to another, forced not by choice) has rendered the collar worthless. The app itself is impossible to connect to the collar 99% of the time. If I was buying a collar again, I'd buy the same collar but would NOT opt for the phone app. I'd get it with a remote. The collar works, you won't hurt your pup, (don't use the static!) and the end result is the exclusion of negative behavior. Just be sure you don't get the one with the phone app.Mimi2Six

I literally just bought this yesterday! It is such a waste of money. The fact that it disconnects so much, and takes forever to reconnect to the collar is a terrible feature. How are you supposed to train a dog when you spend more time “connecting” to the collar. What a waste of $94. I’ve always been hesitant because I always thought that the smart colors shock the dog but I do enjoy the vibration aspect of it because it’s not harmful to my baby. It’s helping me control behaviors like staying off of the furniture and not pulling on the leash and within the short time we’ve use it I can already see you a little bit of improvement on his behavior in these areas. He will walk next to the couch but will not get on it he’ll lay in front of it which is what we wanted. And he’s also stopped tugging at the leash on walks. I am definitely Happy with this product. I also like that you can control the level of the vibration on the collar. So what we did was we gradually increase the intensity of the vibration until we knew that he could fill it we know that it would probably be a pretty high because he does have thick for him but it startles him it doesn’t it doesn’t hurt him and that’s what’s most important. I have an adopted fur-baby that had a lot of control and behavior issues. Training, the usual way was just not working. I tried this and, within one day, the disruptive behavior (running and tearing up things in the house, jumping from one piece of furniture to another, non-stop barking) all stopped. He began with sitting, immediately after only two "vibrations" of the collar. By the end of the week, all I had to do was take out the remote control, say the words of sit, stay, no and wait, and he did so. Now, I don't have to use the remote at all but just say the words. I will tell you that, under no circumstances would I recommend the "shock" feature. Because it is easily changed on this model, by accident, I found out, the hard way just how much it hurts the animal. If you click MODE, by accident, from it being on vibrate, it switches over to Shock. BE VERY CAREFUL when you are about to use the Y button, for sound or vibration as, if it's on shock–and this was the very low setting–the dog whelps loudly and jumps, shakes, etc. I would not recommend it for any animal lover as, I don't even want to know what it feels like. Because the vibration is strong, even on low settings, and the other setting of "beep" is a high frequency sound, I found them the most effective. Thebeep sound is for Guiness (my new family member) to come–I use the vibration for correction, when needed. Guiness was the most difficult dog that I have worked with and I have behavioral training for dogs, which I have used for all of my pets. If this worked on him, it will work on most dogs that have behavioral issues. I would recommend it for the vibration and sound settings–and hope to get one that doesn't have the shock setting as, I feel that is just inhumane to use on a dog (my opinion after seeing how he reacted, on just a low setting). PLEASE USE CAREFULLY until you are used to the remote. That is my only advice when purchasing this for training.kelly4jesus

I am, so far, very happy with the design of the collar and remote handset. I especially like that you can do either vibrate OR static corrections with this set, AND can adjust the level of stimulation, immediately, for each. My only complaint is that the slide on clip is NOT useful. It does not grab either a collar, belt, or pocket, to any real degree. It slips off easily and drops to the ground, to be either lost or damaged. It would be better to design a stronger spring clip or clamp that is stronger. Because it continues to fall from where it is clipped, I am forced to hold it in my hand continually. Giving the dog a visual cue that I have control handy. It is more useful for the dog no not be able to connect such an association. Putting it in my pocket results in a possible inadvertent correction to the dog unnecessarily. Although I like many aspects of this product, and being a professional dog trainer, it would be nice to be able to recommend an affordable, good quality product. But because of the handset clip, I hesitate to do so. If this design was addressed, I would recommend it.dpcclm

My dog used to jump on anyone that came over and she was hard headed about listening. Been using for about a month now and have only shocked her once (on level 2) and now she listen with or with out wearing collar. We still put it on her every day and especially if company is coming over, but she knows when she hears the beep she's gone to far in pushing her luck. Most of time beep gets back in line and if not vibrate does. Can't beleave we waited so long to get one. Now friends and family can come over again and we don't worry about her jumping up on our guest particularly little kids. We put it on her in the morning and take it off before bed time and turn collar off at night and battery will last almost 2 weeks on collar before charging (wonted to see how long battery would last between charges) , Generally now we charge it once a week over night and haven't had it die yet while she's been wearing it. Can't say how water proof it is at this point haven't allowed her in the water with it yet. Only complaint is as others have stated it's easy to change channels on transmitter if your not paying attention. But have gotten used to looking at transmitter before pushing button. Besides If your going from Beep to vibrate your gonna wanna see what you have it set to before you use transmitter again, so I don't find it that big of a deal.jnmpatterson4

Ok, maybe my dogs do if they sneak out of range setting 6 on the collar will make your dog come off the ground like a bass breaking water setting 4 is definitely enough. I have never had a problem. I have been using PetSafe for at least 15 years. I wired a half acre lot and I just open the door and out my 2 dogs go and I know they are safe. We live in the middle of Dallas. I really like how it has worked over the years except….. Using the 16 ga. wire supplied, I used to get failure in the system. The receiver box would be beeping and not working. I would have to rewire sections of the wire for it to again work properly. This happened 5 or 6 times until I rewired the whole yard perimeter with 14 ga. wire. The system has never gone down since I did this 6 or 7 years ago. I give this a 5 star rating using 14 ga. wire.Lake

This collar works well with our older Instant Fence unit. We purchased it for our small (9lb) 9 month old pup. It fits her well, and is not to big for her. There is plenty of adjustment in the collar for different sized dogs. The battery life is excellent and she has responded well to wearing it in our yard. I only wish that it had an additional mode for a vibration alert as well as sound. It would also be nice to have a louder sound for us people. When training a small dog I had to bend over to try and hear the alert as we approached the boundary. But in the end, as long as the dog hears the sound, that's all that matters. Great way to keep your pet safe in your yard. When I called pet safe for information, the customer service rep. was very helpful in choosing the right collar for our needs. That helped a lot.3 pines

I had bought this a week ago in store. I'm so happy with the progress my dog has already made using this. He used to bolt out the gate but now hes always right by my side, checking in on me and making sure I'm keeping up with him. I've finally been able to loose leash walk him without having to worry about him running off. This has help so much in such a short time! I knew about this product for several weeks, but I delayed in getting it. I thought I'd give the puppy a chance with regular training methods (treats, praise, verbal corrections) before I started futzing with a special collar and have to buy it in two sizes. That was really stupid. I wish I would have bought it sooner and spent the money on the two sizes. I got this one in a size Medium and it fits perfectly with just an easy adjustment of the buckle. Our little man is a Labradoodle, now at about 32 lbs and expected to reach a 60-ish weight probably. He is VERY high energy, very strong and very smart, but our little darling is no longer little and I have been finding myself struggling with his 32 lb self pulling on the walks. I cannot imagine when he is full grown, so I decided finally to nip this in the bud and I ordered the gentle leader. It arrived today and I was amazed at how he has NO power to pull AT ALL. I even noticed that in many situations like when he would normally lunge at something, he didn't, maybe that is just from the novelty and will eventually wear off, but for today, it was as if he had a total attitude adjustment. It was like magic. He is none too pleased about the new situation, for sure, but I am pleased as punch. Will take a few days of working with him to get used to it so he stops trying to pull it down with his paws, but even when he was trying he couldn't get it off successfully unless I let off on the tension to the leash altogether which I was able to correct for easily enough. I have an 18 month old standard poodle. I’ve had her since 9 weeks old. She’s full of energy and gets super excited. I’ve trained her well on a typical lead but I was having issues controlling her when she would get excited by people and animals. I have arthritis in my hands and wrists, I have shoulder problems as well. Every time I walked her I’d be in so much pain trying to pull her back. A service dog trainer suggested the gentle leader to me and it’s totally changed I no longer have the shoulder and back pain from pulling her back. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. I was skeptical and thought for sure this wouldn't work. I put it on my dog and let him loose in the backyard. Sure enough he barked once and to my surprise, stopped! I noticed there were people walking their dogs (we lived right next to the dog trail) and sure enough my dog darts out to the back yard and again barked once, then stopped. I was shocked! I wanted to see if it was really working so I took it off and my dog ran out there and started his annoying bark. I called him in and out the collar back on and again ran out but this time he did not bark. I must have done this about 3-4 times and the results were the same. Here we are 1 week from the day I bought it and my dog's behavior has completely changed. Everytime I let him out to potty, I'll put his collar on and no unnecessary barking from him. I have always been apprehensive of shock collars, but my dog was back-tracking on her training. She has always behaved very well on a leash, just to forget that training when the leash comes off. In only 2 weeks of use, this collar has worked like a charm! I have only had to shock once- the vibration and beep modes are enough to correct her. Both the collar and remote batteries are still charged after 2 weeks – I haven't had to recharge yet. I had a waterproof beeper before. I learned quickly after drowning it. It is not submersible. Now. I know the difference. And this one is a keeper. I love its freedom. I love to walk around the neighborhood pond with our dog, Louise. She loves to play fetch, Especially in the pond. When others walk by she wants to greet them enthusiastically. She normally follows my commands. But when people are involved she can be out of control happy. Anyway this beeper let’s her enjoying fetching in the water, and obeying my “here” command as well. Our new pup now almost 1 1/2 years old, was a barking machine. Hard to control or stop. We got this hoping that would help and it has. Our dog has a LOT of fur and it was hard to get contact but when that issue was resolved we noticed the barking decreased within a day or two. When we took off the collar, there was a tendency for our dog to ramp up again but once it was back on, the excess barking stopped. The dog has now figured out, collar on, no barking. Collar off, barking some is ok. Hopefully that goes away with time. Next we need to work on whining, sigh…Mossman1

The PetSafe Bark Collar has been a tremendous help with our Australian Shepard who loved to bark at anything and everything from dusk until dawn. We put the collar on right away and it started working immediately for him. It doesn't seem to hurt him at all. I think it startled him more than anything but he is fine. We are able to take him on walks now and to the park . The kids are not scared of him anymore and we can actually talk to each other calmly without having to get frustrated trying to talk over his barking. I read all the reviews on a lot of bark collars and the PetSafe Barking Collar – PBC17-16635 by far had the best reviews. After talking with my husband we decided to purchase. Once received we read the instruction manual and did as it said but no matter what we did nothing was working. I emailed and Jason sent through a video lnk which gave us more of a clearer understanding of what to do. Upon following those instructions I cant fault it. The functional design of this collar is beyond superior. However, it also has a feature (or lack thereof depending on how you look at it) that is extremely important to me that most people likely don't think about…..the amount of metal that comes in contact with my dog. You see, I live in AZ where the heat is extreme four months a year, even in the shade. When you can't wear sandals or sunglasses with any metal design features, hanging earrings that may brush your neck, and are always conscience of how close your bare leg is to those keys hanging from the ignition…….one thinks twice about what one puts around the beloved pet's neck (and paws). I don't know if minimal metal contact was a consideration during the design process or just a happy 'who da thunk', but it's made me a happy and loyal customer! -Thanks!Serina

We have used this collar on our dog since we got her over 1 year ago. Today, while she was playing with another dog, the other dog got her jaw stuck in it. Without a release latch on it, our dog was chocking. We almost lost her before. Make sure you do not use this collar when dogs are playing. I purchased this product on my brother's recommendation. I have 10 dogs and 14 guineas and only one of the dogs would kill our fowl. My brother had used collars on his dogs with problem behavior and they are now great dogs. I was a little hesitant to use it because I'm not a electric stimulus collar user. It worked great. I bought this collar because we have 3 small dogs with varying issues mostly barking that one starts and it triggers the other two and drives us crazy lol. I started with one dog it took a day and maybe 4 corrections and practically instant results. Second dog had the worst issues especially maniacal barking on walks at other dogs and people. It was almost instantaneous with him and it's abit of a shock(no pun intended) how fast it worked to help. Was hesitant to get this b/c I wasn't sure it was humane. After talking to my vet, I felt comfortable making the purchase. IMMEDIATELY, my wonderful, yet poorly socialized Mini Schnauzer changed his ways. It only took a few zaps, and now he responds to tone only. I would NOT walk him b/c he would go spastic when we met other people and/or dogs — now, although he is still interested in them, I can hit the tone and he just keeps walking. Also, his barking in the backyard has improved tremendously. I send him out, and if he starts barking excessively, I hit the tone button and it stops. I now have no fear about taking him out in "public." Some worry that it makes them more aggressive, etc., but I will tell you he is still the same playful, lovable dog. It truly saved us from having animal control show up on our doorstep!! You will wince at the price, but after one day you will realize it was a bargain — best money you ever spent.Xandi

This is my third one of these collars. I have tried other brands as well as more expensive collars made by pet safe and continue to find this is simply the best collar for my needs. We have a St Bernard and he is very self willed but he respects and responds well to the collar. He likes a good swim to the summer and I find this collar is not exactly water proof that is why we are on our third one also the first two we bought were second hand. That being said we just take the collar off after a swim remove the batteries and let it dry out and we are good to go again.downhome-45

This collar did not work that well for my needs, however a dog owner w a different breed, say a small or med dog w a short coat, probably be perfect. I have 2 100lb German shepherds w winter coats still shedding. Not easy for diodes to connect. Once connected, it works. Also takes time and effort training no matter what.ncpc45

I have owned this system for a yr and run 3 collars on it. At first it worked great 4 months in a collar stopped working it would show red light like charging but would never come on so i purchased another one 130 bucks (wow) with in weeks same thing to my other one called tech support this time they walked me theough how to turn it on (at this point i laughed at the begining of the call i stated i have had the system a year) they told me it must be broke and buy a new one. Well broke to me is nothing working but i have red light on charging and stays red for hours 8 to be exact on both of them so this is trash and do not expect help from tech support. I'm very grateful and very happy about this, since it is a very nice collar and easy to use. Here's hoping the failure of the first one was a fluke! I probably will ultimately get another one for one of the other dogs (we have 3!) once we use up all of the batteries we have. While I'm only giving three stars for the collar due to the short lifespan, I would definitely rate service at 5 stars!DigitMom

i was advised by a police dog trainer to purchase these training collars i have two new puppies a beagle and a dalmation ( both breeds known for there selective hearing) they work perfectly they are acting like well behaved adult dogs already after a weeks use the range is as it says and i have yet to use the shocker as the vibration mode works so well if you are thinking of buying these i would highly recommend that you doscotcheggbobbi
