This took my husband and I about a couple of evenings to install. You bury the lead wire around the perimeter you don't want your fur baby to cross and the collar is light and works nicely! I have a jack Russel/Chihuahua that likes to snoop and sneak out of the yard and this little device has solved that problem. I only needed to use the tone mode and that worked fabulously. I bought an additional collar for my blue heeler. She is a bit more strong willed and faster, so static mode worked for her. I'm thankful for this! I installed this fence for my dog on a town lot that was around .25 acres. I must say you should definitely read the instructions fully before just starting this installation as you have to do some prep work, and this is not simply a plug and play fence if you want to trench it in. I think if there was an existing fence or something you could probably get away with just hanging the boundary wires directly to it but chances are that is not the case always. In my case I used a spade to kinda make the trench on my laid-out boundary line. I did this after a heavy rain as that made the task by hand much easier than the ground being rock hard like it is when it is dry. I stepped on the ground with my body weight after the installing the wire to kind of tamp the ground back in place and let mother nature do the rest over time to get the ground to settle. I did have to cross my driveway and really just shoved the wire in the expansion joint and shoved it down as far as I could. I just have to be conscience that I do not pierce the wiring when doing my edging. For my lot it took quite a bit of the 500 feet of included wire even though I consider it to be a pretty small lot. My dog has used wireless electric collars before so the training was not so difficult, but I did put out the included flags on the boundary line during training to make sure the boundary training went smoothly. The collar fit my dog nicely. As far as hooking up the boundary lines to the transmitter it was easy. I installed the plug-in wall unit in my garage and actually drilled a hole through a brick wall to get the boundary wire outside. I used caulk to seal off the hole with the wire to protect the weather and critters getting into my garage through the access hole. As I mentioned that since I have used wireless systems with my dog before the training was minimal and the system is working nicely.Country Man
We do not have a fence in our backyard and have to constantly leave our Poodle on a 30 foot leash when she runs around backyard. But I hate that she is even on a leash and can't run and live free. This fence is a perfect solution since we can not afford to install a proper yard fence. We set up the boundaries and it was easy to follow directions. I have a pup that is a large breed, he looks like I been feeding him steak and potatoes cause he's so dang big. He is ALL puppy though. I have a 2 yr old LARGE French Mastiff that weighs 180ish! I bought with the (red in color) “stubborn” collar. We previously installed a wired underground fence. (Which I have to mention took 2 FULL DAYS TO INSTALL AND READY TO USE!!) My Bo would realize he was close to the boundary, take a step or two back then take a run right through it, with no second thought!!! We watched him do this several times. I guess he was thinking, well this is going to hurt but only for a few short seconds. Idk?? But it did NOT phase him one bit! I had talked to 4 or 5 people that had this system, so reluctantly I decided to give it a try. I thought to myself well if it doesn’t work I will simply return it, no harm no foul. My boyfriend had it installed and collar on Bo in 30 mins flat. We walked ole hard-headed Bo around maybe 4 times to show him the boundaries. Once he heard the beeping, he kept walking then he felt the shock 1 time and that must have been enough because he never ventured close again! It has been about 2 months of use and I would give it 100 STARS IF IT WAS AN OPTION! We live in a subdivision where houses are fairly close. I was ultimately worried that the zone would lead into the neighboring yard. (which was the #1 thing we are trying to prevent) And although it may, Bo doesn’t even attempt to go that far. I believe he now understands to stay in his own yard! Living in a subdivision, many people take walks and Bo just sits and watches them now!! Matter of fact, just to see, we have sent him outside WITHOUT the collar and ironically enough HE STAYS IN OUR YARD!! The ONLY complaint I have is the small clear piece on the collar broke off the first time I went to adjust the strength of the shock. So far it hasn’t effected anything so fingers crossed on that! Just an FYI, we set ours on a level 3 to begin with and my boyfriend was ready to give up, so I told him to have some patience and we just kept adjusting the level on the collar and we ended up discovering for Bo he needed to be set on a #6. Again, I repeat he weighs 180 lbs, and the Mastiff bread is KNOWN for their stubbornness. I would suggest starting at the lowest level for a smaller dog PLEASE! I love everything about this dog pen, except that one of the panels was missing the upper hinge. I did not want the hassle and wastefulness of returning the entire large and heavy item. I tried to see if I could just get a single replacement panel, but I don't know how to do that. I guess I will just keep it and only use 7 of the panels *Sigh* (If anyone can get a single panel replacement – please let me know!) The raised gate is perfect for not rubbing on the floor and scratching it up. the panels are not too heavy I could construct the pen easily. I love that there are different shapes that you can make with the panels, depending on your space available. My front yard is not completely fenced; There was a need to fence off, but not permanently as we use front yard for other purposes. Fences are flexible, can be set up in any figures as needed. Once I figure out where to put fences, it takes 10 mins to set up, 10 mins to take down. I initially bought 2 sets, and neighbors and friends praised, and we had so many puppy visitors. That led me to buy 1 more set so the playpen could be bigger. Despite I have 3x sets, once taken down, they store nicely in small tight space on the side of house. Each set comes with 1 panel with a door. Since I have 3x sets, I have 3x panels with door. I set up door fences on three sides of yard for convenience. Summer days, we had playpen every evening. Throughout year, we hosted playpen for every possible occasions; puppy birthday, anniversary, holidays, new puppy debut… We initially worried that some dogs might jump out and run away, but that never happened. Dogs are capable, but wanted to stay inside for fun. We actually had dogs jump in. If you need to just hold puppies around 1 – 3 months, you could buy 1 set. But, if you are planning any meaningful puppy playdate, you will need minimum 2 sets, most likely 3or 4. I love everything about this dog pen, except that one of the panels was missing the upper hinge. I did not want the hassle and wastefulness of returning the entire large and heavy item. I tried to see if I could just get a single replacement panel, but I don't know how to do that. I guess I will just keep it and only use 7 of the panels *Sigh* (If anyone can get a single panel replacement – please let me know!) The raised gate is perfect for not rubbing on the floor and scratching it up. the panels are not too heavy I could construct the pen easily. I love that there are different shapes that you can make with the panels, depending on your space available. The height and sturdiness of the panels is just right for a medium to medium large dog.Barbara
If I could give zero stars I would. It has rusted so badly HUGE FLAKES fall off of it. Not only is it now unattractive I worry about the health of my dog. The rust is merely from getting wet from his water bowl and a squirt bottle. I’ve had this LESS by THAN 90 days and they are telling me they will not do anything about it because it’s past the 90 day return window! IT IS NOT. Both Walmart and 3rd party seller are refusing ANY helps. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.Maddie

That led me to buy 1 more set so the playpen could be bigger. Despite I have 3x sets, once taken down, they store nicely in small tight space on the side of house. Each set comes with 1 panel with a door. Since I have 3x sets, I have 3x panels with door. I set up door fences on three sides of yard for convenience. Summer days, we had playpen every evening. Throughout year, we hosted playpen for every possible occasions; puppy birthday, anniversary, holidays, new puppy debut… We initially worried that some dogs might jump out and run away, but that never happened. Dogs are capable, but wanted to stay inside for fun. We actually had dogs jump in. If you need to just hold puppies around 1 – 3 months, you could buy 1 set. But, if you are planning any meaningful puppy playdate, you will need minimum 2 sets, most likely 3or 4.
