we have a terrier that loves to chew and has taken apart 2 kongs already. I purchased this when looking for something a little stronger. I've to admit this is a great deal harder then what I expected which made me a little nervous about her teeth. However, I let her use it and it is perfect for her. Both are hearty chewers, and it took over a year for the two of them together to wear down the last wishbone we bought.This time around I bought two wishbones, one each for our French bulldog and Australian cattle dog. I ordered a regular size and a "wolf" size. The regular would be much mort suitable for a small dog (Chihuahua, dachsund) but not our beefy bulldog. The wolf version suits her better and is too small for our cattle dog. We were trying to find the perfect size teething toys for Louis and this was one of the few options available. It’s also chicken flavoured but he doesn’t seem to like it as much as the wishbone. My sister bought 3 of these for my dogs in Dec.2018. One dog set to work on it and broke it quickly, so we put them away. We put them back put after his passing, and the other 2 ignored them…until we got a new dog this past October. That dog immediately picked one up, and of course these are now their favorites. We have a 4th big dog now. They chew abd chew, but no further breakage, just wearing them down as you can see in the photo, compared with a new one. I've not seen any loose pieces, and no bleeding gums.BugLady

He loves the Good Lovin' doughnut-shaped rawhide bones, he loves to carry them around and throw them around and play "keep away" with them, and he chews every "tough" treat/bone I've given him SUPER fast (a few hours – 1 day), so I thought this circle-shaped Nylabone "Dura Chew" Ring treat/toy would be perfect for him, but he doesn't engage with it much. He's had it about 1 month; he'll pick it up about once a week and carry it to another part of the yard, but he doesn't chew on it or "play" with it the way he does with his other heavy-chew treats. My only guess is that it's TOO tough for him? Could it be!? I'm sure the older and stronger he gets, the greater the possibility that he'll start chewing on this treat/toy.katielovelyy
I have purchased several Nylabone products since we adopted our fur baby from a shelter. Being a Labrabull he's definitely a power chewer so just any ole chew won't last. Up until now he has loved every Nylabone I have bought for him (the wishbone is his absolute favorite!). So I was very surprised that he doesn't like this one. When we went back to an employee they said the item number was the same so there was no way to differentiate between the one shown online that we thought we were buying and the plain one we were given. I wish I could tell you why, but, this bone has been through five dogs (my personal dog, and four service dogs in training I fostered) over the last four years, and not a single one of them has liked this bone. I’m not sure if it’s the flavor, or what. But it was not the cheapest Nylabone, either, so it’s a bit disappointing that none of them had any interest in it. I always thought maybe the next dog would like it, and they don’t. It has a bit of chewing done on it, but not nearly as much as the other ones. I think it may be hard for them to get into a good position to chew on it, since it’s a circle? I don’t think I’ll ever have to think about buying another one, because I don’t think it’ll be gone in my lifetime!jess.a

My dogs are heavy chewers and will chew on anything…literally. They enjoy chewing on these but do prefer some other products I’ve bought. I don’t buy these too often but when I see them for a good deal I pick them up. Good news is that they last a good while. Drawback is that don’t have these around kids or anyone with bleeding disorders or elderly people. They toys can become quite jagged and when my dogs run by with them in their mouth we have had a few instances of people getting cut.sarah.b
I have two German Shepherds. One is a little easier on her toys but the younger one is definitely a power chewer. Because of this Nylabone is a staple in our house. At any given time you’ll fine no less than four in various states of “chewed”. I bought one of these with the rubber in the middle thinking it would brush their teeth a little more but ended up taking it away because pieces of the rubbery part were coming off way too easily and I was afraid they’d swallow one. Nylabones wear down gradually but the softer “dental” portion of this one just wasn’t holding up. I’d recommend for someone who has a less aggressive chewer but if your dog is as relentless as mine stick to the solid material super chewer version.samantha.e
One of our Golden Retriever’s favourite toys. He’s a big dog and chews on these bones a lot, but they last for ages and don’t flake off dangerous pieces like other bones do. He can spend hours chewing it and it’s nice knowing it’s doing his teeth good. He’s an old man now, but he’s had very few problems with his teeth, which I think these bones have helped withjenny.c

I've been buying Nylabones for every single one of my dogs for over a decade now, because they are the only toys that last longer than a week! I have an AmStaff, a Pittie, a Chihuahua, and a Chi-Pin and all 4 of them have the same veracious chewing habits. My small dogs strangely prefer all of the larger Nylabone models meant for bigger dogs over the teeny tiny ones meant for them, lol..don't ask me why, but they do! With daily usage from all 4 of my dogs, they tend to last anywhere from 9-12 months, until the big dogs whittle them down to what I call "shanks" (they tend to get a bit pointy/jagged on whatever end has been chewed on more)..and then once they become too small & unsafe for the big dogs, I just remove them and give them to the little dogs in another part of the house [away from the big dogs], and they continue enjoying these "nubs" for another 9-24 months. That being said, these "nubs" don't get chewed on daily by the small dogs since they prefer the largest/most intact Nylabones in the house lol. I've tried soooo many other brands of toys from multiple pet stores/other big box retail chains over the years, but these are the only consistent and affordable chew toys I've been able to find over the years..not to mention, all of my dogs LOVE them! The only other toy my dogs have not managed to destroy is their original Kongs, but literally, everything else typically gets destroyed within just a few short minutes-just a few days. For those worried about the dogs chewing off little pieces, that's kind of the point of these bones….why do you think most of them are flavored, lol..?? It's made of nontoxic ingredients that are safe and easily digestible, so I wouldn't worry about that. In my 14+ year tenure of owning dogs (esp. ones that are hardcore chewers w/ super strong jaws), NEVER have any of my dogs, no matter their size/breed, ever had any issues w/ digesting these bones..so fear not, fellow canine lovers! 🙂 Highly recommend ANY of the DuraChew Nylabones, esp. for dogs who are super orally fixated/hardcore chewers!!tboytrey
My boy loves this chew toy! I love this chew toy! They last a really long time, (at least for him) and they hold up really well to all of his shenanigans with it. In the 13 years I've had my dog I've only had to buy 3 of these, and one was bought only because he dropped it into a river while on a boat. It goes everywhere with him. I have tried all sorts of Kongs, smaller nylabones, soccer and rubber balls that my two dogs can't even get their mouths around, and they still find a way to destroy their toys. Anyone who has a power chewer knows that some dogs will chew with the front teeth to find a spot to tear open. Though this particular nylabone is large and expensive, it has held up to both my dogs' chewing for three months now. So far, they haven't chewed either end down, though it can get rough on the edges. No toy is permanent, but if you are looking for a toy that will last, this is one. I've seen reviews where people could not get their dogs to bother with this toy and thus rated them low because they spent the money on them. All I can say is that is not the manufacturer's fault. Some dogs just do not like certain chew toys. These nylabones are blocky and heavy and probably not meant for a small dog or one who doesn't like the weight to carry around. The product description states that it has a chicken flavor. One thing I will point out is that if it does, it does not have an odor that I can smell, unlike many other toys that have flavors infused in them. I'm sure that's a tactic to appeal to the dog more but for mine it doesn't make a difference. I'm just glad I can't smell it.' This was definitely a favorite for my puppy! I got her at 2 months old, and she played with it constantly! She would chew on it and grumble and growl. It definitely helped her teething pain. However, be sure to take it away once they get their adult teeth all the way in! I made the mistake of letting her chew on it until she was about a year old, and she nearly ate the entire thing, ripping it up in large pieces. She is, however, a super powerful chewer. This bone SEEMS like other cheap brands we’ve used that eventually are chewed to a sharpened point and thrown out within a few months. However, it has survived nearly 8 months with us. The plastic has bite marks and some signs of damage but otherwise still useable and chewable for the dogs.lindsey.n
