Works well, has a few issues but nothing really bad. The bowl holds water good and doesn't splash around even in a off road trail. The lid has a large o ring that seals up tight, sometimes to tight by that I mean it cant get air in tank to let the water rise into drinking area. So sometimes you have to burp it to get water in bowl, could use a air inlet to correct that. I like the probability of it. The blue lid broke a piece out of it, just the edge, so now I have a air inlet for.this one. Seems to still work fine maybe even better but will leak if tilted, where it doesn't leak with normal seal ring. I like it over all and purchased a second one.daveo7777

I wouldn't recommend it for a large breed, my brother's mastiff had a little bit of a hard time drinking from it. My other brother's labrador didn't have any trouble though and as I said my 3 small dogs( 10-14lbs.) Had no trouble either. I don't even accidentally spill the water bowl anymore either! No more wet socks for me and no more water mess to clean up after I get home. A potty pad under a water bowl only does so much, but this bowl truly is no spill! This bowl is a very innovative design and I am pleased with my purchase. The bowl prevents splashes and spills, even while my car is in motion. That said, it is still JUST a stainless steel bowl and I feel the price is very excessive and should be adjusted downward. It may seem insignificant when purchased as an add on with the kennel but it is a large amount of money for a small stainless bowl.Margaret S.

These inexpensive bowls are great for keeping water available for the dogs in the car, on the boat and in the trailer. There are more expensive items out there that do the exact same thing but it is just a water bowl with a special lid. I bought 3 of them to replace my old ones. The lids are brittle when cold and will break if you try to pop them off while cold so be sure and and warm them up before trying to take the top off or but them on.Azk9
Bought this to replace another one I had for eight years. The white top finally broke. These bowls are excellent, have used them for years. Good for travelling in your vehicle. Won't spill water, assuming it isn't filled too much. Can also be used for dry dog food if you remove the white top. Highly recommended.chasdb2
Great bowl but difficult to remove cover. I bought this to replace another identical bowl that I lost, except the white “lid” portion of this one is very difficult to remove. The previous version did a great job at keeping water from spilling, as this one does, even while being used while traveling in my car, but the older version was much easier to clean because of ease of lid removal.Helen

I was very excited about this bowl and wanted to love it. After all, the idea of having a threaded lid on a collapsible dog bowl is simple, yet genius for all the times that the pooch leaves food or water behind. The good: the leakproof top is great and it's secure when closed. The bad: I should have paid more attention to the size and weight. This thing is large even when it's collapsed and it's heavy. When extended, it's way taller than necessary for a dog bowl (my lanky 30 lb dog can't reach the bottom without collapsing the bowl with her face), which means that I won't ever use that extra space… so for all intensive functional purposes, I just bought a bowl that is heavy, doesn't collapse, and has all kinds of awkward folds, nooks, and crannies that will be hard to clean out. The notched base to fit the top when in use helps to not misplace the top, except when the dog is done, the threading in the top will have gathered dirt and crud , which will then be dumped into the bowl when you close it. Not only will I not use this for hiking/backpacking (the original goal), I won't carry it around town either because it's so heavy, large, and awkward. Given how much I paid, flat rate shipping for returns simply isn't worth it; so I'll keep this, and hopefully with time I'll learn to like it or find another use for it. I am an over the road truck driver with two dogs that travel over a quarter of a million miles a year with me. I've used this bowl daily for four years. I am on my second one, not because the first wore out, but because we left it at a hotel (eek!). I read the other review and I can say this: Don't over fill it. There's a fill line on the bottom part to guide you. To me, this seems like common sense since you are in a moving vehicle. Don't put the O-ring in the dishwasher. Like any other seal, the high heat will eventually force it to crack. It removes easily. It's hard to clean the inside without using a bottle brush, so here's what I do: I give it a soak with HOT water and a tablespoon of bleach, dump it out, scrub it with a brush and throw it in the dishwasher (top rack, without the O-ring). Comes out squeaky clean. As far as the dog "waiting for it to fill back up", it's simply not true. The water that's forced up through the drinking opening may not allow them to gulp the water down like a regular bowl, but they get as much as they please in smaller swallows. OK, so I'm no speed racer on the highway, IMHO speed should have nothing to do with it if you follow the fill guidelines and securely seat and screw on the top. This thing has held up to daily use and abuse like a champ. I highly recommend it. The only reason it got four stars was for the cleaning.Little Miss Elvee

Ever since I saw a guy with one of these at an Interstate 5 rest stop, I said "I gotta have one of those". So I got one, and now have another 5 years later. My two dogs flat wore out the blue "bowl". This is my only knock, I was surprised at that. It's plastic and I guess thousands of licks can do it in. The reservoir is tough, and has withstood many drops. I contacted manufacturer for a replacement bowl only, but it's not available for any less than the entire rig. I did buy another, so I guess I put my money where my keyboard is.onedotlow
