I would really love to give this toy 5 stars for appearance and design but I’m taking off one for durability. Normally I stay away from anything that’s not a bone or hard rubber like a traditional KONG because my dogs are super chewers. They can destroy a Nylabone in 30 minutes. I bought this toy because KONG is notorious for their super durable products. My 60 pound Pitbull is bonkers over the Kong Squeeze Stick. It satisfies his need to chew on something and it’s very strong. The fact that it squeaks makes it all the more appealing for him since he loves making toys squeak himself. My puppy was excited to get this toy and almost not settle down from excitement. After we got her Calmed down some and gave her the toy she was running around the apartment with the toy for a good 5 – 10 minutes playing with it. She was having a ball with it! She would throw it as us to get us to play with her. She would also carry it in her mouth around the apartment and us showing off her new toy. So far this toy is holding up really well. She hasn't chewed a hole in it. So we have no stuffing scattered around the house. She loves toys that she can grab and shake and the flop all around. This is perfect for that. She grabs a leg and runs around the house trying to shake it to death. The only thing I've noticed is that she has pulled out a little bit of the mane or tail hairs, but other then that it is holding up great to her trying to shake it to death. This kong bone/rope toy is great for playing tug-of-war with my 2yo Bullypit. The bone fits perfectly in his mouth while I hold the rope. You can also slide the bone to one side and play that way instead. I think this toy would be a lot better if the rope were longer. I do not think the packaging is the greatest it does not say what it is made of and after some googling I am not sure how safe the ingredients are for dogs but its made in USA and my dog has had no issues from it. I think these are better for dogs compared to Nylabone. My dog a cocker spaniel has bad anxiety and is a constant chewer only 2 years old. The size small is pretty decently sized. An they past pretty long too. I always buy about 4 that way they arent chewing on the same one and no matter the room shes in theres always a bone close to be found instead of something shes not suppose to have.Kris
My dog loves wood-tasting chew bones. These contain wood and are enticing and keeps the dog entertained. They don't wear down quickly. They're not as hard/tough on dog's teeth as antler bones. They don't splinter like some bones and don't come apart like rawhide. My dog chews only tiny pieces at a time; she basically gnaws on it rather than chews. She can take a rawhide apart in a few minutes, but these wood bones last a long time since she only gnaws on them. I like that they come in several sizes. The XS or S may be too small for small breeds, but my 9-lb. minpin chews the S or M size ones on her own. I hold the XS for her to chew once the size gets too small and safety might become an issue.Cici

I am surprised at the negative reviews so I decided to share my experience. Maybe it depends on the breed and/or size of the dog. Our 20 lb Dachshund who doesn't like any toys LOVES this. This particular chew toy covers a variety of aspects when it comes to your dog and their chewing behaviors and dental health. We have a Rottweiler that – like most dogs – thinks with their stomach a lot of the time and you can pack each end of this particular toy full of biscuits and then let your dog figure out how to get them. The little rubber nubs all over each end get up between their teeth and keep her teeth clean without us having to really do anything by way of human interaction/brushing her teeth. Our Rottie is 5 1/2 years old and has never NEEDED to have her teeth cleaned due to her obsessive want/need to have this toy filled with biscuits so that she can work on getting them out. Twice a day we fill each end up for her (which is not two handfuls of biscuits, ends up being a couple of them in each end)…she brings it to us right after she eats her breakfast and right after her late afternoon dinner. She BRINGS IT TO US literally pleading for us to fill it up so that she can go chew and gnaw away on it. They only last about 3-4 months but the amount of money we have NOT had to spend on dental cleanings every year or two is well worth the $25-$30 a year we spend on these toys. Her breath has been great ever since she was a puppy and we attribute it to her twice daily routine of chewing on this toy. The toy alone is not enough to entice any dog to want to chew on it…but filling each end with the hard biscuits is and most dogs will do whatever it takes to get them out. We give this one 5 stars. Purchased a couple of these for my dog who loves his monkey toys. Very disappointed when they arrived as I was expecting quiet a long leggy monkey as they are supposed to be 22 long. They are actually only 18 long (see photo). I was also disappointed with the quality of the monkey. The monkey has padded feet in the listing but the two monkeys that I purchased have no padding and the squeakers are just loose within the foot. These squeakers arent going to last very long as they only have a thin bit of material covering them with no padding to protect them. The whole monkey looks inferior to the one shown in the listing. But it’s also very soft rubber. With that said, my little female boxer and Aussie puppy are super interested in it. Welp…as I’m writing this, the puppy chewed it up. It didn’t last more than 5 minutes or so. Fastest unboxing to trash can item ever. No wonder it was so cheap. This is one of the first toys my husband and I bought our dog when we rescued him 3 years ago and it's still his favorite by a long shot…even more than the bone! He knows its smell in the grocery bag as soon as we walk in the door and will steal it out of the bag if we're not paying close enough attention. He's a black lab/pitt mix, so the squeaker is usually broken by the 2nd day and it only lasts about a week or 2 depending on if we take it away periodically or let him keep it. We obviously don't get it for its durability or longevity with our dog (although it does last longer than was expected the first time we got it), but for a smaller dog it would probably last awhile. We especially love the low-pitched squeak/honk noise it makes. It's a LOT more tolerable than your typical squeaker toy, and I wish more companies that made dog toys would hop on this band wagon.mikki
I have an older silver lab who is getting up there in years, and doesn't seem to gravitate towards toys like he used to. That is, unless it is a grunting hedgehog. I don't know what it is about the hedgehog itself (trust me he knows if its not) but any time he sees a hedgehog he will run towards it and immediately start squeaking it. If its just a normal squeak, he tosses it aside and goes about his business. If its a grunting hedgehog, well, that's another story! It's like he turns into Benjamin Button and turns back into a young pup! He runs around the house, out into the yard, flips it into the air and plays with it until it is completely decimated. If one of our other dogs goes near him or the hedgehog, he will show them who is boss and make sure they back off. I love seeing him have so much fun playing again and will keep buying this for him until he is no longer around to enjoy it.EmilyW
My fur babies love these hedgehogs. Overall they are a good buy. I always keep a couple extra on hand as they are the pups favorite toy. Chew level is rated 2. I must admit my two pups can destroy one — they both want the same one and fight over it. Before I became owner of a second dog the hedgehog survived a lot longer. This toy is great for small dogs. We have an Alaskan Husky (now 11 mos old) who is a serious chewer! So far we have ordered Hurley, Rumpus, Tux, and Qwizl and they have proved to be indestructible! YAY!
