I receive the item and the box was in good condition. Upon opening the item there were 8 pieces. 4 walls, the top and 3 pieces that make up the floor. 3 of the 4 walls were split by screws that were inserted on the pre-fabricated panels. I took pieces and sent them to customer service. I believe this was done before being boxed up to ship. Although I was offered a discount for the damaged item I don't believe it would last as the floor did not attach but rested on the ledge of the sides. When my dog stepped into the dog house the first time 1 of the 3 pieces that make up the floor flipped up. It is nice looking but the wood is very cheap. I would not recommend buying.Unhappy Customer

I expected better of this outdoor doghouse, especially for the price. It is made of "fir wood" which isn't a hardwood at all. Pine would have been sturdier. Assembly was easy but the house itself flimsy, with several of the pre-fab section not even nailed or glued together, and some pieces with parts of the wood broken off. Even in the "giant" size it was barely large enough for a 90lb GSD. The feet were plastic and the floor slated wood were the elements can creep through. This house is advertised as ideal for outdoor use – but I wouldn't trust it during a New England winter. It was sent back immediately. I would NOT recommend this manufacturer for outdoor dog houses. For less money you could build a better one out of more durable wood.Razor

I just opened my Small size Precision Pet Extreme Log Cabin doghouse today to assemble. It looks like it will assemble pretty well, although one of the sides is 3/16" out of square. Because the panels are firmly glued and screwed together it will require some adjustment/trimming to assemble correctly instead of attempting to break the glue joints and true it up. Obviously a rush job by the factory in Wuhan. The roof shingles do appear to be very well sealed and bonded together, however there are a few spots on the edges of the composition shingles on the roof where bare wood can be seen at the edges, which would allow water to get into the roof frame, so those spots will have to be sealed. The three piece floor has 1/8" gaps between the slats, so if you want the animal occupying the box to be comfortable when it is cold and windy, you will have to do some modification to the floor, which I plan on doing. The statement that the box is waterproof and weather resistant is a stretch. The stain/preservative used on all of the wood surface is so thin that pouring any water at all on the wood surface disappears as the wood instantly absorbs it. I will not put the box in service until at least 2 coats of a high quality exterior grade paint/stain is applied. If you try and use this box without putting a proper preservative coat on it, you might get one year of use out of it before it rots or suffers UV damage and cracks and splits. This doghouse is being re-purposed by me to be a Barn Owl nest box; the dimensions are almost perfect and as soon as I saw it I realized that it could be used for quick installation during the brief annual window between December to January during which Barn Owls are NOT in their box. All I really have to do is put an insert into the door to reduce the opening size, add a perch/balcony outside the opening, fix the floor, and of course, properly seal the wood so that it will last more than one season. My primary reason for paying the extra money for the "EXTREME" model was the feature description that said: Its stainless steel hardware also adds to its sturdiness. THIS IS A LIE! THE HARDWARE SUPPLIED IS NOT STAINLESS STEEL, so this is my major gripe. My guess is that China figures that most Americans can't tell the difference between stainless and non-stainless steel. I'm a retired engineer, and you can almost always identify stainless/non-stainless steel by its color and appearance, although the surefire test is with a magnet. Regular steel will be strongly attracted by a magnet, if it is stainless steel, you might get a very slight attraction. This stuff is definitely normal steel with maybe a thin coat of zinc – not stainless steel. I just got this dog house and paid somebody to put it together. Only to find out that it is not extra large. I would consider it medium size. Won’t even fit my lab mix. The flooring and it is also raised and does not feel super sturdy. I would say this house in the size ‘extra large’ is for a 45 pounds and under dog. Will be returning. Very cute though.Aspensdogmom

We were looking for a dog house for our 75 lb German Shepherd & we wanted one he would continue to grow into. This fit the bill. Product arrived quickly and un damaged. Set up was painless and easy. Opening is big enough for him & plenty of room to plop down inside. In less than a year he did break one of the roof attachment rails. Working with New Age Pet wasn't a bad experience and the replacement parts arrived quickly enough. I wish the roof attachment rails were not plastic & were metal to withstand a bit more doggy & wind abuse. But other than that no complaints.CaptainCaveman78

I was looking for a dog house for my two dogs (one 50 lbs the other 60 lbs) to share. I am very happy with this dog house. It's not made out of flimsy wood like a lot of the other houses I looked at. The corrugated ecoflex material is very sturdy and this house is very simple to put together. Each piece is numbered and laying the pieces out in ascending order makes putting this house together a breeze. My dogs fit just fine inside the house and they'll be able to keep each other warm this winter. They are medium sized dogs so they're not very tall, if this house were to be purchased for a large breed the buyer MAY find this house to be too short. ex. A great dane would NOT be able to stand up and turn around in it. I've only had his house for a few weeks so I can not comment on the longevity of this product. The only downfall I've noticed so far is that it does get a little wet on the inside when it rains, I believe they make a plastic flap that can go over the door to help eliminate this problem, I just haven't looked into it yet. I love how you get to write your doll's pet's name on the calk part, which makes it very realist compared to a real doghouse. The food and water bowl part is really cute and I love how it comes with a collar, in case you loose a collar for the pet. I love the balls and chew toys and most of all the dog bone, which is really cute and very realistic, once again.The rope toy is cute, too. I also like the bed a lot, though small, I love how colorful it is. I love the house itself, even though it's pretty small for all the things that the set comes with. From the time we opened this until bed time, my daughter didn’t stop playing with this. She even took it outside with her to play with. It was fun for her to use this with her dogs, and other little animal toys she had. Some pieces are on the smaller side so keep this in mind when buying for younger kids! This dog house is much larger than I thought and for the price totally worth it! OG has added some great thoughtful accessories to this dog house; including the newspaper. I like that you can open the one flap for easier play. This is very helpful for children with younger siblings that want to join in on the play. They can easily access the puppies being placed inside and enjoy the fun. Be careful with younger children as many of the puppy items are small and could be a choking hazard for the hand to mouth little ones. So even though I had the dimensions it was still WAY smaller than I thought it would be. I'm not sure what I expected. The actual dog house is a very good size for my 14 (a little overweight) Dachshund. It was hard for him to get up the stairs, I don't know if that's his weird body, short legs and long torso or it's just oddly small. I also changed the stairs from the direction its in to the a straight direction off the top. there was no way he was getting down the way they have it set up, makes no sense! it is beautifully made and I think It's a great house. Very easy to put together. I love it, I just hope my dog gets used to those stairs. time will tell.shellmell

This was super easy to put together and follow the directions; although I am a very handy person. I love it, it looks great on my patio for my little puppy and gives him a nice spot to rest and hide out in the shade. On warmer days, it did not feel hot inside, HOWEVER, I live in a place with very moderate temperatures (72 with a breeze most days). So in a warner climate you may want to purchase one of their dog house fans available on this site!!! As I hope you can see in the photo, my little guy enjoys his space! Side note: as far as the other reviews about the stairs being flimsy… I disagree. As long as you screw in all three screws for the stairs and don't attempt to drag this across and yard or surface, the stairs are very sturdy. I have a 16 year old cat that decided to live outside on our patio earlier this year. I have no idea why. She refuses to come in and when I force her to come in she poops on my shoes (ugh). I live in Southern California so it's not real cold but nights in orange county can get pretty chilly. I have bought her 3 little houses/beds and she refuses to go inside them. This was my last attempt/purchase. It was easy to put together by myself. I did not assemble the "upper deck portion or stairs". I did not screw in the roof either, this works perfectly for me. I can lift the roof off & on for easy access. It's quite snug and fitted when in place but easily lifts off. She's too old to use the stairs and would never use the deck portion. I have it on my patio in a corner under the overhang. She LOVES it!! I put her blanket inside with her pet heating pad (Amazon 19.99) under her blanket and she is in heaven. I lift off the roof every couple days to shake out her blanket and check her heating pad and she's always curled up napping. I am thrilled and now sleep knowing she's warm, comfortable and dry. The whole set is quite smaller than it appears, yet pieces are large enough for child to manipulate without being a choking hazard. My granddaughter loves her puppies!Gary

Crappiest tent I have ever owned… The flimsy design, cheap plastic poles (one of which already broke & this was literally the first time we set it up), and lack of instructions on set up/take down make this a COMPLETE waste of your $40. Really happy about my purchase, dog house looks really nice in the white & blueish & my dog loves it. Few pieces were slightly cracked, may have been from shipping, others from the screws being tightened, but not noticeable & overall the house feels pretty durable. Great heavy duty Gate!! Seamless , just pull out of box and set up to the shape you need. Definitely not for any dog bigger than a yorkie or chihuahua , but could be used for puppies. I am using it for my yorkie which had 5 puppies.Jules

I love this. It was so easy to assemble and works great as a temporary chicken coop also. I am currently using it to introduce new chickens to the flock. I most definitely will buy a few more to use after my baby ducks hatch and for my puppies while they are outside.Fluffy Butt Mommy

After I took the cot out of the box, I set it up inside in front of some large windows where I know my dog likes to sun himself. He was not sure what to make of it but I invited him up on it and the rest is history. He know uses it daily. It's plenty big to stretch out on and he acts like he is the king from high on his "perch". I am looking forward to using this outside when it warms up because the elevated bed should keep my dog cooler (with the air flow under it) but meanwhile it is making a nice spot inside the house. I bought this last summer for my senior dog, thinking it would be easier on his joints and also keep him cooler when he was resting on the back porch. It took some muscle, but I was able to put it together as directed without any tools. He didn't use it a lot, but I was pleased to see him on it occasionally, when it was particularly hot or cold outside. But yesterday the plastic piece that connects the side edge to the middle support leg sheared off. So after about 9 months of very light use, it is broken and unfixable. Wondering if we were sold a used unit. Missing 3 of the 4 rubber feet the one was already attached. Video shows they shoukd be in a bag and how to install. All 4 corner top supports were there 2 were in plastic bag that was ripped open previously and other 2 were in bottom of crate. Looks like part of the paint was worn off on the corners were the supports go. One of the sliding doors squeals as you slide it closed. Couldn't return it as we sold our previous crate already. Tried to call the manufacturer as it states do not call store have not heard back after 5 messages to them.Brad63126

The packaging of this item was very good. There is a plastic tray in the bottom of the cage, but it is well protected in the box. I took out the crate and it was all one piece, except for the divider. I laid it on the floor and unlatched the obvious clips that were holding the crate in a flat position. There are instructions that come with this crate, but it was so easy to figure out how to fasten the sides, I did not need them. I did review the instructions after and they are very easy to follow and understand. The crate wiring is very sturdy. I have a 45 lb Springer Spaniel and he has no chance of bending the wiring. The latches will not shake open. They fold over and my dog would have to be a magician to open them. There are two entry points. On large area on the lengthy side. And a slider set of doors on the wide side. Both sides have the same type of latches. The tray is very sturdy plastic and can be cleaned very easily. The crate comes with a divider. It is made of the same wiring material. Very sturdy. I only have one dog, so I won't be using it. But it is easy to install. The weight of the crate is not too bad. It comes with a handle on top, but the width of the crate is a bit large to be carrying around far. It is mainly used for repositioning. You won't pick up the crate with your pet inside. But it makes it easy for lifting into my van without my dog inside. I cannot think of any really bad things about this crate. It is a very quality item. Very easy to use. Very easy to fold and stow away when not in use. All in one piece. To get my dog used to using it, I put some treats in the crate. He went right in and was checking it out. Springers love to be in a cave, so I put a blanket over the top and he enjoys his privacy 🙂Charlie

I really like my Lucky Dog Sliding Door Dog Crate. I am disabled so I thought I would have to have someone help me assemble it. But the hardest thing about putting it together was getting it out of the box. Once it was out, it literally took me less than a minute and that was without instructions. It was so easy to see what needed to be done: lift one wall, lift the ceiling and the other wall falls into place. One end has a door with three lift and slide type handles. You can use one, two, or all three. And the front has the sliding door which is nice for a larger animal or for putting the bed in, etc. There is a heavy duty plastic bottom so you don’t have to worry about puppy accidents. There are also plastic sleeves to go on four corners on the bottom to keep it from being fully in contact with the floor, so there’s air flow underneath. This would also protect the floor in the case of the crate moving during use. They also included four corner protectors so that you don’t bang into a sharp edge and injure yourself or damage something. Good thinking. And a really nice feature is the wire wall that locks into place if desired, making the crate a haven for 2 animals or a smaller space for a smaller dog- for instance a puppy that would be overwhelmed by such a large crate now but would need every inch of it later. No need to buy 2 crates- just insert the divider wall now and remove it when the dog has grown enough to use the space. And if I don’t need to use the crate or I need to store it, it folds flat just as it came. Brilliant! I’m sold on this crate! Only downfall is my dog is exposed to whatever is going on around him so I would have preferred to have had this to begin with. I received my dog cage on schedule and the set up was easy as well, this is a great product for a smaller animal,the next morning my dog( German Shepard ) was at my front door. Very happy with my purchase. Purchased 52" Kennel (just over 4ft tall) -Punctual Shipping, box arrived in tact -Box suggest 2 person to lift (was not bad for a 1 person female) -Instructions were simple, my door/gate swings out opposite from image on the page. Image for assembling the roof part was sub-par, as the image did not zoom out enough to give a visual, but includes a support bar that runs perpendicular to the 2 arches (visualize the letter 'T' when assembling) -Overrall assembly is easy, no tools required/needed (will work harder getting the box open) -2 person useful when moving assembled kennel to permanent location (or do it alone and get some light cardio when going back & forth to each side) -Bought this for a Doberman as I don't presume he'll walk around on 2 legs in the kennel! Lubricant spray for the screws, as this will regularly be exposed to the elements outside.CD

This is a good size dog pen. My biggest complaint is that the wires on the door were not fully secured to the base of the door and my 30 lbs dog was able to pull them away enough when he was testing the wires that he got out. I attempted to contact the manufacture per the instructions that came with the parts, but no one has ever contacted me back. SO I would say this would be great for a lazy dog that does not test cages, and as long as you do not have problems and need to contact the manufacture you should be great. But for $140 I kind of expected the wires to be better secured or have better customer serviceAmy

I’m using this as s duck house for six ducks. Not hard to put together, you’ll need Phillips and pliers or wrench, instructions are not the best. Made of less dense version of pine. Roof is hinged and floor comes out in the parts for clean up. I like it.Redeyenc

The dog house (which is being used for a feral cat), arrived quickly and was pretty easy to assemble. It is sturdy enough for our uses, which included putting a smaller insulated cat container in one side of the house and food/water dishes near the entrance. Having the roof lift makes adjustments and cleaning easy. I'm not sure how well this would work for a larger, energetic dog, but it does for us.NDCat

Very solid and sturdy doghouse for a large German Shepherd. She loves it! I did need someone else to help hold the pieces while I slid things into the proper channels, but it was very easy to put together. Just pay attention to where the floor screws onto the house. The directions did not seem as clear about where the tiny drilled holes actually were, and I tried to attach it through what turned out to be drain holes on the sides! Had to call the toll free number for assistance, and buy four new screws for the correct holes.Brenda

Thin soft plastic plastic, dogs can chew it easily. NO instructions included. Really hard to assemble , keeps falling apart. Nothing to hold it together, if the dog bumps the roof the whole thing falls apart unless you glue it together. If the insulation plug is pulled out by the dog the insulation spills out… it's that HORRIBLE tiny beads of styrofoam. Makes an incredible mess. I have built and bought and owned probably about 40 dog houses, I'm in the dog business. These are horrible. The flap door will just blow open in the wind and is a target for chewing by the dog.Smitty

I just got my dog house all set up and wow! It’s great! While my 50lb border collie is a little hesitant of it, I think he will grow accustomed to it! Assembly was not too hard and only took about an hour and a half, I liked the slide and lock mechanics of connecting the walls. The divider wall, heater mount, and hydraulic lid are great features. It is a pretty large dog house but I have a large dog so it is needed, it gives him room to turn around and lay down however he likes. Thanks lifetime!Jordo

This dog house is actually big enough to fit both of our dogs. It took about an hour and 15 minutes for my husband to put it together. The item is super sturdy but light enough that he could carry it and reposition it without any help. The top locks down and easily opens up for us to be able to put their bed in. I love the fact that there is a place to put a space heater for the times they need to stay out for a bit. We’ve had a doghouse before and it just didn’t hold up well after being out in the weather. Lifetime makes such great products that hold up season after season and I know this will be great just like our deck box.Cj C

This dog house was sent to me by Lifetime products to review and I have nothing but good things to say. This dog house is extremely nice quality and over all easy to build. I absolutely love that the roof is an easy to open lid that can be used when you're cleaning it out or needing to check inside. It's big enough to fit my 35 lb dog's bed in there and still have room for other things. The middle panel is removable which I absolutely love. Though I believe I could've built this on my own, having another person helped the building process even easier. Some of the pieces are heavy and big so it helped having another person being able to hold the other end. With 2 people it took us about 2 hours to put it all together. Tools are a must for building, I recommend having a drill and a socket wrench. I highly recommend watching the YouTube videos, they're easy to follow along and are a great visual. Everything is labeled and organized and written down in the instructions that come with the product. The written instructions come in handy when you need to know what items to use in each step. I absolutely love the quality that Lifetime brings to all of their products and the dog house is no exception to this.Madi

Received it fast from shipper, Some plastic panels were a little bent/warped when they came out of the box and when you are assembling can be a bit challenging but no reason to throw in the towel. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars so far overall but I haven't had a chance to weather test it outside against the heat, rains and winds that we will be experiencing during the tropical rainy season in South Florida. Look forward to see how well I think it will hold up during this period and also year around. In addition but not as a necessity I plan on adding a new plastic sheet underneath the new elevated level concrete platform and some new comfortable bedding which will be inside covering the plastic flooring base for our priceless family dog. Also due to the nature of the tabbing in assembling this dog house which could be alot better in my opinion, I decided to glue the two piece plastic flooring base together for more strength something that I didn't have to do. I might decide in the future to glue it all together but for now until I complete all the weather testing I will leave it as is. I would suggest to the manufacturer to make the instructions a little clearer/easier to read, make the tabs snap together better and easier, add more vents on the sides if possible, replace the twofront pieces of plastic with screening and as a after market item a battery operated fan/heater that you can install to keep your dog cool or warm. This is made out of thin plastic, and you literally snap the pieces together. I would recommend getting the plastic crates that can be used indoors/outdoors, as they are sturdier and only in two pieces, and cost less. This is not sturdier, and the plastic also gets stress spots on it if you take the roof off to clean or whatever. It's also a tight fit for big dogs, which is good in winter, but not in summer… and if using to keep out of rain, a big dog would still get wet because his head would most likely be sticking out. This is a great size for a cat or small/medium dogs.NYCGalOut

The dog house looks nice once it's set up. However, the structure is not too stout and the walls are too thin as well as the floor. So I'll be needing to make a few improvements. I'll need to add some foam board to the walls to provide better insulation during the winter months. And will need to install a dog house heater to keep my dog warm during the night and for those cold days. But for the price it's a decent dig house.Robapo

My dog really enjoys the out doors but often gets out of the yard after any thing she sees moving fast. She doesn't seem to mind being in this spacious kennel for a little while daily, Assembly was pretty fast. took a little over an hour for the two of us to get it together .No tools are needed for assembly. Instructions are very clear. The kennel is very durable and is great quality. I would suggest trying to put in a area that doesn't get a lot of wind if possible. It is very hard on the canvas roof. The door opens and closes very smoothly. Its a smaller kennel so its a great size for people with smaller back yards. I have used this so far for 3 months and its still standing. This keenl is well made i love how the top cover was made to fit and hold even in harsh weather. I honestly can say that this lucky do kennel has made it easier on me as a pet owner to supply a place for my pups to roam outside and still be shelterd and have room to play. I got this for one of my dogs and I was pleasantly surprised in how easy it was to put together plus it seems very well built and durable. This seems like a kennel that will last for many years! I would highly recommend it!Zachary77
