It’s a great doghouse. He’s already tried chewing the top roof corners off but it hasn’t hurt the integrity of the house. He also won’t get in it. I’m not sure why, because he did get in his crate when it was in his dog pen. He’s a 9 month old GSP. I’m hopeful once he reaches adulthood he’ll stop eating it and actually get in it. I’d totally buy it again though. It’s a great doghouse! I just have a strange dog. He also can’t get on top of it because there isn’t any grip and he slides off. That helps with him not jumping out of the 6’ tall pen.

I bought my first about 20 years ago, then shortly after bought another. My dogs passed, so I gave them to a neighbor, which still has them in use. I recently got a medium breed puppy, so I went and got another since I had such good service out of the first two. I would highly recommend to anyone with a pet outside. We get some snow where I live and my dogs always stayed warm and dry.
I mistakenly bought the Large doghouse for dogs up to 90 lbs. But my 5 month old coonhound was too large for it. I returned it and ordered the X-large doghouse and it is the right size. Unfortunately, the doghouse was broken in two places, probably due to the way you ship. These doghouses are delivered without any protection and will crack or break when sliding into anything. I was looking for a dog house for my two dogs (one 50 lbs the other 60 lbs) to share. I am very happy with this dog house. It's not made out of flimsy wood like a lot of the other houses I looked at. The corrugated ecoflex material is very sturdy and this house is very simple to put together. Each piece is numbered and laying the pieces out in ascending order makes putting this house together a breeze. My dogs fit just fine inside the house and they'll be able to keep each other warm this winter. They are medium sized dogs so they're not very tall, if this house were to be purchased for a large breed the buyer MAY find this house to be too short. ex. A great dane would NOT be able to stand up and turn around in it. I've only had his house for a few weeks so I can not comment on the longevity of this product. The only downfall I've noticed so far is that it does get a little wet on the inside when it rains, I believe they make a plastic flap that can go over the door to help eliminate this problem, I just haven't looked into it yet. It's not extra large, that's for sure. It's a large. My two Berner males at 94-lbs and 120-lbs don't go in because they can barely turn around in it. Nor my 88-lb Pyrenees. The material itself is great. But isn't the point that the dog can get in/out of it so they use it? My smaller 72-lb female uses her Ex-Lg. So is it really the size a medium dog should use? I own 6 of these quality XL dog houses for my Great Pyrenees dog, as well as, my pygmy goats. My goats actually prefer them to there fully enclosed barn. MINNESOTA Winter or Summer, they love to cuddle sometimes 2-3 per igloo. I have never needed to use the flap doors. I think the ventilation is more important. As a bonus they are a great climbing structure, even my guardian dog can be found balancing on top to get a better view of potential predators in the distance. One temporary drawback is the base can be difficult to disassemble from the top, for the first few cleanings. But a large screw drivers works well to pry them apart and they "break in" quite quickly. I will say when I was looking for a duck house I spent countless hours looking for the perfect option. Florida weather and sun does wonders to things outside. I came across this house and it just stood out. When it arrived and I was dreading assembling because let’s be real directions suck! Their directions were actually awesome and the build was a breeze! However our poor ducks only got to enjoy this for a couple weeks before we had the worst Hurricane in history make landfall right through our backyard! However upon inspections in the aftermath of the hurricane I would say this house was more solid than our own. It withstood a Cat 4 pushing Cat5 Hurricane with what appears as to be minimal damage. I live near Philadelphia and sadly, its a 3.3hr drive each way to my nearest rural king. On a 15hr road trip to Ohio to buy a Siberian husky puppy, the locals at my hotel recommended Rural King. I got this recently on a great sale price… it was half the cost of another dog house that I bought (and returned). There's only 2 pieces (a top and a bottom), and the top basically just sits on the bottom, with tabs that are supposed to hold it in place. It's not the most secure, but I don't see this being blown across the yard or anything. The plastic is heavy duty and sturdy… I mean sure, if you live in a tornado or hurricane area, then of course, yes, it'll get toss across the neighborhood; but otherwise, it should stay in place. Great for when you need to leave your pet outside for a while. It's very wide, but not very long though. My dog can curl up in here and he can fit, but he can not stretch out or lay out in this… which is fine, because dogs usually like sleeping curled up and they like snug fitting enclosures to sleep in. My standard size labradoodle fits into it. He uses it to sleep in. This is not something he can stand straight up in or something he can stretch out in… but for sleeping, he loves to curl up in it. I bought it for use outside during the winter or a rainy day, to get out of the cold or rain when I have to put him outside in the yard for a while. We put it inside the house first so that he would get use to it. The one I got said it was for dogs 50-90 lbs., which is the large size. He has no problem getting in and out of this, and he likes it a lot better than the Suncast house shaped doghouse I got him (which I ended up returning). This is plastic, but it's made of heavy duty plastic and it's sturdy; there's only a top and bottom part, and basically the top part sits on the bottom part, with tabs that are supposed to hold the two pieces together. Got these doghouses as an outdoor reprieve from the elements for our 2 Huskies. They are very sturdy and made of solid hard plastic. They've managed to remain dry inside even in a couple of downpours and driving rain. The only time that wasn't the case is when I had one on an uneven patch of grass. So you definitely want to place it on a platform if there's no flat surface. Unfortunately our pups, house dogs that LOVE to go out and play, still haven't embraced the concept of having a private pad "outside." Other than that, it's easy to set up and clean. We just got ours 2 days ago. It was deklivered by UPS during the aftermath of hurricane Ida. The UPS man needed help unloading it and when I actually got it out of the weather I noticed the box was damaged. Got the wife to come and take pictures of the damage as I unpacked it. It wasn't actually too bad except for the roof being cracked, but not beyond what I can possibly repair. Multiple places there are either screws lost or obvious cracks in the material. I will repair it as well as I can and then trrow a few coats of Epoxy paint on and IN it to protect the wood. The kennal itself was in stock and went together easily. As my pups will be spending only a few hours in it I decided to keep it and repair it. I know there are at leaast 10 screws and bolts missing because the hardware packet was partially opened and some parts had obviously fallen out of the shipping container.Bogey1
I give five stars because for the price I believe it is a nice dog house. Steel framing seems sturdy and it comes with a composite floor that will not rot. I found it easy to put together, but I could see how others may not think it is easy. Parts labeled very well and squared up well on assembly. I recommend putting together on flat concrete and only move after installing after all self tapping srews are in place. Only negative thing I would have to say is that the walls are a little thin for my liking. I feel they could be a little thicker. Also i like how it attaches to the retriever kennel. This dog house is a huge waste of money. I plan on returning mine today. First off, the wooden panels are paper thin and the floor will bow under little weight. I'm actually afraid my dog would chew out of the house very quickly. There were some parts of the instructions that didn't say which way smaller parts should be facing, and you would go through all the trouble to put it together then find out that one small part had to be flipped, but the instructions were not clear about some parts. I rebuilt this dog house probably 5 times because parts just didn't fit well at all for some reason. Oh and you DO need a drill because part of it want's you to drill screws through the metal frame because for some reason the holes were not included in the frames? The metal frame is cheap and easily bends under little weight. The only reason I even got this doghouse is because I have the retriever kennel that goes with it. Do yourself a favor and get a better quality dog house or build a good one yourself.James009

I have two picky little dogs that wouldn’t touch this Chicken Soup for the Soul brand dog food. We tried the chicken, turkey and brown rice recipe. I was actually hoping that my dogs would like this stuff because It is made with chicken as the first ingredient followed by real turkey, it doesn’t contain any byproduct meals, no wheat corn or soy, no artificial colors preservatives or flavors. It is made in the USA and they offer 100% satisfaction guarantee on their products. On the bag it suggests that you transition over to this food over a 7 to 10 day period by adding a small amount of the new food to your pets previous diet until the transition is completed to avoid digestive upset. I tried doing that and my dogs refused to eat the new food. Instead they would pick out pieces of their old food and eat that leaving the new food untouched. I am guessing that if it came down to this or nothing, my dogs would eat this rather than starve but they really seem to prefer their old dog food, which is pretty good stuff too. Chicken, turkey, and brown rice is the perfect food for my 11-month-old puppy. My little pup is a picky eater, barely eating the expensive brands I brought home, but he never finishes his meal at one sitting. That changed when I gave him this puppy food. Now he eats over 1 cup and doesn’t want it to end. He hasn’t even fully transitioned to it, but he loves this food! He bites into small pieces that are easy to chew and have a slightly crunchy texture. Having different textures in his meal is good because it keeps him interested. Chicken Soup for the Soul puppy food doesn’t have a strong pungent scent like other cheap quality puppy food. There’s no need for me or for my pup to worry about powerful smells assaulting our noses. Peas were on the ingredient list, which was a personal con for me. Plant-based proteins like peas aren’t helpful for growing pups since even a small amount can bloat the proportion of protein in a dog food formula. There’s no corn filler in this, and I noticed that barley is listed among the ingredients, giving my pup a healthy dose of fiber and vitamins. Besides that, he eats his food right away and isn’t picky. Since he whirls about excitedly when I fill his bowl, and he spills it as he eats it, I think he views it as a treat and not as regular food. I love the Chicken Soup for the Soul brand and I think it's nice that they are branching out and making new products. My puppies love this dry dog food, for sure. The kibble is very small, no bigger than, about, a quarter-of-an-inch. Maybe a little smaller. So, our puppies can chew it up with their little mouths, even though they're chihuahuas. It doesn't have a strong smell, but it obviously smells wonderful to them. It seems to help clean their teeth and even help with their breath. I was excited to get this carrier for my cat Tinky for her trip to the vet. The last trip we used a regular carrier and when she got home she yelled at that carrier every hour for two days do I figured I would get something she would like better to make the trip a bit more enjoyable, yeah right… After wrestling with her to get her into the soft carrier I realized my 16lb cat was way too big for that carrier and even if she were smaller she could test it apart. I was sold this bag at the airport for flying with my miniature schnauzer, the bag is super-light and the size is perfect as she can lie down in the bag. The bag is see-through from 3 sides so the dog remains cool even in the summer and can see what's going on. The bag folds perfectly flat when not used. However the quality of the bag is questionable, it survived two shorthaul flights and few train journeys but I don't think it will last more than a year of regular use. The dog house (which is being used for a feral cat), arrived quickly and was pretty easy to assemble. It is sturdy enough for our uses, which included putting a smaller insulated cat container in one side of the house and food/water dishes near the entrance. This crate is very light weight and great for travel. It pops up quickly and though a little tricky to compress again, is easy to put away. Larger dogs may be able to roll this crate around. It is utilized in our camper for our 90 pound chocolate lab. She fits well enough to lay down and it was not wrecked the first few uses, but she is crate trained. I do however believe the bottom material could've used some more reinforcement as a dog that size wont take much to make an accidental rip. This crate tucks in nicely by the bed. I had to twist the crate to get it to fit, but since it is soft sided, it was easy to do. I have 2 long haired miniature dachshunds, and they both have plenty of room and are really happy to have their blankets and sleeping space. The crate is well made and is perfect for my needs. I looked at a number of options and could not find another crate as narrow as this one. The metal door is easy to close and I was able to flip it so the door opened the direction I needed. The only negative is with the limited space, the opening radius of the door is fairly limited. Both my dogs can easily fit, but depending on the space in your unit, a larger dog might have troubles fitting through the door. The crate had obviously been used and returned. The metal was rusted in places and the plastic bottom tray was dirty. When I decided to return it, It was a challenge to get it back in the box. When I took it back to the store, I asked about a discount and received 15% off (the tax). I had previously bought one that was marked down by 50% because the box was damaged. I was quite disappointed in the whole experience. Apparently the merchandise was supposed to be checked if the box was damaged and that wasn’t done in this case.Janice
I've owned dogs for the last 40 years. I've used MidWest wire crates for my last 4 dogs. This iCrate didn't disappoint. It's sturdy and and easy to put up and take down. I use them when I travel with my dogs too. My dogs only use their crates for sleeping in at night or napping in during the day. During the day, their crate doors are left open. I close the dogs in at night. I don't have an issue with my dogs trying to escape from their crates, so I can't speak to whether or not this would be sturdy enough for a dog that's determined to get out of their crate. These crates are more than sturdy enough for my miniature Schnauzer, Havanese, and Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. All three of my dogs love their MidWest iCrates, as did my previous dog! They go in them voluntarily and when told to "crate up". My only concern with the current crate I ordered is that that one of the latches isn't lined up quite right so it's a bit tight when closing the crate door. I bent it slightly and it works much better. I haven't had that issue with any of the previous MidWest crates I've used. I'm a MidWest crate fan.Eddie09
We bought this in April 2022 for our Rhodesian Ridgeback mix puppy. He was weeks old when we rescued him. He was a Parvo pup and barely survived, so rest and his own quiet space was highly recommended for recovery. We first used the divider which was great. However, as he grew, so did his strength. It definitely is not strong enough for large dogs. Even for short amounts of time. At the moment he is 6 months and 60 pounds. Thankfully he did not get out nor hurt himself! Doghouse is a nice size and is cute. The parts seemed bowed at first, but everything shored up with a little push just before attaching with screws. My 14 yr old granddaughter put it together with little instruction from me. The house is lightweight, and I am glad for that since we've not decided where exactly we want to put the house.
