I've been looking for a while to find a gate that would fit my space. I have a 66in opening. They all look great then you read the specs. 4 panels that are 28in wide. Well that wont work. I bought this gate to confine my dog in the kitchen which has a large open doorway. It fit well into the space and looked nice. Installation was pretty easy although I had to screw into drywall so if I were keeping the gate I would need to purchase anchors for the screws to ensure stability. For the most part this gate was just what I expected and I was initially happy with my purchase although the door was sometimes difficult to open with one hand. Unfortunately I have an incredibly agile dog and within a day of the gate being up she figured out that she could easily jump right over it. Will be returning the gate since it doesn't fulfill its intended purpose with my dog. I am sure it would work very well for dogs who are not able to jump so high.LuvMyShiba
Seems to be well made and easy to use. But if you stretch it out straight across and you have a wooden floor you will need to put something such as a rubber strip to grip it down. For the price the pet gate was alright however, the description mentions that the gate will fit openings up to 39 inches and while it might possibly fit the opening, it is quite loose and could be knocked down. It would require firing strips with a 39 inch doorway. The construction of the pet gate is also very light and not nearly as hardy as one previously purchased.Johnr314
Both my roommate and I have medium/large dogs and I also have a cat. We needed a way to keep the dogs from getting the cat food and litter, while also giving everyone access to different parts of the house. I put this gate up in my walk-in closet (where I keep my cat's things) and it works perfectly! I had to tie up the small cat door so that it doesn't accidentally close and leave my cat without access to her box, but that wasn't a problem to me. Also, my cat isn't afraid to go through the door which was another concern of mine, but no issues! I love this gate, especially for the price! I had to cover an 8 foot area and its perfect. My little one is 1 1/2 and he likes to shake it. Each end is connected into studs so it wiggles but its secure. Both sides have a little slide door, its easy to slide but I prefer to step over. The latch kinda sticks. We bought this gate for an 89inch entryway between our dining room and living room and it works perfectly. Installation was fast and easy and it has held up to all of my kids banging on it and shaking it and whatever it is that kids typically do. the metal bracket screwed into the gate at the bottom is a little bent from their activity but I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon, bent, but still works perfectly. We don't have any problems opening it and closing it, it might be a little tricky when I am in a hurry but still only takes a few seconds. My 3 1/2 years old did open it once unassisted but he hasn't tried it since, I'd imagine its pretty tricky for most kids especially for the ones younger than 3. We bought this for our 1 year old and I wished I had bought it sooner!! We have two fairly small dogs and this gate is amazing for containing them. The opening between our family room and our living room is 70" and this gate spans the opening perfectly. I especially like that it is free-standing and not attached to a wall. Because it has substantial plastic tabs that "catch" between the two walls of the opening, the dogs aren't able to push it open or push it over. Since it moves easily, they are able to insert noses between the gate and the wall it is pressing against and squeeze through that way. We have solved that with a jug of kitty litter against the gate. Not really attractive, but effective. It is very easy to move out of the way and put back in place, so I can get in and out of different rooms. It is short enough for our cats to jump over (20") and my husband easily steps over it (he's pretty tall). Our dogs are a Shiatsu who is fairly small and a small standard poodle. Neither of them has attempted to jump over the gate (they aren't jumpers). Larger dogs or those who are jumpers might be able to jump over. Our son has a very large standard poodle and she is quite able to get over the gate when she visits, so this might not be perfect for a larger dog. Easy assembly. No screws necessary, but are an option. The main door is a little small but the cat door is big enough for my fat cat to fit through. Overall, I’m happy with this gate and I am purchasing another one for a different room. Fits standard size door but has a small extension if you have a bigger doorway. FYI…No gate extensions available for this model. The lock on the gate is very hard to open and close and you have to get it just right to lock when closing it. And if I'm going to keep complaining, the gate itself is narrow compared to our other walk through baby gate so if Im carrying anything I have to go through it sideways. I do recommend installment of the wall cups to help hold in place to keep quare to help minimize the gate issues I described but it doesnt fix them. I have two very active Brittanys who easily jumped a 30-inch child gate at four months of age. My living room is the only room in the house with carpet, and I don't want them going in there during the muddy winter months. The opening is 60 inches wide, and I looked a long time for a gate that would be tall enough to prohibit jumping and wide enough to fit the space. Working great to keep the dogs away from our catbox (and food) area. Overall we’re very happy! The latch can get loose if you don’t remember to lock it all the way into place – our smarty pants figured that out pretty quickly. It was pretty easy to screw in to the walls, although I had to initially pull the rods out to get at it from the right angle. The handle has 2 mechanisms that you have to move to open the gate. Hassle for easy opening. Great for kids or dogs that figure out how to lift the handle. They can’t open it! We bought 2. They fit where we need them. They keep the dog away from the litter boxes so far. We do not care for the small doors in the gates, though. They swing around when you open and close the main gate. If you have the small door opened in one direction then they hit your shins. In the other direction, they hit the wall or door frame where they are located. So we just removed the little doors altogether (instructions below). Also, we attached a couple of bungee cords to the main gate so that it swings shut on its own since the kids always forget to shut it. OK, maybe I forget sometimes too. Anyway, we're happy now. Our medium/large dog can only stick her head through the small door. My 5-yr-old nephew informed me that his head also fits through the small door. Hopefully the gates just last and don't break down as another reviewer reported…. For anyone who wants to just remove the little doors: Lift the little door up as high as possible on the main gate frame. Use a pair of very thin, precision needle-nosed pliers (I got mine in the jewelry section of a craft store) to reach in and grab the spring-loaded bar as high as possible and pull it down as much as possible. This will not be enough to pop the bar out, though, so you will need to then pull the gate toward you in order to create tension on the bar so it doesn't pop back up. Then remove the pliers and use them to grab the bar at the top again. This time, when you pull down, the bar should pop out from the frame of the main gate and you can then remove the little door. I was pleased, husband was pleased, shins and walls are pleased.danyello
Very easy to install! Works great. We did not screw into the wall, just used the pressure part and it works perfectly. We can open the large gate and we go through with no problems and we leave the smaller pet gate open. We have 2 cats and a brittany spaniel. We needed the gate to keep our brittany spaniel out of the kitchen, but still allow our cats through the gate and this works perfect for that. Our brittany spaniel some how still managed to squeeze through the little pet door so we just tied a tight ribbon in the middle of the small pet door from top to bottom so she can no longer squeeze through yet our other pets can fit through. So keep in mind if you have a medium sized dog like our brittany spaniel they may still be able to squeeze through the small pet door, just tie a ribbon right in the center of the small pet door from the center top to center bottom like we did and they won't be able to.This pet gate works great, wish we had found it sooner!soapnmomof2
Came apart after 2 weeks of use. Cheaply made, looks like small amount of epoxy holding it together when it should have been soldered. First picture is where joint came apart and second one is another joint with a small dot holding it together. Not going to hold up long term. This gate is a nightmare to fit tightly enough to hold up to any leaning on it from curious children. Pushing down hard enough to get it in place knocks it out of place during install. The latch to open it sticks, and if I pull too hard I disengage it entirely instead of it remaining in the "remember my preferred width" position. It feels so bendy I worry pushing in hard enough will damage it. It is absolutely not functional as a gate for a determined, walking child. Its one advantage is it's low enough to easily step over and so we barely have to take it out thank goodness, but this would not be an advantage if we needed a proper barrier for a child older than maybe 2? Luckily we just need a gentle reminder they're not supposed to enter or leave that room without us in tow. I’m not sure what product the negative reviews are for (shipping – which shouldn’t even be a review of the product-duh?, flimsy, walls are uneven- seriously?) because it is not this product. I purchased this gate 24 years as a baby gate for my son. And used it constantly over the years for my dogs. I just threw away the 24 year-old gate, because it stopped latching. 24 years!!! I purchased three (3) of the same gate for my new home last month (for the dogs). They are strong gates, I have an Alpha-Female German Shepherd, a Doberman, and a crazy Australian Shepherd You have to push down on the handle, then pull up to unlatch. Not hard- Use a little muscle? Sure. You want that in a sturdy gate. I was looking at this product on here only to find the dimensions (because I didn’t want to get out of bed to measure- it’s 3 am) and saw the negative reviews and thought, “What are you people reviewing – their living room curtains?” I couldn’t stand by and let this happen. Especially when I have purchased this gate so many times. If you are reading this, buy the gate. It’s what you want for dogs or children. Do not listen to the negative reviews, these people are either soft, whiners, or are still having someone else do their laundry for them. I’m from Gen-X. It’s a good quality gate PERIOD.Lori
I love it! It is super easy to open and close. We installed it so that it is hinged. We are able to open it and swing it up against the wall going up the stairway if we choose to leave it open. It is a great way to block off the stairs. I was surprised at how nice it was for the price. It is a very sturdy gate and even the 6 year old can open and close it easily.Jennifer

For the price the pet gate was alright however, the description mentions that the gate will fit openings up to 39 inches and while it might possibly fit the opening, it is quite loose and could be knocked down. It would require firing strips with a 39 inch doorway. The construction of the pet gate is also very light and not nearly as hardy as one previously purchased.Johnr314
Both my roommate and I have medium/large dogs and I also have a cat. We needed a way to keep the dogs from getting the cat food and litter, while also giving everyone access to different parts of the house. I put this gate up in my walk-in closet (where I keep my cat's things) and it works perfectly! I had to tie up the small cat door so that it doesn't accidentally close and leave my cat without access to her box, but that wasn't a problem to me. Also, my cat isn't afraid to go through the door which was another concern of mine, but no issues! The silver finish works fine with my off white walls, and it's easy for me to get in and out of my closet daily. I'd definitely recommend!Rebecca

I’ve learned that there are surprisingly few pet gate options that are wide enough for my hallway AND include a cat door… at least this one withstands the force of my 70 pound dog when he lunges at my cat. I wish the door swung both ways. I wish it was auto-closing. I wish I could remove the cat door without the use of a saw. I had to rig it open with a hair tie.
