I am a dog groomer and go through nail clippers very quickly. Dog nail clippers must be sharp so that they don't crush the nail and hurt the dogs. My dog has had a skin tag on the front of her leg for over two years. It wasn’t so much bothersome to me, but i could tell it irritated her especially when it was bumped or something. My avid little mouser cat caught herself a little prize just a few days before a month-prior planned trip my husband and i were unavoidably about to go to. Apparently that mouse had bitten her back in the process, right on her tender little lip cleft! Before we knew it, that bite had gotten infected so bad she became lethargic, her face swollen an angry shade of red, she could not eat or even drink on her own and she could not even close her mouth and was drooling on herself. Because of the covid situation and proximity of timing to our trip to see family, there was no way to get her to a vet in time before we had to leave in 3-4 days. So we did the best we could with a dropper to feed and water her and rushed out to get Vetericyn to help stave off the infection which reduced the angry redness to a healthier pinkish. For the very few days we had before we had to go, I was keeping her hydrated and was spraying her face with the Vetericyn regularly (as directed) even as we headed out the door with one last treatment. We did cut our weekend trip short by a day out of concern for her, but when we came back she was doing significantly better in that the swelling was down, but was reddened again. Back to the spray treatment, make sure she got dropper-watered, and by that evening she was gingerly back to parking in her 'askance' spot hoping for bits of our chicken dinner! I fully believe that had we not gotten Vetericyn and treated her with it in the few days prior to leaving that we wouldn't still have her today. Using this for hot spots on my canine, this stuff does work but it sometimes can take up to 2 8oz. Bottles to heal the area's treated. Not sure if it's the strength of medicine or just those stubborn spots. I caught the spots early on and started treating them immediately and have been treating them for a month now and they are getting better but slowly, these things are stubborn. I can say that absolutely nothing else I tried worked. Believe it or not, I read online the other day that rubbing Pepto Bismol on hot spots actually works, you heard right, Pepto Bismol. I haven't had the nerve to try it as I thought it could just be some nut trying to infect your pet even worse. I was on frontline for years but when I thought I saw a couple fleas on my dogs in September 2020, I decided to make a switch to Advantage II for my cats and Advantix II for my dogs— BIGGEST mistake of my life (seriously, like over any horrible exes). I have $515.97 in receipts I submitted to the company (which was as horrible as the experience, which I will get to) and spent an additional $70 in store (in which I cannot find the receipt) since September 2020 to December. I followed every tip on the website and insert and my animals were still covered. I applied perfectly. I applied initially weekly, vacuum daily, steam cleaned, wash bedding constantly, etc. I don’t even have carpet but on the stairs and have treated the stairs and couches with Predcor. I even bought those flea traps with the sticky bottoms. I am not including any of this in that total I spent– that was all on the flea medications themselves for the 6 animals. I have saved some, not all, of the vials so on 11/13 I called Elanco. They denied my request for any type of refund. They questioned my exact dosage dates and frequency more than a doctor wants to know about your menstrual cycles but I took my best guesses, for all 6 animals although I did know what schedule they were on but didn't have it in front of me. Then they said that the product was probably not working because I bathed my dogs initially at the beginning 48 hours before application?? Their website TELLS you to bathe them before application (see 2nd screenshot posted)! I stopped bathing them after the 2nd application as it wasn't working and the dogs were miserable and only tried 2 cats (and really only 1 successfully because we all know how that goes). They then told me that I didn't give the product long enough?? Their website states (see 3rd screenshot) and is the same for Advantage II "K9 Advantix® II kills fleas within 12 hours. New fleas that jump on the dog from the surroundings, such as grass, carpet and pet bedding, are killed within 2 hours with protection against further infestation for at least 4 weeks." I tried their products, $600 worth on 6 animals, as scheduled, no missed doses for 4 months. I can’t blame it on just one animal or one batch—it didn’t work on 6, or one batch! I am very upset. Not only have I wasted money on these but I have bought corresponding products, sprays for the beddings, flea traps, etc. I FINALLY called Terminex and had to spend 12 hours clearing out under my beds, closets, getting everything off my floors, moving furniture etc. (time I will never get back) and getting my children and pets out of the house and went back to the brand that works: FRONTLINE! NO MORE FLEAS– what I should have done in the first place. I am so upset not by the fact that the product didn't work but by the way the company handled it, dodging any responsibility from blaming it on the baths they recommend to the length of time I gave it when they could have just refunded me and had someone that isn't going to not only post this review every place I bought it (not just here) but every other place that allows a review to include social media.Intelhottie

We bought Advantix liquid application anti-flea and tick treatment because it is effective, was less expensive and did not require a prescription. We had easily and successfully used liquid Advantix for years with our Plott hound mix. We now have a beagle. Beagle hair is different; it's thick, coarse, oily, kind of water proof and difficult to part in order to properly apply the liquid to the skin. Advantix is a very good product, but pet owners may want to assess their pet's coat to determine how the liquid application could be applied.Gary

My dog was getting ticks so I purchased this. I have used it in the past with great success when it had the Bayer logo on it . The one I received has the Elanco brand logo on it. I used 1 bottle and It was like I used nothing at all. Mind you I walk my dog and when he comes in the house I would find 2 or 3 live ticks walking on him. So I figured ok maybe it didnt work or I didnt wait long enough. After about 10 days of this I applied another bottle and again nothing. He still kept coming in the house with ticks every time. I needed to use this product for some time to appreciate its abilities. My dog likes to spend time outside rolling around and doing dog things. This leads to her coming into the house, tracking dirt and the pesky fleas. We've done well to mitigate it in the past, but PetArmor helped in the process. In the past, I have given my dog oral medication to prevent flea and ticks. It worked well but I was never comfortable with the fact that he had to ingest the medicine. I decided we’d use a topical solution for this summer and this is working great so far. The application was easy and the the applicator worked well. I’ve had to apply a different brand on foster puppies in the past and sometimes, the liquid would just all flow right out during the first contact, leaving no medicine for the rest of the dog’s back. It wasn’t the case with PetArmor. I had good control to dispense the product with their applicator. My dog had no discomfort whatsoever on the application sites. Finally something that works consistently. After trying probably 10-15 brands of flea and tick stuff for my Dogs this is the company I come back to. Ive tried expensive stuff, Ive tried dirt cheap stuff. This works and works FAST. I actually have to put my dogs out if they have fleas on them at all. Within 30 minutes they are jumping off to get away and die. Weve had issues with super fleas here in northeast USA where the only thing Ive found to work is old fashion dawn dish soap and salt.Ive literally spread salt on all my floors so it looks like snow and left it sit over night then vacuum it up and then mop with dawn dish soap, everyday for over a week straight. This stuff not only took care of the fleas on the dogs and cats but the ones in the house would jump on the dogs would die to. Havent had an issue since.Corvet08

I bought this for my one dog's really dry paws. He'd scratch me with his paw pads every time he'd put them on me. Honestly, it did work well; within a few days his paws were already looking and feeling better. However, he hates having his paws touched, so it's a bit of a struggle each time (despite easing him into it). The smell is fairly neutral; it actually smells like a humectant I used to use on my hair. Musher secret pet paw protection is used year round for both my dogs. Living in the NYC, I deal with snow, salt, ice, and blistering pavement in the summers, and this product is an absolute miracle and super easy to apply. In the winter, I put it on their paws 2 to 3 times a week and they can withstand the bitter cold and salty walks. In the summer when the temperature is 80 and above, I put it on their paws and she can walk on asphalt without issue. It also helps protect their paws from pesticides and environmental allergies. I am finding Bravecto to be 100% effective at killing ticks before they suck blood, even before they attach. I know it's working because I'm brushing dead (flat) ticks out of my dogs' fur. When I used Frontline and Advantix I was constantly picking engorged ticks from my dogs. Maybe the ticks would have died EVENTUALLY, but they were having quite a ride in the meantime, and dogs were getting itchy, unpleasant wounds. They downside of Bravecto: Theoretically, if your dog has a bad reaction to it, you can't wash it off, like you could with the topical formulas. I have 3 dogs and none of them had any reaction at all, so I haven't faced that problem. We live in an area with lots of ticks and a very high incidence of Lyme disease, so I am willing to take the risk. So far so good!doghairstew

I received a Hartz® UltraGuard® Flea & Tick Collar for Dogs – White in exchange for a review. I loved the fact that there is enough length in the collar that it would fit multiple size dogs. I put this on my 62 pound Pittie the very first day I received it. I did have a little trouble getting the end through the buckles but luckily, my dog is very patient. I haven’t noticed any adverse effects on his skin nor scratching where the collar is. I do have some very tall grass that he likes to run and play in on a regular basis and I typically use some sort of OTC drops from the store. My dogs go to the groomer for their baths every 6 weeks and I was shocked when they told me my german shepherd had a few fleas on him and the groomer informed me that fleas were bad this year because my dogs have never had fleas., so in a rush, I ordered these flea collars and they seem to work but I also use a spray bottle with 1 cup of apple cider vinegar mixed with 2 cups of water and spray it on my hands then rub my dogs down before they go outside in the mornings first of day then I spray their beds a spritz of it and voila!!!! no more fleas!!!!!! These soft chews have worked miracles for us. Our inside dog used to constantly come in with fleas and no matter the treatment of baths, collars, dips, etc., nothing would bring her full relief. I got the small 1.5oz pawtector. I don't know what I was thinking by getting the small one (would be great for a small dog or on the go), but it has helped relieve and protect my golden retrievers paws from the blazing sidewalks in the summertime. I have rescue pit mix that gets nervous when I put stuff on his paws, especially things that are scented. These are unscented and he's less nervous and actually let's me put this on his feet! It's very distressing to find 3 happy engorged ticks on your dog 24 hours after treatment following all the requirements re: proper placement location on the dog, shaved the hair to make contact only on the skin, no water on the dog for 24 hours or at all after treatment. I breed Chihuahuas and I also foster cats/kittens. My Chihuahuas are litter box trained so they rarely get fleas because they dont spend a whole lot of time outside. Got a puppy not too long ago she was infested with fleas so after picking her up I immediately gave her a bath. We already had a dog so I used the shampoo we already had at home this bright orange fleas and ticks one and over 10 fleas got out of her coat and died within that ONE bath! This shampoo does not work, never have. I thought it would have improved over the years but it hasn't. All it does is put the fleas to sleep while soaking the dog for at least 10 minutes. The moment my dog is dry, the fleas are back biting. I don't see how this company is still in business selling this product. I once gave my dog a bath once a week for 3 weeks and still the fleas were there. If your dog or cat is infested with fleas or ticks, please consult a veterinarian because Hartz is like pouring koolaid on the fleas. It also dries the dogs skin as well.Janit Jaxon

This product is a verified looser. After washing my two dogs, I only got a few dead ticks to come off in the bath. I picked the rest of the alive ticks off by hand. I put them in a jar to see how long it would take for them to die. My findings show that this stuff is great for increasing the tick population. Within a few days, we noticed that she would not be scratchy when coming back into the house, then we didn't have to treat her bedding as much. Very nice! In the past, I have given my dog oral medication to prevent flea and ticks. It worked well but I was never comfortable with the fact that he had to ingest the medicine. I decided we’d use a topical solution for this summer and this is working great so far. The application was easy and the the applicator worked well. I’ve had to apply a different brand on foster puppies in the past and sometimes, the liquid would just all flow right out during the first contact, leaving no medicine for the rest of the dog’s back. It wasn’t the case with PetArmor. I had good control to dispense the product with their applicator. My dog had no discomfort whatsoever on the application sites. The product didn’t leave his coat all oily or smelly. I love that you can scan a QR code in the box and the brand will send a text 30 days later as a reminder for when the next dose is due. Their formula contains Fipronil and (S)-methoprene like most expensive well-known brands but at a more affordable cost. Finally something that works consistently. After trying probably 10-15 brands of flea and tick stuff for my Dogs this is the company I come back to. Ive tried expensive stuff, Ive tried dirt cheap stuff. This works and works FAST. I actually have to put my dogs out if they have fleas on them at all. Within 30 minutes they are jumping off to get away and die. Weve had issues with super fleas here in northeast USA where the only thing Ive found to work is old fashion dawn dish soap and salt.Ive literally spread salt on all my floors so it looks like snow and left it sit over night then vacuum it up and then mop with dawn dish soap, everyday for over a week straight. This stuff not only took care of the fleas on the dogs and cats but the ones in the house would jump on the dogs would die to. Havent had an issue since.Corvet08
