I had been struggling with a slight flea problem with my dog who is routinely treated with K9 ADVANTAGE II topical flea protection. After a vacation we came home with some fleas and my dog was scratching himself crazy. Topical meds were obviously not working. I tried vinegar and palmolive baths (with essence oils) there werent a lot of fleas but only a few are too many. Vaccuming and household sprays were not eliminating the tiny fleas i saw. I finally decided a medicated ‘dip’ was what i needed…found this shampoo at Walmarts and noticed it had a higher % of pyrethrins than anything else so i gave it a try. I followed the directions,used rubber gloves, lathered up good and let it sit about 7-8 minutes. I saw a few fleas wash off with the rinse….hours later my dog is sleeping peacefully and i cannot find even 1 flea no matter how hard i try. I love this shampoo! You only need a tiny amount to lather the whole dog and it doesnt smell horrible. If you have a flea problem try this shampoo (but dont forget your house must also be flea proofed).Fav

I have been battling fleas on my inside/ outside dog and 2 indoor cats. I have had little to no results with just about everything. I did my research and bought this shampoo based on reviews and that I could use it in both the dog and the cats. Both cats are older and I’m scared of the topical monthly flea meds. This seemed like a more harmless option. The first cat seems to have done well. My second cat started foaming at the mouth and drooling heavily. I immediately rinsed her and wrapped her in a towel. She seems to be recovering okay. I’m watching her closely. There were very few negative reviews but I just wanted to post my experience with it. And I’m all fairness it may very well be that she was so stressed by the bath that it was a stress reaction. I’m not sure. Just be aware and watch your pets closely for any signs of stress.Pamela

Bought the Adams flea & tick plus as it came two in a Pkg & we have two small dogs. There was no warning on product that small dogs could suffer side effects more so than larger dogs, I found out online when my baby (the smaller of our two at 11 #'s) started acting very strange. He couldn't be still, yet at bed time he was so tired he would try to lay down & there was involuntary twitching & muscle movement, he couldn't be still. Morning & no difference, so it occurred to us only thing new was the flea collar! Took it off & called my vet. She said long as he hadn't eaten it, he should be ok but to monitor & if he didn't improve he would need pet urgent care. I love my little boy so much! I was in tears, but as day went on he did improve some and that night he was able to sleep right up next to me with some twitching, but not nearly as bad. End of second day, he is much better but I can't imagine the damage done if we hadn't put it together & removed the collar!

After one night in the collar, my poor Chihuahua was weak in the back legs, had NO appetite, started throwing up yellow stomach acid with bits of red, stringy blood in it, and is shaking all over and miserable. I am SO glad I pay attention to everything with my service animal, and knew the collar was the only thing different!!

I received the collar and opened it to put on my cat. I immediately noticed the pleasant smell of the collar and how soft and flexible the collar was. It went on with ease and was simple to put on. The purple color was a nice contrast as well. The cat is leaving it alone and when I pick her up that light scent was very nice and not over powering. I highly recommend the color for comfort, style and I really like that the effectiveness is for 7 months. Before using the collar I had a situation were my other pet who is a dog woke up one morning and couldn't walk and was in pain. As it turned out he had contracted lymes disease from a tick. He is doing better but was on medication for a month and a very expensive hospital visit for him. My decision was to get collars that I can trust and be confident in. That is why Hartz was the choice for me. It lasts 7 months and I don't have to worry about any of my animals for the season. With it being so easy to put on and having it last long is a bonus. I received a Hartz® UltraGuard® Flea & Tick Collar for Dogs – White in exchange for a review. I loved the fact that there is enough length in the collar that it would fit multiple size dogs. I put this on my 62 pound Pittie the very first day I received it. I did have a little trouble getting the end through the buckles but luckily, my dog is very patient. I haven’t noticed any adverse effects on his skin nor scratching where the collar is. I do have some very tall grass that he likes to run and play in on a regular basis and I typically use some sort of OTC drops from the store. I have not found a single flea or tick on him since I started using the collar and definitely recommend anyone giving it a try before spending a fortune at their local veterinarian.SexyCougar

My dogs go to the groomer for their baths every 6 weeks and I was shocked when they told me my german shepherd had a few fleas on him and the groomer informed me that fleas were bad this year because my dogs have never had fleas., so in a rush, I ordered these flea collars and they seem to work but I also use a spray bottle with 1 cup of apple cider vinegar mixed with 2 cups of water and spray it on my hands then rub my dogs down before they go outside in the mornings first of day then I spray their beds a spritz of it and voila!!!! no more fleas!!!!!! I also used the Hartz flea and tick drops which also works along with everything else. I like a clean house and just can't deal with fleas !!! I live in a crazy flea ridden area. Southern swamp fleas are really tough to keep away. If you've got the money, go with Nexgard. We don't, so we tried this product out. It works just as well as Frontline, which here, isn't wonderfully but good enough. When we lived in IL Frontline was plenty. We also wash pet bedding often, and use food grade diatomaceous earth. You've eaten it many times without realizing, farmers use it on wheat and other crops to kill destructive insects (caterpillars and other wormies with exoskeletons). This is a very safe method for killing adult fleas, hopefully before they can lay eggs. Don't buy the pool stuff, get food grade. Sprinkle it on the carpet before vacuuming. Once fleas come into contact with it, they die within 4 hours – it slices up their exoskeletons. Obviously we can't coat every flea, but doing this regularly really cuts down on the problem (nyuk) and is much safer than harsh chemicals – plus, no smell. Just like talcum powder, flour, and other particulates, avoid breathing it in, as it can be an irritant to your and your pet's lungs (no tossing it in the air and dancing under it naked, but a little shouldn't hurt). For those hard to vacuum areas like under furniture, sprinkle a bit and leave it. There are also these bulb things you can buy to spread the dust more evenly, but it's cheap so we just use a sifter or shaker bottle with small holes. We killed them inside, but they kept reappearing. We realized we have a screened in porch with sand and gravel right outside the back door. Fleas love that stuff. Sprinkled it in the gravel and added the porch to the regular DE routine and now it's unusual to find those devils. Tried this on my dog that not only has sensitive skin , but also goes insane when bitten by a flea. Scratches and rubs herself raw and hair free in spots all over. Baths and dips made no improvement. Started using this a couple years ago and couldn't be more satisfied. I haven't noticed any side effects and she is significantly more comfortable. I know when its time to retreat. At around 4 weeks ish she is seen beginning to scratch and rub her back on the coffee table again. Retreat and all is good again.Skankhunt42

I have used Fiproguard Max for three years and have been completely satisfied then it was discontinued and replaced with Fiproguard Plus. Thanks to that I have been fighting a flea problem on my dogs and in my house!! Imagine sitting on your couch with your dog and a flea jumps on your arm, then you find them all over your dog! Mad dash to the store to buy (more $$) flea killer shampoos, sprays . Wash the dogs, all the bedding and soft furnishings, spray the house from top to bottom and guess what? In two days they're back! Finally had to get my house fumigated, (more $$) research other flea prevention products (more time) and get my dogs treated with a new product. I am SO mad!! Why on earth did they have to change the formula? This product is great for our human society cats. The value is a great portion. There isn’t a need to improve this product. I honestly think this is more of a placebo effect type deal, it’s cheaper than most other sprays I’ve tried (I’ve tried almost everything) and it Does work when sprayed directly on a flea. The flea starts acting really weird immediately, stops being able to jump and eventually dies. The problem is, in most cases you just spray this around, not directly on fleas. Personally I hate the smell too but I’ve had worse. We have 3 pets, I’ve been dealing with a Severe infestation for months, every time I think I’m getting it under control, it gets worse. We’ve tried collars (don’t bother, total waste of money) sprays, topical, flea bombs, shampoos, powder and eatables.nicoll.z

I have had no problems using "Adams flea & tick spot on" treatments on my dog for the last year. My dog is a large dog. He weighs 85 pounds. He has had no negative reactions to this product. My dog is mostly an 'indoor dog'. The amount of time he is exposed to ticks and fleas is very limited. My only dislike with the Adams is that it seems a bit 'greasy' and can be difficult to applyimg to his upper neck behind the shoulders. Some of the liquid seems his dense hair and maybe not enough to his skin, which could be a waste. I shall soon transfer to a less greasy brand. If your dog does not have such dense hair this should not be a problem. Just follow the instructions on the box.dadm

It's water resistant, so you don't have to worry about your pet being in the rain. The ingredients are similar to other products. The best part is the applicator. Open the applicator, stick an unopened tube in, and close it. It automatically snaps the tube open. Then to apply, you just place the tip on your pet, press the button and move to another spot, press again, and once more. Remove the tube and discard. You can then reuse the applicator with your future treatments. I got none on my hands and it applied the treatment deep within my dog's coat. Does it work? Well I haven't seen any fleas or ticks yet. My dog seems to be doing fine with this product. When i first applied it, i had given him a bath just 2 hours prior. I found out that giving a bath 48-72 hours prior to application of a topical flea preventative is best instead of 1-2 hours because bathing a dog will naturally strip the skin and coat of oils, oils that are needed for the flea product to distribute itself around the body of the dog through the process of Translocation.Anyways the first time i applied the product i still saw fleas. I waited about 2 weeks after the first application and reapplied a 2nd one due to my concerns that bathing him right before i applied the 1st application made the product less effective. It did its job as expected and advertised. It was easy to apply, did not cause irritation or have an overpowering smell. It seemed super oily to me, however I'm sure that is necessary for it to be effective. Also I got some on my skin and it did not cause irritation, even though my skin is very sensitive. So you don't have to worry about washing couches or furniture if you or your family members have sensitivity issues. And though it's obviously not something you can (or should) buy at a dollar store, it is very affordable considering you get a few months supply.rachel.b

To protect my dog from ticks, I put this on my dog once a month in the summer. I go camping a lot and while we were just in the woods for the weekend on the North Shore he didn’t get one tick. Word of advice though is to not let the oil touch anything because it stains and gets everywhere. You will see a horror story about thousands of pets being poisoned, and killed by HARTZ flea and tic products. They are largely unregulated because instead of medication they use pesticides, those pesticides KILL dogs and cats. That company has known about these deaths and medical emergencies for decades now, they don't care. Trust me, the fleas won't die but your animal will. This happened to my cat 10 yrs ago, attached is a pic of my beautiful CeCe, she was in a coma for a day but was lucky enough to survive. I contacted the company , they ended up paying for the $1500 vet bill but didn't admit it was their product that caused the emergency. They have known it is an issue for decades but they are able to skirt the issue by using pesticides in their products instead of FDA monitored medications. I trust Hartz brand when it comes to preventing fleas and ticks. I know most people use flea chews but I don't see the need because this seems to work for me, I do not have carpet in my house which may be why I've not had any infestations. Everytime I applied this to my dogs they would get dizzy and not want to eat for a couple days. It doesn't get rid of fleas like frontline or Bravecto. Possitve: great delivery time on the sellers part. Would order other stuff from seller just not this product.tcraine

Sorry I'm very long winded so don't say I didn't warn ya lol, anyways I was going to originally buy Bio Spot Active Care Flea & Tick Dog Shampoo due to the reviews but when I saw the ingredients were identically and a lot more expensive than Zodiac, I went with Zodiac, plus Zodiac had equally good reviews, it makes sense since the ingredients are practically the same. I bought this over a week ago for my 7 lb westie/yorke mixed, Throughout the year he is fine and does not have a flea issue but during the beginning of the summer that is when he gets them from dog parks which he rarely goes since it's not that safe, he may also get fleas when I walk him around the courtyard grass area at our apartments. He only gets no more than 3 fleas at a time, I was trying to get him some over the counter flea/tick medicine since he normally needs only one dose for the whole summer but couldn't find a vet who had revolution in this new location we moved at that so I decided to get him some temporary relief which was this shampoo, I could see the fleas fall off during his bath but the next day new ones jumped back on after i took him for his walks so I was like guess this isn't as good as I thought it was. within a week I bathed him again with the shampoo, it wasn't planned but I did it because I took him to a non dog park and he got full of some weird stickly plant things and I guess that final bath did it, I never did see any fleas or itching after that, I guess it's true they need to be bathed a couple of times with that shampoo before the fleas start repelling. I will definitely buy this shampoo again in the future but will also take him to vet for testing heart warm etc and getting revolution as a preventive health since it takes care of a lot of stuff since fleas/ticks is not the only issue we should be worry about when it comes to our pets.calistud

Due to upstairs tenants, shortly after getting my first puppy, he had awful flead. Not only him but the entire house was overidden. Once professionally treated, we cleaned him with this then used the spray that prevents further fleas and ticks and it worked great. My dogs love to be outdoors and if there is mud within a quarter of a mile they will find it and start playing in it. That can be an open invitation for them to bring in fleas and ticks. While fleas are bothersome, a tick bite can cause serious problems. I started using Zodiac when my friend recommended it; she takes my dogs when I am on vacation or in the hospital. Since she has property in the country the dogs get to run outside for most of the day but she calls them in before dusk so she can give them a quick bath. Instant relief, from the constant scratching! November is bug month, the creepy crawlies; bite our fuzzy kids non-stop. Medicated shampoos only work when the dog is kept soaked in them, whilst they bathe. But even after her bath, my girl would start scratching before I could dry her. I was on frontline for years but when I thought I saw a couple fleas on my dogs in September 2020, I decided to make a switch to Advantage II for my cats and Advantix II for my dogs— BIGGEST mistake of my life (seriously, like over any horrible exes). I have $515.97 in receipts I submitted to the company (which was as horrible as the experience, which I will get to) and spent an additional $70 in store (in which I cannot find the receipt) since September 2020 to December. I followed every tip on the website and insert and my animals were still covered. I applied perfectly. I applied initially weekly, vacuum daily, steam cleaned, wash bedding constantly, etc. I don’t even have carpet but on the stairs and have treated the stairs and couches with Predcor. I even bought those flea traps with the sticky bottoms. I am not including any of this in that total I spent– that was all on the flea medications themselves for the 6 animals. I have saved some, not all, of the vials so on 11/13 I called Elanco. They denied my request for any type of refund. They questioned my exact dosage dates and frequency more than a doctor wants to know about your menstrual cycles but I took my best guesses, for all 6 animals although I did know what schedule they were on but didn't have it in front of me. Then they said that the product was probably not working because I bathed my dogs initially at the beginning 48 hours before application?? Their website TELLS you to bathe them before application (see 2nd screenshot posted)! I stopped bathing them after the 2nd application as it wasn't working and the dogs were miserable and only tried 2 cats (and really only 1 successfully because we all know how that goes). They then told me that I didn't give the product long enough?? Their website states (see 3rd screenshot) and is the same for Advantage II "K9 Advantix® II kills fleas within 12 hours. New fleas that jump on the dog from the surroundings, such as grass, carpet and pet bedding, are killed within 2 hours with protection against further infestation for at least 4 weeks." I tried their products, $600 worth on 6 animals, as scheduled, no missed doses for 4 months. I can’t blame it on just one animal or one batch—it didn’t work on 6, or one batch! I am very upset. Not only have I wasted money on these but I have bought corresponding products, sprays for the beddings, flea traps, etc. I FINALLY called Terminex and had to spend 12 hours clearing out under my beds, closets, getting everything off my floors, moving furniture etc. (time I will never get back) and getting my children and pets out of the house and went back to the brand that works: FRONTLINE! NO MORE FLEAS– what I should have done in the first place. I am so upset not by the fact that the product didn't work but by the way the company handled it, dodging any responsibility from blaming it on the baths they recommend to the length of time I gave it when they could have just refunded me and had someone that isn't going to not only post this review every place I bought it (not just here) but every other place that allows a review to include social media.Intelhottie

We bought Advantix liquid application anti-flea and tick treatment because it is effective, was less expensive and did not require a prescription. We had easily and successfully used liquid Advantix for years with our Plott hound mix. We now have a beagle. Beagle hair is different; it's thick, coarse, oily, kind of water proof and difficult to part in order to properly apply the liquid to the skin. Advantix is a very good product, but pet owners may want to assess their pet's coat to determine how the liquid application could be applied.Gary

My dog was getting ticks so I purchased this. I have used it in the past with great success when it had the Bayer logo on it . The one I received has the Elanco brand logo on it. I used 1 bottle and It was like I used nothing at all. Mind you I walk my dog and when he comes in the house I would find 2 or 3 live ticks walking on him. So I figured ok maybe it didnt work or I didnt wait long enough. After about 10 days of this I applied another bottle and again nothing. He still kept coming in the house with ticks every time. So I'm not sure exactly what's going on but the package I received appeared to be authentic. All serial numbers matched and packages were sealed well. Since Frontline Plus no longer worked on my Standard Poodle, I thought that the new hopefully improved version might. But no, Frontline Gold was much like putting water on his coat. There was not one dead flea on him after three days. Not sure why although it was very difficult to place it on him correctly – they state a flat line on his skin all the way from neck to tail – for starters there is not enough liquid to do that and a Standard Poodle is a long dog! So, not sure if that was the problem but this year in North Central WV the temps and humidity are perfect for a bumper crop of fleas and it is a seemingly non ending problem. I needed to use this product for some time to appreciate its abilities. My dog likes to spend time outside rolling around and doing dog things. This leads to her coming into the house, tracking dirt and the pesky fleas. We've done well to mitigate it in the past, but PetArmor helped in the process. Within a few days, we noticed that she would not be scratchy when coming back into the house, then we didn't have to treat her bedding as much. Very nice! This went on for a few weeks, and eventually, there were no signs of fleas or scratching! It's been a great summer, and we look forward to a flea-free fall. In the past, I have given my dog oral medication to prevent flea and ticks. It worked well but I was never comfortable with the fact that he had to ingest the medicine. I decided we’d use a topical solution for this summer and this is working great so far. The application was easy and the the applicator worked well. I’ve had to apply a different brand on foster puppies in the past and sometimes, the liquid would just all flow right out during the first contact, leaving no medicine for the rest of the dog’s back. It wasn’t the case with PetArmor. I had good control to dispense the product with their applicator. My dog had no discomfort whatsoever on the application sites. The product didn’t leave his coat all oily or smelly. I love that you can scan a QR code in the box and the brand will send a text 30 days later as a reminder for when the next dose is due. Their formula contains Fipronil and (S)-methoprene like most expensive well-known brands but at a more affordable cost. So far, I’m very happy with this and I look forward to a tick free summer!LinPMaine

Finally something that works consistently. After trying probably 10-15 brands of flea and tick stuff for my Dogs this is the company I come back to. Ive tried expensive stuff, Ive tried dirt cheap stuff. This works and works FAST. I actually have to put my dogs out if they have fleas on them at all. Within 30 minutes they are jumping off to get away and die. Weve had issues with super fleas here in northeast USA where the only thing Ive found to work is old fashion dawn dish soap and salt.Ive literally spread salt on all my floors so it looks like snow and left it sit over night then vacuum it up and then mop with dawn dish soap, everyday for over a week straight. This stuff not only took care of the fleas on the dogs and cats but the ones in the house would jump on the dogs would die to. Havent had an issue since.Corvet08
