I have bought several brands of these and this is by far the best one that has pleased my dogs, lasted longer and are consistently the size the package states. They do stink but my experience has been that the smellier they are the more the dogs love it! It is a repulsive smell so I would advise against letting them on the furniture with it and wash your hands after touching them as your hands will smell. I tolerate this because at 5.00 per pop you want quality, a safe product for your pup and want them to last a bit. I have bought brands that our Toy Aussiedoodle demolished in less than a day but I get the large and she is an aggressive chewer so they last up to 2 days for each stick sometimes. We also have a chi that likes the large sticks and they last him quite awhile! Please always take any treat from your pet when it gets too small. These can easily choke them to death if they fit it in their mouth.Sarah
Not only am I happy with these treats, the little guys are, & they can be finicky about these things. Of course, presentation is an important key, but you know your pups more than anyone else. Our little guys took to these gnaws very quickly. Way faster than a few of the other treats that we have tried before. Being able to chew on something is important to them, to dogs in general. Sometimes it helps with their chewing on other things, or destroying toys. Sometimes, it's just good for their teeth & well being. Sometimes I just like giving them a cool treat. I can't tell you anything about taste, & they don't smell like anything to me, really, but the guys love them & that does say a whole bunch. Like all of the furry friends, they like to socialize when you're eating, & giving them a nice crunchy treat is a great thing for them. These are hard treats, not soft. They are also not uniform in thickness, just length. Be careful when they eat them. You can cut them I pieces, but certainly would want to use some kitchen shears to be safe. These NatureGnaws bully sticks are a great option to get for your dog if he or she is a tough chewer. It seems like bully sticks are the only things that can keep them occupied for longer than 15 minutes. In fact, my dog usually chews a bully stick for around 30 minutes or so, so it ends up being a great investment. As far as the quality of these bully sticks, my dog seems to love them. Granted, she loves pretty much everything, so that's not the best way to determine how good it is. As far as bully sticks in general go, I've tried ones from Costco and Chewy.com, and I would say, the ones from Chewy are the least smelliest of them all. These NatureGnaws ones are similar in smell to the ones from Costco. They don't smell bed at first, but once the dog starts chewing on them for a while, the odor comes gushing out. But if you're used to the bully sticks smell, then this shouldn't be a problem. These bully sticks are also about 2 inches shorter in length than ones from Costco. I have had my Weimaraner/lab mix { He’s 130lbs} on open farm for about 5 or 6 months . My dog is not a picky eater he will eat anything (that’s the lab in him) so as far as him eating there is no issue that being said I like the fact that the kibble is very small because that means less cooking and less nutrients lost during the process. I feed my dog a variety of their ancient grains recipes I like to change it each month . I also purchase the gently cooked and mix it in with his dinner . HE LOVES THE GENTLY COOKED . I wish however they did have more of a variety in the gently cooked and getting venison in the ancient grains . MAJOR PROBLEM with the people who are packing the orders , I have had lots of issues with the delivery people throwing and damaging my packages . My gently cooked food has been cut open and wrong food sent multiple times . I expect great service with the prices that I’m paying I spend over 300$ in open farm food a month . A few of the customer services people were great and fixed my order mishaps but the delivery service is HORRIBLE. I have 6 small breed rescued dogs that are all seniors. I've been using this for all, except one dog for many years. One of my dogs has a very sensitive stomach and can't use this supplement (I believe it's a beef and/or liver sensitivity), but the other dogs have no problem at all. They like the taste and most importantly it really helps! All of my dogs being seniors, 9yrs up to 18yrs (yep, 18 yrs old) have joint issues from age and this really seems to help with joint pain and even joint popping/cracking. They seem to be able to play more on this supplement too! If I ever run out, I noticed their joints popping more often and after only a couple days of using this product I notice a big difference. I haven't used this for larger breeds or younger adult dogs, but I imagine it would be great for them too, especially with all the joint issues that come with larger breeds. FYI, ALL the supplement sizes are the same product but with different sized scoops and dosage instructions based on the scoop size. I believe all the jars except the smallest size come with a larger scoop (supposedly 1oz, but seems to be more IMO) and the dosage instructions are based on the included scoop. So, if you're like me and buy a large sized jar for multiple smaller dogs, make sure to check the dosage instructions on the small size jar accurate instructions. To begin with; our pooch is a tall & lean 92lb Catahoula mix with a deep chest. He's a big boy, but I'd not say especially long. I mention the legnth because the XL Carhartt jacket isn't long enough… stopping 3" short of our Catahoula's tail. Despite his deep chest, the lower straps are at least 4" too long & must be overlapped with more than 2" protruding on both sides. The front strap is also a bit too long but less than 2". The Velcro holds well but we've only used the jacket a few times so far – I've read less than positive reviews about the Velcro not holding up past a year – a buckle would be nice (& we may add this). The jacket is rather stiff & when our dog turns or manuvers, the rear portion swings out a little left/right (like a hoop skirt) away from the ribcage, leaving the rump exposed, but this isn't a big deal & the stiffness will probably relax somewhat after repeated use &/or a wash. There's no opening for a harness, but an opening could be cut & nicely stitched pretty easily – we're going to do this. Having said all that we do like the jacket – it's made of tough Carhartt fabric (VERY important for adventurous doggies!), it stays in place even during vigorous rabbit chases through deep brush & offers very good protection… keeping in mind there's NO coverage underneath. We plan to get an additional "sweater" type garment to be worn as a base layer on colder days.Catahoulas are awesome
We have 2 dobermans and live in a very rural, snowy area. They play/wrestle constantly and they shredded through 4-5 coats due to their playing. We finally found the Carhartt Dog Chore coat and they've lasted 2 years now. I would've given this product 5 Stars, but there are 2 issues I can't ignore: 1) One dog is 65lbs and the Large size is a little small on her (because, as a Doberman, she has a huge ribcage). Our other dog is 85lbs and the XL is huge on him. So the fit range seems to be inconsistent. 2) The velcro lost most of its grip after the first year. Also, the stitching holding the velcro on is coming out. We need to use rubber bands to keep the coat strapped on. All that said, this is still the most functional and durable dog coat we've found.DougP
I have two dogs, a sm/md hound and a thin, barrel chested md sheppard. Sadly, I haven't actually found anything that fits my sheppard properly and thats the case here, medium is too small and large she swims in. So this review is for the hound. He is a perfect fit in a medium and I believe he weighs around 33-36lbs. The girls at the coffee stands absolutely think he is adorable, which is true. I love the jacket and so does he. but what is frustrating is the velcro straps have worn out in about 4 months of heavy use. I do believe thats partly on my end because they really are hard on jackets and harnesses. That said, I wish the jackets included two brass buttons or snaps in additon to the velcro to help prevent snags ripping the straps apart when they play and run in the forest. If you are not going to use this every day, or the dogs are not 2 and 3 years old at the dog park multiple times a week, like mine, I fully recommend this jacket. It is great, it just isn't up to real heavy, rough use for more than a few months. The teeth of the velco just start to pull out over time and then there are not enough left to hold it seccure. I will buy again, but im a little bummed about it. the jacket has a nice patina to it… there should also be an access hole for a harness loop to pass through, but there isn't. The "cooling" side of the mattress is a lie. I know how cooling mattresses looks like and yours just have the color but not a cooling layer. My dog is very hot in his new bed during hot days and sleeps on the floor. Therefore, I feel cheated for having paid almost $50 for this bed. Also, the cover material is synthetic which naturally created heat and on top of a synthetic sponge creates a really too hot environment for my dog. The material is slippery so my elderly dog can hardly get up. The only reason I gave two stars is that the shape and height are good. Still, sizes you provide are inadequate and not a reflection of dog needs which is strange when Furheaven is in this business. My Yorki is a normal size. Yet, when I bought small which you recommend according to the size and weight chart as well as the sleeping area measurements you provided,he can fit well provided he is all the time in something like a fetus position and he doesn't move much. He cannot stretch or lie down in such a way so as to have at least an inch of space between himself and the sides of the bed. Dogs sometimes sleep in a stretched position and do need some extra space. Dogs also move during the sleep, swirl around, wiggle. So I had to get him a medium size which is really too big for him and the space where we keep it in our apartment but I am happy he has some extra space. Humans don't sleep in beds which are exactly their size. Standard beds even if a twin size have some extra space on all four sides because nobody stays in one position during the night. Why would it be any different for dogs especially when it's known that they sleep most of the time. I don't get it.Zenja B.
We absolutely LOVE this bed!!! It is extremely well made with separate zippered compartments for the bolster and bed padding. This makes it very easy to wash the cover and not the padding. I highly recommend the "Convoluted Orthopedic Foam" Mattress. As we live in California where the weather is warmer, the "Quilted" Cover material has been perfect all year round. This is actually our second bed that we bought. The first bed we bought for our an older dog who was starting to get arthritis and have back issues. We felt this bed greatly reduced his symptoms and made his last years much more comfortable. At a certain point we ordered a replacement cover for the first bed. It was still in such great condition when he passed that we could not get rid of it. Our new puppy found the bed and claimed it as her own. We decided to get a new cover for her along with another bed, so she had one in each room. We got the Medium size originally for a 35 LB older dog. I really like this food for the dogs. It was a whole like 10lb bag which I was shocked about. Definitely didn’t expect that, I was thinking a 5lb bag or something. Thought I would try this brand due to it high reviews. The package arrived in tact, fully sealed. Even when mixed with majority of prior puppy food she would not even try eat it, simply seemed to try to single out pieces of former food mixed in and dumping on floor to do so. I tried mixing it with a bit of peanut butter to get her to eat it as peanut butter is her favorite treat. Still will not eat. The expiration date has several months to go. Not sure what is going on. 2 days of trying different ways to intoduce but she would appear to rather not eat than eat this even when her last meal had been smaller of her former brand. Our great dane was 17mos when we brought him home. Slightly under weight, stressed from changing from his first home to his forever home. He could only eat a few measured cups a day. I got these as something new for my pup. She likes them a lot. 1 of the few treats I’ve found that slows her down for a good 30+ mins until she chews it all. I get her the small/medium but she could probably get away trying the large too as she’s near the top of the “medium sized dog”. She loves anything with peanut butter and I wasn’t sure how she’d do with the chicken because she doesn’t tolerate “processed” chicken well. Our two dachshunds LOVE these ! The little one, who is a mini dappled and special because he is partly blind and the equivalent of a human albino, and is super sweet, gets on his back legs, jumping around a and almost spinning, going crazy for these.! Then he runs and hides so his "brother", a regular size, won't try to take it from him. Although Gus, our regular size doxie, has never taken one from Bo, the "baby". Gus sits right next to my feet on the floor until he finishes his. It keeps them quiet and calm for at least 10 minutes. Have had pain, aches and muscle inflammation for years particularly on my left knee, ankle and foot; to make matters worse about a year ago the Dr. diagnosed me with an osteoarthritic knee; before that time and since have used many products and devices (non-prescription) seeking to alleviate pain and inflammation. That is until about mid- August 2014 when I was introduced to Absorbine Liniment Veterinary Gel while visiting a cousin in Puerto Rico, of course I doubted its effectiveness. I bought the small toppls and my two cavaliers love them. I've used it at dinner time with soft foods and some chopped up pieces of prime100 and it kept them busy for a good 7-ish minutes (which is much longer than the few seconds it usually takes them to practically inhale their food). I love that it can be used with kibble as well as a treat dispenser (although you need to buy two different sized ones to do this). These are amazing. We're in the process of diagnosing some GI issues with our 8 month puppy, and she's on a very limited diet and can't have any treats, chews or bones. It's a terrible age to not be able to give anything but prescription food. She can't be trusted with soft toys or rope toys, and has no interest in kongs or other rubber things. These are perfect for keeping her busy. We pack her kibble and some wet food in them and freeze them. They take her a good 30 minutes or more to finish, and she has yet to damage one. Was disappointed with the expiration dates. I planned on to my elderly cat’s meals. I bought 2 but after opening it could only be kept in refrigerator for 1 week. There’s no way I would have been able able the entire pouch in that amount of time. My cat has been a very finicky eater and she ate the food with broth added but not as much as I had hoped. My cats like to just lick up the liquid in their wet food and skip the food. When I add this and mix everything around, they eat more of the food. Sometimes, I add it later in the day if there is still food in the bowl but no liquid. One cat is on special kidney food which is pricey and I don't want to waste the food. I also don't want to waste any of this broth and have had to toss some of it after 7 days. I wish there was a smaller packaging option. My dog loves it! I feed Royal Canin to my little dog who is extremely picky. My large dog always wanted to steal her food, so I finally decided to get her own. The kibbles are pretty large, but she is a big girl (90 lbs) and has no trouble with them. She definitely loves the flavor! No stomach upset either, and her system is pretty sensitive. My 4 year old German shepherd has always had GI issues no matter what she ate. Her mom was the same way, but pedigree was the only thing that helped her. I tried pedigree and it was working great for a while. Soon after my dog started to throw up acid and have either loose stools to diarrhea. The vet would diagnose her with anxiety and put her on a diet consisting of cooked chicken, plain rice, cottage cheese and pumpkin. That did work but eventually I had to get her back onto regular dog food in order to get her all the nutrients she required. Again the food would work and then stop. I tried the canned royal canine food but that also have her GI issues. I searched online and found this food from royal canine and the reviews were what made me buy it. Most of the reviews addressed the same issues I was having and stated their dog’s GI issue minimized to being completely nonexistent. It was pretty expensive and didn’t come in a smaller bag but at that point I was desperate. Trying new foods would work for a week max and then I would have to find something else. My dog has been on this food for about 3-4 weeks now and so far I have not had an issue! She absolutely loves this food and cannot get enough. If you want dog food that not only helps with GI issues (digestive), but something your dog will actually eat and keep their weight maintained I would highly recommend. No price is too much when you love your dog and want them to feel better.abailey0722
This is the perfect food for my 2 year old bloodhound. Although he weighs a little over 100 pounds, he can easily eat this kibble. Tried the Royal Canin Giant Breed, but the kibble size is too big and I have to crush the pieces with a hammer. I put the kibble pieces in a gallon size baggie, wrap in a towel and beat with the hammer. And then he may just turn his nose up.BBeeb
