The "Description" of this product says "X-Large," but don't be fooled. In fact it is size "M," though you won't see that on this website. I went to pick it up and let the nice people at Ace Hardware know they would need a flatbed to bring it to the front. A few minutes later they wheeled out this teeny tiny doghouse. I bought it for my Blue Heeler mix and Border Collie to share. It might fit a miniature Schnauzer. Luckily they refunded my money with no hassle at all, but I still need a dog house. This is the only dog house that is nice and roomy and my dogs can go in and out without hitting their shoulders. These are nice dog houses. They are light weight & don't look like they are very warm, but they actually do a good job, my border collies like these a lot. The extra neck or tunnel entrance is nice to give them some extra protection and privacy. They stand up pretty well to puppies chewing on them to. I recommend this dog house.Iowafarmgal
I bought my first about 20 years ago, then shortly after bought another. My dogs passed, so I gave them to a neighbor, which still has them in use. I recently got a medium breed puppy, so I went and got another since I had such good service out of the first two. I would highly recommend to anyone with a pet outside. We get some snow where I live and my dogs always stayed warm and dry.
I mistakenly bought the Large doghouse for dogs up to 90 lbs. But my 5 month old coonhound was too large for it. I returned it and ordered the X-large doghouse and it is the right size. Unfortunately, the doghouse was broken in two places, probably due to the way you ship. These doghouses are delivered without any protection and will crack or break when sliding into anything. I will have to repair it to hold it together since I don't trust you are able to send another one without the same issues.Daniel

Bought this for our 7 month old Pyrador puppy, who has already outgrown one house. It was easy to put together, and the sturdist dog house we've ever seen. Plus being insulated is perfect for a cold Indiana winter. She's huge and still growing and loves it. The first night she slept in front of it despite dog treats inside. Second night was cooler, she decided to check it out so the head and front paws went thru the swinging door first, and after she had stood that way for about 5 minutes, walked all the way in, and has loved it ever since. It’s a great doghouse. He’s already tried chewing the top roof corners off but it hasn’t hurt the integrity of the house. He also won’t get in it. I’m not sure why, because he did get in his crate when it was in his dog pen. He’s a 9 month old GSP. I’m hopeful once he reaches adulthood he’ll stop eating it and actually get in it. I’d totally buy it again though. It’s a great doghouse! I just have a strange dog. He also can’t get on top of it because there isn’t any grip and he slides off. That helps with him not jumping out of the 6’ tall pen.
We got this house for a new Boxador puppy so that it can spend most of its time outside. We found it to be a good product. It was easy to put together and does stay much warmer than the outside air. In rainy weather, it stays dry. It is a very large house which would work for a lab or other large dog. No problems with the dog using the door. Only suggestion: add nuts and bolts for the 6 screws. Screwing metal into plastic is not a real good plan. I'm assuming the company will have replacement parts (door, window, etc…) available for my investment!Y Robinson

It's not extra large, that's for sure. It's a large. My two Berner males at 94-lbs and 120-lbs don't go in because they can barely turn around in it. Nor my 88-lb Pyrenees. The material itself is great. But isn't the point that the dog can get in/out of it so they use it? My smaller 72-lb female uses her Ex-Lg. So is it really the size a medium dog should use? I own 6 of these quality XL dog houses for my Great Pyrenees dog, as well as, my pygmy goats. My goats actually prefer them to there fully enclosed barn. MINNESOTA Winter or Summer, they love to cuddle sometimes 2-3 per igloo. I have never needed to use the flap doors. I think the ventilation is more important. As a bonus they are a great climbing structure, even my guardian dog can be found balancing on top to get a better view of potential predators in the distance. One temporary drawback is the base can be difficult to disassemble from the top, for the first few cleanings. But a large screw drivers works well to pry them apart and they "break in" quite quickly. As my herd grows, I will keep adding these amazing shelters. Thanks Petmate!

This igloo dog house is absolutely the best thing on the market. Heavy, durable and withstands high winds, rain, and hail. I haven't been able to test in cold temperatures yet as I just received this recently. However, I have no doubts it will definitely hold up. My dog is 60lbs and has plenty of room left in it to move adound. Provides a great shelter. It is constructed very well. You will definitely not be disappointed with this product! I got this igloo-shaped dog house for our Shih Tzu which is 20 lbs. I got this to keep her cool in the warm months when we sit on our patio. It came in two separate pieces in a large box. The top part of the dog house has 4 brackets which easily snaps to the bottom half for quick assembly. I assembled it in our home and needed to carry it out onto our patio through the front of the house since it was too wide to fit through our sliding door. It is surprisingly lightweight for its dimensions, so it is easy to carry to different locations. The top of the house has a round vent with a paw print which can be turned to open or close it as needed for ventilation. Because of its design, there’s room for movement. The smaller opening in the front protects it from the elements such as wind and sun; although rain did get in through that front opening and not the vent. It disassembles quickly for cleaning or even to transport away from home! Although it is a large house, I feel that it is suitable for a medium size dog so that it can have enough room to move comfortably. Once assembled, my dog was confused and leery, which is to be expected since it’s something new! I gently introduced her to the inside and she was able to move around comfortable until she nested on her bedding. I highly recommend this house for any small to med sized pet to be used in the summer to keep them cool and winter to keep them warmer. Yet because it lacks insulation. I just got this dog house and paid somebody to put it together. Only to find out that it is not extra large. I would consider it medium size. Won’t even fit my lab mix. We were looking for a dog house for our 75 lb German Shepherd & we wanted one he would continue to grow into. This fit the bill. Product arrived quickly and un damaged. Set up was painless and easy. Opening is big enough for him & plenty of room to plop down inside. In less than a year he did break one of the roof attachment rails. Working with New Age Pet wasn't a bad experience and the replacement parts arrived quickly enough. I was looking for a dog house for my two dogs (one 50 lbs the other 60 lbs) to share. I am very happy with this dog house. It's not made out of flimsy wood like a lot of the other houses I looked at. The corrugated ecoflex material is very sturdy and this house is very simple to put together. Each piece is numbered and laying the pieces out in ascending order makes putting this house together a breeze. My dogs fit just fine inside the house and they'll be able to keep each other warm this winter. They are medium sized dogs so they're not very tall, if this house were to be purchased for a large breed the buyer MAY find this house to be too short. ex. A great dane would NOT be able to stand up and turn around in it. I've only had his house for a few weeks so I can not comment on the longevity of this product. The only downfall I've noticed so far is that it does get a little wet on the inside when it rains, I believe they make a plastic flap that can go over the door to help eliminate this problem, I just haven't looked into it yet. It is sturdy enough for our uses, which included putting a smaller insulated cat container in one side of the house and food/water dishes near the entrance. I just got my dog house all set up and wow! It’s great! While my 50lb border collie is a little hesitant of it, I think he will grow accustomed to it! Assembly was not too hard and only took about an hour and a half, I liked the slide and lock mechanics of connecting the walls. The divider wall, heater mount, and hydraulic lid are great features. It is a pretty large dog house but I have a large dog so it is needed, it gives him room to turn around and lay down however he likes. Thanks lifetime!Jordo
This dog house is actually big enough to fit both of our dogs. It took about an hour and 15 minutes for my husband to put it together. The item is super sturdy but light enough that he could carry it and reposition it without any help. The top locks down and easily opens up for us to be able to put their bed in. I love the fact that there is a place to put a space heater for the times they need to stay out for a bit. We’ve had a doghouse before and it just didn’t hold up well after being out in the weather. This dog house was sent to me by Lifetime products to review and I have nothing but good things to say. This dog house is extremely nice quality and over all easy to build. I absolutely love that the roof is an easy to open lid that can be used when you're cleaning it out or needing to check inside. It's big enough to fit my 35 lb dog's bed in there and still have room for other things. The middle panel is removable which I absolutely love. Though I believe I could've built this on my own, having another person helped the building process even easier. Some of the pieces are heavy and big so it helped having another person being able to hold the other end. With 2 people it took us about 2 hours to put it all together. Tools are a must for building, I recommend having a drill and a socket wrench. I highly recommend watching the YouTube videos, they're easy to follow along and are a great visual. Everything is labeled and organized and written down in the instructions that come with the product. The written instructions come in handy when you need to know what items to use in each step. Received it fast from shipper, Some plastic panels were a little bent/warped when they came out of the box and when you are assembling can be a bit challenging but no reason to throw in the towel. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars so far overall but I haven't had a chance to weather test it outside against the heat, rains and winds that we will be experiencing during the tropical rainy season in South Florida. Look forward to see how well I think it will hold up during this period and also year around. In addition but not as a necessity I plan on adding a new plastic sheet underneath the new elevated level concrete platform and some new comfortable bedding which will be inside covering the plastic flooring base for our priceless family dog. Also due to the nature of the tabbing in assembling this dog house which could be alot better in my opinion, I decided to glue the two piece plastic flooring base together for more strength something that I didn't have to do. I might decide in the future to glue it all together but for now until I complete all the weather testing I will leave it as is. I would suggest to the manufacturer to make the instructions a little clearer/easier to read, make the tabs snap together better and easier, add more vents on the sides if possible, replace the twofront pieces of plastic with screening and as a after market item a battery operated fan/heater that you can install to keep your dog cool or warm. This is made out of thin plastic, and you literally snap the pieces together. I would recommend getting the plastic crates that can be used indoors/outdoors, as they are sturdier and only in two pieces, and cost less. This is not sturdier, and the plastic also gets stress spots on it if you take the roof off to clean or whatever. It's also a tight fit for big dogs, which is good in winter, but not in summer… and if using to keep out of rain, a big dog would still get wet because his head would most likely be sticking out. The dog house looks nice once it's set up. However, the structure is not too stout and the walls are too thin as well as the floor. So I'll be needing to make a few improvements. I'll need to add some foam board to the walls to provide better insulation during the winter months. And will need to install a dog house heater to keep my dog warm during the night and for those cold days. But for the price it's a decent dig house.Robapo

Use it for my medium sized beagel. Only had for about a week but I was impressed with the easy of installation. Took me alone about 40 minutes to set up. Gave extra screw for misplace or damaged ones. I appreciate the porch so I can put his food and water there without getting all wet. I like the half-roof lift as well for easy clean out. So far it has handled a good down poor without any water leaks. It has real roof sealed roof shingles. It also sits about 1-1.5 inches off the ground… don't worry to much about bugs. The dimensions in the inside is a bit smaller than I anticipated, but my dog like small dens. Don't know how it will hold up for months/years to come, but Im initially impressed.Andre
I purchased the medium size house for my feral cats outside to provide shelter from the elements. I received the house in a few days but had to wait for the weather here to cooperate so it could be put together. It assembled quite quickly. The instructions were pretty straight forward & used the picture as a guide. All pieces were intact and all screws and bolts were included. My one issue is the packaging. This manufacturer needs to use a thicker Styrofoam to not only protect the product from damage, but so that when the consumer takes the product out of the box, Styrofoam doesn't fly all over. What a mess! That being said, I plan on getting another one. As soon as it was all set up, the cats immediately inspected it and made themselves at home😊 I didn't give it 5 stars because the packaging needs to be addressed, but the product is one that I would recommend.Catatude
I actually purchased this house for a feral cat that I look after. I added insulation, a heater, and some straw and he's very comfortable and content. I also added a camera, to see what goes on in there, but that's solely for my entertainment. The house is well made and sturdy and looks great on my deck. I'm so happy with it I've ordered another for another cat. And, at around $100, the price is excellent. I'm giving it only 4 stars simply because it needed to be insulated, it just isn't warm enough without it.. With insulation it's a 5 star house, and insulating it was cheap and very easy to do. This dog house was purchased for an inside/outside dog. Since we have an invisible fence, he needed some shelter during the raw days of fall and winter. This house fits the bill. It is attractive enough to stay on our screened in porch, and sturdy enough to hold a black lab with room to spare. I probably would be a little reluctant if this house was for an outside only dog due to the soft cedar wood construction.
